OH MY PRIMUS I AM SO VERY SORRY GUYS! I know that it's been FOREVER. First, I got married, then we found out I was pregnant, then we moved, I fell and broke my tailbone while 3 months along, was informed that I was considered a 'high risk' pregnancy, then we moved again, I had my little one (Beautiful little girl who is so full of life I can't help but beam with pride while typing this), and finally we haven't had internet since we moved...
Yeah, that about covers it. I know, that's still no excuse, hence why I'm typing this out on my laptop, transferring it to my phone, and using my phone to post it.
Heh, heh, heh... anywho, here's the new chapter!
~.~ ~.~ ~.~
Savannah sighed as she wandered the hallways of the base. All was quiet around her for the first time in what seemed like forever, and she enjoyed it because she knew it wouldn't last. The Decepticons had been inactive, as far as she knew, for the first time in months, and for that Savannah was exceptionally happy. They had become quite a nuisance... and had pretty much announced to the rest of the world that the Earth had become home to an alien race. That had been a headache in and of itself. With the press coverage that was now happening, and the fact that the entirety of the worlds population demanded answers, someone had been forced to speak to the public on behalf of the Autobots. Not as a liaison, but from a public relations point of view. Who else was more qualified (and gained more sympathy from the public) than Savannah herself? At least that is what the council and the government had assumed. Unfortunately, they had been correct, the public had been shocked when the young blind woman had, albeit grudgingly, taken on the roll of gaining sympathy for the Autobots. The outraged outcry from the public about the fact that this secret had been kept from them for years, had turned into one of acceptance. The story of how they had gone to great lengths to save a single human had made the Autobots popular. Then someone (Savannah had been informed that the perpetrator had been found out and subsequently dealt with) had informed the media of the relationship between Savannah and Optimus. Instead of disturbing most of the public, however, this information had piqued their interest. Leading to several requests for interviews from the couple in question. These requests had been politely, but firmly, refused with a simple 'we prefer to keep our private lives private' in response. While there were a few groups that were horrified at the idea of a relationship between a human and an alien, the majority of the public either didn't care or simply ignored it. In Savannah's opinion, it didn't matter what anyone else thought about her relationship anyway. As long as she was happy she was going to continue being in said relationship, and she was happier than she had been in a long, long time. Savannah could only assume that Optimus was also happy, he never stated or showed otherwise (in fact other 'bots had approached Savannah to inform her of how often Optimus would brag about 'his human woman', which had caused Savannah's face to burn with slight embarrassment). All things considered, Savannah felt as if she was on cloud nine most of the time.
"Hey Savannah, how'd the last interview go?" The chipper voice of Jazz caught Savannah by surprise. She had been so wrapped up in her own thoughts that she hadn't thought to listen for anyone approaching her.
"I got asked if some of you would like to appear in a music video." Savannah stated blandly.
"Did you tell them yes?!" Jazz's excitement was palpable.
"As much as I would have liked to, it would be far too dangerous for any of you to appear and be filmed for a music video." Savannah turned towards the sabatuer. "It would put the cast and crew of the music video in danger, as well as put the Autobots in the video in danger."
Savannah could practically feel Jazz deflate and she sighed. While what she said was true, it would have been great publicity and would have made several bots happy to be able to work with humans.
"However..." Jazz was at attention again at Savannah's continuation. "I did speak with Prowl and get in touch with the musician's agent. They will be here, on base, at the end of the month for a photo shoot. He was especially interested in meeting with you Jazz."
Savannah barely had time to cover her ears in preparation for the excited 'whoop' that Jazz released.
"I gotta get a wash, and I'll ask Sunny to touch up my paint... and I gotta get waxed!" The third in command was definitely excited. "Savannah you're the best!"
And with that he was gone. Savannah sighed, and then wandered into one of the rec rooms. She chose a secluded corner and sat down before planting her head in her arms. The blind woman was exhausted, partly because of the PR nightmare that she was having to wade through, but mostly because she was still having nightmares. The one from the night before had reminded her of something that she needed more answers to. The human woman that had been at the Decepticon base, and the truth behind what she had said. Savannah knew that she needed to speak to Jazz about it, but she didn't know how to approach him on the subject. The young woman let out another deep sigh, and she sat up. Only to realize that she wasn't exactly alone in her corner anymore.
"Can I help you?" Savannah didn't recognize the sound of the spark, and the fact that she could hear a sparkbeat made it obvious that it wasn't a human.
"I do believe you can, Ms. Price."
Savannah stiffened, she recognized the voice as the human woman from the Decepticon base.
"How did you get in here?" Savannah asked quietly, she could very well have raised the alarm... but she still wanted answers. And this woman had been the one to keep her alive.
"The Autobots do not suspect humans, even though they should consider the idea." The woman's voice was also quiet. "Why have you not given me away?"
"Consider it repayment." Savannah was still confused, she could hear a sparkbeat... but this was a human woman. "You saved my life, therefore I will allow you to explain yourself."
"I thank you, Savannah Price." Savannah heard the faint sound of hair moving with the motion of a nod. "I was delivering the latest reports to lieutenant Jazz and wished to check on you. I wanted to make sure that you were still able to function after what the Decepticons did to you. I asked him but he suggested that I speak with you myself."
"How did he know that I knew who you were?"
"I reported that I spoke with you while you were on base, and that I gave you the knowledge of Soundwave and I being undercover."
"Why do you have a sparkbeat?" Savannah was unable to contain her curiosity about that single fact. The rest could wait, she needed to know.
"I was rescued by Soundwave when I was young. I was on my last breath and he transferred some of his spark energy into me so that I would live. He recognized the fact that I had very powerful, though latent, psychic abilities." The woman stated matter of factly. "He renamed me Lillith and took me on as his charge after his spark energy gave me life. He trained me to use my abilities that were released due to the spark energy, and I have been with him since."
Savannah was quiet as she took the information in, she had learned to not be surprised by anything having to do with the Cybertronian race anymore. There was far too much that humans had been taught were against the laws of physics that they could do. Such has shrinking matter, or forming a solid holoform.
"You already told me that Soundwave, his minicons..."
"Cassettes." Lillith interrupted Savannah. "They prefer to be called Cassettes at this time."
Savannah nodded in acceptance. "His Cassettes, and you are all undercover spies."
"This is correct."
"But you guys are so deep undercover that only Jazz knows that the group is on our side?"
"This is also correct." Lillith was so matter of fact that Savannah was caught slightly off guard. She sighed and touched the communicator in her ear. "Jazz, I need to speak with you."
On my way.
Savannah and Lillith sat in silence as they waited for Jazz to arrive. When his sparkbeat entered Savannah's hearing range she turned toward him.
"I see that Lilly found you."
"Please do not call me Lilly." Lillith stated with exasperation.
"So it's true." Savannah said with relief. "That's good to know."
"Yeah, but if you tell anyone else there would be trouble." Jazz sounded cheerful as he said it, but Savannah knew he was being deadly serious. "I trust you enough to know what nobody else does."
"Thank you for your trust Jazz, and I will not tell another living being." Savannah smiled, and then frowned. "Though, it might be difficult to keep this a secret from Optimus."
"I thought about that, and if he asks, tell him." Jazz shrugged. "But if he doesn't, then you aren't lying to him."
Savannah turned and stared in his general direction. She didn't like the idea of hiding information from Optimus, but there wasn't really anything that she could do. This was a closely guarded secret, and she wasn't about to destroy the trust that Jazz had given her.
"Okay Jazz." She finally sighed heavily. "I need to get back to the PR nightmare, and I'm sure Lillith needs to return to her duties as well."
"You got it." Jazz stated happily, though the slight dark undertone was still there. "Be safe, both of you."
Savannah didn't know what to make of Jazz's statement as he left the area, and then the thought occurred to her that something in Lillith's reports might pertain to her.
"What did he mean?" Savannah turned to her companion.
"The Decepticons are looking for openings. And they believe that they can capture or kill you in order to break Optimus Prime." Lillith's voice became quieter. "Do not leave base without a trusted ally."
"Didn't plan on it before that information, and definitely don't plan on it now." Savannah sat back in her seat. "Thank you for the information, Lillith. I hope you have safe travels back."
"Thank you, Ms. Price."
"Call me Savannah, everybody else does and if you don't it'll look suspicious."
"Very well Savannah, good day." And she was gone quicker than Savannah would have thought was possible.
The blind woman remained seated for several more minutes, and then stood. She had more work to do, but she couldn't help but feel as if something was amiss.
She felt in her heart that something was about to go wrong.
