Chapter 25

***The Next Day***

(Elena decided the next day, meaning today, that she would meet with a lawyer to draw up divorce papers for Linc. She couldn't wait to get him the hell out of her life and back with Christian. She should have been with Christian all along and divorced from Linc a long time ago)

(Elena made it a point to visit with her soon to be lover again today and tell him about her divorce news. That they can finally be together as nothing is holding them back)

(She walks into 'Grey Enterprises' and uses the elevator to go to his floor. Elena greets Courtney before walking past her. Once she's at Christian's door, she knocks before going in. She is caught off-guard to see that he is not alone and that he doesn't look happy)

Christian: "Elena, what are you doing here?"

(Elena sees the brown-haired young woman standing next to Christian by his office desk and narrows her eyes for a moment before smiling politely)

Elena: "Hello. You must be the new Editor that Christian hired."

(Ana couldn't help but grow curious at the woman in front of her. She briefly faces Christian before turning her attention back to Elena again)

Ana: "Hello. I'm Anastasia Steele. Yes, I'm the new Editor. I've been here a few weeks."

Elena: "Now I can finally put a name to the face. I've heard about you from Christian and my soon-to-be-ex."

Ana: (puzzled) "Uh…excuse me?"

(As Elena speaks, she looks directly at Christian and smirks)

Elena: "I've come to tell you, Christian, that we are about to have the life we have always wanted."

(Christian looks speechless! He was shocked at the way Elena said that in front of Ana! Christian glances between his future girl and his ex before facing Ana)

Christian: (polite smile) "Anastasia, can you give me and Elena a moment alone, please?"

Ana: (nods) "No problem, Mr. Grey." (to Elena) "Nice to meet you."

Elena: (smiles) "You, as well, Anastasia. I'm glad that I get to finally met the infamous Anastasia Steele."

(Ana couldn't help but grow uneasy at the way Elena was talking. After Ana departs the office, Christian makes sure the door is shut before glaring at his ex)

Christian: "Really, Elena? You couldn't be any more obvious?"

(Elena shrugs as she casually raises her hands to her sides)

Elena: "What? What'd I say that was so wrong?"

(Christian scoffs as he walks to his ex)

Christian: "How many times do I have to say it, Elena? I don't know how I can make it any clearer. You and I are done. We're finished. We're through. There's no more us. I don't want you anymore."

(Elena casually walks to her former lover until he's right in front of her)

Elena: (tilts her head) "Because of your brown-haired editor?"

(He looks at her for a few moments before rolling his eyes)

Christian: "Now you're just grasping at straws, Elena."

(Before Christian can successfully walk away, she gently takes his arm and pulls him closer to her until they're mere inches apart)

Elena: "I know you have fallen for the young woman, Christian. There's no denying that."

(Christian attempts to look away from Elena, but she rests her hand on his cheek and smiles sweetly)

Elena: "You don't love her more than you love me, do you, baby?"

(Without intending to, Christian was growing weak in the knees to Elena's gentle touches. Fuck, why does she do this to him. He could only imagine what Anastasia was thinking in regards to Elena's entrance)

***Hours Later***

(Christian was so glad to be done with work for the day. He desperately needed a sounding board and Taylor was just that person. The two men gather in Christian's office on the 2nd floor of his penthouse. Christian was in his desk chair and Taylor across from him)

Christian: (sighs) "Thank God you came. I thought I was going to go crazy."

Taylor: (tilts his head) "Yeah, you sounded like you needed to talk."

Christian: (raises his eyebrows) "You don't know the half of it, Taylor."

Taylor: (somewhat serious face) "What happened?"

Christian: (not amused) "Elena."

Taylor: (surprised) "Again?" (snorts) "What'd she do this time?"

(Christian leans back in his chair and rests his elbows on the arm of the chair, then crosses his hands like he's praying)

Christian: "What doesn't she do?"

Taylor: "Okay, what'd she do today?"

Christian: (sighs) "Well, Elena and Anastasia have now officially met."

Taylor: (eyes slightly widened) "Ooh, I'll bet Elena loved that encounter."

Christian: "She made it clear, in front of Anastasia, that her and I can finally be together."

Taylor: "I'm going to guess that she's either filing for divorce or has already done it. I wonder what changed? She's been threatening to do that for a while."

Christian: "Yeah, Ana was definitely caught off-guard by Elena's declaration. Ana's never met Elena and she doesn't know our history."

Taylor: (chuckles) "I'm sure if Elena has her way, Ana will soon. Just what you need, especially given your growing feelings for Miss Steele."

Christian: (glares at Taylor) "Don't remind me. I can't believe Elena's nerve. What? Did she think I was going to take her back right then and there? She's delusional, Taylor!"

Taylor: "Did you ask her if she filed for divorce?"

Christian: (sighs deeply in defeat) "Well, no, I didn't."

Taylor: "I bet if you ask her, she'll smile in satisfaction, because it means she's getting under your skin. That's what she wants."

Christian: (grumpily) "Yeah, well, I don't want that." (sighs deeply in frustration) "Damn it, Taylor! I wish she didn't still get under my skin! I hate it! I can't seem to shake the bitch, no matter what I do!"

(Christian gets up in a fury! He paces around the room)

Taylor: "It sounds like you still love her. Boss, she was the first woman you let yourself love. She's the first woman you let yourself go with. I believe she was your first attempt at a relationship."

Christian: "Yeah, she was."

(Taylor gets up from his chair and the two men face each other)

Christian: "She convinced me to try at a relationship and let my guard down. She let me believe that she was going to leave Linc. I was a fool, Taylor."

Taylor: "You weren't a fool, boss. You were in love. Love makes you do crazy and funny things."

Christian: (growls) "Yeah, well, I wish I wasn't still in love with her. I truly thought I was over her, Taylor."

Taylor: "It's like you're trying to fight your inner demons where she's concerned. Only you know whether or not you still love her."

Christian: "Elena drives me fucking crazy. She gets under my skin and she knows she does, too."

Taylor: (curiously) "How do you feel about Miss Steele?"

Christian: (sighs in defeat) "I think you know the answer to that one."

Taylor: (shrugs) "Maybe. Humor me, though."

(Christian sighs softly as he briefly looks down)

Christian: "Every time I see her, I grow weak in the knees." (smiles) "My heart skips a beat. She makes me feel so vulnerable. I want to be the best that I can be so she can be proud of me. She also makes me feel like I can do anything. She's always so beautiful, no matter what she wears. She makes me smile even if I'm having a bad day. The more she tells me about her life, the more I want to know. Taylor, she makes me feel alive. I can't stop thinking about her. Even when I try to, it's like my heart won't let me. I-I think…" (sighs) "Taylor…I'm in…"

Taylor: (encourages Christian) "Say the words, boss. I know you want to."

(Christian wipes his face as he briefly looks up to the ceiling before confessing to Taylor)

Christian: "I'm in love with her, Taylor. I'm in love with Anastasia Steele." (sighs) "Elena's finally divorcing Linc and it's what I've always wanted. But, I don't think she'll ever fully break free from Linc. I'm torn on what to do, Taylor. I love Anastasia, but Elena still has this pull over me. I wish I knew what to do."

***Kate & Ana's Apartment***

(Kate could tell that something was on Ana's mind…and it wasn't good. Ever since she got home from work the previous night, Ana was shaken. They sit on Ana's bed in her room)

Kate: (sighs sadly) "Talk to me, girl. What's wrong?"

Ana: "You look like you're in a good mood. I don't want to bring you down."

Kate: "We're always there for each other, Ana. We pick each other up when the other is down. I'm here for you."

Ana: (sighs) "Christian got a package the other night."

Kate: (mysterious look) "What kind of package?"

Ana: "There was a note that asked Christian if he knew 'what his little girlfriend's been up to' or something like that."

(Kate moves her eyes left and right without moving her head)

Kate: "Okay, that's weird."

Ana: (dull tone) "That's not all and here's the alarming part."

Kate: (nods) "Okay, go ahead. Something tells me that I'm not going to like this."

Ana: "Trust me, you won't." (sighs deeply) "In the package, there were two pictures."

Kate: (prepared voice) "Of?"

Ana: "It was pictures of the night that we accidentally killed Julian, your stepdad."

(Kate's eyes widen and her mouth opens in shock)

Kate: "WHAT THE FUCK?!"

Ana: (eyes widen & nods) "Mmm-hmmm. Yep."

Kate: "How the hell did Christian get those pictures? Christian doesn't know Jose or Jack, if he's the accomplice."

Ana: (shakes her head) "It doesn't make a difference if he knows them or not. The accomplice and Jose know I work for Christian and they want their money. This is their way of making it happen."

Kate: "What happened after Christian saw the photos?"

Ana: "He's been trying to get me to open up for a few days now as he knows something is bothering me. He asked me to stay late after work and asked me about them. I tried to downplay it and when that didn't work, I told him it wasn't his problem." (sighs) "Kate, I didn't want to drag him into this. He insisted, though."

Kate: "What'd he do?"

Ana: "He insisted on being there for me. He recruited his bodyguard, Jason Taylor. Taylor's very nice and they both assure me that they won't say or do anything without my consent. I believe them, Kate. I know I don't know Taylor and I'm still getting to know Christian. But, I feel like we can trust them." (hesitantly) "Please don't be mad."

Kate: (shakes her head) "I'm not mad, Ana. I just hate that the assholes felt the need to bring in the guy that you adore and his sidekick into the mix." (sighs) "What'd they do?"

Ana: "We looked at security cameras, but Christian didn't know who the delivery man was. I pretended I

didn't, either. I recognized the guy in the camera, Kate."

Kate: (shudders) "Who was it, Ana?"

Ana: (nods) "You know who I'm talking about." (serious tone) "I think it's time you and I confront the asshole. Taylor said he was going to look into the guy."

Kate: (snorts) "I'm sure if you told them who it was, the mystery guy wouldn't be so lucky right now."

Ana: "If possible, I want us to fix this on our own."

Kate: "I don't blame you."

Ana: "I don't know for sure if Jack is the accomplice, but it wouldn't surprise me."

Kate: (nods) "I think it's time we met with the fucker."

Ana: "Before we text Jose and set up a meeting with him and his accomplice, how's life going for you?"

Kate: (smiles) "I ran into Elliot again and we exchanged cell numbers. We got to know each other and found out that we have a lot in common. I found out a little twist about him."

Ana: (curiously) "Oh, yeah? What's that?"

Kate: "He's Christian's younger brother."

Ana: (surprised) "My Christian's younger brother?"

Kate: (chuckles) "The one and only. Small world, huh?"

Ana: (laughs) "Indeed."

Kate: (smirks) "I like how you referred to Christian as 'yours' when asking about Elliot. Too cute."

(Ana playfully rolls her eyes at Kate)

Ana: "Funny, funny. Would I like to be Christian's girl?" (nods) "Yes, But, not sure it'd ever happen."

Kate: "Keep believing, Steele. It'll happen when you least expect it."

Ana: (nods & smiles) "Maybe. But, at least you found your Prince Charming."

Kate: (giggles) "Very true."

(They get serious when Ana takes out her cell phone and scrolls down to Jose's number and texts him. After finishing it, she reads it out loud)

Ana: "'Time to meet. Bring your partner as it's time we came face to face."

Kate: (nods) "It's good and to the point. Time to meet the SOB."

(Ana sends the text and they're on pins and needles as they wait for a reply. After about thirty minutes, Ana's phone beeps. They check Ana's phone and see a text from Jose)

Jose: "Park. 30 minutes. Be prepared for the surprise of your life'."

(Ana and Kate sigh deeply as this was a long time coming. They get ready and leave the apartment. They knew it was the moment of truth. They'll finally know who the person that is working with Jose is)

(Ana and Kate arrive at the park and impatiently wait for the enemies. They hear some rustling of leaves coming towards them. They turn around to see Jose)

Kate: "Well, if it isn't the jackass. Took you long enough to get here."

Jose: "I'm here, aren't I?" (smirks evilly) "So, you are wondering who my accomplice is, huh?"

Ana: (hands on her hips) "What do you think, asshole?"

Jose: (laughs) "My, my my. Two ladies have quite an attitude."

(Kate gently pushes Ana out of the way and shouts at Jose)

Kate: "OKAY, DIPSHIT! TELL US WHO THE ACCOMPLICE IS!"

(Jose continues to laugh as he raises his hand to his mouth before putting it down and speaking)

Jose: "How about if I show you instead?"

(Before another word is spoken, both women feel a tap on their shoulders, causing them to turn around. Their eyes widen in shock and mouths open with their hands briefly on them before speaking)

Ana & Kate: (loudly) "YOU!"
