Nana could feel her own fear as well as Izuku's.
She couldn't blame him; even in her admittedly incomplete memories, she'd never heard Nezu curse.
And she was pretty sure that an event like that would be traumatizing enough to stick in her memory.
"Yeah," Izuku agreed, "I'm pretty traumatized right now."
Nana, naturally, fell back on sass.
"Hey, Nezu, how are ya? It's been a while, hasn't it? I was back in town, so I thought I'd drop in," she said.
Nana knew Izuku was rolling his eyes behind her without even looking.
Nezu raised an eyebrow, his pleasant expression back as he regarded her calmly.
Izuku took over, saying, "Principal Nezu, it seems like One For All has had another unexpected effect. This morning, Nana appeared in front of me. She's clearly alive, and I don't think this is temporary, since she seems very real and unaffected by any sort of instabilities. She also is capable of using One For All, though it is her version, and I am unaffected by it. We were hoping to see if she could establish a cover story in order to protect the secret of One For All."
"Yeah, I'm real. You know what else is real? My ass, judging by how you like looking at it so much," Nana told him telepathically, mostly to try and make him blush.
Sadly, she didn't succeed.
Instead Nezu nodded and replied, "Thank you, Midoriya. This is quite an unprecedented situation, isn't it? From what I'm seeing, Miss Shimura, you seem to have become a teenager again, as well. This is all very strange, certainly. But as always, UA is happy to help the wielders of One For All. What sort of cover story were you thinking would be best?"
Nana nodded. "Well, there is a complicating factor," she explained, "this morning, as Izuku and I were trying to get our bearings, we got walked in on by one of his friends, Uraraka. In a panic, I lied and claimed to be Izuku's girlfriend who had recently transferred here. Would it be possible to make that lie the truth by including me in Izuku's class?"
Nezu nodded slowly, "While I think that complicates things, it is certainly possible. It's been a while since I've had to forge official documents and create a new identity. I'd almost forgotten how much fun it is! Now, before we continue, does anyone else know about Miss Shimura?"
Nana winced, as did Izuku.
Izuku replied, "Um, yes, unfortunately. While we were figuring things out this morning, another one of my classmates found us and immediately ran to tell everyone. We aren't sure, but I think it's a safe bet to say that Class A knows by now. And...they may jump to some conclusions."
Nezu asked, "Why would he jump to conclusions?"
"Well I may have been naked at the time," Nana supplied.
She heard Toshi cough in surprise, while Nezu looked at her with an expression of resignation.
She snapped, "What? It's not my fault that coming back from the dead doesn't include a clothing option!"
Nezu nodded. "I suppose that makes sense," he said, "but nevertheless, it does make things more complex. Also, if I may ask, why are you two using each other's given names if you've only known each other for a few hours?"
"Should we tell him?" Izuku asked Nana telepathically.
"It's Nezu," she replied, "he probably already knows."
She shrugged and said, "Apparently, a side effect of my resurrection has been a psychic link between myself and Izuku. It's kind of hard not to be familiar with someone when you can see into their head whenever you want to, and when you don't want to."
"Most curious," Nezu replied, ignoring Toshinori becoming increasingly confused as he watched the exchange, "we will certainly have to investigate this more, especially since it seems as though you two are already using it to communicate on subjects you don't want us to overhear. Well, I know it has been a strange time for both of you, but there is one more issue we must address."
"What's that?" Izuku asked.
Nezu became serious again, surveying the two teenagers and the very confused retired pro.
He said, "Well, in order to make your story of a transfer into UA's heroics department make sense, you need to have a good reason for it. Simply put, UA almost never accepts transfers, for any reason. Having one in the middle of second year, into a class that's already full, would require an incredibly strong justification."
Izuku nodded. He couldn't think of anything, and he wasn't sure what would even count as a strong reason.
Toshinori was similarly thinking, with no results.
"I have an idea," Nana said, "but Toshi, you have to be okay with it first."
Startled, Toshinori said, "What, me? How could I help?"
Nana replied, "It's pretty simple. It's a sad but true fact that nepotism is fairly common in heroics schools, right?"
Nezu nodded disgustedly. "Yes, sadly. UA is not quite as bad about it, thankfully," he responded.
Nana continued, "Well...what if we used that? What if UA accepted the daughter of someone incredibly influential?"
Izuku, reading her mind, went wide-eyed as he finally saw what her plan was. But he stayed quiet, letting her finish her thought.
"What if I told Izuku's class that I was All Might's daughter?" Nana said.
Nezu looked thoughtful. "It could work," he said, "but then you would have to explain why you can fly in addition to having his quirk."
Nana replied, "Just call it a dual quirk. My mother, who has to remain unnamed for security reasons, had a flight quirk, and I inherited both abilities, but had to stay secret for my own safety. I've finally convinced my dad to let me attend UA after years of wheedling and training with him, and he used his massive influence to get me in. That's why you need to be okay with it, Toshi. Aside from claiming I'm your daughter, this could reflect badly on you if it gets out someday."
Toshinori stroked his chin in consideration. "While I must admit I don't like the idea of lying," he began, "I think it's a very solid idea. With a little bit of acting on all our parts, it will be quite convincing. And my reputation can take a hit or two, especially for you, Nana. I...I never got the chance to say it, before...but I thought of you as my mother. And for what I owe you, I'll happily do it."
Nana's smile was sad and reminiscing as she told him, "Thank you, Toshi. Like I said, I don't remember much, but I do remember that I thought of you as my own, as well."
Izuku and Nana realized that tears were beading on the old hero's face as Nana said that. It made Nana's heart feel warm and sad, all at once.
"If I didn't think it would actually break Toshi's brain, I'd want you to kiss me," she told Izuku.
"And if I wasn't determined to not explain the fact that we're dating to All Might until he's used to thinking of you as a teenager and not as his mother figure, I would kiss you," Izuku replied.
Toshinori looked like he wanted to say something else, something that conflicted with what she'd just said.
But he didn't. Instead, a look of amused horror drifted across his face.
"It's going to be so weird to hear you call me Dad," he mused.
Nana grinned wide. "Oh, it definitely will. Which just makes this more fun," she informed him.
Nezu clapped his hands. "Very well then, it's decided!" he declared, "I'll get to work on the paperwork for it in a bit. In the meantime, let's bring your home room teacher into this. I have one request, though, and that's to not tell him the reality of the situation. Instead, consider this the test run for your lie; if it works on Aizawa, it will work on anyone."
Nana and Toshinori nodded; Izuku looked like he was only just realizing what he was getting into.
"Am I allowed to prank him?" Nana asked.
Nezu grinned. "Please do," he responded.
Aizawa had no idea why he was being called into Nezu's office, but his bet was that Midoriya did something stupid again.
For once, he thought, it was wrong, but he wished it wasn't.
When he walked into the office, Midoriya was actually sitting there.
Instantly, Aizawa said, "Midoriya, what did you break this time?"
"N-Nothing, Mr. Aizawa!" Izuku replied, trying to avoid looking at Nana as she floated in the air over the doorway.
"I don't believe you," Aizawa said.
Nana floated down slowly as Aizawa moved further into the room, a wide grin on her face as she reached out for him.
"Boo!" she said, smacking Aizawa on the top of the head.
The reaction was instant. Aizawa, with hair-trigger reflexes from years as an underground hero, leaped straight up, his quirk already activated as he locked on to Nana.
Nana wobbled, then fell as she suddenly lost her quirk, yelling, "AAAHHHHH!" as she fell to the ground, getting the wind knocked out of her.
Aizawa came back down, already in a fighting stance as he yelled, "Who the hell are you? Identify yourself!"
Nezu called, "Aizawa, please don't attack the students where I can't claim deniability."
Aizawa whirled again, and said, "Wait, she's a student?"
Nezu nodded. "Yes," he answered, "this is your new transfer student, Nana Shimura."
Aizawa was confused. "It's the middle of the year, and my class is still, sadly, full. Why is she transferring in?" he asked.
Nezu pointed at Toshinori, who said, "Because she is my daughter, and she has finally decided to pursue heroics, after a year abroad at a training facility in Europe."
This was the story he, Nana, Izuku, and Nezu had finally settled on. Toshinori hoped he was selling it convincingly.
Aizawa glared at him in horror, then back at Nana.
Sensing an opportunity to make things even more convincing, Nana hopped up, dusted herself off, put her hands on her hips, and gave her widest smile, the one she'd worn as a hero, and the one she'd taught Toshi all those years ago.
"Hi, Mr. Aizawa!" she said as she beamed, "it's nice to meet you! My dad has told me a bunch about you."
"Oh god no," Aizawa thought, "not another sunshine child. All Might is bad enough, but since when does he have a daughter?"
He said, "I was not aware you had a daughter, All Might."
Toshinori nodded. "She lived with her mother, protected by secrecy," he explained, "we thought it best to keep her parentage quiet until she wished it to be known."
Aizawa supposed that made sense.
He still had a few questions, though.
First, he turned to Nezu, who had been watching the exchange with amusement.
"Do I have to have another problem child?" he wheedled.
Nezu nodded.
Aizawa sighed in resignation. Then, he turned back to the original problem child.
"Midoriya, why are you here?" he demanded, "are you somehow also All Might's kid or something?"
The green-haired student blushed wildly and flailed his hands as he answered, "Oh, no, Mr. Aizawa! I'm here because...because…"
"Because he's my boyfriend!" the newly identified Nana squealed, floating over to him and hauling him into a deep kiss.
Aizawa didn't need to start his day with this bullshit.
At least All Might looked distinctly uncomfortable, too.
"Good," Aizawa thought, "he deserves it for reproducing and giving this world another smile like that."
When the students finally stopped kissing, Aizawa said dryly, "Congratulations, Midoriya. You're officially even more of a problem now, because I can never unsee that."
Midoriya looked sheepish, while Nana just smiled, her arms curled protectively around Midoriya's chest as she floated a few feet off the ground.
Then, Nezu started to speak again, making Aizawa turn to listen.
"I apologize for the late notice," Nezu said, "but I needed to clear this with the security layers around All Might's family first. There's also an issue we'd like your input on."
Aizawa replied, "If she gets pregnant, I'm not performing a shotgun marriage."
Izuku spluttered, as did All Might, while Nezu said, "Even though you are licensed to do so, now is not the time for this. Instead, we wanted your suggestion on what to do with dorms and sleeping arrangements. Obviously, the building only has twenty rooms, so Miss Shimura is going to have to share with someone. Who do you suggest?"
Aizawa figured that this wouldn't be a punishment for them, but what the hell.
"Just put her in Midoriya's room," he said, "I don't give a fuck what they do, and that way nobody else gets disturbed by them."
Midoriya looked like he was going to have a heart attack; Shimura looked excited.
"I guess I know who initiated things there," Aizawa mused, "although I wonder how they met."
Nezu nodded. "Very well, then. Shouta, would you mind taking them to meet the rest of your class?"
Aizawa groaned, and said, "Alright, problem children, follow me."
As they did, Shimura said, "Hey, why am I a problem child?"
Aizawa turned to glare at her. "Because, you are dating Midoriya, and his problem child status has rubbed off on you," he informed the black-haired girl.
She shrugged in response.
"Well, at least I can have some fun messing with the other students," Aizawa decided.
When Mr. Aizawa finally led them into the common room, everyone turned in shock to see Izuku walk in the front door with the very girl Kaminari had described.
"Wait, what the hell?" Mina demanded, "how did you get out of the dorms?"
Aizawa raised an eyebrow, and turned to Izuku.
"Do I want to know what she's talking about?" he asked.
Izuku shook his head.
"Then I won't ask," Aizawa declared.
Then, he turned back to the class, almost all of whom were in the common room by now.
"Everyone, I have an important announcement. This here is your new classmate, Nana Shimura," he said, stepping aside to let Nana come forward.
Instantly, Kaminari cried, "Wait, what? What were you doing in Izuku's room this morning?"
Aizawa chose to never think about the implications of what he'd just heard.
Instead, he said, "Shimura, you get to tell them everything else. I'm not dealing with any of that. You all, if I hear about any problems, I'm going to expel someone just to get some peace and quiet. Now, I'm going to find some alcohol. Goodbye."
Then, he walked out the door, leaving Nana and Izuku facing the class.
"Okay," Mina said, "Shimura, nice to meet you. What the hell is going on?"
Nana took a deep breath; hopefully she would be convincing.
"Hey everyone, I'm Nana! I just transferred from a training school in Europe, and my quirk is Float!" she chirped, demonstrating with a gentle ascent of a few inches before she sank back down.
Nana saw Uraraka in the back of the room, giving her a thumbs up.
One by one, the class all greeted her, although Kaminari couldn't even look at her without blushing.
Nana could feel Izuku getting annoyed about that.
"My, getting possessive, are we?" she teased.
"Oh, uh, sorry about that, Nana, I'll stop-" Izuku replied.
"No, it's okay. I like it when you want me all to yourself," she replied.
Then, she realized she'd missed a question from a tall, refined-looking girl who Izuku told her was named Yaoyorozu.
"Oh, um, sorry, could you repeat that?" she asked shyly.
Yaoyorozu shrugged and said, "I was curious how you managed to be allowed to transfer into this class in the middle of second year, especially since we still have twenty students?"
Ah, it was the moment of truth, then.
Intentionally acting shy, she began, "Oh, um, about that...I don't know if I should say…"
She slowly looked to Izuku, who, as they'd planned, gently reached around her shoulders, embracing her.
"Nana, it's okay, you can trust them," he said, ignoring the gasps and confusion as he used Nana's name, "I promise, every one of these people is a hero that you can rely on."
She slowly nodded.
"Man, I should have been an actor!" Nana declared to Izuku.
Out loud, she said, "Thanks, Izuku… Okay, sorry for not trusting you guys. The truth is, I'm All Might's daughter."
There was dead silence for a moment, as people absorbed that.
Then Kirishima yelled, "Wait, really? That's awesome!"
And instantly, everyone seemed to believe her, calling out exclamations or questions of their own.
Was it because of Izuku visibly supporting her?
That was kind of inspiring to see, actually, the whole class trusting Izuku enough to know he wouldn't lie about something like this.
Then, Kaminari, still clearly focused on the events of that morning, said, "Wait, Izuku, you were fucking All Might's daughter?"
That got everyone staring at Izuku again.
How could Nana pass up an opportunity like this?
She floated up towards the ceiling until her waist was at Izuku's eye level and she was behind him. As everyone watched, she suddenly sat on his shoulders, still using her quirk, but wrapping her muscular thighs around Izuku's neck to anchor her.
Putting her hands in his hair, she grinned widely and said, "Actually, All Might's daughter is fucking him."
Once again, nobody seemed to move for a second.
Then, several people turned bright red, while others screamed, "TOO MUCH INFORMATION, GUYS!"
Mina and Hagakure, though, just laughed themselves hoarse.
Finally, Yaoyorozu stepped forwards and said, "I'm sorry for the poor reception, but welcome, Shimura! We're glad to have you!"
From somewhere in the back, Sero called, "Yeah, but I bet Midoriya's even more glad-OW!"
Uraraka smiled sweetly even as Sero doubled over in pain from the elbow she'd planted in his side. The brown haired girl said, "Hi, Shimura! It's great to meet you properly!"
Nana smiled. "I like her, she hurts people," she said.
Izuku replied, "I don't think that's a good reason for liking people."
"Hey, don't judge me like that, babe," Nana told him.
There wasn't a response, maybe because she'd sent him into a crisis by calling him "babe."
Nana was good at doing things like that.
She decided it was time to get to know her new heroics class.
They seemed like they would all be great someday.
Until this moment, Nana hadn't been sure what her long-term goal was. She'd started setting things up at UA because it was where Izuku was, and Toshi, and almost everything she could remember.
Now, she'd found her purpose in her second life.
She was going to be a hero again, and this time, she would get a happy ending.
And if she didn't get one, she'd make one.
