Kim Possible: Vamped

Kim eyed the components as the Tweebs studied her schematics she had drawn up, and Jim murmured as Tim just looked over at the prototype already set on a table near where the many parts and pieces of various devices lay around Kim's workstation.
"Will it work?"
"Actually, yes," Tim told her as he carefully tested the connections before he snapped the halves together to form what appeared to be a common MP3 player as was once pretty common. "In fact, with the special battery we devised, you shouldn't have any issues with it shorting or failing either."
"This is pretty clever," Jim said, turning from the schematics.
"I'm worried about Dana," she admitted. "This way, she can protect herself in any scenario."
"Right. Because the hard-light emitter lets her appear any way she wants, and the fallback safeguard of activating her force field will send an alert to your Kimmunicator the moment it powers on," Tim nodded as he eyed the device. "That is clever," Tim agreed as he turned from the schematics. "Still, if you add one more gig on the hard drive, which should be no trouble, you can have more than two stored masks for her to use, giving her up to ten camouflages she can download and use without having to worry about finding and downloading new looks in a rush."
"I was wondering about that," Kim nodded at him as Jim nodded to his brother. "Can you expand the memory for me while I start my next project," she asked.
"Do we get to help," Jim and Tim both asked with a grin.
"I may need your help. Only after you have built four of those holo-masks for me. Oh, and you still have that PDVI blueprints, don't you?"
"We have a portable device we built from them, too," Jim crowed. "Half the original was redundantly built to pad someone's resume in some lab. Only we streamlined it, and increased the power, too."
"Perfect," she nodded.
"Wait," Tim frowned. "Four?"
"Maybe five," Kim said after a moment.
"But…why would Dana…?"
"Shego and I may need one, too. If the Council gets rattled enough, and I expect it," Kim said quietly as she eyed her siblings.
"Still, five?"
"If trouble does fail to take us out at the start, Dana's girlfriend may be needing one for her own protection. I won't discount a threat aimed at her to try to manage us," Kim told them. "I'd rather not risk overlooking her."
"I get it. Which sounds like we might want to back up the house security after all, and maybe give our parents a heads up, too," Jim nodded.
"It couldn't hurt. Just stress they shouldn't worry. I'm managing this one myself. This time, no one will be making any decisions except me and Dana."
"And Shego."
"Well, she'll have input," Kim smiled now.
Both boys chortled.
"Okay, so four, we can see that," Jim and Tim frowned. "But five?"
"A spare just in case," she declared, still yet to decide what to do about Monique.
"So, could we borrow this design for ourselves, Tim suddenly asked.
Kim eyed the pair and noted how eager both looked.
"One condition and you have to swear to keep to it."
"Sure, Kim," Tim nodded. "You know us."
"No one and I do mean absolutely no one can know about this device. Not even mom and dad. This is beyond top secret, and I'd have to demand a severe penalty if you slip up. So no pranks. No unnecessary use. This cannot be found or discovered by anyone."
"Because they'd figure out you and your people have it," Jim and Tim both concluded as one after a shared look. "Don't worry, sis, totally not a thing."
"We just figured we might want to be careful, too. Mom and dad might be harder to grab, or manage being who they are," Tim told her.
"Only," Jim said blandly, too blandly for him, "Someone that doesn't know us that well might think that means they can use us."
"That is…possible," Kim nodded. "All right. Seven units. Just stick to the bargain," Kim told them. "And get me that tech and plans over here, too."
"So, what are you planning?"
Kim smirked now.
"I'm using their own words against them, just as they might think to use my nature against me again."
"Huh," both boys frowned.
"Think about it? If they start panicking, they might aim GJ at me, or someone else. Now, if they demand I give them a word of truth, suppose I swear I have not killed or otherwise harmed anyone in question? I could say that was the truth. Even if….I merely happened to let them go unharmed into another dimensional plane, and they were fine when I last saw them," Kim smirked.
"Only first you have to know…."
"Where those dimensions are found," Tim concluded.
"Which is why I going to finish up and build the quantum viewer I theorized for my doctorate. Only I need something like the PDVI adapted to be able to….exile those I target. I let them go technically free and unharmed, and I can swear I never hurt any of them," she said with such a chilling smile that both siblings shared an uneasy look.
"Just don't drop us someplace like that," they grimaced.
"Don't worry, Tweebs," Kim smiled now. "You're family. I'd never use it on you two. Or our friends. If you need it, I'll even give you my word…."
"No big," Jim said.
"Unlike the idiots out there, we trust you," Tim said with a firm nod.
"Guys, I appreciate that. I'm going to go dust off my doctoral schematics, and get to work."
"Didn't the DOD confiscate and classify those," Jim frowned.
Kim smirked.
"You honestly think I gave them my real, original plans?"
Tim chortled as Jim's eyes rounded in realization, and declared, "Let me guess. They're probably trying to build a weapon based on incorrect diagrams?"
"Let's just say they likely blew up a lot of labs before they decided I wasn't another Possible genius," Kim smirked.
"Like even we would fall for that one. You're probably smarter than us if you stop and actually work at it."
"Right. So, emitters first, and then get me your plans, and I'll see how I need to tweak them. I want to be able to start moving by the week's end. I calculate that is how long it will take Wade and Ron to figure out what is really going on out there now I've pointed them in the right direction."
"Not the harpy," they asked.
"You've been listening to Shego again. Still, no. I suspect it will take her no less than three weeks to get around to figuring out anything she will even attempt to investigate. Only I'm taking shortcuts, and don't especially care about Du's rules and regulations for this one."
"Smart," Jim nodded. "Give us an hour, and we'll have the emitters ready. Let us know if you need us to get that one for Amy delivered."
Kim considered Amy's request to join with her lover, and said, "We'll manage it. Dana might want to take a trip anyway to warn her in person.
"Okay. Then let's get to work," Tim grinned eagerly as he reached down to lift a pencil to make a note on Kim's diagrams. "And teach those losers you don't mess with a Possible."
Kim only nodded as she turned back to her own private laptop on a nearby desk in one corner of her expanding basement lab. It was time to start finally and truly saving the world.
Her world.

Dana walked into Amy's room looking completely normal, and Amy gaped as she looked up from her reading to see her there.
"We need to talk," Dana said somberly. "Someplace private?"
"Sure. Only how did you….?"
"Later. This is important," Dana told her.
"You know everyone thinks you still look like….? How are you going to explain that?"
"An experimental cure. One that only lasts for a certain time period, but maybe leading to a real cure later. I came to share the news," she said, but slowly shook her head. "To give you the hope we have we can still be okay in the future," she said and gave a faint nod.
"Okay. Okay. I know you. Let's go for a walk. There's a place we can be alone at this hour that's perfect."
"That sounds nice, too," Dana smiled at her, and daringly leaned over and kissed her cheek. "I've got a lot to say, too. It's been a crazy week."
"Crazier than that last….mess?"
"Lots crazier. Don't worry, I can make it make sense. I think. Anyway, mom trusts me with this, and I don't want to let her down."
"It's still kind of weird you calling Kim Possible your mom now."
"She's been more of a mom than that other woman has ever been," Dana told her as they walked out of her dorm room holding hands, and had to smile that no one paid any attention to the pair of them as they walked up the hall, out of the lobby, and headed for the back of the dorm toward a thinly wooded forest beyond a broken fence.
"We're not supposed to go out in the woods, but everyone does," Amy told her as they slipped through several broken and rotted slats.
"Especially couples," Dana suspected.
"Well…."
"How do you even know….?"
Amy paused and pointed back at the dorm.
"My window. I have spent a lot of time staring outside and daydreaming and seeing people slip past the fence to do….whatever," the other blonde smiled.
"Poor baby," Dana teased and squeezed her hand just a little more. "I do feel the same way. I really have missed you."
"Tell Kim I haven't changed my mind. I want to stay with you, Amy. I don't want to lose you…."
"Kim understands. She's just giving you time to maybe make peace with your past first."
"My past….?"
"We might have to disappear at any moment, Amy. That's why I'm here. Things have been happening lately, and it's not good news, she said and reached to her belt to tap something worn so it was masked by her top that covered the small device worn on her thin belt.
A moment later, Dana stood there looking like the vampiric being she had become again.
"This is the truth. Kim created these to help us disappear after a fashion. Just in case. If someone comes after us, we can push a button, and be….anyone," Dana said, and suddenly looked like Kim Possible herself. "See? You can store up to ten masks, Kim calls them, and be anyone you need to slip past someone looking for you. There's also another button to raise a force field if you get into trouble and can't slip away," she said, indicating the button on the opposite side of the device without touching it. "It also alerts mom so she can check on you, or…likely come bail you out."
"That's good. Only why are you showing me….?"
"Kim sent you one, too," she said, pulling out the device she had in her pocket. "You just have to download different looks you want by using the internet, or scanning people around you if you need to slip past trying to impersonate someone unlikely to raise suspicions."
"Okay, but that doesn't…."
"She found out her near-death and all the recent trouble? It's from people in power. People way up high. Only she's not taking it lying down. She's going after them, Amy, and I don't think she plans on taking prisoners. She doesn't want anyone connected to her to end up targeted trying to control her. That's us. So watch your back, and take this. Just in case. You need anything, and I mean anything, you call us at once. Okay," Dana asked, and held out the small device.
"Maybe…. You'd better show me how to work that thing again," Amy said as she glanced around uneasily now.
"Sure. It's pretty easy, and need I say don't let anyone know about it. This is for all our safety. If no one knows about it, no one can predict how you can slip away if they do try coming after you."
"What about you guys? Would they….?"
"We'll be fine. Remember, we have Shego helping to watch our backs now, and Kim's friend is a real ninja. Not to mention, mom is pretty hard to stop herself."
"She…died…."
"And was reborn. She's much harder to stop now. And I'm her heir after a fashion, so I'm getting tougher every day myself," she smiled. "You just take care of yourself, Amy. I….I don't want to know how mom felt when Monique died," she said quietly.
Amy hugged her after taking the device Dana still held, and then said, "I'm going nowhere. Now, show me how this works. Just in case. Just promise me you'll be careful out there."
"You can count on it. I want to live a long, happy life, sweetheart," Dana told her. "However it happens, I just want you."
"I'll be waiting for you, because that's all I want, too. You and me, happily ever after."
"You still watch Disney," Dana teased now, smiling at her.
"Only the good stuff," Amy protested.
"Okay. Okay. Let me show you this thing," she told her girlfriend, and you can use yours once I do to make sure you have it down. Ready?"
"Ready," Amy smiled at her.
"Just remember you will still sound like yourself, so be careful about talking to anyone that knows you if you're in disguise. Now, to start with…."
To Be Continued….
