Chapter 12
It all happened so suddenly.
Elder Garou and Melee were out in search of her brothers who became kidnapped. However, in their attempt to rescue them, they too have become captured. Dr. Genus, the man who is responsible for these brash clones explained the situation to the masses, however he was against sending any of the children of Garou out to battle this odd foe.
I decided to take action, I deployed Bun-Bun Bomb along with Genos and Saitama to hopefully rescue everyone.
At the same time, I had Lightning Max use his strength to control a robot mother figure had in storage. "I don't anticipate on you fighting with this, I merely need it for a distraction" I explained to him after he set the robot out. "If it can get to the location and merely crash into it, the job will be fulfilled."
He was confused, despite being tired out from putting more of his energy into the robot; he didn't understand the logic behind it all. "Max, I'll return shortly," I said to him. And rushed out of the association.
The plan was for Genos and Bun to go on ahead. Saitama I had remain behind until they got everyone out, when they did, he would go in and collapse the building.
The plan changed drastically.
I was unaware that there were Neo Heroes assisting in this, Metal Bat, Bang and Bomb were in the facility and Dr. Genus of all people. Zombieman too had joined them in this odd alliance. Yet at the same time, I could hear everything occur. The Brawlers got brainwashed, and they were going to be used to kill their own sister!
Barbaric practices…
I shamefully admit to using those tactics, well the original did…
I was on the outside looking in, listening to everything. Despite bring brainwashed, the Brawlers were still smart enough to notice when something was wrong in their minds. "Hey, why are you here?"
I was stunned as Saitama found me. "I came as insurance… something isn't right about this…"
"I know, you think with that many people inside they could have ended it by now…"
Suddenly, we both jumped at the sound of a gun being fired twice. Through the walls I could hear it, smell it all. A chemical had been injected… but the Brawlers took it in place of Elder Garou and Melee.
"Dear oblivion…" I whispered.
"What…" Saitama questioned.
"It's nothing, stick to the plan. I have to be sure everyone gets out."
I watched as the heroes were quick to evacuate, it took many of them to lift Garou and Melee, but I didn't see the Brawlers.
With that, I rushed in as Saitama made his move. He walked out before the heroes as I ran into the building. I grabbed the brothers and rushed out and back to my lab before being seen. The moment I entered I looked over their wounds, the computer scanned them and indicated that there was a toxin that leeched into their bones and would break down their bodies in a mere 48 hours.
A slow and painful death to say the least, I took a small bit of time to extract some of their blood with the toxins. Thankfully, they appeared to have not felt a thing, yet somehow one regained slight consciousness.
"Where… are we?" came a delirious Street Brawler.
But I had no time to answer him. "Computer, if placed into a chamber, how long can the poison be delayed?"
The scan was made. "2 months four days three hours six minutes…"
"Prepare the chambers!"
I lifted the brothers off the table and took them to the restoration pods. When inside, I closed the lid as it filled with liquid.
One may think they would drown in such a thing, but this is a medicated liquid that adapts to the biology of the patient. So it allowed them to breath normally, yet slow down everything within the body itself.
"Computer, options."
I allowed it some time to process the question, it took two hours until it said. "Option one, delay the poison as long as possible. Countermeasure for poison will take longer than expected survival rate."
"Damn it all, I can't cure them in time…" I muttered. "Option two"
"Cease treatment and allow subject to die,"
"Not an option, option three!"
"Modify subjects."
Modify…
My eyes drifted to the corner where the robots I was making were starting to look different to me now. "Wait… cyborgs… is it possible to convert the two to cyborgs?!" I called.
It did a scan of the brothers. "Capability, yes, survival rate 75% yet will decrease with each passing week, poison has spread to the bones but not completely, will consume bones before organs and other vital areas."
It wasn't a lot of time, however, I saw how happy these two made elder Melee, as well mother… Yes, she deserves to be called mother now. For she has been ever since she found me. "Computer, do everything possible to ensure that the Brawlers in the pods are taken care of. Prevent the spread of poison if possible"
"Confirmed."
I returned back to the others, only to learn that elder Garou and Melee are weakened by an injection. Mother will work on the cure, yet everyone appeared worried and sad for what happened. They have deemed the Brawlers dead, however, I cannot tell them otherwise.
If I fail… I will allow them to experience heartache over and over again. For now. I will keep silent on the matter, for not even I know if I am capable of such a task!

There was one person I had access to in order to complete this. However, I wasn't certain if this human would trust me, or would I be able to trust him. I waited for mother to leave before entering the lab unannounced. I found him alone with his work when I came into the lab. "Dr. Genus?"
He jumped a little. However, he paused at the sight of me. "Boros, I assume?"
I nodded to him. "Has mother spoken of me?"
He smiled to the question. "She speaks fondly of you… why are you here? She just left a moment…"
"I came to speak with you."
He was suddenly all ears. "Oh, what can I help you with?"
I didn't want to come out and say it, after all, he's a smart man and very capable at seeing someone's true intentions. "Mother insisted I start to learn something new. I have mastered what I have learned so far and wish to go a step farther. Robots have been my passion, but, what would be the next step to a robot?"
"A cyborg?" he asked curiously.
"Ah, is that what they are called… then I shall study them!"
Genus laughed aloud to my decree. "A cyborg is more complicated than you realize. You have to take many factors into its creation, as well, they don't always turn out how you desire them to."
"Oh?"
I began to feel a sense of dread, is this too much to handle at once? There are chances that I cannot make this happen. But for now, I have to see what I can do in the mean time!
Genus however explained to me the important factor for a cyborg is the brain. "They need a human brain to function and stem cells, just enough to establish a connection to the main body. Remember, a human brain needs blood, oxygen and also protections. You are considering that aren't you?"
"I… I never thought of those factors…"
Genus sighed as he went to his work station, he searched through a drawer before pulling out a book. "Read this, this will help if you are interested in making cyborgs… within reason" he said as he withheld the book for a moment before it was placed into my hands.
"Yes sir, besides, I don't have the proper materials or means to create such a thing,"
He nodded his head. Despite the lie, it gave me what I needed!
Information on creating cyborgs and the complexity of it, I did wonder though, who wrote such a book?
I checked the cover on my way out of the lab but was stunned. "Dr. Genus…" I whispered.
