Chapter 10

My growth has been rather surprising.

I was impressed so was mother and father figure. I have nearly reached the stage of full maturity for my people, and yet, despite it, I still wished to do more before reaching my peek. I continued to train with the elder Garou. I have conquered the waterfall and have been able to remain in phase three for prolonged periods of time. I could circle the globe at will and have done so many times over to test this new strength of mine.

Not once have I felt tired, weak or even fatigued from using phase three like the original before me. In fact, I have never felt better!

Also, with my growing power, I was able to contain and control it without armor. Elder Garou taught me so much in little time, I am grateful for the lessons. But now, my focus has been intellectual studies.

I have been reading countless books mother figure suggested. I studied robotics, chemical, organic and other sciences for my own benefit. I have also learned first hand from mother figure on creating code and building up a system. Together, we made her new lair. She has dubbed it the Association for heroes to learn and be deployed for monster battles.

"I love the spar room and also the fabrication room you suggested, Boros. I never would have considered it myself!"

We were doing one final tour before she brought her family in to see first hand the fruit of her labor. "Thank you mother figure, I understand that training can help build a stronger hero, I learned first hand how important it is. As well, those who need weapons need a place for forging them." I paused and smiled. "It's amazing as to how much I have learned in a short period of time. I would rely on others to do simple tasks for me, but now… I feel I need to do them myself…"

"That's accomplishment," she explained to me. "I mean how could I learn anything if I had the droids do it all? If they do it all, how will I retain this knowledge for a later time? It's okay to have people to depend on for help, but it's not okay to depend on them to do everything."

"I understand mother figure," and truly I did.

One could have many minions do the same task for you, however if something were to happen to them, you would be stuck and have no answer for the problem at hand. Perhaps I will change things when I go back into space. I will have my crew work on things they are confident in, however in exchange they try to learn something they are no so confident in, just to expand their skills.

It would be a peaceful transition as mother figure built up her new heroes association. I kept out of sight since many people don't take too kindly to my appearance. But then, something strange happened.

A drastic shift in the family.

It happened one day, I was returning home when I heard elder Melee in tears. Elder Garou was gone in a hurry, but still, what caused such a scene at home? Goliath heard everything, and waved me over. "What has happened?" I whispered.

"Follow me,"

I did as was told, he led me to his room where I found a massive iron like book. Goliath pried it open with ease and revealed the contents to me. "Family history huh?"

"This is my mother's family history," he explained. "And according to her, Dr. Genus… You do know him right?"

"Former creator of the house of evolution, currently mother figure's lab partner. Created the house of evolution to farther the evolution of humanity by any means. Stopped his practice after an encounter with Saitama. However some of his clones continue his work to this day."

He nodded to me. "One found old blood at a hospital and used it… he succeeded in cloning two people, and it sounds like they are my mother's brothers." He explained and took a photo from the book.

I looked at the faces of these two men. Strong looking in appearance, they were rather large for humans of this world too. "Street and Knuckle Brawler… I take it the girl on their shoulders is elder Melee when she was young?"

He nodded in agreement. "Yeah, mom was only 14 when they were killed. Trying to clear out a street of people from a monster attack. Grandpa died first, then they died trying to get out of the monster's rampage."

I paused to consider my words. The original would have scoffed at this, anyone who dies in combat only show they themselves were weak and were not warriors. Yet, ever since this new life started for me, I have begun to see weakness isn't the lack of strength. Weakness is someone with the power to make change, but refuse to do so for the benefit of others. These men gave their lives, knowing very well they too could be killed for taking such a risk. They died with honor.

"What does elder wish to do now?"

Goliath shrugged. "I don't know, I can't speak for her, no do I wish to speak with her now. This just hit her out of nowhere. I would love to confront my uncles myself. But it's not my place to do so."

"Nor would it be mine either." I muttered.

A gentle knock came to the door. Pac peered in. "Hey, you got the family album open, perfect. I need a picture…" Goliath gave him the one in hand of his uncles and mother.

"Alley already copied all the pictures, you can keep that one…"

"Thanks, I got to speak with Metal Bat…"

"Huh? Why?"

Pac appeared upset. "Dad… just attacked the Neo Heroes."

I was stunned to the development.

Garou had taught me to be calm and collected, and yet… but perhaps is rage is for what they caused his mate. They are her brothers and no one asked for her permission to being them back. It would be understandable. As Pac excused himself, I turned back to Goliath. "What do we do now? This is very unfamiliar for me…"

He sighed. "We will speak of this as a family and see what mom wants to do, they are her brothers."

I agreed to the family's wishes. Despite the fact I could find these two at once and bring them here for answers as well as give elder Melee some comfort to know her siblings live. Yet as the day progressed, I learned she was against revealing herself to them. "I don't want to overwhelm their minds. If we do, we could drive them insane and I would lose them again. No, our best bet is to wait for them to come to us… if they remember me that is…"

Why do I feel this way?

My heart for a moment ached… it's never happened before.

I left the room abruptly, holding my chest to ensure it wasn't a complication. "Boros?"

Mother figure gently called out to me, I turned to her stunned. "Is something wrong with me, I have this strange sensation in my chest and my stomach…"

She smiled warmly to me, her hands came on my shoulders gently. "You are feeling empathy." She whispered.

"Empathy?" I asked.

"When you feel sad for the person who is sad as well. You know they are hurting, but for the moment, you can't do anything to help them. You know it's wrong, you want my mother to be happy but she can't at the moment."

Empathy… It hurts as much as a strong punch.
