Chapter 26
(Ana and Kate are both shocked at who the accomplice is! At long last, they know who it is…Jack Hyde. Both ladies knew that it was him, but they hoped they were wrong as they didn't want to believe Jack was that cold. Both ladies face Jack and want to understand his reasoning)
Ana: "Why, Jack? Why would you do this?"
Kate: "What did we ever do to you to make you so heartless?"
(Jack angrily shakes his head as he spits with venom)
Jack: "Are you serious? Really?! Well, for starters, Kate, you turned everyone against me!"
Kate: (confused) "How? I don't understand."
(Jack laughs incredulously! Was Kate high on something or on drugs? He guessed it was time to spell it out)
Jack: "How about this. When you were sixteen, I took an interest in you. The way you were all flirty with me, I thought you were interested in me. You may have only been sixteen, but you acted well beyond your years, Kavanagh. I wasn't sure if you were actually interested in me, so I thought 'what the hell?'. I was flirty with you in return. After I started responding, you turned around and you acted all innocent to the next guy. I was thinking 'what about me?'" I asked you what your deal was." (raises his eyebrows) "Your response? Don't take it personally as you were flirty with everyone." (scoffs) "Who knew you were that much of a slut, you fucking whore. You acted like you were all over me and when I responded? You ignored me! You left me in the dust! If you didn't use me or act like you wanted me when you actually didn't, maybe I wouldn't have joined Jose!"
(Kate faces her tormentor incredulously! Wow! She briefly faces Ana before looking at Jack again)
Kate: "I'm sorry for what I did. I didn't mean to lead you on if you felt I did. It wasn't my intention. But, to defend myself, you knew who I was years ago, Jack. I was only sixteen years old. Yes, I was a flirty young woman. However, it's not a crime to be nice and sassy to young men. I'm sure I'm not the only girl to have done that to guys." (angrily) "But that's not a reason to join this loser…" (points to Jose) "…and get your kicks out of hurting others. Why don't you put on your big boy shoes and admit your faults on your own instead of crying like a baby that your feelings got hurt?" (angrily points at Jack) "Yes, I'm sorry for my part. But, why don't you admit yours?"
(Jack looks at Kate venomously! The nerve of this tramp before him! Who the fuck did she think she was?! It was time that he set the bitch straight once and for all! Jack spits fiercely as he spoke)
Jack: "You were a lying bitch who got your kicks by playing with guys and then throwing them away once you got what you wanted!"
(Ana moves Kate out of the way to look Jack directly in the face and speaks defensively)
Ana: "At least she admitted she was a little immature as she never pretended to be anything else. Why don't you get off your high horse and get your fucking facts straight, Hyde, before you go accusing others of wronging you?!"
Kate: "The way you'd hang out with me and put your hands on me…it was clear that you wanted sex. Yes, I was flirty. However, you must have thought I was easy and when you realized I wasn't easy, you felt rejected."
(Jack just stares at Kate before a fire burns inside of him in fury. He couldn't get over her ego! He narrows his eyes in anger. Who the hell did this little girl think she was? He rolls his eyes as he spoke)
Jack: "You can spin whatever tale you want, lady. I never demanded sex nor did I expect it. You just see things the way you want to see them. What do I have to gain by that?"
Kate: (scoffs) "What do you have to gain? What do you think? You want to ruin my life! Just admit the damn truth! You felt rejected by me and you wanted payback!"
Jack: (angrily) "Because of your fucking rejection, everyone, EVERYONE found out and my goddamned reputation was tarnished! I became detective at the police station and everyone you were friends with, along with nosy people, knew what happened! It was very hard to make any friends as no one saw or understood my side of things! Because of you, I was an outsider! Thanks a lot, YOU BITCH! It's time for payback!"
Ana: (pissed off) "Getting Christian involved won't solve anything! Oh, and by the way, dumbass? I know that it was you who brought the package to Christian." (shrugs) "What did you hope to accomplish?"
(Jack and Jose smirk at each other before facing the ladies in front of them)
Jose: "It's easy." (tilts his head) "Money."
Jack: "And a lot of it."
(Kate and Ana glance at each other before facing their enemies)
Kate: "How much?"
(Jose and Jack chuckle softly)
Jack: "More than what you have."
(Ana can't help the bitter anger from coming out)
Ana: (shouts) "HOW MUCH?!"
(Jose and Jack smile evilly as they briefly raise their eyebrows)
Jose: "25 million."
***Christian's Condo***
(Christian is at his piano playing a melody when he stops abruptly and rests his hands on top of the piano. He looks ahead for a moment before scoffing and looks down)
Christian: "Christ, Elena, do you have to go and fuck up every good thing that is happening in my life? I was finally getting over you after you went back to Linc. I found someone to possibly share my life with and then you come and make that announcement. I swear, you like messing with my head."
(Christian's mind wanders to earlier that day in his office when Ana made her exit and Elena stayed and asked if Christian loves Elena more)
***Christian's Office***: ***Flashback***
(Elena tilts her head and speaks softly)
Elena: "You don't love her more than me, do you, baby?"
(Christian breaks free from her grasp and speaks as he walks away)
Christian: "It doesn't matter how I feel because you're with Linc."
Elena: "I told you already. I'm going to file for divorce from him."
(Christian turns around to face Elena, who's already facing him)
Christian: "I've heard that before and I don't buy it."
(She walks to her former lover and looks directly in his eyes)
Elena: "Right after our talk, I'm going to meet with my lawyer to start divorce proceedings. Once it's final, we can finally be together…like we should have been all along."
Christian: "Now, it's my turn to make things clear. You know damn well that you will never truly escape Linc after the divorce…if that even happens."
Elena: (pleads) "Let me prove it to you."
(Christian is conflicted. He doesn't know whether or not to believe her. She had a tendency to talk a good game, but not follow through with her plans. He shakes his head and walks in a circle as he sighs loudly)
Christian: "I-I don't know, Elena. I honestly don't know. I've been burned by you too many damn times. I don't want to go there again."
Elena: "What can I do to prove it to you?"
(He shakes his head and states matter of factly)
Christian: "Nothing. It's time for me to move on. I need to get on with my life."
(Elena's eyes burn with fury that he wants to move on without her! She was getting fed up with this little girl Ana)
Elena: (angrily) "You mean with that bitch editor of yours?"
(Christian growls in anger and speaks to his ex in a deathly tone)
Christian: "Don't you ever, EVER speak of Ana like that again."
(Christian smiles proudly at Elena)
Christian: "Anastasia Steele is more of a woman than you will ever be."
(Elena scoffs and she folds her arms across her chest)
Elena: "You'll grow tired of Miss Steele and you know what? I may not be available when you realize the truth."
(Elena gathers her coat and purse, walking out in a huff)
Elena: (whispers) "I'll break your precious Ana before she can get to you. Just watch, you little bitch. You will NOT have him. Not if I can help it."
***End of Flashback***
