Hi, I know time travel fics aren't exactly the most original fics when it comes to Star Wars but I just finished The Force Unleashes and thought it would be interesting sending Galen Marek AKA Starkiller back to the past.
Wow, I can't believe this has over 1000 views already with over 50 followers/favourites, thank you all so much for the support. I honestly never expected the story to get this much attention so thank you all again for reading.
Special Shoutouts to Jason Vander Vlugt, GrandNinjaMasterRen and a guest for leaving reviews.
The last thing Starkiller had expected after his encounter with the Droideka was to literally run into the two Jedi, he watched as the younger mans eyes widened and he quickly backed away to the older man who Starkiller was sure must be Qui-Gon Jinn. He also spotted a Gungan hanging back behind the Jedi but decided to ignore him for now as Qui-Gon took a step forward, his eyes staring straight at him, completely focussed.
"So, you are the dark sider whose presence we felt." Qui-Gon stated as he cast a quick worried look at his padawan.
Starkiller nodded and crossed his arms as he kept his gaze firmly on the Jedi. "Yes, and you are the two Jedi I sensed."
"Indeed, I am Qui-Gon Jinn, and this is my padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi."
Obi-Wan remained silent as he watched his master converse so easily with the armoured Sith, the conversation was not on Obi-Wan's mind though, he was too busy glancing over all the intimidating armour the Sith was wearing. The Armor's helmet resembled the Ubese Bounty Hunter helmets with the Mandalorian T-shaped visor. The Sith wore a pair of armoured gauntlets and Obi-Wan could see that the armour covering his chest appeared more flexible to presumably not affect his movement.
There was also a series of leather belts that were the perfect size to hold a Lightsaber, many of which were already containing one making Obi-Wan wonder what had happened to the original owners. Below the belts, a series of multiple armour plates protected the user's waist and his legs were hidden by a combat skirt me making hard to tell what, if anything, was protecting the Sith's legs.
Both Qui-Gon and Starkiller could see that they weren't about to get an answer from the padawan who was still staring at the Sith. "Since you told me your names, you may know mine. I am Starkiller."
"Would that happen to be prefixed by Darth?
"Potentially." Starkillers gaze turned to the Gungan who had finally found the courage to step forward. "Who is your friend here?"
Now that he got a closer look Starkiller had to admit that the Gungan looked familiar, the Sith lord tried to think of when he could have met such a creature but he had never been exposed to anything more than a few images PROXY showed him. After a few moments though Starkiller quickly realised that many of the training droids that had been designed to kill him when he was younger looked exactly like this. This made Starkiller wonder why Darth Vader obviously hated this Gungan so much.
"Mesa called Jar Jar Binks, mesa their humble servant."
Starkiller suppressed a groan as that irritating statement alone made it clear why Vader hated the Gungan, Starkiller was honestly tempted to remove the Gungans tongue if he was going to have to put up with him for an extended period of time. Rather than deal with talking with the irritating Gungan more, Starkiller instead focussed back on the padawan who still seemed in shock.
"What's wrong with your padawan?"
"Ah, the large amount of dark side energy you flooded the force with has had quite a negative impact on my padawan. I can't imagine what it must have done to the younglings back in the temple." Qui-Gon stated as he looked off to the side hoping the children in the temple were okay.
The idea of his force presence being so overwhelming was a surprise to Starkiller, the training he had been subjected to had been all about killing opponents with the force or lightsaber. Little time had been given to learning about the force other than how to use it against people. Starkiller realised that the surge of Dark side energy must have been from when he used his force lightning earlier against the Droideka. A sense of guilt washed over Starkiller as he thought of the children, he had terrorised without even knowing it.
The Sith lords' shoulders drooped for a second, quick enough that no one but the most observant of people would notice. "I did not realise a little force lightning would release such a large burst of the dark side into the force. You have my apologies jedi, I was unaware my force presence was being projected so harshly. The… man who trained me never taught me that and I have never had to suppress it in the past because of that."
Qui-Gon was shocked that the Sith was apologising, he was already confusing everything he knew about the wielders of the dark side of the force. He had openly admitted to using the dark side but had apologised for flooding the force with dark side energy and by the way his shoulder had sagged ever so briefly it showed that he obviously regretted causing the younglings harm. Before Qui-Gon could respond, the Sith had already begun to walk away from them.
After a few moments Starkiller stopped and glanced over his shoulder beckoning the trio to follow him. "Come master Jedi, I know you are here for the same reason I am, to help the queen. I sent them ahead whilst I dealt with some Droideka, the queen and her entourage are nearing the hanger, we'd best hurry if we wish to leave with her."
A quick nod was received from Qui-Gon as he made to follow the Sith. "Come on Jar-Jar, Obi-Wan we must aid the queen."
Obi-Wan and Jar-Jar quickly caught up with Qui-Gon who was keeping his distance slight from the Sith lord, he was wary of the man even though the force was telling him that this Sith was surprisingly an ally. The force had never led Qui-Gon astray, so he was prepared to have faith in this Sith regardless of everything he had been told about them.
A nudge to his shoulder turned Qui-Gon's attention to his padawan. "We could strike him down while his back is turned master." Obi-Wan suggested, his anxiety over being near the Sith was clouding his thoughts.
"Try it Padawan and you will be begging for death by the time I'm done with you." Starkiller stated as he came to a stop and focussed his gaze on Obi-Wan who know that the Sith was glaring at him even with he helmet hiding his face.
A few tense moments passed by, Qui-Gon's hand slowly inched towards his lightsaber just in case anything happened however his concerns were unfounded as the Sith turned around and starting heading towards the hanger. His armoured boots hitting the floor a little harder with each step, occasionally cracking the ornate floors they were walking on. Jar-Jar moved a little closer to Qui-Gon Jinn, knowing that the older Jedi was his best chance of survival should the armoured man leading the way fight them.
"Hesa bery scary." Jar-Jar murmured hoping the intimidating man wouldn't hear him.
"All the more reason to stay on his good side." Qui-Gon replied.
"Does a Sith have a good side? He threatened me master." Obi-Wan asked incredulously.
"You did suggest killing him first Obi-Wan which may I remind you is not the Jedi way." Qui-Gon replied, a little surprised that his padawan would suggest that. A sigh escaped Qui-Gon as he caught up to Starkiller leaving a reprimanded Obi-Wan trailing behind.
Starkiller saw the Jedi appear beside him. "Your Padawan is a little on the rash side." He stated noticing the dejected look Qui-Gon's padawan was now wearing.
Qui-Gon briefly looked back at his padawan and chuckled. "Yes, yes he is. He's young and has probably spent too much time with me, I fear. I am not exactly the stereotypical Jedi."
"I'd gathered that by the way you hadn't tried to gut me when we met." Starkiller stated in a humorous tone.
"The force tells me you are no threat, so I shall trust in the force as I always have."
Starkiller found himself liking Qui-Gon Jinn already, he didn't follow the narrow-minded code of the Council by the sounds of it and had his own opinions on such matters. Most importantly though was his unconditional belief in the force, even though this man must have heard every scary story about the Sith he was still willing to walk side by side with one because he allows the force to guide him.
The rest of the journey to the hanger was spent in silence due to a combination of not wanting to alert any more droids to their location and everyone dealing with he events transpiring today. When they finally arrived at the hanger, they spotted Queen Amidala, Captain Panaka and the rest of the group all waiting outside. This time to Starkillers surprise it was the handmaiden that approached him rather than the Captain or the Queen.
"Lord Starkiller, we were beginning to worry that you had fallen." The handmaiden stated, a hint of concern evident in her voice.
"I appreciate the concern handmaiden, but it'll take more than some Trade Federation tin cans to kill me."
"So, it would appear. Are these the two Jedi you spoke of?"
Starkiller gave a quick nod and stepped aside allowing Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan to step forward, both Jedi bowing to the queen in respect. Though Starkiller couldn't help but notice how Qui-Gon had turned slightly as he bowed, he was mostly facing the Queen, but he was also glancing at the handmaiden. The Jedi clearly knew that the handmaiden was important confirming his own suspicions.
"Greetings Queen Amidala, my name is Qui-Gon Jinn, and this is my padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi."
"It would appear negotiations failed then." Sio Bibble interrupted.
"The negotiations never took place. We need to get Queen Amidala to Coruscant immediately."
"Starkiller suggested a similar plan." Captain Panaka stated as he opened the doors to the hanger just enough so that they could look inside. "The problem is that the hanger is full of droids, if we walk in their we'll be riddled with blaster fire. They've also captured some pilots that we'll need to free."
Starkiller looked around the hanger with a feeling akin to glee, it reminded him of when he'd been sent to kill Kota, so many items laying around or attached to the walls that he could use as weapons. It was a way to spice up the almost repetitive nature of slicing training droids apart, using the environment around him, tossing around anything he could turn into a weapon to kill anyone in his path. Sadly, he realised that this time he couldn't tear apart the building to destroy the droids, ripping items out of the walls to crush the droids may not give the Queen a great impression of him. So, he'd have to settle for carving them into pieces, something he could to machines with no remorse.
"Do you have a plan master Jedi?"
"Yes, Obi-Wan will free the pilots, I shall make sure the queen gets to the ship safely, and you can have fun with the rest of the droids."
A quick nod was the only response Starkiller gave as he snuck into the hanger and made his way over to the group of droids while the rest of the group slowly entered the hanger. Obi-Wan glanced at the Sith and then back to his master, a smile quickly appearing as he thought he'd realised what the plan truly was. "Excellent plan Master, if we are quick, we can get on the ship and leave the Sith here."
"We are not leaving him." Qui-Gon replied forcefully. "I have already told you that force is telling me he is not a threat to us right now."
"A wise decision Master Jedi, were you to leave the man who saved us behind it would not be a good reflection on your Order." Queen Amidala stated, the disapproval evident in her tone.
Obi-Wan was once again feeling a little dejected he'd now been reprimanded by his master, the queen of Naboo and a Sith Lord. This was not turning out to be a good day. With a sigh Ob-Wan split off from the group to free the pilots from the droids while his master approached the droids protecting the ship. The lead droid stood in the way and held up a robotic hand. "Halt!"
"I'm an ambassador to the Supreme Chancellor, I'm taking these people to Coruscant."
"Coruscant… Uh… that doesn't compute. Wait… You're under arrest!"
In an almost synchronised move Starkiller, Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi ignited their lightsabers. The former quickly started carving through the droid ranks, his red lightsaber almost a blur as machine parts started to litter the floor. At the same time Qui-Gon had cleaved the first droid in half and then deflected a few blasters rounds back at the ones standing behind them as Obi-Wan quickly dealt with the droids guarding the pilots.
The Jedi turned to face the rest of the droids but only saw the Sith lord surrounded by the broken bodies of every droid that had been on that side of the room. With the droids defeated the people of Naboo quickly boarded the sip apart from Sio Bibble who stood at the bottom of the ramp.
"There is no time to waste governor, get on the ship." Queen Amidala ordered.
The governor shook his head sadly. "I wish I could, but someone has to stay here and at least keep a semblance of order and try to protect our people. I shall buy as much time as I can, but it is down to you to save Naboo."
Before anyone could react to the man's decision, Sio Bibble quickly left the hangar, closing and locking the doors behind him preventing anyone from stopping him. This left everyone else to reluctantly get on the ship and hope that the governor would be unharmed by the Trade Federation, though based on what they'd seen today they weren't that hopeful.
As the ship took off Sio Bibble made as much noise as he could through the palace halls to draw attention away from the hangar until the sound of metallic footsteps closed in and a battalion of droids aimed their blasters at the governor. He held his hands up and allowed himself to be captured hoping that Queen Amidala would save them, he heard the tell-tale signs of the ship engines and looked out the window as the Queens transport left the planet. A sense of relief filled him as their last hope was still alive.
Alright and there is chapter 3. Again I admit that right now not much is changing but my hands are pretty much tied until we reach Coruscant. That's where the fun will really begin.
Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you'll stick around for another chapter.
