Chapter 36

(As Elena grabs her purse from the coffee table next to the front door, she thinks aloud)

Elena: "Christian, you will see that we belong together. I know that I can help you realize that." (chuckles dryly) "You know that you shouldn't be with Ana as she doesn't know you the way I do. Then you'll fall into my arms and we'll be together just like we should've been all along."

(Once Elena opens the front door, she sees Taylor about to knock. He tilts his head as he speaks)

Taylor: "Going somewhere?"

Elena: (scoffs) "Not that it's any of your business, but I'm going to see Christian."

Taylor: (raises his eyebrows) "Are you sure that's a good idea?"

(Elena rolls her eyes in annoyance)

Elena: "Butt out of my life, Jason."

(Taylor takes a step forward with a serious expression)

Taylor: "Like you're butting out of Christian's life?"

(Elena folds her arms in anger)

Elena: "Mind your own damn business. You don't know anything about Christian and me."

(Taylor laughs incredulously at Elena's comment! Wow! The lady doesn't know when to give up! He shakes his head before nodding)

Taylor: "I know that Christian loves Ana. He also has told you that repeatedly, but you don't seem to get the picture."

(Elena takes a step forward and nods in insistence)

Elena: "Christian and I couldn't be together because of my marriage to Linc. That's all over now. The divorce has been finalized."

(Taylor shakes his head as he points at her)

Taylor: "Don't you get it, Robinson? It's too late for you and him. Christian's moved on."

(She tries to move past him as she spoke with a tone in her voice)

Elena: "I know that Christian loves me. You know it, I know it, and he knows it."

(Taylor doesn't move an inch as he speaks)

Taylor: "He may still have feelings for you on some level, but it's not enough to be with you. I think he's made it VERY clear that he's moved on."

(Taylor raises his hands to his sides, tilts his head, and speaks in a serious tone)

Taylor: "Let me ask you something, Robinson. Why in the hell would you want to be with a guy whose heart belongs to someone else? You know damn well that he doesn't love you. You're just a fucking drug, but drugs can be easily replaced."

(Elena narrows her eyes and purses her lips, turning her head slightly. She was fucking pissed off! She decided to twist the knife a bit)

Elena: "I'm not some damn drug to Christian. And who took Christian's heart? That little slut? She doesn't hold a candle to me."

(Taylor's eyes widen in a fury! Who the hell did the woman think she was?! He was losing his damn patience with this bitch! This time, he lowers his head a bit as he walks a few steps towards her, causing her to back up. He points at her with a deadly warning)

Taylor: "You better watch your goddamned mouth if you know what's good for you, lady. By the way? Miss Steele is twice the woman you are. The difference between you and her? She doesn't flipflop between men like you did with Mr. Grey and Linc."

Elena: (nods in insistence) "I know who I want now."

(Taylor gives her a weird look before he bursts out laughing! Wow! He couldn't believe the nerve)

Taylor: "I wonder how long that will last until Linc says he wants you back…again?"

Elena: (shakes her head) "That won't happen."

(Taylor crosses his arms over his chest as he continues to stare at the woman)

Elena: "You don't sound convinced."

Taylor: "Nope."

Elena: "Why do you care so much about this?"

Taylor: "Simple. Because Christian's my friend and Miss Steele doesn't deserve to be hurt."

(Elena decides to do something different. She smirks as she speaks)

Elena: "I'll get Christian back. I have no doubt."

Taylor: (scoffs) "Don't you get it, lady? He doesn't want you. Why are you fighting for a man who has made it crystal clear that he doesn't want you?"

(Elena starts to look less convincing. She tries not to show her hurt face, but was failing. She knew Taylor meant business, but the words were beginning to hurt her feelings. She looks away from him as he continued speaking)

Taylor: "Mr. Grey has moved on with Miss Steele. You may not like it, Elena, but you need to accept it. You lost; Ana won. For the record, though, it's not a competition. The difference between you and Ana? Ana didn't go between two men and cheat. Ana knew who she wants. You may want Christian now, but both Mr. Grey and I have lost count on how many times you have said that."

(Elena starts to get a little teary-eyed at Taylor's bluntness on the subject. She tried one last time to defend herself)

Elena: "Jason, I know who I want now…it's Christian."

(Taylor looks at her point-blank and speaks)

Taylor: "Christian doesn't want you, Robinson. The quicker you understand that, the better off you'll be."

Elena: "Why isn't Christian telling me all of this? He's never been shy about telling me things before."

(Taylor scoffs as he was seriously running out of patience)

Taylor: "Mr. Grey tried telling you, but you wouldn't listen! You need to get the fucking picture and stop living in a fantasy world!"

(Before Elena attempted to walk away, Taylor steps in front of her. He lowers his head a bit in a warning)

Taylor: "Christian told me to warn you. If you don't leave him alone, he's going to go the legal route."

Elena: (confused) "I-I don't understand. What legal route?"

Taylor: (nods) "You'll find out if you don't quit harassing Mr. Grey."

(Before Elena can say anything more, Taylor walks away)

***Ana's & Kate's Apartment***

Ana: (confused) "I don't understand, Christian. What does Elena have to do with this?"

(Christian takes Ana's hands in his and speaks)

Christian: "Please know, Ana, that I love you and only you."

Ana: (nods) "I love you, too, but what's going on?"

Christian: "I haven't kept secrets from you and I don't want to start now."

(He sighs deeply in despair as he tells her about his encounter with Elena. How he almost succumbed to Elena's advances. He wanted her to leave and told her to get out. Gail finally threatened to toss her out. As he is telling her about his encounter with Elena, Ana gets teary-eyed that Christian didn't immediately throw Elena out as well as let himself get drawn in again)

Christian: (sighs) "I-I tried. I didn't want to be accused of being too rough with her."

(Ana's eyes flood with tears while listening to his confession)

Ana: "You almost had sex with her."

Christian: (sadly nods) "Yes." (pleads) "I want to make it crystal clear, baby. That I may be a bit drawn to her, but she means absolutely NOTHING to me. I made it crystal clear that I want you and only you."

(Ana looks away as the tears flow. She blinks a few times, causing the tears to fall down her cheeks. She sniffles as she speaks)

Ana: "Christian, I can't help but wonder if I'm just a stand-in because you don't know what you want."

(Christian takes Ana's hands to his lips and softly kisses them before declaring his feelings for her)

Christian: "You're the love of my life, baby. Taylor went to go talk to Elena and get through to her."

(Ana cries in the palm of her hands before facing him again)

Ana: "How can I be sure that I'm who you want, Christian? How do I know that I won't lose you to her when things get rough between us? I feel like I'm already losing you to her."

(Christian can't help the tears from forming in his eyes as he speaks)

Christian: (pleads) "Please believe in us, baby. Believe in our love for each other. I love you more than my own life. I have never, NEVER felt like this for someone the way I feel for you."

(She needed space. She slowly gets up from the couch and walks a few steps. She wipes her tear-stained eyes with the sleeve of her long black sleeve shirt)

Christian: (sniffles) "It's tearing me up that you feel this way. What can I do, Anastasia, to make you believe me?

(She turns around, crosses her arms over her chest, and shrugs at the man she loves)

Ana: "I honestly don't know. I don't know what to feel or how to feel right now."

(She wipes her eyes again, sniffles, and then speaks)

Ana: "Right now, I would like you to leave so I can think. I need time to process all of this and see where I go from here."

(He didn't want to leave, but he respected her decision. He gets up from the couch, goes to the front door, and leaves. He falls down against the front door and break down in tears. He cries as he may have just lost the love of his life forever)

***Inside the Apartment***

(Ana sits back down and looks ahead in sadness as she wonders if she'll ever be enough for him)
