Morning Shave

Hey all! What a crazy year it's been. Hope you all are doing well and staying as safe as possible. I got this idea yesterday and wanted to share some Careese love. Please forgive any typos, I wrote it late last night. Take care everyone, hope you enjoy the read, and in advance, Happy Thanksgiving!

She loved this part of the day. When some of life's best moments, were found in the simplest things.

With a smooth, glide of the razor, John successfully removed another row of the morning stubble that peppered his face. His eyes stayed glued to the mirror as he worked swiftly. Joss knew he was aware of her presence just outside the bathroom door, but he had yet to draw attention to it. Choosing instead to let her watch him in peace.

And that's what she did. Despite the steady tick of her wristwatch that warned her she would be late.

Happily she let her eyes get her fill of the man she shared her life with. She loved watching him shave in the morning. Doing something so normal. And she loved being the woman, who got the privilege of waking up every morning and being a part of his normal.

She blinked. Another glide of the razor against his damp, now smooth porcelain skin. He had only half a cheek left. Then he would throw on his dress shirt and suit jacket and be off to protect his latest number. Separated from her for hours.

Her eyes closed briefly. She didn't want to entertain thoughts about their upcoming departure. Even if it was only going to be for some hours.

Silently she walked to his side and peered up into his face.

Finally, with a smirk he acknowledged her. "What is it?"

Reaching up, her fingers grazed his chin, with a thoughtful look. "You might have missed a spot."

Before he could turn to the mirror to see if she was being truthful, Joss stood on tip toes and pressed her lips to his. Joss felt him smile before his free hand slipped around her waist, drawing her closer.

Joss sighed, stepping closer. Forget the world today. All she wanted was to drag this man back to their bed. One hand dug into his t-shirt tugging him more firmly to her, while her other hand resting against his damp skin, slipped further up his face… and right into the remaining shaving cream.

John chuckled, breaking the kiss. "That's what happens when you should be getting to work Detective," he teased.

Joss moaned in annoyance. "Unfortunately," she mumbled as she eyed the shaving cream on her hand.

It looked like the world would not be ignored today. Rinsing her hand, she sighed. Before she left, she looked back at her husband and placed one more kiss on his lips. "Remember where we left off when you get home tonight," she whispered.

He winked. "You can count on it."

With a smug smile Joss found the strength to finally turn away. Knowing a reward would be waiting for her at the end of the day.
