Chapter 1:
Itachi was on the phone arguing with his recent girlfriend of nine months she had felt it was her business to tell him who he could be friends with and that he spent too much time studying and not enough time her. Her idea of a good time was parting and hanging out at the mall just to show him off. It didn't bother him much at times. He followed her little game but with test and college around the corner he didn't have much time.
The argument went for half an hour just them going on about the same thing but it ended with his next door neighbor. His girlfriend had childishly argued that he should stop talking with her. She was too nerdy and ruined his image. It seemed ridicules reason. Itachi glanced out his window to stare the raven haired girl reading her text books on her bed.
A small smirk appeared on his lips, "She is my neighbor," he spoke quietly, "she doesn't like getting on the bus alone, I don't mind giving her a ride. It is a lot easier for the both of us," he leaned on is desk, glancing at Yuki through the corner of his eyes. She continued on reading her books, her ash black hair in a messy bun, she chewed on her red bottom lip. She still wore large clothing that covered her figure but it didn't distract from her dark colored eyes.
His girlfriend continued on yelling at him, explaining how she was going to start driving him to school. "Fine," he agreed. He saw Yuki look up at him confused, she grabbed a marker and a sketch paper she wrote something down.
'What is wrong?' she wrote in the handwriting that showed her elegancy. She titled her head confused worry evident on her face, her eye brows scrunched together. Itachi held up one finger while he continued arguing on the phone, before hanging up.
Grabbing a marker he wrote down on his sketch pad, "Just Drama," he wasn't sure how he was going to tell her that he couldn't drive her to school. He had enjoyed the conversations they shared just the two of them, conversation about school, life, books and about her. She would sometimes read to him, poems or passages of great literature her soft voice and the accent in voice made the stories more captivating.
'Want to talk about it' she wrote a soft smile on her face.
'Yeah,' Itachi wrote back drawing a picture of a cell phone. He reached for his cellphone, and speed dialed her number.
"What is wrong?" she questioned her quiet voice, it more calming then the yelling he got from his girlfriend, "she had seemed fine this afternoon when both of you left for your date," she sat crossed leg on her bed staring at Itachi.
"She was," Itachi admitted he sat on his bed. He showed his rare smile only Yuki Hunnutsuka was allowed to see. He watched the smile spread on her lips at just seeing him smile. He watched her scribble something on paper. He was going to ask what she wrote but knew she wouldn't answer, "but I had to leave for homework," he spoke, "finals are coming father wants me in the best college,"
"A college for prodigies," she joked laughing at her weak joke.
Itachi had to chuckle a bit, "I guess you can say that," he said, "my father has his old school in mind," he sighed a bit irritated. He had no idea what he wanted to do on his own it seemed everything was laid out for him, life was easy as long as he followed the rules and studied a lot.
There was silence between them but the comfortable silence, the humming of the phone line the only sound they heard, "Itachi," her soft voice woke him from his daze slumber, "hmm," he answered back waiting for to continue, "would you like to help me study?" she questioned. She held her math book and titled her head in question, "I will help you,"
Itachi stared at her red cheeks and smirked, "tomorrow at the library after school I will meet you there,"
"Meet me?" he knew why she was confused he would normally pick her up and drive with her to the Library, she looked down at sheet of paper she had written on before a strained smile appeared on her lips, "sounds fine," she squeaked a bit.
It was an obvious lie she was quick to know why he couldn't pick her up. If he pressured her the answer she would lie and claim she hated the motorcycle but would cling onto him when they would zoom around the park. They stared at one another not saying anything again Yuki nibbling on her bottom lip, Itachi stared at her. The comfortable silence had turned awkward, but neither wanted to hang up.
"Did you get asked for prom?" he remembered Deidara talking to Yuki this morning. It somehow didn't please him much, he should be happy his friend found boyfriend. She hadn't dated in a while since her last boyfriend embarrassed her at the homecoming by dumping her in front of everybody.
"No, not yet," she blushed and shook her, "Besides I wouldn't go or find a reason why anybody would ask me," she adjusted her, "and I have so much studying to do I wouldn't have time to even shop or look for a dress," she waved her hand in front of her face to hide the redness of her cheeks.
Itachi rolled his eyes, "I see, what college are you planning on getting into?" he questioned. He watched her adjust the phone before grabbing her book to stude33333wy her Japanese.
"I don't know, I was hoping for something medical related," she spoke "I want to be a nurse to help people," she glanced up from her books and gave a soft smile, "after all we don't have life plan like you do," she teased.
Itachi grimaced at the thought of his future that is father laid out to him, first go to a private college then work as the head of the police force (or at least try to work for the title). He got lucky when his dad allowed him to go to a public school, but with the help of Yuki and Shadow (Mostly Shadow) his dad allowed him. But there were strings and he had to follow what his father had planned for his future.
"I guess I can kiss freedom good-bye after graduation," Itachi sighed at the thought. It was part of the deal he made with his father. If was allowed freedom for a short amount of time in high school he would listen to his father's orders and head to the college his father wanted, and become president of police force.
"It won't be that bad, we will still see one another or call?" she looked at him hopefully, "I mean whatever college you choose can't be that far away," she smiled she didn't want to lose her best friend, her fist crush, "I mean you still planning on keeping in contract with Nana," she grimaced at the thought of Itachi's girlfriend.
"Not really," Itachi spoke, "I wasn't planning on marring her," he had a feeling she wasn't that faithful to him but the sex was good, "I think my father has plans for me for marriage," he hid the disappointment in his voice, but he couldn't argue with his father anymore.
"I would only imagine the woman her father would bring," she had been listening in on her brother's gossip about the Uchiha family.
Yuki giggled, "I heard yelling at your home about a month ago, did she finally meet the family," she looked worried, "I am shocked your father didn't open I thought he would treat her like a princess, Shadow said she is shocked she didn't start dancing," she missed what made the joke so funny.
Itachi knew Shadow enough to where the joke was going but see Yuki attempting the joke made him burst into laughter. It just so cute to see her attempt to make a joke and just off it, "no, she didn't dance," he said his laughter dying down, "tell Shadow we don't have a pole in the house,"
Yuki's cheeks were still red as she only giggled once again, "I will pass the message," her smile brightened. They spoke of a few things before the line went silent, a comfortable again. She rested her head on the pillow closing her eyes.
Itachi was reading his biology book, "Yuki," he spoke he had a question he wanted to ask her about what was in the book. She didn't answer peeking out his book he wasn't shocked to see her sleeping. Books were scattered around her, the lights still on and Yuki still in her cloths, "good night," he dialed her cousin's number telling him about Yuki before heading to bed himself.
