34. Chapter 34

Title: FSOG: From Heartbreak to Happiness?

Chapter 33

***Christian's Condo***

(Christian's currently in his office sitting down. Taylor is sitting across from him in the chair. Christian wanted to plan the perfect first date with Ana. Taylor couldn't help the smirk from forming at Christian's slightly nervous face)

Taylor: "You must really have it bad, Grey."

(Christian loses his concentration and looks at his bodyguard in confusion)

Christian: "Huh? I'm sorry, what?"

(Taylor bursts out laughing, causing Christian to raise his hands and tilt his head)

Christian: "What the hell has got you laughing so hard?"

Taylor: (clears his throat) "I think it's adorable that you care for Miss Steele so much."

Christian: (raises his eyebrows) "Something tells me that's not what you said. Do I dare ask?"

Taylor: (nods) "I said, 'you must really have it bad, boss.'"

Christian: (small smile) "I never thought that I'd feel like this, Taylor. Ana makes me feel like I can do anything I set my mind to. You know me and my attitude. I don't care who I offend as long as they get the job done at work."

Taylor: "I do know your past, Mr. Grey. I have known what kind of a guy you have been for years. You don't give a shit who you hurt at work."

Christian: "I've always been a ruthless businessman."

Taylor: "Miss Steele changed that, didn't she?"

Christian: (nods & sighs) "She did. Jason, she makes me want to be a better man."

Taylor: "You have the heart of an incredible woman who loves you. Despite the many faults you feel you have, of course."

Christian: "I want to plan the perfect first date for her. I want to make it memorable for her…a date she'll never forget." (slightly angrily) "Something tells me Rodriquez never did anything like that for her."

Taylor: (shakes his head) "I highly doubt it, as well. From what I know about the guy, Miss Steele deserved better."

Christian: "I'm trying to think of the perfect place to take her."

Taylor: (shrugs) "Can I offer a suggestion?"

Christian: (nods) "Sure."

Taylor: "How about the 'Columbia Tower Club'? That's one of the many places that you never took Elena to." (chuckles dryly) "Thank god for that as Elena the bitch didn't deserve that place." (nods & smiles) "I think Ana would like that restaurant."

(Christian thought about it for a moment before grinning)

Christian: "I like it. I think she would, too. The place isn't cheap, but it's not super expensive, either. I don't think she'd make a big fuss over the expense. She knows that I'd want to spoil her, anyway. Regarding your comment a bit ago…" (raises his eyebrows) "Thank God I didn't bring Elena there. I would never want to bring Ana somewhere I brought Elena to. I've never brought Elena there and I'm glad I didn't."

Taylor: "When's the date?"

Christian: "Probably not for a few days. She's still in the hospital. I wanted to visit earlier, but I knew that Kate was going there. I didn't want to interrupt their time together. Kate and Elliot have their first official date tonight. While Kate is with Elliot, I'm going to see my girl."

Taylor: "That's nice of you to give them time alone. I'm sure you wanted to see her again before you do later."

Christian: (nods) "You're right. I do." (chuckles) "Ever since we admitted our true feelings for each other, I haven't wanted to be away from her. But, I need to respect the fact that she's very close to Kate and they're best friends."

Taylor: "That's nice of you. Not sure I could be that respectful. I guess, if I love the woman enough, I'd learn to be."

Christian: "Very true." (sighs softly) "There is something that I have wanted to do for a while now. I'm going to wait until the conclusion of our first date."

Taylor: (tilts his head) "What's that?"

Christian: "Kiss her rosy red plump lips. I have fantasized about that countless times."

Taylor: "At the end of your date night, your fantasy will become a reality."

Christian: (smiles) "I can't wait."

***Northwest Hospital & Medical Center***

(At Ana's hospital room, Ana and Kate are busy chatting)

Kate: "Getting fed up with this place yet?"

Ana: (rolls her eyes) "I can't wait until I'm finally out of here."

(Ana winces a bit as she slowly moves out of bed. She was getting tired of being in this fucking bed all the time. She was ready to leave. She knew, however, that she still had a few days to go. Just the other day, she was admitted to the hospital for a gunshot wound. The only bright side to being here was seeing Kate and her new beau. She smiled wide at the thought of seeing Christian later tonight)

(Ana was happy that Christian was coming by later. He was right, though. She wanted to spend some time with Kate before her date with Elliot)

(Ana was walking around more. But, the doctors wanted her to rest for another day before they'd release her. In reality, she understood. She was just stubborn. Ana faces her friend)

Ana: "Are you excited to see Elliot later?"

Kate: (chuckles) "You better believe it. It feels like forever since we planned it. I'm curious about where we're going."

Ana: (giggles) "I take it your man didn't give you any hints or details?"

Kate: (sighs in defeat) "No, and I hate that! I like to know what I'm doing regarding dating. But, I'm sure that it will be worth it." (shrugs) "How about you? Are you getting excited for your first official date, Steele? I'm guessing that it'll have to wait until you're released from here."

Ana: "I'm curious, as well, on where he's taking me. I'm sure it'll be pricey, knowing him. I just hope it's nothing too extravagant."

Kate: "I think it's safe to say, with how that man feels about you, he's going to spoil you…without going overboard."

(Ana goes to her friend and gently hugs her)

Ana: "Well, you better go home and get ready, Kavanagh. I imagine it won't be too long before Elliot picks you up. You want to give yourself enough time to look your best." (smiles)

Kate: (laughs) "Yes, ma'am!"

(The best friends offer a smile at the other before Kate departs. Ana sighs as she gets back in bed and reads a magazine. She was looking forward to seeing Christian in a few hours)

***A Few Hours Later***

(At Kate and Ana's apartment, Kate has finished getting ready for her date with Elliot. She is wearing a black strapless dress with a small black coat that covers her shoulders, part of her arms, and her arm pits. As for her hair, the sides are pulled back with sparkly barrettes. She has on pink eye shadow and blush with sparkly lip gloss. Finally, for her feet, Kate is wearing black three-inch-high heels)

(Kate decided to wear a golden cross necklace that Ana got her years ago. She couldn't resist wearing pearl earrings that she splurged on about a year ago)

(Kate looked at herself in the mirror and smiled in satisfaction. She liked what she was wearing and hoped Elliot did, too)

Kate: "Okay, Kavanagh. You look good. Let's just hope that your date agrees with you."

(About a half-hour later, there was a knock at the front door. Kate smiled as she was hoping it was Elliot. She goes to answer the door, revealing Elliot. As for Elliot's dressing attire, he's wearing a black tuxedo with matching black dress shoes. His short hair is spiked. He's wearing a small gold hoop earring in his left ear)

(He chuckles nervously as he briefly looked himself all over before facing his date)

Elliot: "I was worried I overdressed. I just wanted to dress up nice for you since it's our first date."

Kate: (grins) "That makes two of us. I didn't want to overdress, either. I wanted to look my best."

Elliot: (smiles) "That you certainly did. For the record, you look absolutely breathtaking."

Kate: (grins) "You look handsome yourself. I appreciate you dressing up, too. Some guys wouldn't."

(Elliot takes a step forward and looks at his girl)

Elliot: "For you, my dear, I'd dress up anytime."

(She couldn't help the blush from forming, causing him to playfully chuckle)

Elliot: "Aw, I'm making you blush. I love it. But, it's the truth."

(She grabs her purse. Elliott offers her his arm, which she happily takes. They start on their amazing night ahead. Kate couldn't help but wonder where her beau was taking her. When they reach the 'Zig Zag Café', her curiosity arises)

Kate: "I don't think I've been here before."

Elliot: "It's a nice place. I've been here a few times with my college buddies." (nervously) "I hope this place is nice enough for you."

Kate: "Hey."

(Kate gently moves Elliot's face with her hand so he's looking directly in her eyes)

Kate: (smiles) "Never worry that you don't impress me or that you feel you don't treat me to the finest things in life. You do just fine. You always impress me with your kind words and charming wit."

(She gives him a tender hug, which he quickly reciprocates. It felt so good being in her arms. After they break free, he smiles at his girl)

Elliot: "Are you hungry, milady?"

Kate: "Mmm, starving."

Elliot: (nods) "Good. Me, too."

(They pick a spot in the middle of the small restaurant. He pulls out her chair and helps her settle in it before taking a seat across from her. A male waiter soon comes up to the couple and gives them their menus)

Male waiter: "Hello. My name is Mark and I'll be your waiter this evening. What can I start you off with to drink?"

Elliot: "Coke, please."

Kate: "Iced tea with a slice of lemon on the side. Thank you."

Mark: (nods) "No problem. I'll give you a few minutes to decide your food choices."

(Mark walks away and a few minutes later, brings them their beverages. He asks them if they know what they want or if they'd like more time. They both nod that they're ready to order. Mark gets out his notepad and pen)

Elliot: "I would like a steak, medium-rare. Baked potato with butter and sour cream on the side. Also, ketchup for the steak."

Mark: "Sounds good." (writing down the order)

(Mark looks at Kate)

Mark: "And for you, Miss?"

Kate: "Chef salad with cucumbers and carrots. French dressing in a small cup. Thank you."

Mark: "No problem." (writing down the order)

(Elliot and Kate offer the waiter the menus back, which he takes. He says he'll bring their food as soon as it's done. They nod as he walks away. The new couple engage in small talk while their food is ready. After about fifteen minutes, Mark comes to them with their dishes)

Mark: "Here you go. I hope you enjoy it and have a great night."

(Kate and Elliot both thank the waiter before quickly admiring their meals)

Elliot: "Are you ready, Kavanagh?"

Kate: "Hell, yes, Grey."

(They both chuckled as they eat. About halfway through their meal, they start chatting while continuing to eat)

Elliot: "How's your salad?"

Kate: "Very filling and tasty. How's your steak?"

Elliot: "It's awesome. How long have you lived in Seattle?"

Kate: "Most of my life. Ana and I have been best friends pretty much all our lives, too. We've lived

together maybe the last 5 years as we're both 23 now."

Elliot: "You two seem pretty close. Have you guys ever had disagreements or fights?"

Kate: (nods) "Yeah, we've had arguments here and there. But, thankfully, nothing major. We've been lucky in that area. How about you and Christian? Are you two close?"

Elliot: "Well, I'm in school during the school year. I'm not sure that we're 'super' close, but we're family. We're there for each other if needed. He has his life and I have mine. He calls me up sometimes asking how I'm doing. I do the same."

Kate: "Sounds like when the situation arises, you're there for each other. That's good, being you're family."

Elliot: "How about you and your family?"

(Kate turns silent and looks down a bit before Elliot breaks the silence with a sincere face)

Elliot: "I would completely understand if you prefer not to discuss it, Kate. I know it's probably a delicate subject. I will leave it up to you. Please know I meant no harm."

(Kate offers a smile and shakes her head)

Kate: "I know you mean well. I've just never talked about it with anyone except for Ana for obvious reasons and then with your brother. Ana and I got into some legal trouble, which Christian kindly helped us with."

Elliot: (concerned) "Is everything okay now?"

Kate: (nods) "We believe so. Christian, Taylor, and that lawyer took care of it. Should there be issues in the future, your brother said not to worry as he's on it." (smiles) "Your brother and his legal team have been great at helping us."

Elliot: (nods & smiles) "I'm glad." (sincere look) "Please know I'm here if you ever need anything. I know we haven't known each other that long. I'd like to think that we're getting closer."

Kate: "I agree that we are getting closer. Thank you for being there. I appreciate it."

(Elliot rests his hand on the table, which Kate complies. After her hand is in his, he massages it as he tilts his head and grins. Truth be told, Kate did want to open up to her new beau. However, she wanted to wait a little longer as she is still getting to know him. The way she saw it, there was no rush on anything)

(After the meal is done with, Elliot pays the bill. He offers her his hand and smiles wide)

Elliot: "Would you like to take a walk with me, Miss Kavanagh? We can go through the park and feed the birds that land before us and get to know each other more."

(She rests her hand in his and smiles)

Kate: "I would love to, Mr. Grey."

(Elliot helps Kate up and they happily take a walk a little bit through Seattle before landing in the park. They sit on the bench near the large bird pond. Elliot walks to a man that's by a post and buys some bird food. Afterward, he walks back to his girl and gives her some bird seed. They take turns throwing a bit on the ground. A bunch of different kinds of birds hungrily eat)

(Both Elliot and Kate grin as they watch the famished creatures eat their food. Kate is happily shocked when, as she's about to throw more food, a bird falls to her hand and happily eats. She turns to Elliot, who nods and wraps one arm around her shoulder. She found it exciting to feed the birds like this)

(Moments later, the bird flies away and the rest of the flock depart after having their meal. The new couple face each other and Elliot smiles tenderly)

Elliot: "You were a natural. They loved you."

Kate: (chuckles) "I've never done that before or had that happen before, either. I'm glad you were there with me."

Elliot: "Me, too. Have I told you yet that you look absolutely beautiful tonight?"

Kate: (grins) "Yes, but I don't mind hearing it again."

(They stare into the others eyes and smile before looking at the other's lips. They separately wondered if it was too early or too soon to share their first kiss. At that moment, they let fate decide. Elliot slowly leans forward, as if telling Kate his intentions. She happily obliges as she leans forward, too. They couldn't get over how great the kiss felt. Their lips felt perfect, and he loved the sweet taste of her sparkly lips gloss. After sharing another kiss, they break apart and smile at the other)

Elliot: "If I may be so bold to say…that kiss felt magical."

Kate: (nods) "I enjoyed it, too. I loved it. May it be the start of many more to come."

Elliot: (chuckles softly) "Can't wait."

(After playfully pecking her on the nose, he takes her hand in his and walks her home. When they arrive at Kate's doorstep, the new couple faces each other. They hold hands and smile)

Elliot: "I had a great time tonight. I hope you did, too."

Kate: (nods) "I did. I had an amazing time."

Elliot: "Here's to many more dates."

(He sweetly kisses her hand before departing. Kate tilts her head as she grins)

Kate: "Many more dates indeed."

(She unlocks the front door and goes in)

***Christian's Condo***

(Christian was getting ready to see his girl for a visit at the hospital. He heard a knock at the front door and wondered who it could be. He would be driving himself to the hospital. Maybe it was Elliot, who wanted to discuss how his date went. As Christian walks to the front door and answers, he speaks)

Christian: "Okay, Elliot. How'd your date go?"

(Christian grows wide-eyed at who the person was! Holy shit! What were they doing there? He stutters trying to speak)

Christian: "E…" (clears his throat) "…Elena. What are you doing here?"

Elena: (smiles) "Hello, Christian."
