Eyes greener than a Dino

Chapter 1

Sakura's POV

Ino-chan couldn't meet her today; she had training with her daddy.

"I forgot to tell you yesterday, 'cause we were having so much fun… "

If Sakura had known she would have stayed at home. Ino-chan was her only friend, without her, there was no point for Sakura to be out. Nobody wanted to play with her, Sakura was a weird kid by everyone's (except her family and Ino) standards, she had light green eyes and pink hair, but most importantly she had a-

"Forehead! Look at her forehead! It's the widest I've ever seen."

"Wow! I'm pretty sure that everyone from Konoha could live on it - It's so big!"

Although Ino-chan told her to be proud, to be strong, to be herself. Sakura was just a civilian girl, she had no superpower, she was bad at sports - even when she tried hard! Sakura was also terrified of people, she was used to only her parents and herself, but Konoha was so big and the playground had too many people; she was lost, never knowing who she should approach.

A socially awkward pink-haired civilian girl with a large forehead, that was how Haruno Sakura would introduce herself.

The red ribbon Ino-chan gifted her was lying on the ground - Amy and her friends had detached it few minutes before the bully's brother found Sakura. He hadn't helped her, no, that would have been a weird parallel dimension where she was Hokage; Amy's brother and his friend had thrown rocks at her. It was supposed to be her punishment.

"W-w-why are you hitting me? I didn't do anything to you…" asked the pink-haired child as she mustered some of her courage which had been buried deep, deep, deep down.

Sakura couldn't understand why they were hurting her. Her mom would have told her it was because she was prettier than them and they were jealous of her.

"Why? There is no particular reason Forehead girl. Your existence is annoying."

Ino-chan would have told her she had to show them her strength and fight back.

Sakura would have loved to have her pale blond-haired friend by her side who always managed to stop Amy.

"If you don't stop bullying Sakura, I will make you regret it!" Sakura could imagine Ino's voice interrupting the sharp rocks cutting across her skin, however, her friend didn't appear.

"Your friend - that Yamanaka girl - she told on Amy-Chan and mom grounded her."

He gazed coldly at her.

"As her brother, it's my job to protect her. Because I am gonna be a Shinobi and you - as a civilian - should know your place. "

Sakura didn't look up. Her messy pink hair protecting her face allowed her only to see the bullies' shoes. Maybe she could try to avoid their punches? proposed a small voice in her head, but she didn't have that much courage.

Then, she heard new footsteps.

"Oy Kanzaki, it's an Uchiha, we should go."

One of the bullies slowly distanced himself from her.

"Shit. He must have heard about the pink freak."

"Kanz'ki, d'you think he'll report us?"

"No way Yota, he is a clan kid, he must have heard about the civilian kid playing on the ninja side of the park."

They were all starting to go away.

Sakura only hugged herself. She was already tired, she didn't need to be scolded by an Uchiha.

"Oy Kanzaki, Yota, he's glaring at us!"

Their feet were out of her range.

"Shit, if he uses his freaky eyes we're done for! Let's go Mori, Yota."

"S-sure Kanz'ki! "

The bullies were running away from her, however, Sakura was still trembling. The Uchiha was walking toward her, she could now see his shoes, a nice brand made for ninjas. He moved forward taking something from the ground and came back. His pale hand was now in front of her with the red bandana gifted to her by Ino-chan. She took it slowly without meeting his eyes, her pink hair still hiding her face.

"A-arigato." slowly murmured the girl as she overcame the lump caught in her throat.

"So this is a civilian. You are really weak." said the Uchiha.

That. That was mean.

She lifted her head suddenly gaining courage out of nowhere, her glaring green eyes darkened and fiercely met the condescending black orbs of the boy in front of her.

"You- your eyes!" shouted the boy, his eyes and tone full of surprise.

His pale hand pushed her pink hair, and she flinched because she knew he would see it.

"Eep!" squeaked the girl as she pushed his hand. "D-don't look a-at me!" There was no way she was letting anyone else see her forehead again today.

But the young boy, who was the same size as her, was now scowling.

"Tch. I just wanted to see your eyes."

"Don't look at me, I am ugly!"

She screamed the truth that her mama, her papa, and Ino-chan wouldn't accept. The ugly truth that she faced every morning in front of the mirror, the ugly thing that everyone else seemed to see when Sakura walked around the village.

"What."

The pretty boy looked confused.

"I-it' s true, A-Amy and K-Kanzaki and their friends told me that it was a known fact. "

"What?"

Was this cute boy dumb? deadpanned her inner voice.

Sakura sighed as she got back on her feet, her body had finally stopped with the annoying trembling. She tied the bandana on her head - the gift from Ino-chan that she will try to wear proudly.

"You must be new in this playground. My name is Sakura… And the majority of the playground know of me because of my big forehead. Although, mama, papa, and Ino-chan disagree." added Sakura.

Sasuke's POV

Sasuke looked at her, she was the weirdest civilian girl he had ever seen, and the only one he had talked to. Maybe that's why his family rarely approached un-Uchiha civilians, they were weirdoes.

"Civilians are so weird and weak." assessed Sasuke.

There it was that green sparkle in her eyes.

"Civilians can be strong too!" loudly talked back the pink-haired girl.

Unbelievable.

"Prove it to me."

There was a moment of silence. The girl's gaze lost all determination and she withered like a weak flower, her eyes on the ground.

" I-I can't. I am not strong... I can't even sleep in the dark… An-and the bullies come even in my dreams… I, I am sorry. I can't show you civilians' strength… " weakly muttered the girl.

"Hn. If you were anyone else I would not be helping you. Come back here tomorrow at the same time." quickly said Sasuke as he walked home, his brother was waiting for him.

He went home and looked at it.

The girl, Sakura, she really had its color.

The day after, he finished his training and went back to the park.

His eyes scanned the area, some kids were playing in front of him, on the left side, he could sense some fangirls but she wasn't here. - He was disappointed.

"Tch."

He turned around to go back home when he saw pink on the corner of his eyes. On his right side, behind a tree, he got a glimpse of a small pink head.

Sasuke smirked, his Uchiha eyes were getting better. Aniki would be so proud.

He used all his ninja stealth to go toward her.

Success.

She was... sleeping. By the Lord of Tomatoes! How could she sleep when they had to meet.

He hesitated a few seconds, he had never woken someone else before, and should he wake her up or not? Hopefully, she will do the same as her Aniki, pick up his Chakra, and get up.

He gazed at her sleeping form, her forehead was a little larger than his and many other kids but it was not ugly. Her short pink hair was nice and looked soft, and that red bandana tied as a ribbon made her look like a small bunny.

Annoying.

He started to glare.

She was not getting up.

Right. She was a civilian, maybe she did not know about Chakra.

He poked her on her cheek.

Soft.

He blushed and scowled.

He pinched her nose.

After a few seconds, the girl opened her green eyes and her mouth gasped loudly for air.

She coughed and pouted, her green eyes glaring at him.

"I knew it."

So he was right!

"What?" she questioned softly.

"Your eyes, they are greener than Kaibutsu-kun! "

The only sound that was heard came from the children playing behind the tree.

"What?" confusedly muttered the cu- annoying girl.

He took the plush from his bag and gave it to her.

"Here. This is Kaibutsu-kun, my Dino. He was Aniki's and now he's mine. He protects me from nightmares. "

"What?"

Was she dumb?

He sighed.

"Aniki is the strongest Shinobi in the world, he will always protect me. He promised."

She took the Dinosaur but she still had that lost kitty look.

How annoying.

"You need it more than me, Kaibutsu-kun will protect you from the monsters and nightmares. Besides, when you are stronger, you can give it back to me. "

Her eyes didn't meet his, instead, they were moving and looking everywhere else. He didn't know why, but Sasuke would prefer that she looked at him more fiercely, as she did when he met her yesterday.

"But, hmm, how can you be sure that I will become strong?"

He sighed.

Couldn't she understand already? It was so obvious.

"Because your eyes are the prettiest green in the whole village. I always thought my Dino was a greener green than Konohagakure, but your eyes are the best green I've ever seen."

Now she was becoming pinker. And her eyes were still avoiding him.

"Hey, Sa-ku-ra protect my Dino okay?" slowly said Sasuke.

Her pale green eyes had that sparkle again.

Black met Green.

"I promise Uchiha-san."

He smirked at her determination.

"Call me Sasuke. Ja ne."

He turned around like his Aniki, smirk still in place.

He was getting strong and cool as Aniki.

Sakura's POV

"Papa, mama, I want to be a Shinobi!"

Mebuki and Kizashi blinked at the beaming face of their lovely daughter, her eyes were sparkling, her cheeks were the cutest pink, how can they say no to that face?

Sasuke's POV

"Ara, Sasuke-Chan where is your Dinosaur?"

Sasuke smirked like Fugaku.

"He's on a mission Okaa-san."
