Title: FSOG: From Heartbreak to Happiness?
Chapter 29
***Elena & Linc's Place***
(Elena started the process of what she needs to do to get away from Linc. She was ready to divorce the asshole, once and for all. Linc approaches her in her office)
Linc: "You're really serious about the divorce."
Elena: (serious tone) "You're damn right I am. We should have ended this farce of a marriage a long time ago. In all reality, we probably never should have gotten married to begin with."
Linc: (puzzled) "Why do you say that?"
Elena: "Because we were never really happy in it."
Linc: (scoffs) "I was happy…until you brought the prick into our lives."
Elena: "His name is Christian and don't blame him. You and I had problems long before he came into the picture."
Linc: "Whatever."
Elena: "I want out of this union. You don't need money, as you have your own. I don't want a dime from
you. We can be mature adults and settle things amicably, right?"
(Linc narrows his eyebrows as he talks in a serious yet warning tone)
Linc: "You DO know that even if we divorce, you'll never be with Christian as long as Anastasia Steele is in the picture, right?"
(Elena shrugs casually and turns her head slightly)
Elena: "I'm not worried. She'll just be taken out of the equation."
(Linc raises his eyebrows in mysteriousness as he couldn't help but wonder what she meant by that)
***Hours Later***
(In Christian's office, Ana, Christian, Kate, and Taylor compare notes on the meeting with Jose and Jack)
Christian: (to Ana) "Are you ready for the next step?"
Ana: (nods) "Yes. He'll be on speakerphone, but won't know that you, Kate, and Taylor can hear his part of the conversation." (sighs) "I'm just glad that it's almost over."
Kate: (snorts) "I agree. It'll be nice when we can get back to our normal lives."
(Taylor gives Ana a cordless phone to make the call to Jose. She looks at the three people in the room a bit nervously before nodding as she dials Jose's cell phone number and puts it on speakerphone. After a few rings, Jose picks up and chuckles casually)
Jose: "Ana! I was beginning to wonder about you."
Ana: "I'm calling now, aren't I? Anyways, let's get this meeting over and done with. Are you and Jack ready to settle this, once and for all?"
Jose: "Do you and Kate have the money?"
Ana: "Tomorrow at supper time, Kate and I will meet you and Jack. We will get everything straightened out."
Jose: "As long as we get the money, it will all get worked out."
Ana: "Tomorrow. 6pm. The park. See you then."
Jose: "Sounds good."
(Ana ends the call. The four musketeers face each other and discuss the upcoming meeting)
Ana: (sighs) "I can't help but grow a little nervous that this will work."
Kate: "To be honest, I'm wondering that, too. The way the idiots are acting, what if they pull a fast one on us?"
(Taylor and Christian face the ladies with a serious yet calming expression)
Taylor: "We promise you two that it'll work out."
Christian: "We assure you that the two assholes won't know what hit them."
Taylor: "If we thought for one second that you two would be in danger, we'd handle it ourselves. We'll be right with you every step of the way."
(Kate and Ana look at each other and nod in response. They wanted this over and done with. Taylor said he has a few things to deal with, so he respectfully makes his exit. Kate asks if she can get something to drink. Christian kindly tells her to make herself at home and to help herself. He also reminds her if she's hungry, to let Mrs. Jones know. He wants both ladies to know they're welcome here. Kate nods with a smile and thanks him. She makes her exit from the office and goes downstairs to the kitchen)
(Once they're alone, Ana and Christian chat)
Ana: (smiles) "Thank you for helping us, Christian. We honestly don't know what we would have done without you and Taylor's help"
Christian: (smiles a bit) "You're welcome and it's really no trouble. Ana, I want you to know...and Kate as well…that you're safe with Taylor and I. You are and always will be safe with us."
Ana: (nods) "We appreciate that. I know it took me awhile to open up to you. Ever since the whole Jose thing, my guard was up and it was hard to put it down." (chuckles softly) "I've never known a kind man like you before, Christian Grey, who generously offers to help others out…especially since I work for you."
Christian: "Whether or not you work for me doesn't make a difference, Ana. I'm here for you no matter what. The same goes for Kate. She's important to you, so she's important to me, as well."
Ana: "I've been best friends with her for as long as I can remember. We're there for each other in everything that happens in life."
Christian: (nods) "I'm glad she's there for you."
Ana: (smirks) "Kate and I noticed your piano downstairs." (tilts her head) "Do you play?"
Christian: (nods) "I do." (chuckles a bit) "Would you like to hear me play?"
Ana: (smiles) "Yes, please. I've been wanting to ask you that since I first saw your piano earlier."
(He offers her his hand, which she gladly takes. They walk hand in hand downstairs to the living room. She admires his beautiful piano. As he sits on the bench, she leans forward and crosses her arms on the side of the piano and listens as he begins playing. He softly plays Beethoven Symphony No.9, which causes Ana to grin in response)
(As he concentrates on the music he's playing on the piano, Ana studies his facial expressions. She smiles and tilts her head as she loved watching him in action. Once he finishes, she smiles and nods at her hopeful soon-to-be beau)
Ana: "You play beautifully. You're very good, Christian."
Christian: "Thank you. I have to admit it felt good to play for someone." (chuckles nervously) "While I've never played for anyone before, I'm glad my first time was for you. I hope in the future, it's for you…if you want."
Ana: (nods & smiles) "I'd love that."
Christian: "Are you worried for tomorrow?"
Ana: (sighs deeply) "I admit I am and I wish I wasn't."
Christian: "Like I said before, Ana, I'm here for you no matter what."
Ana: (smiles a bit) "Thank you. I appreciate that."
(Their moment is interrupted by Kate's arrival from the kitchen)
Kate: (chuckles) "Your housekeeper, Mrs. Jones, is awesome. I don't think I've ever met a nicer woman."
Christian: "I'm glad you like her. She's been helping me for a long time. She's nice and tells it like it is."
(Christian shakes his head as he can't help the laugh from escaping his mouth. There's a knock at the front door, which Mrs. Jones answers. Everyone is caught off-guard by a young man's entrance, following by Mrs. Jones)
Mrs. Jones: "Elliot was at the door, Mr. Grey."
Christian: "No problem, Mrs. Jones. Thank you."
(As Elliot walks to Christian, he opens his arms and laughs)
Elliot: "Hey, brother."
Christian: "How's it going, Elliot?"
Elliot: (shrugs) "Just thought I'd see how my favorite older brother was doing."
Christian: (raises his eyebrows) "And you also know that I'm your only older brother."
Elliot: (waves Christian off) "Oh, that's besides the point."
(After the brothers share a hug, Elliot is surprised to see Kate)
Elliot: "Fancy meeting you here, Kavanagh. I wasn't aware that you knew my brother."
Kate: "I know him through Ana, my best friend. Your brother seems harmless enough."
Elliot: (smirks) "Yeah, I guess so."
Christian: (rolls his eyes) "What can I do for you, Elliot?"
Elliot: (shrugs) "Can't I come visit my older brother?"
Christian: (nods) "Yes, you can. Just didn't know if there was another reason."
Elliot: (shakes his head) "Nope."
(Christian and Ana can tell from the way that Elliot and Kate keep making eye contact, that they want to visit. Ana and Christian go back to the piano while Kate and Elliot sit on the couch to get friendly and chat)
Ana: "Do you get along with Elliot?"
Christian: (shrugs) "Not too bad. Are we super close? Probably not. We're there for each other if we need the other, though."
(While Elliot and Kate are comfy sitting on the couch, they share a conversation)
Elliot: "How well do you and your friend, Ana, know my brother?"
Kate: "Well, Ana works for him, so I'd like to think they know each other okay. This is the first time we've been to his place. It's very nice. Christian seems nice, but serious when the situation calls for it."
Elliot: "Gotcha. Forgive me for saying this, but I was very surprised to see you here." (slightly concerned) "Is everything okay?"
(Kate fidgets nervously as she didn't know how much to say to Elliot. While she wanted to open up to him, she was still getting to know the guy. She didn't want to say too much too soon. She decided to tell him a little bit about her dire situation. She nods at her hopeful soon-to-be beau and offers a smile while she spoke)
Kate: "Ana and I are in a legal jam. Christian and Taylor offered to help us. It'll be okay."
(Elliot can't help but grow concerned at his hopeful girlfriend's confession. He wanted her to be his girl, but didn't know if it was too soon. He also wanted to help Kate out in any way that he could. He briefly touches her hand and spoke tenderly)
Elliot: "If you need my help in any way, Kate, please know I'm here for you."
Kate: (smiles) "Thank you, Elliot. I appreciate it. It's being taken care of, though. I'll keep you updated on it when the time comes, if you want."
Elliot: "Yes, please do."
(Elliot chuckles nervously, which Kate notices. She smiles as she speaks)
Kate: "You look like you want to say something or ask me something, but don't know if you should."
(Elliot briefly looks down, sighs deeply, and gets the nerve to ask his question)
Elliot: "You're right. I've been meaning to ask you something."
(She turns her head slightly in confusion as she was curious what it was)
Elliot: (smiles) "Would you like to go out with me sometime, Kate?"
Kate: (giggles) "Yes, Elliot. I would love to."
(They grin at the other. Christian and Ana look at Elliot and Kate from across the room. Ana can't help the smile from showing as she speaks)
Ana: (chuckles) "I wonder if love is in the air?"
(While Ana observes her friend with Elliot, Christian can't help but look at Ana lovingly. He nods to himself as he smiled)
Christian: (to himself) "I think it just might be."
