A/N: Welcome to yet another Grey's Anatomy one-shot. Looking over my previous three works, I know what I want to focus on, which is always a plus. There are so many issues with Grey's Anatomy, some of them good and others bad. I basically gave the summary away in the summary, so let's get this up and running.
Disclaimer: I do not own Grey's Anatomy, but I might be a good scriptwriter for them.
Secrets are like moths. And when a moth is too close to a flame, it tends to unravel and burn. Secrets start out small, but the longer they are hidden, the louder they become when the truth is revealed. Cristina Yang had thought she could hide Dr. Burke's tremor. For months, she had taken control of the situation, rewriting the board and taking over for Dr. Burke. She even studied up on the procedures so that she would know what to do when Dr. Burke's tremor started and she had to take over.
Things went well, for the most part. She kept the secret guarded, refusing to reveal itself to Miranda Bailey, which didn't really go so well, seeing as how she had to retrieve crap from some [censored] who swallowed Monopoly pieces. Then George O'Malley had to come and [censored] everything up. [Censored] O'Malley.
O'Malley somehow got the impression that Dr. Burke was not 100% so he had Erica Hahn perform his father's surgery. Dr. Burke was okay with that, but Cristina definitely wasn't. Things went from bad to worse when Dr. Webber appointed Dr. Burke as the new Chief of Surgery. Dr. Burke wasn't happy about that, saying his job was tainted and unethical because of the lying. Cristina was still convinced she and Burke could pull this off, but things became much too complicated during a surgery in which Dr. Burke had to go back and forth. The tremor in his hand started back up and everything fell apart.
Somehow, the patient, Janelle, didn't die. It was afterward that Cristina knew it was time. Secrets are like moths. The moth went too close to the flame and unraveled and burned. She told the Chief about Burke's condition and left, even though the guilt was about to eat her alive. She wanted to scream. Oh, she wanted so badly to scream. It started out so small, like a whisper you told a friend, and it turned into a scream that would fill that ubiquitous void.
A/N: Well, that it. Pretty proud of myself for including the title of a Grey's Anatomy episode in there. Not sure what my next episode is going to be, but I'll figure it out. Until next one-shot.
