Kim Possible: Vamped

Monique woke with an abruptness that stunned her.

One moment she seemed to be in a dreamless fugue, the world black and silent all around her, and the next she opened her eyes to a semi-familiar bedroom, and she could hear, see, and smell… Everything.

Something smelled really good, too.

She climbed out of bed, frowning as she didn't remember being naked.

Slowly, her mind began to absorb more recent memories. The shock of her death was still there. The attacking things that tore and chewed at her had seemingly torn at her very mind, too. Then she was suddenly alive again, and Kim was there, telling her she had given her a second chance.

If she wanted it. Because that second chance was going to be very different from her old life.

She followed her nose to the small cup with a napkin covering it that set on the nearby bureau and picked it up as she tossed the napkin aside. She had gulped it halfway down before she realized that thick, coppery liquid was blood.

She was drinking blood.

And it was just too good to stop.

Emptying the cup, she licked her full lips clean and looked around.

Something else smelled good in the air. Something not quite as good as that blood, but still tempting. She only then switched on the light, and looking around saw clothing left on a chair for her since she rather doubted Kim was the type to wear those garments.

Sheer, slinky lingerie. A short but modest sundress in dark blue with lacy trim. Even a pair of dark blue sandals with little flowers on the straps.

It was such a fashionable ensemble that she had to consider Kim had obviously gotten help arranging it. Much as she loved her BGFF she knew Kim still didn't have much taste when it came to clothing. Or any real concern unless someone was helping her.

She dressed, feeling surprisingly good considering all her memories now told her she had experienced according to Kim's stark revelation. Opening the door, she heard the voices in the kitchen arguing over what dishes to use, and then she stepped into the kitchen/dining area and smiled at the three women as Kim shook a fork at Shego.

"It's just a meal. Not a State Supper, or something," Kim was complaining. "Just use whatever."

"Shouldn't her first meal back be special," Shego complained.

"I think so," Dana agreed, grinning at the feuding pair that seemed to be the very strangest of friends so far as Monique had ever noted. "We are welcoming her to the fam…."

Dana trailed off as she realized Monique was standing behind them smirking at their banter.

"Monique," Dana cried, and rushed to hug her. "You look great," she went on. "Are you feeling okay?"

"I feel…pretty good," Monique assured her, smiling as she eyed Kim more than anyone else. "So, tell me. Who picked out my clothes?"

Kim blushed as Shego declared, "Guilty. Miss Loon over here was going to give you a pair of cargos and a tee."

Kim stood staring at the smiling woman, and Monique only smiled on, saying, "I guessed. She is consistent."

"Oh, yeah," Shego grinned.

"Did you get your….ah, medicine," Kim asked.

"That very tasty blood drink you left behind? Oh, yeah, I found it," Monique said as Shego hid her own reaction as Kim only smiled herself now. "When you first told me about you, I couldn't imagine having to drink it. Only that was…."

"Yeah. Ambrosia," Dana grinned.

"What she said," Kim nodded. "So, did you….make up your mind?"

"You have to ask," Monique asked, and rushed to her side in a blink of an eye, hugging her fiercely as Kim dropped the fork as she turned to meet her embrace. "Kimberly, I thought I was dead. I knew I was dead, and all I remembered was that I was never going to see you again. That's what hurts. If I can be with you, stay with you, I don't care how as long as we're together," she said.

"We're going to have to cover your presence," Kim said, stroking her dark mane back to kiss her lightly. "You can't be….you. Not while we're here."

"I know. I get that. I think we can manage. I mean, you do have all those toys you use. I'm sure you'll figure out something."

Dana and Shego eyed one another and burst into laughter.

"What," Kim sputtered.

"Kim invented this one when she was worried about me and Amy," Dana told her and pulled her elastic band to reveal the thin, metal box inside her waistband. "Watch," she said and pressed a button.

Monique gaped as suddenly a second Kim was standing there, and Dana declared, "She's still working on voices. But this lets you look like anyone you want to be. Anyone at all."

"Actually, I fixed the voice modulator so you adjust your voice now," Kim told them as Monique watched Dana go back to normal.

"And it also has a nifty force field so if anyone attacks you, they can't touch you."

"I could have sure used that when… How long has it….?"

"You were killed three weeks ago," Kim said quietly, still holding her as if holding something delicate.

"Well, I'm glad you could bring me back, GF," Monique smiled. "We'll figure out the rest later. Someone tell me what smells so good," she said, turning to eye the stove.

"Mexican lasagna with garlic-jalapeno rolls, and it is almost done," Shego grinned. "Princess suggested you didn't mind mixing flavors, so I figured something special for your first real night back among the living."

"Sounds good, and smells good," Monique smiled and looked around. "Can I help set the table?"

"We were…discussing that one," Monique was told as Dana giggled at Kim's expression.

"Hey, the food and the company are what is important. So let's slap down some plates, and get this feast underway," the dark-skinned vampire grinned.

"Oy. So she is a bit like you," Shego declared as she turned back to the cabinets. "I wondered."

"Hey," Kim sputtered as she turned to grab the usual dishes, not liking the delicate china her mother had given her back when it seemed she and Ron might still be a thing. She was actually a bit afraid she would end up breaking them. "I'm not that bad."

Shego glanced back at her as the timer on the oven went off, and drawled, "Right."

"So, you guys stopped those things," Monique asked as she helped set silverware out after Dana scooped up handfuls from a drawer, and passed them over as Kim started setting out plates and glasses. "You got rid of them?"

"Oh, yeah," Dana nodded. "You should have seen Shego. She made them go bye-bye once they rounded them up, and then mom put the big one down like spanking a child."

Shego just shook her head.

"Kids. I'm surrounded by kids."

"Aren't you lucky," Monique told her with a smile as Shego pulled out the casserole dish, and the aroma of the food filled the kitchen more than ever.

"We do have something else to talk about," Kim declared as they all set down, Shego parceling out the main dish after setting out the bread and filling their glasses with a cold tea.

"We do," Monique asked. "Pretty sure you covered pretty much everything last night, Kim," she said. "Or was there something more you missed?"

"Something I didn't know about. Your will. You left me your boutiques."

"Oh. Right," she said quietly.

"Being who I am, and not being….fashionably inclined….."

"I'll say," Shego muttered.

"I figured we could shape your cover to be someone I hired to run those boutiques for me," Kim told Monique. "What do you think?"

"That's actually a pretty good idea," Dana enthused.

"Yeah. How did you come up with it," Shego asked?

Kim glared again.

"That would be great. I just don't know about…. Don't I have to sleep days, and….?"

"It will take time for you to build your strength," Kim told her, "But since you're reborn by my blood," she said, saying nothing of the dragon heart. "You'll share my own strengths even if you won't be a true Elder until you mature. Much later, I'm afraid. Still, you will share my ability to survive daylight and resist some of the usual banes."

"So, it wasn't really Wade's serum?"

Kim eyed Dana and shook her head.

"It took me a while to figure it out. You reacted to his serum like a placebo, and actually just allowed what was already in you to surge earlier than expected. Just like you'll one day manifest as a true Elder, you already share some of my other strengths, I think you've noticed."

"Oh, yeah. That's kind of neat," she beamed. Then she turned to Monique, and said, "Just don't forget to drink at least once a week. We really do need…that stuff," she said with a glance at Shego.

"I know you drink blood, kiddo. Or at least a blood substitute. You don't have to dance around it."

"We had a few agents that were…are a bit sensitive about it," Dana told her. "I got used to being careful about mentioning some things."

"Ignore them," Kim snorted. "Meanwhile, any new talk about the Council?"

"Well, rumors are that the U.N. is starting to look for replacements already, but a lot of people are questioning the value of those kinds of strings on GJ since they're supposed to be an independent law enforcement agency anyway."

"Wait, what," Monique frowned.

"Oh, right. I didn't mention that one," Kim told her. "We found out GJ's Council that ran GJ were the ones that tried to kill me, Ron, and even Shego. Turns out they were the heart of corruption that kept shutting down half our missions," she said in disgust.

"Whoa. That is seriously wrong," Monique exclaimed. "I hope you got them arrested or something."

"Or something," Kim smiled now, looking very satisfied.

"Don't get her started," Shego groaned. "Okay, if everyone is about finished, who wants dessert," she asked after she realized they had devoured most of the casserole when she had half expected there to be far more leftovers.

"Something good," Dana asked.

"Something chocolate," Monique asked hopefully.

Kim just smiled, shoving her empty plate aside.

"Bowls," Shego stabbed a finger at Kim.

"Forks or spoons," Dana asked, jumping up.

"Spoons," Shego said, going to the big fridge that had replaced the smaller appliance Kim had once possessed.

"What did you make," Kim asked as Shego lifted the larger bowl from the fridge.

"Rum-flavored chocolate mousse," she declared and set the cream-topped dessert in the center of the table.

"Dibs on licking the bowl," Kim shouted.

"No fair," Dana cried. "I want dibs!"

"My celebration, my bowl," Monique said, her crimson-tinged dark eyes fixed on that bowl.

"Kids," Shego groaned. "Nothing but children."

Which prompted a lot of laughter as they began to fill the bowls with the creamy confection that Shego had prepared in secret to keep it a surprise.

Still, Shego smiled as they all ate and enjoyed the dessert as they relaxed for a rare occasion, and celebrated Monique rejoining them. None of them said a word when Kim asked Monique to join her in the lab to fine-tune her own holo-mask.

Dana stayed up to help Shego clean up the residue from their feast, and then headed for her room to do some studying, and likely chatting with Amy since this was a night off for her. Shego went to watch a movie after everything was cleaned up and put away and was still watching a favored oldie when she heard Kim and Monique coming out of the basement giggling before Kim's door opened and shut.

She didn't have to guess the pair weren't going to be coming out anytime soon.
