Three years later

Kera sighed as she poked at her food that was lying in front of her. She wasn't really hungry and simply stared at the meal. For the last few days she had been feeling… weird. Her appetite was almost non existent, her body felt weaker and she even felt hot sometimes. It was a strange sensation, making her think she was getting sick.

She glanced around the guild hall noticing it was a quiet day for once. Not many people were at the guild, most were out on jobs. Things had changed ever since she arrived at this guild. She smiled slightly remembering how she had grown from being the frightened child into a more open and trusting person. She had gotten accustomed to her new home and the people around her.

Erza and her had gotten really close. The two of them spend a lot of time together whenever the red head wasn't out on jobs. Through the years, Erza had taught her to read and write better, yet magic still eluded her.

Natsu and Gray had become her friends as well. Natsu always made sure she was alright, though sometimes she wondered if he did it because he was scared of Erza. But then she remembers those small moments where Natsu had taught her how to fish and the genuine smile he had on his face.

Gray had stood up for her when she had gotten bullied by random kids in town. He told them to beat it and when they refused, turned them into icicles. Gray took it as nonchalant as ever, but Kera still appreciated it. She still wasn't completely used to others helping her.

As time passed, she even got close to Lisanna, the young Strauss sibling spending a lot of time with her whenever the others were out on jobs, making sure she wasn't alone. She liked Lisanna a lot, her warm and kind aura made her feel safe and at ease.

Though her sister was a different situation… she avoided Mira whenever she could, the older girl still frightening her to no end. She would watch her fight with Erza and every time she used her magic, she grew scared. Everyone kept telling her that Mira would never hurt her, but deep down she just… couldn't.

But on the other hand, she found a home in Fairy Tail and she loved it here.

Natsu bumped into her, a smirk plastered on his face. "If you're not eating that, I'll take it."

Kera shrugged and pushed the plate towards him. "Sure, go ahead." Natsu cheered before grabbing the plate and stuffing the food into his mouth.

Erza frowned as she watched the two of them. "You haven't been eating well at all lately. Are you sure you're fine?"

The brunette shook her head as she leaned forward. "I'm just a little bit tired. But I have been feeling a bit hot lately though…"

At the mention of her temperature, Erza laid a hand on her forehead. Her brow furrowed even more as she felt the heat against her skin. "You are burning up."

"You smell off too." Natsu commented after swallowing his food.

Kera raised an eyebrow at him. "What is that supposed to mean?"

Gray, who had been sitting on the bench with his feet lying on the table simply shrugged his shoulders. "Maybe you should visit Porlyusica."

Letting out a sigh, Kera leaned back. "I'm fine, probably just feel a bit unwell due to my lack of sleep."

This time Erza poked at her cake, letting out a sigh. It was true that Kera had trouble sleeping lately. She had been suffering from nightmares again. Often times, she'd wake up screaming or crying. Erza tried to comfort her as best she could but she didn't know what else to do. She wanted to help but didn't know how.

Changing the topic, Kera turned her attention to the red head. "Are we still doing practice later?" The girl had tried long and hard to practice magic, but never got the hang of it. No matter how many books she read, she couldn't get the hang of it. That was why Erza started to teach her about physical combat. The girl wanted to learn something, so learning how to fight helped her to feel more useful.

"I'm not sure that's a good idea." Erza glanced her up and down, noting that she was even looking paler than usual.

But Kera still begged. "Please Erza, I'm fine, I promise."

With a defeated sigh, she nodded. "Alright." She set her fork down. "But we'll just do a light routine. I don't want you to overdo it."

"I'll be fine."

Kera ducked under a swing that was coming for her head. She lowered her body to move under the swing to get closer to Erza. The red head smirked slightly, all Kera remembered next was pain in her right side before hitting the ground hard. She grunted while looking up at the blue sky above her. "Ow…"

A hand entered her space with Erza smiling down at her. Kera took the hand and slowly got back on her feet. She started brushing the dirt off her clothes as Erza immediately went to explaining where she had gone wrong… again. "You need to remember that you're wide open when you dodge." Erza had walked up to her right side. "You want to cover your side at all costs, like this." She moved her body to the side. "While dodging, you still want to be quick on your feet for when your opponent tries to surprise you." At the same moment when she dodged, she quickly moved her body to a different side.

The brunette sighed nodding her head slowly. She wasn't getting good at this at all. "I'm getting nowhere…" She muttered. "I can't do anything right. I can't learn magic and I can't even fight a normal physical fight… I'm just pathetic…"

Erza rested her hand on her shoulder. "Hey, this isn't learned in one day. It'll take a while and you are getting better." She chuckled. "At least you're quick on your feet. That's good in a fight." She glanced at the brunette and noticed that she was still off in a different world. She noticed that dark shadow was in her eyes again. Ever since the girl joined and she doubted herself, there was this shadow running through her eyes. They would lose their shine and seem just… dull and hollow.

She had to get her mind off of whatever she was thinking. So she flicked her finger against her head, causing the brunette to snap out of her state. "Huh?"

"Did you even listen to what I was saying? You're getting better and there's no reason to doubt yourself Kera." Erza explained. "Now come on, give it one more try and then we can head back."

"Fine…" Kera muttered. Even though she was heavily discouraged by her recent failure, she still got into position. She wanted to learn this and wanted to get better, she wanted to be useful for once and this was the only way for her to do it.

Erza got into position as well, holding her sword in front of her, nodding her head. "And remember your side when dodging."

Kera waited for the red head to make the first move. Her eyes snapped immediately to her legs and saw them twitch. Now was her chance! Just as she predicted, the red head had charged straight towards her. Again, Kera dodged her swing, by going under it. Her body moved right, but at the last second turned around surprising the red head.

The brunette grinned as she raised her hand to send a punch at her, but all of a sudden the heat inside her body just exploded. She felt all of her energy get drained in one go and her body went limp. She hit the ground in a crumbling heap, her body shaking uncontrollably. Why did she feel so suddenly sick? God, she could vomit right here and now.

"Kera!" Erza quickly ran to her side, scared of what was happening to Kera. She had successfully dodged her attack but then she just fell limp. Gritting her teeth, she cursed herself for allowing her to even train in her condition! It seemed to be far worse than what the girl had told her.

Kera tried pushing herself up again, her arms were shaking as she struggled against her own weight. What was happening to her? Why was she feeling so sick and weak all of a sudden? She gasped as she felt a pulse inside her body, trying to force itself out. She clutched at her chest, the pain burning inside her.

She let out a cry of pain, hunching over as the pain got worse. It felt like something was burning inside of her. Erza was panicking, she had no idea what she was supposed to do. Should she carry her back to the guild? To Porlyusica? Or should she try and help here? But how? "Kera, what's wrong?" She leaned down to her and gasped slightly. Kera's eyes were flashing gold. But how was that possible? Her eyes were green.

The brunette let out another cry as whatever pulsed inside her body finally forced itself out. A blast emerged from the brunette, knocking Erza a few feet away from her, while the girl herself collapsed to the ground yet again.

Groaning, Erza glanced over at Kera again, noticing she wasn't moving at all, her body lying face first in the dirt. Fear clung against her heart. "Kera!?" Hearing her words, the brunette moved slightly, causing the red head to sigh in relief. She was alright, there was nothing to worry about.

Kera slowly pushed herself into a sitting position as Erza came running to her again. "Kera, are you okay?"

The girl glanced down at herself before nodding her head slowly. For some reason all the pain she had felt before was gone. So was her weakness and dizziness as well as the heat that had been bothering her. It was all gone. She actually felt fine.

She grabbed her head slightly. "I think I'm fine…"

Erza blinked slightly as she stared at her. "Uh… Kera…"

Kera noticed that the red head was staring at her. She frowned as she wondered what in the world she was staring at. She lowered her hand and was about to ask her what was wrong, but then she saw exactly what had caught her attention.

Her hand was on fire

Her hand was on fire

She let out a scream while shaking her hand, though the flames remained. "Put it out! Put it out!" She was freaking out right now. Why was her hand covered in flames!? How was that even possible!? As she shook her hand widely around, a strong current of air sliced into the tree beside her. This caused the brunette to jump back, but as she touched the ground with her foot, small stone pillars jutted out of the earth behind her.

The girl yelped in shock and stumbled back, tripping over her own two feet and falling to the ground. As she fell, her arm was thrown into the air, causing water to fly up from her hand and back down, drenching her from head to toe.

Lying on the ground, Kera didn't move an inch as she was too exhausted. She was wet from the water, but at least the fire got extinguished. Erza walked up to her, entering the girls field of vision. "Are you okay?"

Kera blinked as she stared up at Erza. "What just happened?"

The red head smirked slightly down at her, knowing exactly what had happened.

"I'm a what?" Kera asked moving her head to the side while Porlyusica stood beside her checking her over. After the entire ordeal at training, Erza had dragged her back to the guild explaining everything to the Master. He had then called for Porlyusica, as well as Natsu.

The old woman had done a full checkup, confirming that the girl was perfectly fine, as well as having magic power. Natsu was sitting with Erza to the side listening in on the conversation.

"A Dragon Slayer." Makarov told her. "A person who technically has the power of a Dragon."

"Sooo… I'm like Natsu?" She asked again. She was happy that she finally had magic, even though she was confused as to why she was suddenly able to use it and before couldn't even amount to a single spark of anything. But this entire Dragon Slayer situation confused her. "But I wasn't raised by a Dragon…"

Makarov sighed. "Not entirely…" He glanced over at the pink haired boy, who was surprisingly quiet in all of this. "From what Natsu has told me, you're actually a dragon yourself."

Silence filled the room as Kera looked at Master Makarov completely confused. Even Erza was confused as to what the Master was saying. All of a sudden, Kera burst out laughing, holding herself as she let it all out. "That's a good joke Master."

"I'm not joking." Makarov told her sternly while glaring slightly. Kera flinched at his tone and quickly apologized, afraid she'd get punished. Makarov sighed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "You didn't do anything wrong Kera. I found it curious myself but Natsu definitely claims it. I looked into the topic myself and it seems that there is a Dragon called Kayeleth and Natsu here claims you share her scent."

Wait, if Natsu says that she shares this scent with this dragon does that mean… "So my mother…" Her face fell when she saw the Master shake his head. Of course it wouldn't be that easy. It never was… but on the other hand she couldn't even remember anything about her mother or basically… anything before her nightmare.

"You should also know that this Dragon was also known to be a Queen." Makarov continued. "Which means that you share that same bloodline."

Kera's eyes went wide, hearing the Master speak. "That can't be true."

"It is." Natsu finally spoke up for the first time they had been in this room. "Kayeleth was revered by the Dragons. Igneel talked a lot about her when I grew up with him. He said that she protects the Dragons and we protect her."

A million thoughts were running through the girl's head. Not only did she finally have magic, but she finds out she was a Dragon? Which doesn't make any sense at all. Not only that but the Dragon that supposedly raised her was royalty? "This can't be right…" Kera muttered shaking her head. "I'm a human!" She shouted at him. "I would know if I were a Dragon… right?"

Porlyusica cleared her throat. "I can't say much about what you are exactly, but I do sense a strange magic from you that could explain why you are different."

Kera glanced at the woman confused and scared. "W-What do you mean?"

"Every wizard can sense the magic power from other wizards, it has a certain feel to it, but yours." She closed her eyes. "I can't explain it but it's different."

Kera grabbed her head and shook it. "No! I'm human! I'm not different! I'm… I'm not…" She stiffened as she felt a hand on her shoulder. Erza gave her a warm smile while her hand squeezed a bit tighter, comforting her. "Hey, this is nothing bad. So what if you're a Dragon? You're still you. No matter what. Human, Dragon… it doesn't matter. You're still Kera to us."

The brunette sniffed as she wiped the tears that were threatening to fall. "Y-You mean it?"

Erza chuckled. "Of course."

"We like you no matter what!" Natsu stated with a huge grin on his face.

Kera turned to him as Erza stood beside her. "You said that all Dragons revered Kayeleth… does that mean… that was the reason why you befriended me? Because it was an… obligation?"

The pink haired boy jumped. "What!? No! I like you no matter who you are! I was just a bit protective when you arrived… sorry."

Erza hummed. "So that's why you slept in front of the door the first few nights." Natsu nodded slowly, feeling slightly ashamed.

Makarov cleared his throat to catch everyone's attention. He leaned down towards the brunette. "Do you have any other questions Kera?" He knew this was a lot to take in for the young girl. So if she had any questions he would give them as best he could.

"How long… did you know?"

The Master closed his eyes and hummed. "A few days after you arrived to the guild. Natsu explained to me why he was acting so weird."

"If you knew this for so long, why didn't you tell me?" She didn't quite understand why he would keep this such a secret, especially from her.

His eyes softened as he laid his staff he was holding to the ground. "I didn't want to give you any false hope. You were scared and timid, my first priority was to make sure you were alright. I wasn't even sure if what Natsu claimed was true. It's all a bit much."

Kera remembered the first day she arrived here. She had been scared and terrified of everyone. If the Master had told her everything back then, she probably would have completely freaked out and ran away again. He wasn't wrong in keeping it a secret for a while.

Erza slung an arm around the brunette's shoulder, a smile growing on her face. "It will be alright Kera. At least now you have magic! We just need to help you train."

"How do we do that?" Kera asked, leaning her head against hers. She was glad Erza was here for support. She appreciated everything the red head did for her.

Makarov scratched his chin. "If I remember correctly, it is said that the Queen of Dragons is an Elemental Dragon, so it would be fitting to say that Kera shares the same magic with her, as Natsu shares his magic with his Dragon."

"Elemental?" Kera scrunched up her nose. That didn't exactly explain what she was able to do.

It dawned on Erza. "That would make sense. You did control some of the elements. I believe it was fire, water, earth and air."

"Four types of magic?" How was she supposed to learn four different types? She couldn't even handle simple single spells before and now she was supposed to learn four?

Makarov sighed. "It will be quite different. I can see if I can find anyone to help you with the different elements. For now, Natsu can show her the basics with fire."

Erza paled. "Uh, Master… is that such a good idea?"

"Hey!" Natsu protested, crossing his arms in a huff. "I can teach her! I still remember everything Igneel taught me!"

"Can't Macao teach her?"

The Master closed his eyes. "While it is true, Macao would be a better choice, but Natsu's fire is probably the better choice due to him being a Dragon Slayer as well. But I will ask him if he can't give her a few pointers. If that is alright with you Kera. I don't want to push you into anything you don't want to."

Kera nodded. "No, I want to learn how to use magic. I finally want to be useful. And then I can go onto missions like Natsu and Erza."

A chuckle left the Master's throat. "Keep that goal in mind, it will help you grow. You'll grow into a fine wizard Kera."

The brunette smiled, her eyes lighting up. She could learn magic now! She won't let this chance slip by her. She'll train hard every day, she will take this serious and she will make sure that she won't be weak ever again. She will be useful.

She will be able to protect herself and others.
