Title: FSOG: From Heartbreak to Happiness?

Chapter 52

(Christian had been searching for the perfect engagement ring forever, it seemed like. He brought his trusted sidekick with him, Taylor, for support. Christian would occasionally ask Taylor his opinion on the ring. While looking around, Christian shook his head as nothing stood out to him)

(All of a sudden, he saw it. He couldn't believe his eyes. He quickly got Taylor's attention. Taylor walked to Christian and looked at the ring that his boss was pointing at. Taylor nodded in approval and couldn't help the smile from forming on his face. In front of him was the Madrid accented princess cut engagement ring. The stone was a square halo that was slightly rounded at the edges. The center was the main piece, with a 14-karat white gold diamond that looked almost heavy to the touch. The band was encrusted with smaller diamonds and he liked that the option to engrave the interior of the ring could be an option. It was fit for a queen. It was fit for Ana)

Taylor: "Sir, I think you found your ring."

Christian: (hopeful look) "You think she'll like it?"

Taylor: "It will be hard for her to say no to you when you ask her to marry you, in my opinion."

(As Christian eyes the ring, he chuckles)

Christian: "We got ourselves a winner, Jason. I can't wait to ask Anastasia to marry me."

(Meanwhile, at Ana and Kate's apartment, Ana and Kate discuss Christian possibly proposing to Ana)

Kate: "So, I take it you and Christian discussed the future?"

Ana: (nods) "Yes, we did. He asked me if I had ever considered being with him forever. I giggled and told him I can't wait to be with him forever." (sighs) "Oh, Kate. I would love it if he proposed. I know we haven't been dating very long. I love him so much, though. I never knew what love was until I met him. He truly is the love of my life."

Kate: (snorts) "The way you two feel about each other, he better be the love of your life." (winks)

(The ladies laugh before things get serious)

Kate: "Have you or Christian run into Elena recently?"

Ana: (tilts her head) "I admit I'm wondering about her because she hasn't tried anything against me or Christian lately. I honestly thought she would have by now. You know, considering how obsessed she is with Christian." (shrugs) "But, the good thing is that Sawyer is outside my front door so I'm not worried."

Kate: (nods) "I trust Christian and Taylor so I trust Sawyer, too. They'll keep us safe."

Ana: (nods & smiles) "They will. I know they will."

***Later That Night***

(Ana and Kate hear talking in the hallway of their apartment building and go investigate. Ana opens the front door to see Christian, Taylor, and Sawyer all grouped up in a whisper)

Ana: (puzzled) "What's going on?"

(Christian sees the ladies staring at them and breaks the conversation to go to Ana and Kate)

Christian: (nods) "Don't worry. We're taking care of it, baby."

(Ana looks at Kate then the men then Christian)

Ana: (confused) "Take care of what? I don't understand."

Kate: "What happened, Christian?"

(Taylor goes to Christian)

Taylor: "Sir, we're going to go investigate. See who the delivery man was and where the package came from."

Christian: (nods) "Thanks."

(Christian focuses on Kate and Ana again)

Christian: (sighs) "About an hour ago a delivery man dropped off a package. He attempted to drop it off directly to you, Ana. Sawyer wouldn't allow it. Sawyer asked for an ID. The man provided one, which Sawyer wrote down. After taking the package, the man left."

Ana: (slightly concerned) "What was in the package, Christian?"

Christian: (cautiously) "Are you sure you want to know? You won't like it."

Kate: "Okay, now you're scaring me, Grey."

Christian: (nods) "I always told Ana I wouldn't hide the truth from her. However, I'd warn her the truth is not pretty."

(Ana nods her head in determination as she speaks)

Ana: "No, I want to know. What was in the package?"

Christian: "In the package, it was a dead bloody rat. There was a note attached to the package."

Ana: (tearfully) "And?"

Christian: (sighs deeply) "It said 'die bitch'."

(Ana covers her face except for her eyes which were in tears as she tried to fight from flowing. She then clears her throat and puts her hands down)

Ana: "Those sick people are sure going through a lot of trouble to make sure I pay for whatever I did. I'm glad Sawyer was here because otherwise it could have gone a lot worse. The delivery man would have been able to give me the package personally."

Kate: "And they could've killed you in the process."

Christian: (to Kate) "And you, too, for collateral damage."

(Christian takes Ana in his arms and he comforts her. A few minutes later, Sawyer, Taylor, and Christian's private detective arrive. Christian and Ana break free with Ana going to Kate so Christian can face his men)

Christian: "What's the verdict?"

(Taylor, Sawyer, and the detective, Murray, sigh deeply in helplessness, causing Christian to shake his head)

Christian: "I'm not going to like this, am I?"

Murray: "Not only was the name of the delivery man a fake, but he was disguised very well. There are security cameras around the building, yes. However, this guy knew what he was doing. He knew where to stand, where not to stand, where to walk, where not to walk, and what else? Where not to look in the camera. Oh, yeah, this guy is a pro."'

Taylor: "Judging from the build of the guy, we firmly believe it's either Jack Hyde or someone hired to look like him."

Sawyer: "Being Hyde is in the correctional facility, he and Elena must have hired someone."

Murray: "Even though Elena claims to not know or be in touch with Jack, we believe they are in contact. There are cameras at the facility and we will find out if she's on them."

Ana: "But, it's late. Will they let you in?"

Murray: (smirks) "Trust me, Miss Steele. For the right price, people will let anyone in anywhere. It's just a matter of how much you're willing to pay."

Christian: "And to find out, I'll pay anything. Detective Murray, let me know the price and I'll wire it into their account. I don't care how much it is. Money is no object."

Murray: (nods) "Yes, Mr. Grey."

(Murray goes to complete his mission. Taylor waits by the car for Christian while Christian and Ana have a private moment. Sawyer goes to get a cup of coffee that Kate offered him)

Christian: "I promise you, baby, we're going to get this figured out. Murray knows what he's doing."

(Ana nods & smiles although it's clear by her panicked face that she's scared)

Ana: "I know."

Christian: (shakes his head) "You don't need to be scared, honey. Me and Sawyer are here. We won't let anything happen to you...or Kate."

Ana: (chuckles) "How'd you know I was scared?"

Christian: (raises his eyebrows) "No offense, baby, but you're very easy to read. And if that wasn't obvious, it's written all over your face. Sawyer will be in front of the door all night."

Ana: "Christian, he'll get tired. That's not fair to him."

Christian: "He knows the rules. When he gets tired, he calls Taylor to take his place. Like I said, I got it covered."

(Christian pecks Ana's lips before speaking)

Christian: "Get some sleep. Love you."

Ana: "Love you more."

(Christian walks away and Sawyer drinks his coffee that he brings with him to the hallway. Kate tells Sawyer there's a fresh pot to help himself. He thanks her and tells the women good night)

***The Next Day***

(Elena goes to see Jack in disguise being as Christian 'caught' her going there before to see someone. They finalized their plan. In the visiting area, the lawyer, Elena, and Jack are huddled together discussing their plan)

Lawyer: "I was able to get a court hearing for Jack's release. It's set for this afternoon."

(Jack rolls his eyes and groans)

Jack: "Finally! Now all I need is to get out of this hellhole. I've been here too fucking long."

Elena: (nods) "Everything will go according to plan, just keep sticking to it."

Jack: "You know I will. You haven't let me down yet...either of you. I'm counting on both of you."

Lawyer: (smiles) "You'll be out before you know it."

***Later That Day***

(In Christian's office at home, he finds out from Murray over the phone that Jack's scheduled to have a court hearing for that afternoon. After ending the call, Christian jams his fist against his desk, causing Taylor to look at his boss in alarm)

Taylor: "Mr. Grey?"

Christian: "Fuck! "

Taylor: "Talk to me."

(Christian angrily faces his bodyguard)

Christian: "Hyde may be getting released. He has a court hearing at 4p.m."

Taylor: "Shit." (checks his watch) "It's 2p.m. right now. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

Christian: "Let's go confront the bitch then attend the assholes hearing. I want to hear her admit that she lied to our face before I plan my revenge against her. Then I'm planning on testifying against the fucking prick."

Taylor: "Hopefully the judge lets you."

Christian: "I don't give a shit whether he/she agrees to it, I'm going to. If I can't, then Anastasia and Kate have a right to. Are you ready to go see the bitch?"

Taylor: (nods) "Lead the way, sir."

***Elena's Condo***

(Christian pounds on the front door, causing Elena to rush to answer it)

Elena: "Jesus Christ! I think the whole freaking block could hear you, Grey! What the hell?!"

(Christian angrily points at his ex while speaking in a harsh tone)

Christian: "I knew you couldn't be trusted, you fucking bitch! You're working with Jack Hyde! What are you planning, Elena?!"

Elena: (narrows her eyes) "I warned you, Grey, that you shouldn't have messed with me. Now, you'll pay the price. I'm not telling you a damn thing."

(Elena chuckles evilly as she folds her arms)

Elena: "You would have been so much happier had you chosen me, Grey. But nope, you chose the less experienced who doesn't know a thing about life or love." (shrugs) "Your loss."

Christian: "Anastasia is more of a woman than you'll EVER be, Robinson. She's taught me more things than you've ever taught me. Get over yourself. I will NEVER love you." (to Taylor) "Let's get out of here. I can't stand to look at her one more second." (to Elena) "You'll get what's coming to you. Just you watch."

(Christian and Taylor leave a seething Elena. Christian and Taylor go to Ana and Kates apartment to update them. Ana and Kate grow worried about what Elena and Jack have done. Christian doubles security on Ana. Aside from Sawyer on Ana, Christian puts Ros on Ana, as well. For Kate, Christian puts Prescott as the bodyguard. He assures the women that he'll do everything in his power to keep them safe)

(Christian and Taylor go to the hearing. After what felt like forever, the hearing is concluded. Christian is pissed off beyond belief that Jack gets to go free due to 'lack of evidence'. Christian tries to walk to the front of the courtroom, but is stopped by a security guard)

Christian: "This is bullshit, your honor! Jack Hyde is dangerous! If you let him go, he's just going to hurt someone or even try to kill again! Do you want that?!"

Judge: "Mr. Grey, I've made my ruling. Now, unless you have damaging evidence to share, my decision is final."

Christian: (scoffs) "There WAS damaging evidence but you chose to ignore it!"

(Before the judge has a chance to hold Christian in contempt, Taylor calms Christian down and drags him away)

Taylor: "I agree with you, sir, but you being arrested is not going to help matters. We need to come up with a better plan."

Christian: (nods) "We will. Let's go back to the girl's apartment. I want them to move into my place until this whole mess is dealt with."

Taylor: "Once again, I agree."

(At Kate and Ana's apartment, Taylor and Christian ask Sawyer if anyone has come by. Sawyer nods and says Elliot stopped by and visited and Kate filled him in on everything and Elliot left a message for Christian to call him. Christian nodded and made a mental note to do so. Christian told Sawyer thanks for doing a good job. Christian and Taylor then went inside. Ana saw her man and embraced him)

Christian: "How are you doing?"

Ana: "Okay. How was the trial?"

Christian: (shakes his head) "You don't want to know."

Kate: (nods) "The asshole got free, didn't he?"

Taylor: "Yes, ma'am."

Christian: "Until this whole mess with Elena and Jack is dealt with, I want you two to live with me at my condo. It's safer there and I can protect you better there. I have plenty of room for both of you to have your own room."

Kate: (rolls her eyes) "I don't like the idea of leaving my place."

Ana: (shakes her head) "Neither do I. All my stuff is here."

Christian: "I understand. But please be aware that I can protect you better there. My windows at my condo are bulletproof as well as my garage."

Ana: (smirks) "You mean your very spacious garage."

Christian: (moves his head in a circle) "Yeah, okay." (sighs) "Please?"

Ana: "If it means that much to you, okay, I will."

Kate: (jokingly) "Do I get my own bathroom, too, Grey?"

Christian: (nods) "Yes, Kavanagh, you can have your own bathroom. Do we have a deal, ladies?"

(Anastasia and Kate look at each other before offering their hand to Christian to shake, which he does)

Kate: "Deal."

Ana: "Deal."

Christian: "Good. Pack what you want. I'm bringing you to my place today being Jack got freed. I'm not taking any chances. Kate, Prescott is still guarding you. Ana, Sawyer and Ros are with you. I believe Ana is a bit more in danger so I want one more guard on her."

(Both ladies nod before getting ready. Christian couldn't help but be apprehensive on what was going to happen in the next couple of weeks or even days. He was relieved that Anastasia and Kate were staying with him, at least)
