All The Same

Elise walked down the hall to Kenny's hotel room. She had gotten up early to get ready for breakfast. This was her big opportunity to get to know his friend's better and hopefully make a good impression. She wanted to have a good relationship with her coworkers.

After a hot shower she blow dried her hair and styled it in loose waves. She had debated between several outfits before deciding on a white tiered, ruffled miniskirt with polka dots, black tights, a black cropped sweater, and white slip on sneakers with large white bows where the laces should be. She did her makeup with a light smokey eye and a raspberry colored lipstick.

She rapped lightly on the door when she reached her destination. She waited patiently for the door to open.

Kenny opened the door a moment later. He was dressed casually in jeans and a polo shirt. He smiled when he realized it was her. "Hey, I'm guessing you're ready. You look great." He complimented.

She felt her cheeks grow hot. "Thanks Kenny. That's sweet. Yea, I'm ready whenever you are."

"Just let me grab my wallet and key card." He left the door ajar and left to grab the times. Elise waited for him outside of the door, leaning against the wall.

When Kenny stepped out into the hall she stood up to her full height, "Thank you for inviting me. It really means a lot to me."

"Don't mention it. I wouldn't just leave you up here by yourself all morning."

"I am looking forward to the chance to get to know my coworkers better." Elise followed Kenny to the elevator. "Hopefully I make a good impression."

"Don't be nervous. You seemed to make a great impression last night. You are going to fit in just fine."

"Thanks." She smiled gratefully. They stepped on the elevator when the doors opened. They rode in silence down to the lobby where Kenny held the elevator door for her then led the way to the hotel bar and restaurant.

The Young Bucks, Cody, and Brandi were all already waiting for them outside the bar.

Matt and Nick had dressed casually like Kenny but Cody was wearing a suit and Brandi was wearing a pair of leather leggings, black heels and a long sleeve cropped sweater.

"Hey," Kenny smiled as they approached the group. "Looks like we weren't the last ones to arrive."

"You know Page - he will make his entrance eventually." Nick shrugged. "Hi Elise. Glad you could join us."

"I was so glad when Kenny texted to invite me. Thank you for having me." Elise smiled. "I look forward to getting to know you all better."

"You didn't get to meet my wife last night- she was so busy." Cody motioned to his wife. "Brandi, this is Kenny's friend Elise. Elise, my wife Brandi."

"It's so nice to meet you." Elise shook Brandi's hand and smiled.

"We're happy to have you with the company. Kenny has spoken very highly of you."

"How kind of him." Elise smiled.

"Hey!" Hangman Adam Page joined the group. He nodded toward Elise, "You brought the new girl."

"Her name is Elise." Kenny shook his head, "Don't worry he'll remember your name soon." he mumbled to Elise but the brunette just laughed.

"It's okay. New girl works for now. That's what I am after all." She shrugged. "I hope you don't mind?"

"Not at all." He shrugged his shoulders. "The more the merrier."

"Thank you."

"Okay enough chit chat. Let's eat. I'm starving." Matt said, grabbing the door that to the restaurant and holding it open.

Cody and Brandi led the way in and everyone followed behind. They were seated at a large table in the back where they could all talk. Elise sat down between Kenny and Brandi and a waitress came and took their drink orders.

The men quickly fell into a comfortable conversation while they waited for her to bring their drinks.

"So, Elise - tell me a little more about yourself." Brandi said as she mulled over the menu.

"Well, I'm the youngest in my family. I have an older brother and sister. Both of my parents were born in Korea and moved to America when they were young. I decided I wanted to be a wrestler after watching it with friends in middle and high school. I trained during college and after I graduated I was offered a contract by Stardom so I moved to Japan. I met Kenny over there and we became friends. What about you?"

Elise listened as Brandi talked a little bit about her life, signing with WWE, meeting Cody, and getting married.

"Sounds like it took a lot for you both to get here. It's so amazing how all of you are working with the Kahn's to start this new company. I'm honored to be a part of it."

"Thank you. We're happy to have you as part of the team." Brandi said as the waitress approached. She gave everyone their drinks and took their orders. "Are you happy to be back in the states?" Brandi asked.

"I love Japan and I loved living there but, I would be lying if I didn't admit I was happy to be closer to my family."

"I can imagine. It's hard being away from family." Brandi agreed.

Their conversation was interrupted when the waitress arrived, bring their drinks. Elise smiled gratefully and thanked her when she sat her drink in front of her. She took their meal orders before leaving for another boys were quick to resume their conversations, paying little attention to the two women at the table.

"Have you found a place yet?" Brandi asked after the waitress left.

"Well actually, Kenny and I have agreed to find a place together and split the rent. I never got my license before moving to Japan so it will be nice to be able to travel with Kenny to the shows. I'm looking forward to my new role. I did a fair bit of character work in Stardom but, being an interviewer is different. I had a lot of fun interviewing the talent and fans last night."

"From what I heard you did a wonderful job." Brandi smiled.

"She did. I did a short interview with her." Cody interjected.

Elise blushed. She hadn't realized that Cody had been listening to their conversation. "Thank you. I appreciate that."

Cody nodded and turned his attention back to Adam who was talking about the conference.

"It's going to be nice having another girl around. Every once in a while the boys' wives show up but, it's not often, seeing they have their own jobs or kids to attend to." Brandi said. "I love the boys but, you know how it is."

Elise nodded. "I get it. If the boys get to be too much - just let me know. I'll gladly hang out anytime." She said as the waitress approached, carrying a large tray with their meals.

Brandi nodded, "I'll remember that."

She thanked the waitress when she sat her blueberry pancakes down in front of her. She waited quietly while everyone else was given their food, simply grateful that she seemed to be fitting in well with everyone.

The group had started to disperse, wanting to go back to the rooms and pack for their flights. Cody and Brandi had been the first to leave. Elise had left shortly after. Kenny was left alone with Matt and Nick as Hangman Adam Page left the group to pack for his flight.

"I think I am going to have one more coffee before I go up to pack." Matt said.

"Not me. I'm going to head up too." Nick said, dropping some cash to cover his meal and his part of the tip on the table.

"What about you - are you leaving?" Matt asked Kenny.

"Nah. I think I'll have one more drink too. Then I have to pack for my flight to Florida."

"See you later, then." Nick nodded to them both before leaving the restaurant.

Matt signaled for the waitress who quickly approached the table. "Would you please refill our drinks?" He asked.

She smiled and nodded, "Of course. I'll be right back." She cleared off some of the empty dishes before disappearing to get their drinks.

"Matt - can I talk to you about something?" Kenny asked.

"Sure, what's up?" Matt asked, fiddling with an empty straw rapper as he focused on his friend.

"It's about Elise -"

Matt chuckled. "You've got it bad don't you?"

Kenny sighed, "Is it that obvious that I like her?"

"Well to us… yea. She doesn't seem to have a clue though." Matt shrugged. The waitress returned with their drinks and he thanked her. "What's the problem?"

"What should I do?" Kenny asked.

Matt shrugged, "If you like her as much as it seems you do - I would say ask her out. What's it going to hurt?" Matt took a sip of his coffee.

"It could make things really awkward at work - and at home seeing I offered to be her roommate."

Matt choked on his coffee when he began laughing. "Man you are doing everything ass backward."

Kenny groaned in frustration. "Not helping."

Matt regained his composure. "Dude, just tell her. I get the vibe that she likes you too. I mean she did pack up and move halfway across the world to take a job with a bunch of people she has never met because she trusts you."

"That doesn't mean she is interested in me. That just means she trusts my judgement as a friend."

Matt shook his head, "I think you've got a shot."

Kenny sighed. "Okay. I will tell her."

Matt clapped him on the back. "Good. Now don't stress about it. It's all good - aright?

Kenny nodded, "Alright." He picked up his drink and took a sip.

He just hoped Matt was right.

Elise was sitting by the window, with Kenny sitting to her left. She had her kindle open on her lap, in an attempt to read her new romance novel, but she was having trouble concentrating on the words.

She sighed in annoyance and flipped the cover closed.

Kenny looked up from the game he was playing, "Everything okay?"

"Honestly, not really."

Kenny paused his game and sat it down on his lap, "What's up? Maybe I can help."

"You're going to hate me. It's so awkward."

Kenny tilted his head slightly, curiosity getting the better of him. "What's awkward?"

Elise flipped her hair nervously and shook her head. "It's so stupid but, I have to ask you a favor. It's okay if you say no. I won't be upset."

"What do you need?"

"My parents want to meet you."

Kenny laughed, "What?"

"I know. I know. It's ridiculous. I told them there was nothing going on between us…" The comment earned a frown from the Winnipeg native. "Sorry, I mean I know we are friends and everything. I just meant that we aren't dating or anything… but, anyway. My parents are really traditional. . . they said if I am going to be staying with a man they would feel better if they got to meet him."

Kenny remained silent, fiddling with the gadget on his lap as he seemed to ponder the situation.

"It's really okay. You don't have to. I just said I would ask. I have no problem telling them no."

Kenny raked his fingers through his curly hair and took a deep breath. "No, no. Don't do that. I will meet them if it puts their minds at ease."

Elise gaped, "You're serious."

He smiled and nodded, "Yea. I mean. I get it. They are just worried about you. There's nothing wrong with that."

"Oh my gosh, Omega. I swear I could freaking kiss you right now. Thank you so much." She tossed her arms around him in a quick embrace but quickly pulled away when he tensed up. "Sorry, that was too much. I was just so shocked you said yes. I should have kept my hands to myself."

"No. It's okay. I was just surprised." He quickly grabbed his game off his lap. "Sorry."

"You have no reason to be sorry. I swear, you're my hero." Elise smiled and flipped her kindle cover back open, feeling a sense of ease wash over her.

Kenny and Elise had already looked at a townhouse in the city, a penthouse apartment, a beachfront cottage, and a two-story new construction in the suburbs of Orlando. They had both found things they had liked about every place but, none of them had been perfect. They had both liked the new construction and beachfront cottage the most.

Their realtor, who was hoping he could find them exactly what they were looking for, had made some changes to his choices after seeing what they liked and didn't like.

Kenny and Elise had just finished dinner at the hotel restaurant when Kenny's phone rang. He grabbed it out of the pocket of his shorts. While he was talking, Elise went to the bar to pay for their meal. She charged the meal on her credit card and then gave a hefty cash tip to the waitress.

When she walked back to the table,Kenny was already on his feet waiting for her. "Jay has another house to show us."

"I wonder what this one will be like?" She mused, following Kenny toward the door to the lobby.

"He said it's a beach cottage outside of the city." He grabbed the door and held it open for her. She thanked him as she stepped out into the hotel lobby. He led the way out of the hotel to their rental car. "Let's just hope it's a good contender." He said as he opened the driver's side door.

"I've got a good feeling about it." Elise smiled excitedly as she got in on the passenger's side.

20 minutes Kenny pulled up in front of the house.

"It looks adorable." Elise said as she unbuckled her seat belt.

"Its definitely unique."

They both got out of the car. The turquoise colored house was surrounded by a white picket fence with a gate. The yard was beautifully landscaped with tropical foliage. A wooden plank walkway covered the short distance to the porch. The front door was painted a vibrant pink. On the porch were two white rockers and a porch swing.

"Hey guys. I think I have a real contender for you with this one. It's charming but it has been completely updated, plus it has the plenty of space for you guys to have your own areas."

"It is absolutely adorable. I love the color scheme."

"The landscaping is nice. I like the stone and plants. It will be easy to maintain seeing we will be on the road a lot." Kenny added.

"The back is hassle free too. I'm really excited for you to see it." Jay opened the front door and motioned for them to go inside.

They walked right into the living room. "I love this flooring." Ellie pointed to the hard wood floors.

"I do too. This is a nice room. Those stairs are pretty colorful." Kenny pointed to the stairs, which had been painted in a variety of beachy colors.

"That will take some getting used to but, I kind of like it. It's unique." Elise shrugged.

"This cottage has a dry bar and a nice size kitchen." their realtor said as he led them to the open, eat in kitchen.

"It's cute. I like it. I could totally cook in here."

"I think you're more of a cook than I am." Kenny shrugged. "It's big and it's practical. I like it."

"Let me show you the upstairs then I can show you the backyard."

He led them through a large master with a beautiful on suite with blue tile floors, a separate shower, dual vanities and a large soaking tub. Next, he showed them a large second bedroom and another beautifully remodeled bathroom with a tiled shower, single vanity and built in storage. Once they had seen the entire upstairs he took led them to the back.

The entire yard was done as a large deck. In the center was a decent size pool in a pan handle shape.

"Over here we have a small office with french doors that leads right out onto the pool. It makes for a nice peaceful workspace." Jay led them to a separate, small octagon shaped room.

"This is really cute. Look at the floors." Elise said, pointing down at the hardwood floors that had been painted pink.

"It definitely gives a nice view when you are working - with all of the windows looking out at the plants and the pool."

"And across this way," Jay led them around the pool to another small building "Is a small guest house or pool house. Right now it is set up as a guest house."

"Wow, this is amazing. It is a great space."

"I like that there's another bathroom right by the pool. This would be a good spot if we ever had people visit." Kenny said.

"Yea, it's decorated beautifully."

Just outside the guest area was a small outdoor sectional.

"The only think I think I would add is a nice little fire pit here."

"It's Florida, what do we need a fire pit for?" Kenny laughed, shaking his head.

"Ambiance." Elise shrugged.

"We'll see." Kenny smiled.

"So do you guys think this is a contender?" The realtor asked.

"I would say so." Elise smiled.

"I agree. We're going to go back to the hotel and talk about it but, I really do like it."

"Me too." Elise smiled.

"Okay. I hope to hear from you soon." Jay shook both their hands before leading them back through the house.

Elise and Kenny said their goodbyes before getting into the car.

Elise buckled her seat belt. "I think that house will give us a lot to discuss."

"Me too. I think it is a strong contender, along with the other beach cottage and the new construction."

"I agree." Elise said. "How about we go back to the hotel and talk it over."

"Sounds like a plan to me." Kenny said as he started the engine and pulled away from the curb.
