Keith glowered as he stood hidden in the hallway, shrouded by the dark. He honestly couldn't believe he was about to do this, but Shiro was convinced that he was the one.

"We've already tried everyone else," the elder male expressed "It can't be the other two," Shiro pointed to the pictures of the roommates upon the wall before leveling on only one "He has to be it,"

Shiro had studied, he'd analyzed everything and everyone that crossed his path and he felt certain of his findings results. And that man never seemed to be wrong. They'd planned to do this meeting together but...

That was before Shiro just up and vanished on a mission, leaving Keith all alone to make the next move.

"This is so stupid," exhales Keith, eyes following as two figures exit and leave the targets room. His two best friends that always seemed to be there were finally giving Keith an open window of opportunity.

"Let's just get this over with," before Keith can talk himself out of it, he's emerging and walking towards the door.

The ravens arms crossed, scowl crossing his features "There's no way it's him, not in a million years is-"

As if the occupant inside had been summoned, the door opened. Revealing a tall Cuban brunette boy with ocean blue eyes.

Keith sighed, hands fidgeting inside his jacket pockets "McClain,"

The other stiffens for a few seconds before saluting finger guns, right eye winking as he smiles "Sup, Kogane?"

"I need your help with something," states Keith, still unbelieving to Shiro's theory.

Blue eyes stare as his hands reach inside to grab a brown jacket with yellow stripes just above the elbow, before giving a light tap on the Keith's shoulder "Lead the way, my man."

...

The first thing about Keith, he doesn't talk, ever. The first thing about McClain? He never stops talking.

"What's the problem my rival?"

The black haired male merely grunts, causing the other to frown.

"Ok, not saying, that's cool." Hands crossing behind his head, body leaning backwards "I guess whatever it is must be pretty big if you're asking for my help."

Still nothing

Blue eyes wander the desolate area "I don't think I've ever come out this far, usually I don't sneak out unless it's to meet up with Hunk and Pidge for our annual video game night."

Only the sound of walking footsteps.

"Wow, you really aren't much of a talker are you?" Giving a shake of his head "Fine, I can take a hint, no more talking, not from me, nope, this guy will be completely silent for the rest of this trip." Brunette Popping the P sound and miming to zip his mouth closed.

Five minutes later

"So ... What do you need help with and where exactly are we going?"

The pair had been walking the seemingly endless desert landscape for hours.

"Sunrise is coming soon and I am not getting another lecture from Iverson for being late or whatever he decides to yell at me for this time."

Keith growls, but still continues forward "Would you shut up already? You've been talking none stop since we started!"

"Hey, I was quiet for like a whole three minutes or something." McClain scoffs, arms crossing in front of his chest "If you'd just tell me exactly what you need me for then maybe I'd shut up."

Keith whirls around "Look, McClain-"

The Cuban holds his left pointer finger over Keith's lips "Uh-Uh, the names, Lance."

Keith pulls the finger away "Whatever, McClain! Would you just shut up for-"

"It's Lance," interrupts the brunette with a glare and straightening of his posture "L-A-N-C-E," teen sounding out each letter.

Keith throws his hands up in the air "Fine! Lance, I don't even know if I need you, but Shiro-"

Lance's eyes light up with confusion "Shiro? The Shirogane Takashi himself, asked for me? Isn't the guy missing?"

"Would you stop interrupting me?" Yells Keith in frustration

"Would you just skip to the point?" Rebuttals Lance. He had to admit that now he was truly interested if it involved his hero.

Keith sucks in a deep breath before the truth is spewing fourth. "Shiro thinks that you've been chosen as the pilot for the Blue lion that will help save the galaxy. I need to get you to your lion and us off this planet before the Galra find it or you."

Lance freezes in place, vacant stare and incredulous features meeting Keith's "Uh, huh ..."

Several seconds of silence pass before Lance is turning on his heel, proceeding to walk away.

"Lance!" Screams Keith, the man chasing after the retreating boy "Look, it's probably not even you, but-"

"Do you think this is funny?" Asks Lance basically out of nowhere as he whirls around "You dragged me all the way out here for nothing, as a joke, making me think and feel that I actually was important for something?"

"I never said this was a joke!" Declared Keith, the teen now jumping in front of Lance to stop his retreat. "If Shiro is right, then you're far more important than you know and you'll be in danger."

"Danger, huh? From some aliens that are plotting to conquer the Earth?" Lance shakes his head "Sure, I've just been mysteriously chosen to fly some lion that I've never heard about and save the entire galaxy! Yeah, not buying it, Keith."

"Damn it, Lance!" Screams Keith in anger, hands whipping through the air "Can't you be serious about anything for once in your life? All you do is mess around and goof off!"

For a millisecond, Keith was startled to see pain in Lance's eyes, but it's gone with a blink. Replaced by an icy narrowed glare "Oh, I'm serious," speaks Lance, teen attempting to get around Keith "Serious about getting back to the Garrison before you get me kicked out too! Wait ... You got kicked out, why are you even here?"

"I already explained why to you and I'm not doing it again!"

Lance takes in a deep, calming breath "Fine, you stay out here and do whatever it is your doing and I'm going back to the Garrison."

Keith simmers, but schools his facial expressions. They were at a cross roads, Keith needed Lance and Lance was refusing.

Shiro had warned him this could happen, only this scenario couldn't happen. Keith refused to allow it. This was his ticket to Shiro, Lance was going, whether he wanted to or not.
