Hey yall! No this is not a story update nor is it a sequel update and I am SO sorry for that. BUT! For those of you that enjoyed this story, new and old readers, I have created another new OC character pairing story on my other account. Loveyourselfxoxo. It is an Emmett/OC pairing and I am kind of obsessed with it currently, and I would appreciate it if you were to all go and check it out. I did include the first chapter here, and I promise it gets better. It's a slow build. Love each and every one of you xoxo.
Chapter One
I did not see her, but I smelt her. The sweet smell of vanilla and lilies wafted into the cafeteria. I took a deep inhale of the scent, eye closed in ecstasy. Whoever this girl was, she smelt amazing.
"Emmett, control yourself, please." Jasper, my brother, growled, pinching his eyes closed in concentration to try and ignore the arousal I was feeling from pure scent alone. I rolled my eyes and looked toward the main doors in the cafeteria.
A girl with light blonde hair and bright green eyes was smiling, laughing at something Renesme was saying to her. Her laugh was not like any other girls' laugh, it didn't sound like bells or musical. It was loud, obnoxious, and she snorted. But to me it was the best sound in the entire world. I was lost to the sights and sounds around me, lost to what my family was trying to convey to me. All that mattered was this girl, this enigma that just wafted into my life.
Alice, my sister, believed there was always one perfect person out there for everyone, either we met them, or we did not. And if you were lucky enough to meet them, you did not let them get away.
My family, though very unusual, was lucky enough to have been able to meet their one person. Albeit, if we were human, we probably would not have been as lucky. Alice had Jasper, Edward had Bella, Carlisle had Esme, and I had thought that I had Rosalie. But I was wrong. I had left Rosalie some years back when her usual bitchiness became overbearing and downright cruel. It had made me realize what I was do blind to for so many years, that we were too different. Too unaware of how toxic we were for each other. I was willing to keep trying, to keep fighting for our forever with each other. Until Alice had told me of her vision. Of mine and Rosalie's inevitable break up. After that, I ended things, and she had left. And we had not heard from her since. We caught wind she was with our distant cousins in Denali, but that was a while ago.
Being vampires had their perks, like some of us having super badass gifts. Alice was able to see the future. Jasper, Alice's forever, was an empath, with the ability to feel and manipulate emotions. Edward was a mind reader, while his wife, Bella, was a mind shield. Their daughter, Renesme, was gifted as well. Being able to show you memories with a single touch. Like I said, my family was unusual. But unlike the vampires in the book Dracula, we do not burn in the sun, we do not sleep in coffins, and we can't die with a wooden stake to the heart. The blood thing, however, was another story. We needed blood to sustain our thirst, but instead of feeding off humans, we fed from animals. It was the only thing that made us feel remotely human. Something we all desperately clung onto.
"What's got you all riled up, Em?" I locked eyes with Alice, who had a knowing glint in her eyes. I quirked an eyebrow at her and turned my attention back to Renesme and the mystery girl that was in the lunch line with her. "Oh, I see. So, Edward isn't the only one that likes his women of the human variety." I shook my head at her words and continued to focus my eyes on the girl.
I watched her pick and choose her way through the line where she bid Renesme a goodbye and moved to sit with a group of other juniors at a table across the room. Renesme made her way to our table and plopped into a seat next to her mother.
"Who's your friend, Ness?" Alice asked, quirking her brow at me.
"Oh! That's Hanna, she just moved here from Tennessee a few days ago. We have music together, she's really nice and probably the coolest person I have ever met." I was entranced on every word that came out of my niece's mouth, wanting to know as much as I could about this Hanna girl.
"How come this is the first we're hearing of her?" Bella asked, smoothing back a stray piece of hair from Renesme's face.
"Because this is the first time we've actually spoken to each other. She's really outspoken and she actually kind of intimidates me."
"Darling, you have no reason to be intimidated. You're beautiful," Edward soothed.
"That is not why she intimidates me, dad. It's hard to explain." Ness rolled her eyes at her father, causing Bella to smirk.
"Tell me everything," I asked, leaning forward on the table.
~~~Finding Home~~~
By the time the school day had ended, I had learned a considerable amount about this Hanna girl. Whilst doing so, I realized just how horrible it was to learn all these characteristics and habits of hers without having a conversation with her. Which is why I found myself leaning against the main doors to the school, waiting for her to come outside.
Now, if this were twenty years ago, I never would have been so invested in some human. Given Bella and Edward's love story, my family and I have grown considerably warmer toward humanity. We were not as standoffish as we once were, and we interacted more to fit in. Thanks to Bella's insightful tips, no one batted their eyelashes at the weird new kids anymore.
"Promise me you'll at least think about it? We have practice tomorrow after school if you decide to come try!" A petite girl with bright red hair that could only be obtained from dye, came out of the doors with Hanna in tow.
"Alright, alright. I will think on it, but don't get your hopes up okay, Leanne? It's a lot of pressure." Her voice was gravelly, like she was getting sick. Nothing like you would expect from a pretty girl.
"It's just, we need you. Our soccer team has been a disaster for forever!"
"Well, that sounds like a personal problem. I told you I would think about it, now stop pestering me about it, or it'll be a no." Hanna sent a pointed look at Leanne's face and continued to walk away from her, leaving her gawking in the middle of the breezeway. I smirked and had no trouble catching up with the feisty blonde.
"Hey, wait up!" I called, easily falling in step beside her.
"Hi," she said, surprised.
"I'm Emmett, and you are?"
"Hanna," she stopped at the edge of the sidewalk and turned to look up at me. She was not as tall as Rosalie was, but she wasn't nearly as short as Bella and Alice were. She stuck her hand out for me to shake and it took me a second to look away from her moss green eyes and take her small, delicate human hand in mine and bring it to my lips.
"It's very nice to meet you, Hanna." Her cheeks turned a peachy rose color and then it vanished, and her eyebrows knitted together and I let her yank her hand from me. She stuffed her fists in the pocket of her sweatshirt and turned her body slightly toward the car lot.
"Likewise, I'll see you around." And then she was gone.
~~~Finding Home~~~
"You don't get it, Ali! She was completely turned off from my charm. I've never had any trouble charming any human in my life." I groaned and dropped backwards on top of Alice and Jasper's bed, my hands dragging down my face.
"Well, I gotta tell you. I really wish I could help, truly I do." Alice sighed ad she continued filling down her nails, showing me absolutely no remorse. How cruel. "I would hint at which direction you could go, but the version in my head is so much better." She laughed haughtily at me. I growled gently at her before getting up and storming out of her room. Maybe Bella would be more inclined to help me out.
"Busy, Em!" I heard Edward shout from the upper level of the house, Bella's laugh following. I rolled my eyes and ventured into the kitchen where Esme was currently making Ness her dinner.
~~~Finding Home~~~
I was at a loss. None of my family members were inclined to help me out. Except for Ness, of course. But she could only do so much. Her and Jacob only saw each other every few weeks and I knew the distance was taking a toll on her. It wouldn't be long until Ness finished high school for the first time and then she could be with him back in Forks.
When Rose and I broke up, I was lost for a bit. I had left, took a long two-year isolation on the countryside. When I came back, I never expected to feel like this again. Like the first time I had seen Rose, when I was dying. This felt different, it wasn't like the singer between Edward and Bella, and that was weird. But it worked for them, and that's all that mattered. They went through hell to stay together and now they were happy. Everything else were minor details. I sighed and stared up at the stars. I could go hunting, to take my mind off Hanna. But I didn't want to. I just wanted to know her. Really know her, everything there was to know of her and about her. Ness shared me what she knew, and I was hooked. Now I knew what Edward meant when he said Bella was like his own personal brand of heroin. I was fucked.
I knew she had moved to Seattle from Los Angeles, California and she missed the sun and the heat and the surf. Sure, we were in the PNW and we had the coastline. But nothing like the hot sun beating down on you while you're out on the water. I understood. Moving from a place that was always sunny to where the sun was a rare occurrence was a culture shock. Ness also said she had played soccer and she was fantastic and then something happened and she quit. I wonder what it was, hopefully I could find out one day. There were so many things I wanted to know. I felt like an idiot, pining after a girl I didn't even know. A human one at that, fuck I was turning into Edward.
I shook myself of those thoughts and sat up on the roof of the house. I tuned my ears into the forest behind me. Once I heard what I was waiting for, I took off.
