Before we get started... This story is, more or less, a practice lemon story, to see if I can do a lemon, and see if people, who are reading "Unlocking a Closed Heart", would want me or another writer to make the lemon scenes in the story. The lemon won't take place until much later, but it'll take place in the story.
Also... I know, it may not be accurate to how the plot goes like in the game. But hey, every Final Fantasy Game/storyline are all confusing and different from each other... If only they made, like, a manga for each Final Fantasy and/or TV/Episodes of all the Final Fantasy adventure, to properly explain to us on information the game may or may not give to us. That way, we can know what's canon... AND, to tell use if certain couples *Cough* TifaandCloud *Cough* are canon couple or not.
As for some of the pairings for the others (Excluding Gladiolus), for those who wonder why I would ship them... Know, in my opinion, they make a more compatible/possible couple pairings... Along with some moments the boys interacted with the girls... And NO! I don't view Gladiolus and Aranea being a possible couple (From what I gathered, they didn't spend much time with each other. Plus, she has her own group and I can see her being with either Biggs or Wedge [Even Ravus!], than Gladiolus!
Also, wanna say, trying to type how Cindy talks, isn't really easy. So, I did my best.
And yes, people. Basically, everything in the game is still (somewhat) the same. Including, weapon usage, magic, elemancy, etc... Only, that there are humans, and werewolves that live/coexist with each other. Now, everybody in the game is of the age they would be, in Chapter 14. Certain events may be different from the game, along with different changes and/or codes, rules and lifestyles. So, keep that in mind.
Anyway, without any further ado, let's begin.
In Insomnia, King Noctis Lucis Caelum and his Queen/Life-Mate, Lunafreya Nox Fleuret, rule over the city of a newly built Insomnia. After the death of his father, Regis Lucis Caelum and the fight against Niflheim, peace had been restored to their kingdom.
It was a major battle between Insomnia and Niflheim, humans and werewolves fighting amongst humans and werewolves... Against people that should've been their allies, but were really aiming to take down the old-king/wounded Alpha-Werewolf, in order to claim Insomnia for themselves.
Luckily, Noctis and his Brothers-in-Arms/Shields and Protectors/best friends, Gladiolus Amicitia, Ignis Scientia and Prompto Argentum, along with their remaining allies of his father's army, they've succeeding on taking down Niflheim and regain Noctis' kingdom.
And now, a whole year since their success, the kingdom is in a state of festivity, preparing for a glorious party for a very special occasion: Noctis and Lunafreya are going to become parents. They're both expecting their first litter of pups. Future heirs to the throne of their newly built kingdom.
Everyone is getting ready for a party, which would take place within a week and last for five days, to celebrate their king and queen's happiness on becoming parents. And, in charge of the decorating and the operating the festivity, are Prompto, Ignis and Gladiolus.
"Man, I can't believe it. Noct's, actually, going to be a dad!" Prompto cried out, smiling big from ear-to-ear, as he helped Gladiolus and some of the other werewolves to carry chairs to the tables.
Ignis, being in charge of gathering ingredients to help make food with the few humans and werewolves who are close to his culinary skills, smirked at the overly-excited blonde.
"Yes, it is quite a shock to us all." He replied, setting down his kitchen utensils on the table. "But, it is something that is to be expected, as he is required to have children to carry on the bloodline and tradition to take his place as king, should he end up falling into battle."
"Come on, Iggy. You know that's not going to happen." Gladiolus said, setting down a few of the chairs and putting them in their places. "He took down Iedolas Aldercapt, all on his own. He succeeded on taking down his enemy, who was three times his age and much more experienced in combat. There's no way he'll end up kicking the bucket, so easily, in battle... Though, he may end up dying from exhaustion, once the pups are able to morph and are running all over the place."
"Yeah. They're gonna run him to the ground, with the whole kingdom with him." Prompto agreed, snickering at the thought of Noctis being overrun by his own pups and start complaining about back pain, like an old man. "But, still, he's going to make a great dad. And, with Luna there, he's going to be A-OK. And the best part? We're all going to be uncles! Though, me and Gladdy will be uncles for a second time."
Gladiolus smirked at his friend's excitement. Even after ten years on waiting for Noctis to return and another year on rebuilding their territory, he's still like an overgrown puppy.
"Speaking of pups, aren't you and Cindy expecting to have your own pups to be born?" Ignis questioned the blonde.
Bringing up a topic that's just as easily exciting to the youngest of their group, Prompto puffed out how chest in pride.
"Yeah! According to the doctor, they'll be born somewhere at around Halloween, six days after mine!" He happily announced... Then, too overjoyed from the thought on being a parent, he morphed into a blonde-wolf, as tall as a fully-grown Chocobo and the size of a Garulet that's starting to grow in their tusks and entering it's first state on becoming a Garula, and let out a full-blown howl of joy. "I CAN'T WAIT TO BE A DAD!"
Ignis rolled his eyes at the younger-male inability to stay collective and allowed himself to be distracted... Though, he didn't have the heart to put a damper on his joy.
After all, it's every male-werewolf's greatest dream to find their Life-Mates and to have pups... They desire to have family of their own, created by themselves and their Life-Mate.
Then, with pups on his mind, Prompto turned to Ignis. On top of his head and sightly hanging over his face, being his fur, spiky and puffed out, just as his hair would be when he's a human.
"Hey, Iggy, will Coctura be able to bring our nephews to the party? It feels like forever, since we last saw the little guys!" He barked, wagging his tail in delight.
Now bringing up his mate and his sons, Ignis had a soft-smile on his face.
"They won't stay for the whole festivity, but the boys will be coming to participate in the meal and to play with the rest of the pups and human-children, before they need to go back home with their mother for their bedtime." He informed, as he and two humans started putting stacked up dishes on the table. "Although, my mate won't be able to stay awake for very long and may end up leaving early with the pups... Since she's carrying our second litter."
...
...
...With quick speed, Prompto ran for his friend and, jumping over the table, he slammed Ignis to the ground. He let out happy barks, his tail wagging, hitting the table and almost knocked the plates over, if the two humans didn't catch them in time.
"Ack! Prompto!" Ignis cried out, wincing and pushing at the face that's licking all over his face, pushing his glasses off his face with his nose... Revealing the burns he gained from putting on the Ring of the Lucii, and the state of his blindness.
"WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US, IGGY?!" Prompto barked, nuzzling his face against his friend/older-brother figure. "NOCT AND LUNA ARE GONNA FLIP, WHEN THEY HEAR YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE MORE PUPS!"
Irritated by his refusal to get off of him, Ignis morphed into his own wolf-form. Compared to Prompto's form, he's half a foot taller and seven inches longer, with light-brown fur-color. However, unlike Prompto, he, also, has a second lighter-color, from his lower-snout down to the underbelly of his stomach, over his limbs and paws, and underneath his tail. Also, that only part of his fur on top of his head would take the shape of the top of his hair would be as his human-self.
...Even in his wolf-form, the burns he received from the Ring of the Lucii are still as visible as the state of his blind eyes.
Startled by the transformation, Prompto ended up being grabbed by the neck and pulled to the ground, leaving himself being pinned by the older-werewolf.
"And this is the reason why I didn't say anything, when we should be focusing on the preparation to celebrate Noct and Luna's most cherished occasion." The wolf above Prompto replied, glaring down at the younger-wolf (Where he assumes Prompto's face would be [His assumption was correct]), lifted the front of his lips to expose the front of his teeth and raising his tail in the air. "Besides, I'd rather tell them of me and my mate expecting more pups of our own, once the party calms down and everybody finishes giving them their blessings."
Prompto knew that Ignis wouldn't hurt him, so he wasn't in the least intimidated by his dominate stance. Instead, he simply snorted at Ignis' attempt to act dominate, thumping his tail against the ground.
"Still, Iggy, you should've said something. At least, to Gladio and I." He said, before being allowed to roll to his stomach and getting back up. "If you want, me and Gladdy can look after the pups, if Coctura does end up getting too tired to stay. We'll be more than happy to keep them entertained, during the day. -He then got into a playful stance, wagging his tail in the air.- Heck, they'll have so much fun playing with their awesome uncles, they'll be too tired to complain about bedtime."
Ignis rolled his eyes at his friend's hyper mood.
"I'll keep that thought in mind, Prompto." He replied, before morphing back to his human-self, kneeling and gently shuffling his hands around in search for his shades. "Although, I would much rather Gladiolus be watching over the pups, than leave them in your care, unsupervised. I still hadn't gotten over the last time you babysat them, with the candy incident."
Prompto flashed him a wolf-smile.
"It was only that one time, Iggy! And I hadn't tried to give them any more sweets, since then!"
As the two continued their conversation, Gladiolus watches the two from where he stood.
...His smirk of a smile left his face, as a calm, yet disappointing, expression appeared on his face.
He couldn't help but feel envious towards his friends... Feel, somewhat, cheated.
They're all able to find their Life-Mates, there significant others, like every other male-werewolf that were able to find their Life-Mates, during the ten years that passed, and had already started families and/or beginning to start families of their own... Except for him.
Yes, many females, both humans and werewolves, finds him very attractive (Though, the female-werewolves don't try smitten with him, like the female-humans would.). And yes, many view him to being a great partner and excellent father, with how he's able to care for Ignis' pups and his little sister, while their father worked before he died, and has proven to become a great provider and protector to his Brother-in-Arms and members of the Crownsguard... But alas, none of the females were able to catch the thirty-four year-old's eyes. To see that one person to being his missing link.
His heart constricted from the thought of never getting the chance to find her, let alone meet her, if he were to one day fall into battle and die as an unmated werewolf... To never experience the joy and love on being a great husband... On being a loving, caring father, like his father was to him and his sister, before he and their mother died.
He let out a tiring sigh, before he pushes himself to get back to work and get more chairs for the tables.
The humans and other werewolves, who are, also, part of the Crownsguard, saw the broken look on his face. They knew what was bothering him, from how he watches Ignis and Prompto getting into conversation about their mates and pups. The werewolves truly felt sad for the Sworn Shield of their king. They, too, know how truly important it is for male-werewolves to find their female Life-Mates... How they desire to bond with their significant other, to spending the rest of their days with... To make a pack, a family, full of laugh and love, that will overcome any darkness and threat.
However, because the male-werewolves helping with the decoration are all mated to their own Life-Mates at an earlier time in their age, they know that they won't truly understand the pain that Gladiolus is going through. And even though werewolves can live much longer than humans, for every day that ticks by without ever having the comfort and love of a Life-Mate, the more their life feels like an eternity of being in an empty void.
All they can do, is hope and pray to whatever Astral or if Six is listening to bless their commander, their king's Sworn Shield, with the Life-Mate he's been seeking out for so long and to give him the chance to become a husband and father to pups he desires to have. They don't even care if his Life-Mate turns out to be a human, or even a Behemoth (Though, they really hope that it won't come to that.). Just as long as his Life-Mate is brought to him, and is finally able to be given the chance love and bond with his missing half that'll make him whole.
Eventually, Ignis and Prompto finally got their heads back to reality and went back to preparing for the banquet, with Prompto morphing back to his human-self.
"Any special idea on what kind of food we'll be eating, Iggy?" Prompto questioned, licking his lips on what delectable meal they'll be eating, already salivating for Ignis' cooking.
The older-male, holding his chin in his right-hand, simply pondered.
"I have been thinking on making a variety of healthy food choices, to ensure that Queen Lunafreya gets all her nutritional values for the pups." He answered, as he pulled out his own food recipe book from his pocket. "And, of course, I do plan to make many other tasty food for others who are more daring to have sugary sweets or to put more meat on their bones... However, -He stopped at the one page he's been looking for, memorizing all that he's written by heart.- there are a few ingredients that I'm in dire need of, in order to make enough for the whole kingdom to enjoy."
Prompto, ever so curious, leaned in to see what it was that his friend was staring at.
"Oh! What are they?! Are they something delicious?!" He asked, getting excited and hoping for a chance for them, excluding Noctis, to go out exploring for ingredients, like the good old days.
...
...
...
...His eyes widened and his face went pale, when he saw what was on Ignis' page.
"I would say, Prompto, that they're more of the prefect meals, that's to die for." The older-male answered, closing his book. "And while I, too, wish to venture out to complete our quest for the perfect dishes, I'm afraid that that task had already been taken. The goods and the ingredients will be delivered here, within a few days."
Prompto cocked his head to the side, intrigued and stunned by the news.
"Really? By who? Cor? The Kingsglaive?"
Ignis pulled out one of his knives, intending to sharpening it.
"No... Hunters."
With a quick swipe, sparks shot off the knife when he glided it across a metal-pole.
Elsewhere...
The Behemoth staggered backwards, yowling when a human slashed at its shoulder with his Dodanuki. It let out a roar, with a slight hissing in the cry.
It knew it was in deep trouble, and was going to die. If its horns hadn't been destroyed by the second human's gun, Quicksilver, it probably would've lasted longer against the human that cut him and deliver the finishing blow to kill him off.
The four humans cornered it against a wall of rock, cutting off its escape route. And yet, despite the pain in its forearm and the lost of its horns, the Behemoth wasn't going to go down. Not without a fight.
It roared, standing on its hind-legs, getting ready to make another attack on them.
The third human, wielding a Dragon Lance, turned to the fourth human that stood behind the group.
"Get ready." He informed the person, as he clenched tightly to his weapon.
The fourth person, focusing at the Behemoth before them, held a dagger in each of her hands: Spelldaggers, and Mage Mashers. She wasn't going to let this monster go. Not when she and her team, her brothers, had been given a bounty to take care of... And, the task to deliver its meat to Insomnia, for King Noctis and Queen Lunafreya.
The Behemoth slammed its forearms into the ground, letting out a mighty roar, before it got the strength to launch itself into the air.
Immediately, the one that used Quicksilver to shoot its horns off, brought out an Elemancy of Lightning.
"NOW!"
The human tossed the Elemancy at the Behemoth, hitting it square in the chest and releasing a mass amount of Electricity on the creature. Because of it being weak to Lightning, the Behemoth slammed to the ground, shaking and twitching from the electricity. And yet, it still has the strength to stagger to its feet and charge for the shooter.
"Now, Sarai (My Princess)!" The one wielding Dodanuki shouted, charging at the creature, his sword ready to draw blood and to weaken the monster's defense.
Hearing the cry of her name, Sarai brought out more daggers of both Spelldaggers, and Mage Mashers, in-between the gaps of her fingers. She, too, charged for the monster, ready to go in for the kill, knowing that her brother will be fine and get out of the way.
Just as she expected, her older-brother, wielding the Dragon Lance, thrust a powerful jab into the Behemoth's injured shoulder. Shattering the bone in its shoulder. The attack forced the monster to collapse, before the human took the chance to run away, barely missing the electricity that still travels all over its body.
The brother with the sword went for the tail, cutting it with ease, after lowering the Behemoth's defense just enough to slice through its hard defense. He left the finishing blow to his baby sister, who charged for the head.
Because the Elemancy was still in effect, the Electricity that travels through its body can, also, inflict damage on her. However, thanks to the gems her Mage Mashers possesses, she didn't take the full amount of damage and resisted a third of its strength. It was just enough for her to pinpoint the finishing blow to the great beast, before it could try and make another move on her and her brothers.
Running as fast she as could, Sarai tossed her daggers to the invisible marks she made in her head for them to go: In the joint-connection of its limbs to its body, the back of its ears, the underbelly of its neck, the top center of its paws... And then, for the finish touch, she stabbed her last two blades into the beast's eyes, as it let out a roar of agony and tried to bite her with its fangs.
...
...
...
...It let out a shuttering hiss... Then, its body went limp... Dead.
Sensing it no longer struggling and its breath had gone still, Sarai removed her daggers from its eye-sockets. She let out a deep sigh of relief, wiping away the blood that stained her weapon against her black wifebeater-shirt, not caring of the smell and/or stain she'll end up carrying.
A hand landed on her head, patting gently.
"Nicely done, baby sister!" Her oldest-brother praised, smiling down at her with pride.
"That was awesome!" The third brother commented, running over and wrapping his arms around Sarai's shoulders, giving her a big hug. "Our little Ra took down a Behemoth, all by herself!"
The second brother, brushing away the dirt off his clothes from sliding against the dirt to dodge the Behemoth's claws, smirked down at the quiet girl, who lowered her gaze to the ground.
"Yes, and let's not forget, if not for her Spelldaggers, we wouldn't had figured out that its weak to Lightning and Ice, from the first Behemoth we took down, two days ago." He added in, as he turned the safety of his gun on, before putting it away. "And now, we can get the payment of the bounty for this beast, the next time we comeback to town and take it's butchered remains to Insomnia."
The third brother, after pulling away from his sister, let out a big yawn.
"I still can't believe that the king got Queen Luna pregnant, so soon. And, with them being werewolves, there's no telling on how strong those pups of theirs are going to be, when they become adults." He pondered.
"Yeah, well, I just hope that we'll get a big pay, for hauling this bastard and the rest of the cargo that we still need to gather to the city." The oldest-brother replied, putting away his sword in order to fold both his arms over his head. "And since it's for his Royal Highness and his celebration on being a dad, we'll probably get something out of this. Maybe, even be allow to join the celebration, since they wouldn't have any Behemoth Steak or Zu Tender, if not for us!"
While her brothers talked about the thought of heading to Insomnia, Sarai went to retrieve her daggers from the beast's body. Honestly, she didn't really care if they do end up getting paid or be given some form of reward for their services... What she truly cares about, is that they get the meat and other ingredients to Insomnia, so that the king and queen will have a wonderful meal to enjoy themselves, to properly celebrate their first litter of pups.
She wiped at the sweat off her brows, letting out a tiring sigh. Sarai knew that it'll be a while, before somebody comes for the body. So, she decides to harvest whatever material she can get from the Behemoth's corpse.
Since her older-brother had shot the horns off, clean from its head, she knew they can get a great deal off of them by selling them and/or crafting them into some weapons. Its fangs and claws would, also, be useful for foraging daggers or smithing into a new accessory for increasing strength and/or vitality*.
Sarai brought out a few empty vials from her pocket, kneeling beside the beast's head, as she held the vial underneath one of its fangs. By collecting its saliva, she can either use it to enhance weapons to deliver poison that the Behemoth's saliva carries, or use it for her own experimentation on finding cure from its venom or even enhance its effects to bring down other monsters and creatures, with an easier strategy.
A hand rested on her back, revealing to being her big brother. He still had that smile on his face, pride and joy towards her accomplishment.
"Need some help?" He asked, as he removed the dagger that was embedded into the Behemoth's right-paw, presenting it to her, blood and all.
Sarai gave him a small-smile, gently taking the blade from his grasp and using it to cut into the skin and flesh of the monster to start removing the claws from its paw.
The eldest-brother chuckled at his sister's choice to not answer, as she would always do, and focus on harvesting parts of the Behemoth that they can use and/or sell.
He turned to his younger-brothers.
"Lupus (Wolf), Vitalis (Of life, Vital), get over here. We can't let Ra do all the hard work. Besides, we got plenty of time to kill, before the butcher comes." He told them, getting to his feet and, pulling out another one of his sister's daggers from the kill, went to remove the claws from the right hind-leg.
Neither of the two argued, as they came forth to remove the claws from the other-side of the monster.
"Still, it would be awesome, if we can participate in the party." The third-brother, Vitalis, continued with the conversation, pulling out a dagger from the left hind-leg and using it to dig through the flesh to cut through the bone and muscles that held the claws in place. "I mean, it's been a while since we last took a break. Plus, it would be nice to sleep in an actual bed, instead of in a cramp sleeping bag."
The second-brother, Lupus, smirked at his younger-brother's suggestion. Which, honestly, he isn't objecting to the idea on sleeping in a bed.
"It has been a long time, since we'd slept in a city or town." He replied, using the dagger embedded into the paw to remove the claw. "We may not be permitted to join in the festivity, but maybe, if it's possible, we can find a cheap hotel in Insomnia to rest for a day or two. We can all use a break, after we complete our hunts for the king and queen. Besides, -He looked over the head of the Behemoth, staring at their sister with a gaze full of worry.- we can all use a break, at least for one of us, from having to keep watch overnight in case daemons try to attack us when we sleep."
Sarai flinched at her older-brother's words, knowing they were directed towards her. And, as if to make a point to his reasoning, she let out a big yawn that came out of nowhere.
She jabbed her Mage Masher into the bone of the Behemoth's paw, ignoring the blood staining her hands, black short-jeans, legs and shoes and the smell of death. She didn't want them to worry about her, when her health isn't important right now.
...It's how it's always been, to Sarai. Other people first, then herself. No matter what. Even if she's been poisoned and bleeding profusely, she would push herself to the brink of death, for the sake and safety of others that request for her aid.
And it's because of her selflessness and inability to care for her own safety, her brothers had always been overprotective of her and always go through great lengths to make sure that she doesn't get herself killed... Like their parents.
By the time the siblings finished harvesting the Behemoth's claws, gathering enough of it's venom, along with a few of its blood, and extracting all of its fangs and hauling the horns to their pile, a large-van, pulling in a large-livestock trailer behind it, finally came.
It was another hunter, that's been tasked to stay in charge of a town nearby the area, that came to inspect the corpse of the beast they took down. Accompanying him, in the van, was the butcher, himself.
Pulling out the wanted poster that was display out for killing a specific Behemoth called "River Blood Drinker" and, after identify and the beast to being the exact the Behemoth that was on the wanted list, the hunter turned to the four siblings and nodded his head in approval.
"Great job," he praised. "Monster been killing off a bunch of travelers and twenty of our great men, for almost five months. Nice to see the beast has finally been brought down."
Vitalis smirked in pride, folding both of his arms behind his head.
"It was no problem, at all." He stated, acting cocky. "Hell, are baby sister put up more of a fight than it did. And she's the one who brought down the finishing blow, to put this bastard out of its misery."
Sarai blushed and embarrassment when her older-brother told the hunter that she killed the Behemoth. She merely look down and turned her face to the side, her shoulder-length, wavy brownish-black hair, that was in a ponytail during the fight, covered her face so she didn't have to see any of them staring at her.
The hunter, having to know the four siblings for over six years, smiled softly at her.
'She may have grown into a beautiful eighteen year-old woman, but she's still just as shy and quiet as she ever been.'
And she truly was beautiful... Even, if many would say the exact opposite: Despite being eighteen, she only grew to be about five-feet tall, which was between the average height of a twelve and a thirteen year-old female. Her chest is a size B, from all her training and traveling with her brothers, which would leave her to not consume much and to ration her meals. Her skin a medium-tan, from being out in the sun a lot. Her eyes a Forest-green color, making her gaze feel majestic, like an exotic animal.
...The issue is that many look down upon her, because of the scars she carries... All being scratches, bite and jab-marks, she gained from a Voretooth pack... She received those wounds, at the age of five.
They scattered all over her: From her left-cheek, to her neck, arms, hands, chest, back, legs and even her feet. Most of them were claw-marks, with eight of them being bite-marks and a few of them being jab-marks from their tails, when administrating their poison into her body.
...It was a miracle that she held on, before help finally arrived and saved her, within minutes from dying. The only reason she was even still alive and was able to escape, from her own recollection, was because an Anak Calf wondered into the Voretooth's territory and, when the pack caught its sent and heard its cry, abandoned the girl for larger prey to consume over a snack that would only fill the Alpha's belly.
He turned to the butcher that awaited inside the van, giving him the thumbs up that the beast has been identified as River Blood Drinker and is put down. The hunter turned back to the siblings.
"The gil and the bonus items that goes with the reward, will wait for you when you turn in the report." He informed to them. "Although, I have a hunch that you'll be taking off for another bounty hunt. On account, that you four had been tasked, by Cor the Immortal, himself, to hunt a certain amount of Behemoths, Zus, Garula, and other creatures and some rare ingredients, to help gather for the king and queen's celebration."
The eldest-brother flashed him a smirk of a smile.
"With the task on gathering a list of food to feed an entire kingdom, we have no time to stop or rest in the day." He replied, before he, his brothers and the hunter turned to the sound of a whistle being blown, when Sarai brought out a Chocobo Whistle to call for their Chocobos.
...
...After the third whistle, a pair of four running feet came sprinting towards them... And, jumping from a large bush, four Chocobos came forth. All with different colors: A Sapphire, a Crimson, an Emerald and a Cerulean.
The Cerulean Chocobo immediately went to the girl, letting out a screech of a cry in joy, nuzzling her beak against her face, as Sarai held the bird's face in both hands, resting her head against the bird's.
The hunter chuckled at the sight of the strong bond between the Chocobo and the eighteen year-old, as he watches the girl and her three brothers settling their Chocobos down to get up on their backs... All riding them bareback, to allow their Chocobos more maneuverability and less weight to drag them down.
"Well, if you've been feeding them Mimett Greens to boost their Stamina, like I know you four had been doing, you'll probably be able to take care of the next Behemoth that's seven miles from here, before nightfall." He informed them, pointing a finger to the north-east of them. "Just, do be careful and don't push yourselves too hard on getting the task down."
The eldest-brother, riding the Crimson Chocobo, nodding his head in thanks.
"We know. But, we'd rather get this done and over with. That way, the areas that those monsters are terrorizing can be safer for the residence nearby. Plus, -He jerked a thumb to Sarai, who was gently stroking her Chocobo's neck... And, from the way her lips are to the head of the bird and moving, was whispering comforting words to her steed.- our sister won't stop worrying over accomplishing the task Cor the Immortal assigned to us and will even go against daemons, if the monsters aren't being taken down from her worry for others."
Once again, Sarai blushed at her brother, from bringing up a matter that makes her feel uncomfortable when it involves her into the conversation.
Lupus, riding the Sapphire Chocobo, gently coaxed his Chocobo to walk beside his sister, gently patting her on the back and giving her a kind smile.
Vitalis, riding the Emerald Chocobo, moved his Chocobo to the big brother.
"Cephas (Rock), we best get going." The younger-male informed, pointing a finger up at the sky. "It'll get dark, soon. We gotta take down our next target, before Daemons gets the chance to lurk. We'll be lucky, if we snag a few Anak Stags and that bounty of that Skarnbulette that's been causing rockslides near the roads."
Nodding his head to his brother, Cephas gave the hunter and the butcher, who was going over to the Behemoth's body to examine the condition of its meat and flesh, a two-finger salute, before he gently kicked his Chocobo to start running. Lupus and Vitalis both said their farewell to the hunter, before they made their Chocobos follow their big brother.
Sarai stared at the hunter for a moment, who gave her big smile and nodded his head to her.
"Be careful, and do allow yourself to be looked after." He told the eighteen year-old, as he jerked a finger to the horns and claws. "I'll make sure your harvests stay safe and secure, until you guys can take them with you. And remember, leave your marks on each kill you guys made, and we'll haul them out for cleaning and will be ready for you to deliver to in Insomnia."
She nodded her head in thanks to the adult, not making a sound to the man or making any form of promise to be careful, before she made a clicking sound with her teeth to get her Chocobo to chase after her brothers.
The hunter watches the four siblings take off, before a big sigh left his lungs. He shook his head, before lifting his head to the sky.
'Cor. Just what the hell are you thinking? Having human hunters to take on this kind of task, when there are a few werewolves that can do the hard job for another two months, before the next mating season comes in?'
Four Days Later, in Insomnia...
"Man, I'm so beat!" Prompto panted out, sprawled on the ground, laying on his back. "I can't believe on how many numbers chairs and tables we have to move and set up, before the festival begins! Why do we have so many people living in Insomnia?! Shouldn't there be a limit, to how many people can live here?!"
Gladiolus, putting down a new table near a café that Ignis and his mate loves to go to, which happens to be the very place the two of them had their first date at, went over to the whiny blonde and firmly kicked at his right-foot.
"Stop whining, and get up." He grumbled, smirking down at the pouty thirty-one year-old. "We're more than halfway done. If we keep this up, we'll probably be done within a day or two."
Prompto gaped at the larger-male's update of their task, before he let out a groan.
"Why can't we leave this task to the humans, and go join some of the werewolves that are scavenging for food?" He grumbled, forcing himself to sit up and, when the larger-male extended a hand down to him, grabbed at the offered hand to get back on his feet.
Gladiolus smirked down at the shorter-male.
"Because, we're one of the very few who know how to set the tables, exactly, as Iggy wants them to be placed." He reminded.
The blonde sent him an annoyed look.
"I thought this was Noct and Luna's party," he growled out.
"Oh, it is. It's just that Iggy prefers to handle the decoration, instead of leaving it to some commoner, who doesn't know the traditional display of respect to the royal family."
"...And why isn't he helping us with setting the tables?"
Gladiolus raised an eyebrow at the blonde, folding his arms over his chest.
"...Do you wanna go hungry?"
Prompto let out a deep sigh of defeat.
"...No..."
The thirty-four year-old smirked down at the blonde, patting him on top of his head.
"I didn't think so. Now, quit your whining and get back to work. -He handed another folded table that needed to be set.-Just another one hundred more, and we can stop for food."
Prompto wasn't happy to hear how many more they need to do, but is willing to keep going, if food is involved and can take a break.
Just as he set up the next table...
"Hey there, fellas."
His head immediately shot up to the sound of the voice that brought him great joy and happiness... And, now able to smell the one scent that makes him all tingly and hyped with newfound energy, he morphed into his wolf-form and bolted to the one person that made his life feel whole and complete, besides his Brothers-in-Arms.
...His mate, Cindy.
"Cindy!" He barked, immediately nuzzling and rubbing his body against her, letting out whimpers of loves and wagging his tail, like an overgrown puppy.
Cindy, still wearing her jean-shorts, her hat, gloves and white-cowgirl boots, but not having her yellow-work jacket on and wearing a red wifebeater-shirt, from the warmth of the sun rising, smiled softly at her mate and opened her arms to hold his head and rub her nose against his.
"Looks like somebody's excited ta find someone, like ducks on a June bug." She replied, giggling at the werewolf smothering her in licks and went to scratch him behind the ear and underneath his neck.
His whole body wouldn't stop moving and shaking, but was able to contain himself from jumping on her to give her a proper greetings... Not when she's four months pregnant, with the pump starting to push out from underneath her shirt.
Prompto's left hind-leg stomped rapidly on the ground, like a rabbit thumping its foot to give off a signal to their warren.
"Babe, I miss you so much." He groaned, allowing himself to fall to the ground and to rub his head against Cindy's legs and shoes. "You know just how to make my day."
From behind, Gladiolus watches the happy and open display between Prompto and his mate... His heart slammed against his chest, yearning to have what his friends/Brothers-in-Arms all have. And, watching as Cindy gently laid a hand on her belly, as Prompto sat back up to his feet and went to nuzzle his nose against the bump underneath her shirt, it made his eyes stings and his soul cry to do the same with his unborn pups.
...
...
...And yet, as the King's Shield, he kept his composure and remained calm and collective as he always been.
Cindy, finally taking in his presence, waved at the larger-male.
"Hey there, Gladdy!" She greeted. "You boys look ta be doin' a perty good job out here."
The thirty-four year-old nodded his head at the girl, who became his sister the moment she became Prompto's Life-Mate.
"Thanks, Cindy."
Finally getting over his puppy-state, Prompto morphed back into his human-self, pulling Cindy to lean against him.
"Yeah, it's a tough job, but we got it cover." He smirked, acting like a big shot.
Gladiolus raised another eyebrow at the blonde.
"If that's the case, Prompto, why not continue where you left off, before you were lying on your back and whining like a big baby?"
His words let Prompto flabbergasted, sweating bullets, as he let out a nervous laugh.
"What?! Me? Acting like a baby?! Don't be ridiculous, Gladdy! I was only kidding!" He replied, not wanting his mate to know of his little temper tantrum.
"Right..." The thirty-four year-old replied, rolling his eyes.
Prompto laughed nervously, before he turned to Cindy... And, pulling her to a gentle hug, he guiding her face to join him into a loving, passionate kiss.
Gladiolus glared at the blonde. Not out of anger, but from jealousy and hurt of his misfortune to not do the same thing with his mate like Prompto, Ignis and other males are doing with their Life-Mates.
When the couple pulled away, he gently laid his hand on top of hers, slowly stroking her belly that houses his pups... Their babies.
"I'll see you at lunch." He whispered to her, nuzzling noses, before pulling away and took off running to grab the next table to set up.
Watching her mate getting back at his task, Cindy turned her attention to Gladiolus, seeing him off in his own little world.
...She knows what was bothering him, the instant she saw the look in his Amber-eyes.
With a gentle-smile, she walked to the large-male. She laid a hand on how right-arm, drawing him out from his thoughts.
"You doin' okay, Gladiolus?" She asked, keeping a hand on her stomach-bump.
The thirty-four year-old can see her concern for him and, while he does appreciates her kindness, it didn't help calm his raging, wounded heart.
he turned his head to the side, gently but firmly removing his arm from her grasp.
"I'm fine," he grunted out.
as stubborn as she was, Cindy wasn't going to let him off that easily. She walked into his line of vision, her smile still soft and very confident.
"You say that right now, but your eyes are singin' a different tune. -She remove the hand that was on her belly, placing it to rest on her hip.- And don't you even try and make up any tall tales. Paw-Paw always knew when I tried hiding somethin' from him and he'd make me do crazy tasks that were impossible to do, 'til I'd spill the beans."
He didn't want to tell her what was bothering him; it was his burden, and his, alone, to carry. Nobody else is to take it, not even Noctis, himself.
...
...
...But, when Cindy means business, you just can't say 'no' to her. Especially, to a pregnant female-werewolf, whose mated to a friend/Brother-in-Arms to the King, himself. And even if Prompto isn't the strongest in the group, like any other werewolf, he'll protect and defend his mate, and his unborn pups, with every ounce of strength and energy he has in his body... Even if the threat is Gladiolus, himself.
The thirty-four year-old kept staring down at the small-female, not certain on what to say that would explain his odd behavior.
...Then, Cindy's smile was gone, but her eyes flashed in realization.
"I thought it'd be just that," she sighed out. "I'd recon it'd be somethin' more related to not bein' the one ta go out huntin'. But, yer eyes and behavior saids it all. -Grabbing for his right-hand, she gently pulled him to follow her, taking a seat in one of the chairs that's set up for the party... Then, holding the large-hand in her left, she gently patted the top with her right. Her smile, sad.- ...I'm sorry you have ta see that, Gladdy."
Gladiolus shook his head, no longer needing to hide his pain when the clever girl figured out what was bothering him.
"It's not your fault, Cindy." He replied, giving her a small-smile... Though, it went away just as quickly, as his heart slammed against his chest.
His eyes went back to her belly, his left-hand clenching tightly at his jean-pants when seeing the evidence of his friend being blessed with a mate and a family of his own... Feeling his beast wanting to come out and give in to the call to scream up at Six, he slammed his fist against the table.
"Fuck!" He yelled, growling in pain and agony, removing his right-hand to clutch at his black wifebeater-shirt.
A warning snarl left his throat. His eyes seemed to glow a red-color to blend into his Amber-eyes... Tears sat at the edge of his eyes.
"Why, Six?!" He growled out, his fangs clenched tightly together. "Everyone I knew and love; my Brothers-in-Arms, the Kingsglaive! Hell, even my own sister! They've found their Life-Mates! Hell, some even have pups, started their own pack! Their own families...! And yet, I'm left with nothing! No Life-Mate! No pups!"
He didn't care if Prompto, Ignis or even the whole kingdom of Insomnia heard his anguish. Hell, he didn't care if all of Eos hears his anger, his suffering, as he allowed himself to finally morphed into his wolf-form.
A dark-brown-wolf, two times larger than Ignis' wolf-form and made of pure muscle, stood before a startled Cindy. With blackish-brown coat-coloring, starting at the top of his head down to his spine and to the tip of his tail. The top of his head, spiky and thick, as his hair in his human-form.
He took massive gulps of air, panting in his frustration, glaring down at the ground beneath his paws... Then, finally letting the tears fall, he lifted his head to the sky and let out the howl he could no longer keep in.
"Why don't I have my Life-Mate?! Why must I be forsaken from being a worthy mate, a father, to a pack of my own?! Why am I to continue suffering like this, alone and mateless?!"
...
...
...A gentle nuzzling against his cheek brought him out from his cries, seeing a smaller blonde-wolf, with light-cream coloring from her neck to her underbelly, standing beside him and offering her company to him.
It was Cindy.
She didn't show much emotion on her face, but her eyes showed a flash of something he didn't expect to see... Understanding.
"Listen here, Gladiolus." She told him, licking his tears away. "I won't say that I know what yer feelin', because I hadn't gone through what yer going through right now... But, I can say, in my perspective, that I know what's like, haven' ta wait fer my mate. Ta wonder and worry, if he's alive out there and will return ta me, while I stayed with Paw-Paw in Hammerhead. -She let out a tiring sigh, as she sat down on the ground in front of him.- Y'all probably know this, but I'm still gonna tell ya the story, anyways. Back when y'all separated, Prompto came back ta Hammerhead and, I'm gonna be straight with ya, Gladiolus, he was bad. Lost, confused, as if the world stopped maken' sense and froze into nothingness... Which was, actually, what happened, I guess. Anyways, after a few days of bedrest and some of Takka's famous Chili con Carne, the sneaky devil pulled me into a kiss and the first thing he said was 'Complete the Mate Bond with me'... Gave him a good swat upside the head, before Paw-Paw could even grab the wrench ta whack his screws any looser."
Gladiolus chuckled at Cindy's description on how she and Prompto ended up becoming mates. He was still hurting, but he did started to feel a bit better, after letting out his emotion into the sky.
"Of course, we did completed the Mate Bond, after Paw-Paw made 'im promise a few things ta get his blessings... But, after a few months on livin' with us and workin' in the garage, I knew that he wasn't all there. -She lowered her head a bit.- ...He told me about discoverin' his origin, on bein' a clone and killin' his 'Pa' and whatnot."
The dark-brown wolf nodded his head, already knowing the story behind that, after Prompto revealed his origin to them. It was still hard to believe that Prompto was a clone to the mad scientist Verstael Besithia, the maker of the Magitek Infantry. And while it didn't matter that he was basically the child to the man who made all of those Magitek robots that they fought in the past, it was still a shock to learn that Prompto could've ended up being a Magitek robot... Even, take over the role as the new Verstael Besithia, if fate hadn't brought him to the Crown City.
He may not be of royal blood, but he's still their friend... Their fellow Brother-in-Arms.
"Eventually, I confronted him 'bout his behavior and, after a moment of thought, I convinced him ta leave Hammerhead, ta go find himself and ta find y'all. Of course, he did protest and refused ta leave me, fearin' I'll be in danger if he's gone, and the thought that I'll end up mateless. He even thought that I had a bun in the oven, when I caught myself the bad case of the sniffles, and tried to use that argument ta stay. But, after haven' a chat with Paw-Paw, he finally came 'round to senses and left ta go find y'all. -She stood back up to her feet, giving Gladiolus a serious look.- As I said before, I didn't go through what yer goin' through, but after waiting four years and heard no word from any of y'all, I did believe that I ended up mateless and, with no bun in the oven, lost the chance ta have my own youngins."
Gladiolus bowed his head in shame, his ears folded back. He never knew the struggles his friend/baby-brother figure had to endure, during their separation. But to hear that both Prompto and Cindy had to be apart for four years, with Cindy more likely to suffer the consequences on losing a mate than Prompto losing himself to his questioning of his origin... It made him feel selfish, for snapping like that and pouring out his emotions on a pregnant female that became his sister when Prompto told him and the others that he claimed her as his Life-Mate in their reunion.
Cindy gently laid her left-paw on top of his massive right-paw, regaining his attention.
"Gladdy, I need you ta listen." She said, urgency in her voice. "Like I said before, I can't say that I know what yer goin' through... But, what I can tell ya, is that you're not bein' punished. You just haven't found her, yet. But, that doesn't mean you'll never find her. Just be patient. Remember: Good thing comes ta those who wait. And if Paw-Paw were still alive, he'd tell you ta simmer down and ta wait, if you wanna prove yerself to being a worthy mate ta her. -Gladiolus chuckled at the mentioning of the old man, knowing he would certainly get a good scolding from the old man, if he were still living.-...Don't give up on findin' yer Life-Mate, Gladdy. She'll come. And when you find her, you'll find yerself ta be blessed... And in no time, you'll get that family you've been craven' fer. I know it'll happen, and you should know that I don't make up tall tales on something that's gonna come true."
Gladiolus flashed her a wolfish-smile, his tail slowly wagging from side-to-side, as he leaned down and gave her a gentle nuzzle on top of her head.
"...Thanks, Cindy."
Cindy, cautiously, lifted part of her upper-body off the ground and nipped him on his chin.
"No problem, Gladdy." She replied, wagging her tail and raising her paw up, as she morphed back into her human-self and held his face in her right-hand. She kept her gaze up, locking eyes with his Amber-eyes. "Now, no more wailin' in the sky for nothin', when there's no moon out. Understand? And the next time I see tears coming out from yer eyes, they better be tears of joy when you find yer Life-Mate."
The thirty-four year-old let out a grunt, before he allowed himself to morph back into a human, holding her hand to his cheek.
"Yes, ma'am."
The blonde-woman smirked up at him, before she patted him on the shoulder.
"Good. Now, get to it." She ordered him. "Can't leave Prompto ta do all the hard-work, by himself. Ignis will throw his knives at him, if he messes up the order of the tables he wants them ta be."
Knowing she was right, the large-male went to grab a new table to set up, able to continue working and not have something holding him back.
Cindy let out a relieved sigh, as she laid her left-hand on her belly.
"I tell ya, little youngings, y'all gonna have a great, wonderful family ta be born into... I do hope that yer Uncle Gladdy does find his Life-Mate, very soon. No doubt, she'll be a perty little thing, who Gladdy will be head over heels fer and will finally be given all that he's definitely deserve to gain."
Twenty Minutes Later...
Prompto was grinning like an idiot. In his head, he kept track on how many tables he put out. And right now, he's only seven tables away from taking his break and to have his much needed meal. And the instant he finishes his last setting, he was going to find Cindy and take her out to eat at the closest diner in the city to spend quality time with his mate and unborn pups.
...He wanted to make certain, from his mate's own words, that Gladiolus was doing okay, after hearing that distressful cry of his, earlier. He didn't want to risk angering the larger, older-werewolf, when the Sworn Shield returned to finish their work. Plus, smelling the scent of tears coming off of Gladio, told Prompto that it was best to not say anything to him until he was ready to talk about it.
He just finished setting up his ninety-fifth table, when multiple howls, coming from the entrance of the city, echoed out in the city.
"They're here! Open the gate!"
"Inform Cor the Immortal, King Noctis and Queen Lunafreya of their arrival!"
Curiosity caught the blonde's attention, no longer thinking about food and wondering who could it be that they needed to tell Cor, Noct and Luna about.
"Ah, good. They finally came." To his left, Ignis appeared. "They're a little late, but not too serious to be concern over. Plus, the delay did allow us to get our utensils ready for cutting and to make certain our equipments are in perfect condition to function and work. -He took a few sniffs in the air, humming in satisfaction at the scent of fresh raw-meat, spices and vegetations.- And, from the smell of it, the meal will be made to perfection."
"Hey, Iggy!" Gladiolus called out, running towards the two males, after just finishing setting up the tables in his area and hearing the cry of the guards at the gates. "What's going on?"
Ignis lifted his head towards the direction of their friend/Brother-in-Arms, pushing his shades up when they slightly slid down.
"Nothing to be concerned about, Gladio." He informed. "Just the needed food and ingredients for the celebration had finally arrived, and are being brought in by the hunters Cor hired."
Gladiolus raised an eyebrow to the news.
"Oh, yeah?" He replied, crossing his arms over his chest. "If Cor needed hunters to complete such a task, then they must be strong, werewolves."
Ignis chuckled at his friend's assumption.
"Actually, from my own gathering, I was told that these hunters are humans."
Prompto yelped in shock.
"WHAT?! HUMANS?!" He yelled, not believing his ears. "COR HAD HUMAN HUNTERS, TO HAUL IN BEHEMOTHS, ZUS AND WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE YOU NEEDED, FOR THE PARTY?! IS HE INSANE?!"
Gladiolus was just as taken back by the news, but was at a loss for words.
"Yes, it was very startling, even nerve-wracking, when I learnt that he decided to choose human hunters over werewolf hunters... However, -Iggy, lifted his gaze to face the sky... Silently, wishing to see the blue-sky, once more.- because many cities are in need to replenish their food supplies from the harsh Winter, most to nearly every werewolves are given a task to help assist cities with their low food-stock, including hunter Werewolves... That, and most males are taking this as an early opportunity to be prepared for the next mating season."
Prompto winced at the mentioning of the mating season, quietly looking over to see Gladiolus' expression. As always, he looked calm... But, in his Amber-eyes, there was concern and anger. No doubt, he neglected to be doing the same thing, like any male-werewolf would be doing... Even if he, still, hadn't found his Life-Mate.
"Besides, we shouldn't be too worried about which hunter got the job done. Cor was very confident with choosing this specific group, when he gave such an assignment that he, himself, can take care of... But, he needs to focus on taking care of Monica and their few months old pups."
Again, Prompto looked over to Gladiolus in worry, his sweat trickling down at a faster paste to what the big guy's reaction was going to be when Ignis brought up pups.
...This time, Gladiolus looked over to the side... A low growl left his throat, indicating his fight to not snap at his friend/Brother-in-Arms to stop talking.
He took it upon himself to change the subject.
"So, if they're humans, they must be pretty skilled, if they're able to take down Behemoths and Zus." He commented, laughing nervously. "They're probably ancient, to know how to take them down."
Ignis knew what his friend was doing, and decided to go along with his attempt to change the topic. He started to walk towards the entrance.
"Actually, most of them are near our age. If not a few years younger." He replied, walking past a stunned Prompto and an intrigued Gladio. "...And, from what I've been informed, this group of hunters are siblings... And their sister, the youngest in the group, is eighteen."
...
...
...He barely took five steps, when Prompto let out a yell, almost big enough for the whole city to hear, including the humans, and finally caught up with their blind-friend and demand for more information on the hunters.
Gladiolus was more than impressed to hear about the hunters that completed the task that Cor, himself, assigned to. But, even he couldn't believe that a younger group of hunter, let alone an eighteen year-old girl, would be able to take down a Behemoth, let alone a Zu. Even fighting a Garula wasn't as easy to take down, whether it be one person or even a four-person group. It's like trying to jab a sword through solid concrete, while a steamroller pushes you back from behind the wall, to crush you to another steamroller.
He got himself to follow from behind.
"And he's certain that they completed the task, on their own?" He asked Iggy, who didn't seem to be cautious and/or suspicious of the hunters coming into their city.
"Cor made very certain, that this group of hunters are what they claim to be." The older-blonde replied. "...Plus, as evidence, the siblings have video recording devices implanted in their dog-tags and their clothing... And Cor gave them clear instructions to record each, and every, killing and hunting they made. He wants everyone to see the hard-work and effort they put in, for us to give our thanks for the meals to celebrate Noct and Luna's cherished occasion on being parents."
Again, Ignis had to keep rubbing salt in the wound with that reminder. Gladiolus had to bite his own tongue to not make a sound... He already allowed himself to lose his composure, when he broke down in front of Cindy... He couldn't allow himself to give in to his beast's sorrow, again.
"Well, I'll need to see those videos of theirs, before I even consider believing any of this. Right now, let's go greet them... And, from the smell of it, see their Chocobos!" Prompto replied, taking off running.
Ignis and Gladiolus chuckled at the younger-boy's deep love for Chocobo. Even when he's thirty-one years old, he still acts like a kid in a candy store, just by hearing the name 'Chocobo'. They wouldn't be surprised if he named his first child 'Chocobo'.
As they continued walking, Ignis slowed down his steps for the larger-male to walk with him.
"...You don't have to keep hiding it, you know." The blind-male said out of the blue, not seeing the slight surprised look on Gladiolus' face. "And don't even try to deny it, or give me some bull on having a duty to keep your emotions intact... The whole kingdom heard your distress. Noct, especially. -He turned his head to the right... His face, stoic, but showed a look of concern for the older-male.- ...We all know this is eating you, alive, and is making your wolf-blood closer to the state of being feral-like, the longer you remain without a Life-Mate."
He stopped in his tracks, raising a hand up to lay it on Gladio's left-arm, giving him a comforting presence.
"No one will hold it against you, for letting out your negative response on being mateless and losing patience. -He patted at the arm a few times, before he continued his walk.- And remember, Gladio. You aren't alone. So, until you do find your Life-Mate, you can talk to us about your issues... And that includes Noct, and Luna."
Gladiolus really appreciated that the thirty-three year-old offered to hear his problems, and to remind him that he isn't entirely alone... But, it didn't stop the ache in his heart on not having somebody to spend the rest of his days with. To start a pack of his own with and to experience the joy of being a husband and father to his Life-Mate and Pups.
He let out a sigh, before following his blind friend down the road.
...
...
...
...
...
...Then, without warning, his heart gave out a sudden pulse.
...
...
...
...
...His blood started to burn...
...
...
...
...The beast let out a howl... A cry he didn't expect to hear.
...
...
...
MATE!
...
...
...
...
The instant he heard that word, he morphed into his wolf-form and took off sprinting, leaving behind a stunned Ignis.
His heart was racing, as if he ran for hours without rest, encouraging him to go faster... To follow a sudden scent that caught his full attention.
FOLLOW! FIND MATE!
Gladiolus couldn't believe what he was hearing, what he was feeling, but he didn't care... Because his beast has finally founded her... He was going to see his Life-Mate, after all these years.
When he reached the entrance, he found most of the citizens crowding around the main road.
His Amber-eyes scanned the area, looking for the one he's been looking for... But alas, as before, none of the females within the crowd caught his eyes, nor his raging heart.
MATE! MATE HERE! MATE COMES!
"Everyone, clear back!" A Crownsguard ordered the citizens, walking in front and raising a hand for everyone to step back and off the road.
...
...
...Behind him, along with a few more Crownsguards, two strangers, riding a Crimson and Sapphire Chocobo, walking in front of the lead truck that, no doubt, was carrying one of the many goods that's for the party.
"Gladdy!" Prompto called out, finally caught up to him, in his wolf-form. "What's going on?! Is everything all right?!" He panted, staring up at the larger-wolf, who kept scanning his eyes through the crowd.
"Prompto! Gladio!" Behind them, Ignis, also in his wolf-form, came up.
Prompto stepped aside for the blind-wolf to take his spot beside Gladiolus.
Ignis glared up towards the direction that he guessed Gladio's head would be.
"What's gotten into you, Gladio? Is there a threat we should be worrying about?!"
His questioned was ignored, as Gladiolus still kept looking around them, as he started walking from side-to-side when each truck drove by.
'...Where is she?' He thought, starting to whimper a bit. 'Don't be playing tricks on me... Please, let me see her!'
...
...
...
...
...Then, to the last few trucks that entered the city, did his beast gave off a howl of joy.
MATE!
...
...
...There, riding beside another male that's on an Emerald Chocobo, on a Cerulean Chocobo... Gladiolus' heart froze when he saw the person.
She wore a tan-brown horse western-hat, with her long, wavy brownish-black hair in a ponytail. A long-sleeve red-and-black checkered shirt cling to the upper-half of her body, showing off the small-built of her arms and flat belly. Midnight-blue skinny jean-pants hugged her slim, but strong legs, with Vitkos Johnny Combat Vented Tactical Boots covering her small-feet.
...And then, there are her eyes... Green, dark and piercing, looking straight ahead... They reminded Gladiolus of the many forests he and the others would camp in or nearby, during their adventure on taking back Insomnia.
...
...And her scent... It was intoxicating. Like fresh scented pinecones and river-water, with a hint of white-sage.
...
...
...He knew, right there and then, as his blood howled in joy and she continues past him, that he has finally found her.
...
...
...His missing link... His-...
"...Mate..."
TBC
...Yeah... Like I said on the top, it was hard to type how Cindy would talk. So, sorry for those who didn't like it and/or find it offensive (In your perspective).
Also, in case anybody asked about my choice on how the OC Character looks and her name:
First, the name: I found it very interesting that most of the characters have Latin name, when Final Fantasy is a Japanese (Originally started) Game. I was able to find Biblical Latin/ Medieval Latin Name from the behindthename website. Apparently, each character's name has a specific meaning that matches the character. Honestly, it was hard for me to pick one for her. I was going to name her Sapphira (Sapphire, Lapis Lazuli), but decided Sarai (My Princess), for having a special meaning in her family... And, for Gladio.
Second, the eye-color: I looked up on rarest eye-colors... And, according to what the internet said, it said either green or Amber are the rarest eye-color in the world. So, in case you're wondering why green-eyes. And, with Gladiolus having Amber-eyes, it would make the coupling very much interesting.
Third, the skin-color: Because they're hunters (They capitalize Hunter for their Organization, while the lowercase hunter is for the members) and are always out hunting monsters, rarely in-doors, her skin is a medium-tan.
Fourth, the height:...Unfortunately, I have a thing for large, tall males having small, short females as their lover/mate... I'm sorry. I just can't help it; makes me see the males having an overly protective side, if their girls are small... And, to have them see to never judge a girl's appearance and assume she's helpless, because she's smaller than him.
Fifth, the hair:...Okay, that one... Had some trouble figuring out what type of hairstyle and color I wanted her to have. So, I just did wavy, shoulder-length, brownish-black color.
Six, the age:...Before you get on me on making her 18, and the 16 year gap between her and Gladiolus... Anybody who seen the anime show: The Ancient Magus' Bride... Yeah, you wouldn't feel the age-difference in this story to being weird and/or odd, than this one (For those who don't know, Chise's 16 years old [When she first came on the show], while Elias is Centuries old.)... Major age difference, and she isn't even, legally, of age to be considered an adult (Despite, in my own opinion, that I still say 21 is the true age on being an adult)... However, I'm going with what the law says on what's legal and what's not.
And yes, Werewolf Laws have some difference to Human Laws.
*: Before any of you start to correct me of my findings being right or not, know that I'm just making this up as I'm going along. Plus, because we only get information on what certain parts are needed for crafting, based from the video game, we don't know for certain if they can be used for other parts... They should consider making a TV Show/Series of all the Final Fantasy Video Games.
