Gran Torino didn't stay long once he and Nana touched back down in front of Toshinori and Izuku. He spent a few minutes asking Nana how she was settling in, a few more threatening Toshinori with all manner of agonizing injuries if he ever even thought about hiding something like Nana's return from him again, and a few more after that wishing Izuku good luck in a tone that made Izuku suspect he wasn't talking about training.
After that, he sped off again, heading for home with a wave and a promise to be back soon. Nana watched him go with a smile, happy that at least a few people remembered her.
She turned back to Izuku just as Toshi said, "You two okay to head back to the dorms yourself? I have some paperwork to finish up in my office."
Izuku answered, "Yeah, we're fine. See you, All Might!"
"You know you can call me Toshinori, right, kid?" Toshi asked, making Izuku rub his head sheepishly as Nana hid a grin with her hand.
Nana's boyfriend admitted, "Sorry, but you'll always be All Might to me."
Toshi just grinned, patting Izuku on the shoulder as he started to head back to UA, while Nana told Izuku, "That's very cute, you know that?"
"Not as cute as you," Izuku retorted.
"You...you...I hate you," Nana spluttered, which only made Izuku laugh and pat her on the head. The indignity of it almost masked the fact that Nana sighed and leaned into the touch like a cat.
"I hate being shorter than you…" she grumbled to cover it up.
Finally, Izuku spoke out loud again, teasing, "Well, it's not like you have a quirk that lets you have total freedom to hover at whatever height you want or anything!"
Nana brightened so fast, it was like a lightbulb had gone off over her head.
"You're right!" she said, "also, I know what we're doing now!"
Nana grabbed Izuku's hand and began to drag him down the path, in the opposite direction from the dorms.
"Wait, where are we going?" Izuku wondered, "I thought we were going back to the dorms!"
Nana laughed, "Yeah, you thought! Why would we go back there, when we have way better things to do?"
"Like what?" Izuku asked, trying to keep up with Nana as she raced towards the large, open field UA had as a backup training ground.
"I'm going to keep my promise!" Nana responded, so excited by now that her feet were lifting off the ground.
"What are you talking about?" Izuku pressed, awfully scared by now.
When Nana was excited, it usually meant he was in danger.
As they neared her destination, Nana told him, "I'm going to teach you how to fly!"
Izuku's eyes went wide, and he gulped.
Yep, he was definitely in danger.
A few minutes later, Izuku and Nana were standing in the empty field, facing each other. Izuku was trying not to tremble, while Nana was studying her boyfriend, as though evaluating his potential.
Nervously, Izuku said, "N-Nana, I don't know about this…"
"Oh, don't be a baby, you'll be fine!" Nana told him with a grin, "besides, it's not the flying part that you should be afraid of!"
"W-what should I be afraid of?" Izuku asked as his stomach churned with anticipation.
Nana's grin was evil as she replied, "Falling, of course!"
She laughed as Izuku flinched, remembering her crazy loops from the first day she'd returned, and how he'd been convinced that he was about to fall to his death.
Nana saw her boyfriend's distress, and her smile faded away.
She assured him, "Don't worry, Izuku, it's really not that bad. Flying is simple, once you get the hang of it."
"But how am I supposed to get the hang of it?" Izuku asked.
Nana smiled again, warmly this time, as she answered, "We'll get to that."
She crossed her arms over her chest, assessing her muscular boyfriend one last time. He was only wearing a t-shirt and shorts, so Nana could admire just how hot he was. Strapping muscles, gentle eyes, scarred and rough hands that still felt so good on her…
Izuku frowned as he sensed Nana's distraction. "Nana, stop drooling," he told her dryly.
Nana shook herself in surprise, clearing her head. "Sorry about that, I was daydreaming," she said with absolutely zero shame.
Izuku raised an eyebrow. "What were you daydreaming about?" he asked evenly, even though he knew exactly what she had been thinking about.
"What I want to do to you tonight," Nana told him cheerily, "and no, you don't get to know yet."
Izuku sighed and asked, "Can you please focus?"
"Of course!" Nana replied, "now where was I...oh, yeah! How exactly does your whole "using the quirks of previous holders" thing work, anyway?"
Izuku scratched his head, trying to think of the best way to answer Nana's question. Eventually, he shrugged and admitted, "I'm, ah, not sure, exactly."
Nana sighed. "Okay, simpler question," she said, "what quirks other than One For All itself have you been using?"
Izuku looked sheepish as he answered, "Um, none other than Black Whip, and even that one only when I have to."
Nana looked at Izuku strangely. "Let me get this straight: other than Black Whip, which doesn't sound familiar, you haven't used any of the other quirks?"
"No," Izuku confirmed.
Nana pressed two fingers against the bridge of her nose and let out a long sigh. "Why not?" she asked in a tone that suggested she was awfully close to pulling a Gran Torino and smacking him violently on the head.
Izuku replied, "Well, Black Whip is the only one that I actually know how to activate. All of the others just...haven't shown up yet, and I don't really think I can figure out how to use a power I've never used before. That's like telling me to move my third leg when I didn't know I had one."
"Fair enough," Nana agreed, "but why not Black Whip?"
Izuku shrugged. "I mostly don't want to risk people getting suspicious when I suddenly sprouted a new quirk out of nowhere," he explained.
"What are you talking about?" Nana asked.
"If I suddenly have a whole new power and no good explanation for it, people start asking questions," Izuku said, "and I don't want people to think that I have multiple quirks and start accusing me of...I don't know, being a Nomu or something."
Nana made a confused face. "What the fuck is a Nomu?" she asked. She tried to probe Izuku's memories for an answer, but she only got confused snatches of fear and horror and disgust at something large and lumbering and inhuman before Izuku gently steered her away from the memories and back into the real world.
She didn't fight it. If Izuku didn't feel ready to share something, she would respect that. If his memories became important, she trusted him to share it with her. If they were painful, Nana didn't have a right to force him to dig them back up for the sake of her curiosity.
Izuku opened his mouth to reply, before clearly thinking better of it. "You know what? That's a conversation for another day," he decided.
Nana steered things back on track, saying, "Okay, I suppose I can understand that, even if I still think you're kind of silly for not using all the badass quirks you got for free. You really need to decide who you can trust with the secret of One For All, by the way. I'd say that Uraraka girl, for one."
Izuku looked at her in surprise. He asked, "Wait, you think I should tell my friends about One For All?"
Nana nodded. "Of course!" she replied, "how else are you supposed to have people you can trust?"
Izuku still looked skeptical. "I don't know…" he began, "All Might said it was a risk."
Nana rolled her eyes. "Izuku, stop worrying about what All Might says so much," she ordered, "trust me, Toshi's not a god, and you shouldn't treat him like one. After all, would a god get stuck in a washing machine he was trying to haul off a beach?"
Izuku goggled at the image that appeared in his mind courtesy of Nana. A young All Might stood among a mound of trash, his upper body completely trapped inside an old washing machine, his arms pinned to his sides. His legs flailed helplessly as he let out muffled cries for help. A few feet away, Gran Torino and Nana howled with laughter, neither of them making a move to help Toshinori.
Izuku laughed, "Oh my god, how did he manage that?"
Nana whispered, "I have no idea! I just turned around, and he was wedged inside it!"
"What did you do?" Izuku asked, already knowing that it must have been glorious to see.
Nana grinned and replied, "Oh, I picked the washing machine up with him inside it and chucked it into the ocean."
Izuku stared at her in disbelief.
"Hey, don't look at me like that, it was completely safe! Sorahiko pulled him out of the wreckage before it sank!" Nana protested.
Izuku just kept staring at her. Eventually, he said, "So, uh...you trained All Might by making him clean up a beach?"
Nana nodded and replied, "Yep, sure did! It builds character!"
"Just like throwing people into the ocean?" Izuku thought sarcastically, forgetting that Nana could see that, too.
"Yes, Izuku, that builds character too," Nana told him.
Izuku decided to move on. He said, "All Might trained me the exact same way! Did he learn it from you, do you think?"
Nana got a proud look on her face. "I guess he did," she mused, "it looks like he learned something after all! Good for him. Did he ever throw you into the ocean?"
Izuku shook his head, making Nana pout.
Eventually, Nana straightened again. She told Izuku, "Okay, we're really off topic now. Back to teaching you how to fly."
Izuku looked a little green, but he nodded gamely. "So, how do we start?" he asked.
Nana tapped her chin thoughtfully. At last, she said, "I have an idea. I want you to jump using One For All."
Izuku wrinkled his nose in confusion. "What?" he asked, "how is that supposed to help?"
Nana explained, "Do you know the feeling of weightlessness you get right at the very top of a jump for a split second, before you start falling back down?"
Izuku nodded.
"Using my quirk feels kind of like that," Nana told him, "it might be easier for you to intentionally look for that feeling once you know what it is."
Izuku thought that that made sense, so he said, "Alright. How much of One For All should I use?"
"Let's say...forty percent?" Nana said after a moment, "for you, at least. I'll match that."
Izuku nodded, then bent his legs, getting ready to jump. He saw Nana doing the same, and he couldn't help but be grateful that she was sticking with him through this.
"Three...Two...One...Jump!" Nana said loudly, and then they shot into the sky, leaving shockwaves and huge clouds of dust in their wake.
Izuku felt his heart shoot up into his throat as they soared through the air, Nana's whoop of glee audible even over the wind rushing past his ears. They broke through a low cloud, and Izuku was briefly blinded.
When he blinked the sudden sunlight out of his eyes, Izuku felt his stomach seem to change direction inside of him, rising back up as he became weightless for a split second. He could see the cloud sitting below him like a puffy landscape all its own, its fellows stretching out to the horizons like marshmallow mountains. In the gaps between, he could see the city of Musutafu beyond the gates of UA's campus, which was a green island in a sea of gray, glinting toy buildings.
It was the strangest thing he'd ever felt; suddenly, he realized just how foreign this place was to human life. Izuku had never remembered until that second that humans have always dreamt of flying, even when they were never meant to.
And he didn't remember that he was afraid of heights until he and Nana were plummeting back down to earth at breakneck speeds.
Izuku felt his gut drop faster than his body, and panic quickly rose in him. He was going to fall to his death halfway through his second year of UA because he was a fucking idiot!
He screamed as the ground closed in, losing all control and flailing wildly.
He could hear Nana in his mind, telling him to use One For All to soften his landing, but his panic overwhelmed the link and the voice of reason on the other end.
Izuku closed his eyes as he prepared to go splat, but the impact never came. The back of his shirt got suddenly yanked as Nana latched onto him, and his momentum quickly stopped, his weight dragging the now-floating Nana another twenty feet down before they finally came to a stop.
Panting as she slowly let them down onto solid ground, Nana asked, "What the hell happened there, Izuku?"
As soon as his feet touched the grass, Izuku crumpled to his hands and knees, gasping for air as the adrenaline subsided. Nana waited above him, hands on her hips. When Izuku finally had his racing heart under control again, he managed to stand up, seeing a worried Nana watching him closely.
"I, um...I forgot to mention that I'm afraid of heights," Izuku admitted sheepishly.
Nana stared at him incredulously as she repeated, "You... forgot to mention that you were afraid of heights until you panicked and almost went splat."
Izuku nodded, and Nana looked visibly frustrated.
"I'm sorry," Izuku began, but Nana grabbed his shoulders and pressed a kiss against his lips as though trying to convince herself he was still there.
"Izuku," she said firmly, "don't apologize. I'm the one who should be apologizing!"
Izuku asked her, "Why? You just wanted to teach me something!"
Nana shook her head. "No, I should have asked! But I almost let you fall because I didn't even consider the chance that you might have something like that!" she said bitterly, clearly angry at herself.
"It's fine, you didn't know. It's not that bad for me, usually, it's just...something about being so high up set me off," Izuku assured her. Nana looked at him, clearly not satisfied, but also aware that they would sit here apologizing to each other all day for something that had, in the end, essentially been an accident.
They stood there clutching each other for a while, breathing hard at the scare, Nana initiating kisses every now and then as if reminding herself that Izuku didn't blame her. Eventually, though, Nana got control of herself again, and she let her arms slip from their position around Izuku's chest.
"Okay," she said, "that's enough for today."
"Wait, why? I can keep going, really!" Izuku protested.
Nana looked him dead in the eye. She told him, "No, Izuku. I can keep teaching you another time, but right now, you very nearly fell to your death, and it would have been my fault! You aren't in a good place to learn, and I'm not in a good place to teach. For now, let's do something else, okay?"
Izuku opened his mouth to protest again, but closed it before the words came out. He knew that Nana was right; his heart clenched just at the thought of trying to fly again right now.
"Okay," he agreed, "what do you want to do instead? Didn't you not want to go back to the dorms?"
Nana gave a sultry grin, slipping back into Izuku's arms and letting them travel down to her waist. Leaning in close, she slowly stroked his jaw, her hand traveling down his neck and onto his chest as she whispered, "Oh, I've got some pretty good ideas…"
Izuku shuddered at his girlfriend's seductive tone. He replied, "Nana, n-no…not out here…"
Nana just grinned again, bringing her lips closer to his ear as she told him, "Why not? After all, it would be fun if we…"
Suddenly, Nana brought the arm not stroking Izuku's chest, which had been tucked behind her back and sparking with fifty percent of One For All, forward in a brutal sucker punch directly to Izuku's gut, sending him careening into a nearby tree with a crash and a huge cloud of dust.
With an evil grin and a vapor trail rising from her fist, Nana yelled, "Do some sparring! Or are you too afraid to fight me, Izuku?"
Izuku lay dazed in a heap of shattered branches, gasping for air with a silly smile on his face.
He knew Nana had been planning something, and he loved it when she turned on a dime and decided she wanted to fight.
So she wanted to spar, huh? Well, Izuku thought that he owed her some revenge for all the teasing she'd been doing…
Unaware that his face had split into the exact same grin now gracing Nana's features, Izuku flung the debris off of him with a single motion, creating an explosion of wind and leaves as he stood.
"You're on!" he yelled back to Nana, standing in the middle of the empty field and grinning back at him.
She called out, "Get over here so I can beat your ass, lover-boy!"
Izuku charged One For All until he matched Nana's output exactly, and leapt forward in a blur, rocking the surrounding forest with a shockwave as he charged towards his girlfriend.
Purple lightning met green in a whirling storm of power.
With a smile, Nana met his Izuku's fist with her own, stopping him cold and creating yet another explosion of wind and force.
Identical smiles on their faces, they flew into an exchange of punches and kicks so fast the untrained eye wouldn't have been able to follow it.
The fight didn't last long; Nana expertly dodged Izuku's whirling kicks, using the openings he left to hammer him with punches and the occasional kick of her own.
Izuku was no slouch either, catching Nana off guard with well-timed feints and surprising her with a powerful kick to the midsection that sent her flying.
As she got to her feet, he called, "Still think I'm afraid, babe?"
Nana ignored the shudder of mingled happiness at hearing Izuku call her "babe" and lust at the confident, self-assured grin he got in the midst of a fight.
She wanted him to make that face when she finally got him in bed, too. But for now, she wasn't going to lose to someone who was, technically, a third of her age.
"Oh, you're on!" she replied, leaping forward again and getting ready to win with a single move.
Izuku braced for another fist-to-fist blow like the one that had opened the fight, swinging forward to meet her outstretched hand. He found only empty air as Nana suddenly used her quirk to alter her momentum moments before impact.
Izuku watched in disbelief as Nana masterfully somersaulted over him in an instant, leaving him completely defenseless.
Nana grinned; she had him now. Jumping straight up, she wrapped her legs around Izuku's neck from behind, her thighs squeezing him tightly as he suddenly choked, losing his air supply as their now-unbalanced weight brought Izuku crashing backwards to the ground, Nana still pinning him.
Even with Izuku's hands gripping Nana's legs around his neck, he couldn't hope to break her hold, and he knew it.
Nana taunted, "It looks like I win, babe. Now, then, are you going to submit, or not?"
Izuku managed a strangled rasp as Nana's thighs squeezed even tighter, reminding him of not too long before, when her thighs had been clamping around his head for a very different reason.
"Submit," Nana repeated in a low, intense voice that really shouldn't have turned Izuku on as much as it did.
Izuku sighed (or tried to with his restricted airway) and tapped out, surrendering the fight.
Nana relaxed her pin, letting Izuku breathe once more, but she kept them lying in the same position so she could tease Izuku some more.
"Man, you really do have a weakness for my thighs, don't you?" Nana observed, "it's a good thing I'm not a villain, or all I would have to do is bury your head with these things, and boom! I win!"
Izuku managed to turn partially towards her, his eyes glittering mischievously.
Nana froze mid-sentence when she saw that look; it definitely didn't bode well for her.
"Hey, what are you-ohhhhh…" Nana began, only to cut herself off with a moan as Izuku's lips pressed against the inside of her thigh.
Nana still hadn't had a chance to get new clothes yet, so she was still wearing a pair of shorts borrowed from Izuku, which were loose and baggy on her shorter frame. Thanks to the position she had ended the fight in, they had now fallen upwards, exposing much of the pale, untanned skin of her sensitive upper thighs, which Izuku was now kissing his way up slowly but surely.
Nana gasped, "What do you think you're doing…fuck…"
Izuku replied by opening up their link, letting the twinges of heat Nana got from his subtle kisses build on themselves until she was bucking and audibly moaning.
Izuku broke away from sucking hickeys into Nana's pale skin to tease, "Who's got a weakness now?"
"That's not...fair…" Nana said weakly, unable to collect herself with the pleasure just from having her thighs kissed still making her body thrum and her mind go blank.
Izuku just grinned, and was about to dive back down to torture Nana again when there was a loud cough from behind them.
Nana and Izuku whirled, scrambling off the ground as quickly as they could, unable to meet the knowing gaze of the person who had found them.
"Guys, could you really not keep that to your room?" Uraraka Ochako asked with an enormous smirk on her face.
Nana recovered quicker than Izuku, smoothing her clothes as she replied, "What can I say? Sometimes you need a change of scenery!"
Uraraka smiled and said, "Yeah, well, we don't, thank you very much."
Nana just laughed.
When Izuku finally managed to get control of himself, he stammered, "U-Uraraka? How much of that did you see?"
Uraraka replied, "Too much."
As Izuku turned bright red, his best friend laughed and explained, "I got here like halfway through your fight. It was super awesome, by the way."
"Why, thank you!" Nana responded as Izuku continued to babble apologies, "but why did you come out here?"
"I figured you'd be out here somewhere," Uraraka replied, "and I wanted to tell you that Iida, Tsu, and I were planning to go to the mall after school tomorrow. Would you like to come with us?"
Instantly, Nana could see that Uraraka had another motive. Something about the way the brown-haired girl's eyes were watching Nana suggested that Uraraka was deciding on the best way to take her apart if necessary.
Nana liked this girl more and more every time she saw just how protective Uraraka was of Izuku.
"Hey, Izuku, I think your friend wants to give me the shovel talk," Nana told Izuku telepathically.
"W-wait!" Izuku tried to reply, but it was too late.
Nana grabbed Izuku by the scruff of his neck and pulled him close.
"We'll be there!" she promised.
Uraraka's smile didn't change at all; only her voice did.
"Great!" she said a little too cheerfully, "I can't wait to talk with you!"
Nana just smiled as the bubbly girl walked away. Izuku really knew how to pick his friends, didn't he?
Nana turned back to Izuku, who had finally stopped spluttering.
"Alright, we're headed back to the dorms, too," Nana told him.
"Why?" Izuku asked.
Nana's grin was predatory, and it made Izuku sigh and shudder at the same time.
"Because, babe," Nana said matter-of-factly, "we just got interrupted, and I've decided that my reward for beating you is going to be your mouth. On me."
Well, at least her reward would be fun for Izuku, too.
