"Hey, Beckett?"

Kate groans. Why? Oh, why? They just finished a tough case! And all she wants to do is sleep.

"Kate?" Rick whispers in her ear and she has the urge to just flick him off by punching him, but doesn't. It won't help anyway. "You awake?"

"No," she murmurs. "So, go back to sleep."

Unfortunately that only encourages him. "I've been thinking…."

"Oh, no," she groans again and pulls the covers over her head.

Without hesitation he's pulling it off again, his hand landing on her shoulder to pull her onto her back, her squinting eyes looking at him.

"Come on, indulge me," he teases and she curses.

"I hate you," she groans, which only makes him grin at her.

"No, you don't." Oh, if only she could wipe that damn smirk off his face.

Kate rolls her eyes, shuts them in protest. He's stroking her cheek with his fingers and she sighs. "No, I don't. But it's not helping you're waking me up at…" she glances to the clock. "2 am! Castle! What the hell's so important?"

"Do you believe in soulmates?"

His questions caughts her off guard and she stares at him with wide eyes. "What?" she asks and wrinkles her forehead.

"Soulmates, do you believe in them?" His blues are tingling and she can't help the mischievousness entering her body.

"Yeah, but I'm still waiting to find mine," she teases and he huffs, his body gently moving on top of hers.

"Ha-ha," he fake laughs before he leans down to claim her lips, kissing her in that passionate way only he can.

Once they part she's smiling big, biting her lower lip. "Honestly?" He nods in a way that tells her it should be obvious he wants her honest answer. "Before you I didn't believe in soulmates. When we met… I don't know, after a while, it just felt right. I'm not sure I believe in soulmates, but if there is such a thing I wouldn't argue us being meant to be together." She waits a beat. "What about you?"

Rick smiles, leans down to peck her lips before he settles back in the bed. Their bed. He pulls her onto his chest and she doesn't hesitate to snuggle into his body.

"We're definitely soulmates," he says and she chuckles at his determination.

She lifts her head to kiss his jaw before snuggling in for sleep. "Night babe."

"Night."
