The lyrics posted are from Closer by Corinne Bailey Rae. (Definitely listen—you'll like it. I'll post the YT link on Twitter too.)
It only had been a few months since they made everything official. Nothing much had changed though. With the pace of their relationship being so purposely slow, the polar opposite of what normal couples were accustomed to, Olivia wanted to do something "big" to let Fitz know she was all in.
Honestly, she had been starving for his touch. The teaser in his office was a reminder of what she had been missing. During the holiday break, she had to make due with touching herself, and participate in some phone sex, whenever the coast was clear. But in a little while, she'd get the real deal. Thankfully, Fitz was nothing like the previous men in her life. It was a given that sex had to be amazing and it surely was, but there needed to be more in a new relationship. He treated her like a queen, actually wanting to be with her. The connection was different and she was grateful. She wanted to reciprocate and give Fitz what he needed and deserved as well.
Even though she was more of the planning type, Olivia wanted to be spontaneous for a change. Inviting Fitz to join her at a hotel mere hours before her stay began, with no concrete plans, was a sure way to let him know that she was truly interested.
While in Charleston, she texted one of the evening anchors about hotel recommendations in Washington. After researching websites and reviews, she landed on the St. Regis, securing one of the most spacious rooms. If she was going to be there all weekend, might as well make everything look and feel cozy. A few candles set in perfect spots, the Bluetooth speaker on for ambience music. The menu was placed on the coffee table. Even brought her favorite pillow with her.
The tone was set for them to do whatever they wanted.
After setting everything up to her liking, Olivia got ready for Fitz's arrival. Refreshing the scent of her favorite perfume on her skin, she kept her black strapless bra and panties on, snuggling under the luxurious covers. It would be a fun reveal for her boyfriend, she believed. When she arrived, Olivia gave the front desk specific directions to give Fitz a key.
Outside of the physical aspect of their dynamic, there was more she needed to ponder and admit. Yes, they were dating, having a good time, finally getting to know each other better, but were they on the same page? At any point, they could agree that with the expectations of work, everything was going too fast and the labels needed to be removed. But that'd be a lie, because she was falling deeply for him. Hard.
Olivia had a sense Fitz was feeling the exact same way. But they never talked about it, mostly because of her. She thought about the morning, and how she nearly shut down when the fan approached them. She wasn't ashamed of him; she was just too damn careful. In her mind, it was probably for the best. But things were different now...
When would she be able to tell him how she truly felt? Oh, to be brave and vulnerable.
Maybe tonight.
The impatient Olivia checked her phone for the fifth time, as the time read 5:05. Why was she so concerned? Hoping Fitz just made a wrong turn, or was ready to make a grand entrance. He was going to show up, there was no point to worry, she said to herself. Blowing upwards at her swoop bang, while still laying in bed, Olivia continued to wait. She didn't expect to be this frustrated. He was allowed to arrive whenever he could. But goodness, if only she could turn down the worry...
As if he was reading her mind, a message from him came in: I'm so sorry. Will be there soon! :)
Instead of letting her thoughts wander any further, Olivia got comfortable, turning on a song on her phone. Curating a playlist for the weekend was a must; whatever she needed to do to create a wonderful mood for the two of them. Including the music.
I don't want to give you up, but I don't want to hold you up. I don't want ambiguous. I just know that I've had enough...
Just as she was becoming mesmerized by the melody and lyrics that hit a little too close to home, she heard the subtle click of the door.
"Hello?"
Hearing his voice made her smile immediately. Olivia watched Fitz enter with his rolling suitcase, noticing he hadn't changed from the suit he wore in the morning; his tie was the missing piece.
"Hi..."
Taking off his coat, he apologized. "I should have let you know sooner about my ETA. Wasn't expecting my commute to be that long."
"Is everything okay?"
"Yeah," Fitz said after disappearing to wash his hands. "Stayed longer at work than I should have, but got a lot of work done. Even thought of a lil' pitch for next week's meeting."
Olivia lifted herself, so he could see her better once he returned. "That's awesome, babe!"
Fitz took a step towards the bedroom and paused. The covers were removed, and like always, she took his breath away.
"Wow."
"Good or bad wow," she asked, moving her hair to reveal her collarbone, a place where she wanted all the attention from him.
Admiring her beauty, he answered, "You look great."
With a slight lift of her chin, Olivia invited him to join her in bed. Fitz didn't skip a beat, only getting to his new destination in four rushed steps. She giggled when he slid right up to her, pressing his lips on her skin, hovering over her.
"I'm so glad you're here."
Fitz murmured, "Me too. Thank you for inviting me."
"Give me some sugar."
No further instructions were needed. Their hands continued to roam, making up for loss time. Taking in the familiar scents of cologne and perfume, with the pressed fabric becoming ruffled and wrinkled. Olivia sighed into their kisses, already becoming content with their reunion, while tugging at Fitz's shirt, "You should take this off. Don't want dirty clothes on these sheets."
He gave her a clever grin, nodding slowly. "Yes, ma'am."
They chose not to separate while Olivia tried to "help" him disrobe. Fitz had to keep touching her lips that were full, so delicious to taste and nibble on. Deep kisses continued as she took off her remaining apparel. The moan leaving his throat was confirmation.
"Hey," she spoke, pausing their frantic movements, rubbing his arms. "Wanna finish what we started earlier?"
Fitz kissed her again and then answered. "Mmhmm. Most definitely." The vibration of his lips caused her to shiver.
Olivia willed herself to be patient, giving him a minute to get a condom, and get situated. Feeling him so close, to start whenever she gave the word. She squeezed his bicep, and winked at him. Already, they were breathing in sync, collectively sighing once Fitz pushed himself into her.
It was apparent they were starved for each other; Olivia arched her back, lifting her ass, so she could meet Fitz's thrusts. It was so overwhelming, she began to cry out in words that he was not familiar with.
"Dey dey...Fucking dey dey!"
Puzzled, Fitz decreased his stroke speed. "You okay, baby?"
Her eyes widened, highly confused, but immediately feeling a little embarrassed. "Oh. Umm," she blushed. "It's this phrase we use back home."
Fitz kissed her forehead, while rolling his hips again, becoming reaquainted with her body. "As long as you're okay, I don't mind what you say."
"Perfect," Olivia grasped his shoulders, assuringly. "I just want this. I want you."
It didn't take long for them to figure out the ideal rhythm they wanted. Alternating laughters and whispers. Olivia gave him a playful nudge, wanting to switch. She felt like riding him, fucking him hard. Rocking back and forth, grinding on his dick, letting him touch her everywhere. Hoping her confidence would drive him to the edge.
"Fuuccckkk..."
"I know."
Resting his hands on her hips, he watched her move in the most exquisite way. Her curves, the swell of her breasts... the intense eye contact.
"You like that, baby?"
Fitz nodded, lifting his head to meet Olivia's mouth and gave her an emboldened kiss. He loved feeling her clench on his dick.
She grinned, then bit her lip, with her heart swelling. One of her favorite things about having sex — watching her man lose it, with pleasure apparent all over his face. The surprises and moans.
"You'll need to move," he requested, his voice a little shaky. Olivia knew he was going to come at any time, so they needed to go a bit longer.
"Where should I go?"
The room had become a microcosm of intense emotions and physical urges.
Fitz hooked his arm under her leg, giving him an amazing view and perfect angle. When he plunged his dick back in, Olivia's back arched, and she let out a satisfied moan.
"Ohmygod!"
With a smirk, he started a tantric rhythm. It was good for them try new things; matching the energy level of whoever was taking the lead.
"You look amazing, Livvie."
When words could not be uttered in the heat of the moment, they let their bodies do the talking.
Finally, they were reaching the point where they couldn't hold out any longer. Fitz made sure they both were in the right place...
Olivia loved it when he took her from behind, still giving him the intimacy he longed for. He was putting his all into this. She had to grip the headboard, dresser, his curls, or anything to stay steady.
He locked fingers with hers, as they continued to reach their high.
"Fuck...me..."
Olivia shook as she came, feeling so good to finally have him.
"Keep going, Fitzy..."
He pushed a few more times, and when finally he came, he let out the sexiest moan Olivia had heard. She nearly came again, just from hearing him.
Completely sated, she wiped her brow, while Fitz laid on her, giving a lazy kiss on her shoulder, before rolling off to the side.
"That…was so good."
"Perfect. Just what I imagined."
Fitz asked, "Oh?"
"Yes. As soon as I booked the room," Olivia replied, resting her head against the pillow. "I knew I wanted to do this. Get away with you and do everything we just did, without feeling restricted."
Her words sounded just right and it made his heart soar, knowing she really wanted to be with him; Fitz wrapped his arms around her bare waist. "I love that."
As their breathing regulated, their eyes met, just grateful to be in each other's company again.
"It's been too long."
"You're right."
She grinned, taking her sweet time to explore the planes of his body. Rugged and still incredibly soft. "Let's not do that again. I was starting to forget how good you felt."
After kissing her again, he confidently replied, "Trust me. I'd never let you forget."
With no immediate plans, Olivia ordered dinner, and it arrived forty minutes later. The two were in t-shirts and sweatpants, lounging on the couch, and watching TV. The large window gave them a beautiful view of downtown, something she hadn't truly paid attention to. But it was nice to sit and chill. Although the TV was on, Fitz was Olivia's main attraction. FaceTime could only do so much when it came to seeing her man. She didn't want to miss anything.
"Do you know your ears turn red when I kiss you?"
Fitz was mindlessly rubbing her leg, which was hanging over his. "Hmm? What?" He had to face her to gain some clarity.
She smirked, confirming her statement, "Mmhmm. They do."
"How do you know?"
"Sometimes I look at you. Your ears... You're so..."
Olivia paused, getting lost in the moment. He left her speechless at the most surprising time.
"Livvie," he whispered, "You can tell me."
"You're so damn cute."
Fitz chuckled softly. "Good Lord, I've missed you."
Wasting no time, he cupped her face, pressing his lips to hers. The reunion was getting sweeter and sweeter.
Back when they crossed the line from co-workers to more than friends, they had an agreement that they wouldn't spend the night…not yet. Very odd when it came to a modern day relationship, but Olivia thought it'd be a firm way to set boundaries. So neither would be late to get to work or have distractions. Fitz understood her concerns but he was confident her mind about the issue would change.
But the time had arrived...and they could take the next step.
I want you to journey with me. Explore all the hidden scenes. I don't mind just a bit of tension, but we've got to move in the same direction
Spooning had become one of their favorite positions. Olivia lightly kissed Fitz's back, with the intention of showering him with affection.
"You good?"
"Mmhmm."
Slipping her arm back, and replacing it with her right leg, to keep Fitz close, Olivia combed her fingers through his hair.
"You enjoy being the big spoon, eh?"
"Hell yeah," she giggled, tightening her hold on her strong, tall man. "I like it a lot and it gives me an excuse to keep touching you."
Fitz hummed in delight, loving the special attention.
"Did you see the bathtub?"
"Yes, I did."
Olivia added, "I was thinking we could use it this evening."
"I like that idea."
After she untangled herself from Fitz, she rose, and said, "I'll let you know when it's ready."
Olivia retrieved all the supplies, moving quickly so they could get started. She neatly laid her clothes to the side, pulled her hair into a bun, and stepped into the tub.
"Hey, Fitz..."
He walked in shortly after, impressed by the transformation.
"May I join you?"
"Absolutely," she replied.
The water felt amazing on their skin, soothing their now tired muscles, with all the contortions they did in bed. It was great to spend time together, outside of fucking each other's brains out. Anytime they made eye contact, whether a quick glance or deep in thought, it was always intentional, which was sexy.
Olivia was careful to not let too much water to spill when she maneuvered to sit in front of Fitz.
"How was the rest of your day?"
"Excellent," he squeezed out the washcloth, letting the water fall down Olivia's back, and then bringing attention to her chest. "How about yours?"
Smiling, she mentioned to him the excitement with the weekend was keeping her busy. It was the highlight of their first day back.
They took their time relaxing in the tub, before the water got cold, and they needed to dry off. The bathroom had a double sink so they used it to their advantage.
"You're staring."
"I know," Fitz remarked while Olivia slowly dressed into a sensible negligee.
"Mind yo business."
He stood behind her, still naked, pressing kisses on her freshly lotioned skin.
"Fitz..."
"What?"
"You are distracting me."
"Doesn't that happen on the regular?"
Olivia chuckled, gently using her ass to push him back. "Yeah, but it's different."
"I can't help but look at you," Fitz put his chin on her shoulder. "How could I not?"
"You're such a romantic."
"I try."
They locked eyes in the mirror. The adorable and shy smiles they were used to displaying, while hiding at work. She turned around, resting her head into his chest.
Fitz kissed her forehead. When she lifted her head, he professed, "You are beautiful."
"Thank you. So are you."
He couldn't pinpoint it exactly, but he was loving this side of Olivia. Carefree, flirty, and affectionate. Something was changing with her.
"When are you gonna put some pants?"
"Is that a requirement?"
Olivia gave herself a few seconds to think of an answer; she couldn't lie, Fitz with his big dick energy was a sight to behold.
"No," she shook her head, returning to her nightly routine.
"Okay then."
Fitz had this fire in his eye, that could not be quelled.
"Mister, what in the world?!"
An equal burst of emotions and sensations as they continued to quench their lustful thirsts. Olivia leaned in with her kisses, sucking on his tongue, digging her nails into his flesh.
"You can't get enough, can ya," he stated, grabbing her firm ass, knowing he was the reason they were in this situation.
"I get to have you all to myself? Imma capitalize."
It was 11 o'clock, and it had been a very long day for the both of them, but not before Fitz carried her, propping her up on the dresser, and nudging her legs apart.
"Fitz..." Olivia watched him kneel.
"I can't let you go to sleep without this. I want you to dream about it."
When his tongue reached her clit, she sharply gasped. The sensation was like touching something hot and an ice cube at the same. The mix of pleasurable extremes.
She was humping his mouth, desperate for her release.
"Hurry, baby," she moaned, stroking her foot on his back. There had to be some kind of balance because she knew she'd fall over — metaphorically and literally — at any second.
Fitz's hand gripped her thigh, holding her still. Quickly pulling away, he looked at her, with a devilish grin.
Her core was throbbing. Her whole body was aching for him. All the while, she glared at him for stopping when she needed him the most.
"Okay," he replied, chuckling, before diving back into her wetness.
Olivia moaned, grateful that his lips returned to her clit, and his dominant hand — his left — was touching her; his thick fingers spreading her open again.
His muffled sighs were giving her an idea that he was enjoying this as much as she was.
"Fitz!"
He lifted his eyes to meet hers, and that's when she lost all of her control.
Shaking and immediately pulling on his hair.
Fitz coaxed the intense orgasm out of her body. Watching her shake with pleasure, because of him, was delectable. He continued to gently stroke her leg.
"Hmm, you like that, baby?"
Olivia breathed, "Yeah..."
"I can't get enough of you," he admitted.
"Wow, look at you."
Fitz knew what Olivia was referring to; his erection was hard to ignore. "I can't control them when I'm around you."
"I'm glad," she reached for it, carefully rubbing his tip, and holding to his shaft, moving her hand up and down, "But hopefully at work, you can."
With Olivia stroking him, in the middle of the bedroom, caressing his balls, Fitz shivered. His abs were contracting, and his mouth couldn't stay closed. He couldn't take it anymore. He silenced her after her little joke, and lifted the bottom of her little nightgown.
"I wasn't done with you and I literally just put this on, Grant."
Playing with the delicate straps, he teased, "Baby, they are meant to be taken off."
She closed her eyes, while giggling, because Fitz was definitely right. No point in resisting if she wanted the same thing too. Her plan worked — she wanted him to take it off.
After a little play with her breasts, he went to get another condom.
"Hurry," she cried, feeling how wet she was becoming. The unspoken agenda was to fuck all weekend, but she didn't expect all this action in one night. It was clear how badly they missed each other. She wanted all of him. Again. If she could go all night, making love and fucking, she would.
"What do you want to do to me?"
Fitz pressed his thumb on her clit, while teasing her entrance with his sheathed member. He was fooling around, taking his time.
"Noooooo..." she pleaded, smacking his shoulder blade. "You can't do that. Just get inside of me!"
"As you wish."
Lay loose and let your mind go free, show you things that you've never seen, but you just got to go with me
And off they went, not hesitating for a moment. A fast and hard nightcap. The headboard was moving a little bit, but hopefully any marks would remain hidden.
"Harder... more."
"Fuck, baby."
Olivia spread her legs a little further, so Fitz's dick could reach deeper. She saw his eyes roll.
Touching his flushed ear, she encouraged him. "Keep going, baby."
As he slid in and out of her, he noticed everything felt so much better. There were no limits, not just physically, but they could trust each other more.
Their eyes met while he continued to thrust. It could have been a random occurrence, but the connection they made was dreamy. Olivia smiled, holding on, and he dipped to kiss her again.
Finally, they orgasmed in tandem. After stilling to let the currents rip through her, she laughed, feeling so cared for.
"Whew! That was it," he rejoiced, before giving her another kiss.
After they cleaned up, they laid still. Olivia felt a chill down her spine, realizing she should get up.
"I should put on a shirt."
He reached for her arm. "Don't go."
Looking over her shoulder, she asked, "Huh? What do you mean?"
"Stay. Please?"
Olivia's chest expanded; his request and the soft pleading in his blue eyes made her feel a type of way. "But I get cold. Easily."
"I'll keep you warm. I promise."
His fingers were on her back. They did bring warmth to her skin, so Olivia could only imagine how she'd feel beside him.
"Okay. But once you fall asleep..."
"Don't make promises you can't keep, Miss Liv."
She scoffed at his quips, but she thoroughly enjoyed every moment.
Being in each other's arms, was what they needed.
Just them. No one else. A night to remember.
Olivia woke up first, slipping out of bed. Keeping her word, she didn't put anything on. But routine didn't quit just because she wasn't home. A quick shower and undoing the French braids she styled for bed. She thought it would be a chill morning so top bun it would be. When she returned, in a t-shirt and boy shorts, Fitz was still on his side, but was stirring a bit. She couldn't believe this actually happened. The sun was up, and they were in the same room.
He looked angelic, with his naked self and messy curls. Waiting for a minute, she kept her gaze on him, completely enamored. This was a first she had to keep in the front of her mind... maybe this could be a habit. Waking up with him.
Fitz must have sensed her being nearby, and slowly opened his eyes. Giving her a stunning smile.
"So... Did we actually sleep together?"
He rubbed his eyes. "I think we did. Look at you. No heading out before midnight?"
"Nope," she tapped his nose, before getting under the covers again. "We've made progress."
Equally grinning just as wide, Fitz added, "I can get used to this."
"Good morning, handsome."
"Good morning, beautiful."
They shared a kiss.
"Mmm..."
"I could stay in bed all day."
Olivia leaned back, offended. "I hope you don't. We spent too much time here last night. We should hang out."
Now it was Fitz's turn to look confused. "Really?"
"Really."
Eyebrows knit, he asked, "Like where?"
"Uhh... wherever. If that's alright with you. Hopefully you're not too tired..."
Fitz scoffed, while getting out of bed, moving towards his suitcase. "Excuse you, Miss Pope. I have lots of energy."
He didn't care about going out, but he knew she was so pressed about details. The thought was they'd never get to this stage, without some dramatic fallout. Annalise had mentioned doing more advertising throughout the city, but they were still new, so it didn't seem to be that much of a big deal. But Olivia still wanted the luxury of telling others, instead of them being "exposed".
When he returned from taking his own shower, Olivia was dressed in a light sweater, leggings, and tall boots.
"You're changing."
Shrugging in a manner Fitz thought was humorous, she replied, "I am..."
They visited the Old Ebbitt Grill, which was a ten minute walk from the hotel. To Olivia's delight, the outing was simply uneventful. She needed to trust her instincts and relax. They got to talk about life in Washington, places to visit once the weather warmed up, and their families. Lunch was fantastic, with excellent service.
Fitz smiled to himself after placing his napkin down. "This was wonderful, Liv."
Patting his hand, she replied, "I'm so glad. I told you I'm loosening up a bit."
"I love it."
"Twenty questions?"
"Sure."
"Favorite color."
"Blue."
Olivia declared, "That makes sense. You look great in that color," she gestured to his navy pullover sweater.
"Yours?"
"Black. Neutrals. Sometimes I enjoy a good blush. Are you still liking this job?"
"What? Of course," Fitz said. "It's fun again. I get to wake up and work with people I like. How about you?"
"It's so much different than just reporting the news. I like how upbeat it is, if you will. I want my personality to show. Plus, the advantage of working in a large metropolitan area is fantastic."
"It is incredibly hard to keep doing something when you're not interested," he revealed. Pointing his finger at her, he said, "Now, no more work talk!"
Olivia didn't want to hear that, but she knew it would be better if every breathing moment was not connected to their show. She quietly asked, "One more question...When did you realize... Umm, what drew you to me?"
"You command the stage. All eyes are on you. When I saw you in that fucking green room, I knew I was gonna be in trouble."
Their eyes met, and she said, "Wow."
"What about you?"
"Your personality, the way you care for everyone, is so admirable. And sorry," Olivia raised her hands in deference, "You were hot."
With a frown, he asked, "Were?"
Olivia scrunched her nose, "Don't twist my words. You still are. But... you were someone I could work with."
After Fitz took care of the bill, she suggested they take an Uber and explore more.
They spent a few hours walking around a few of the Smithsonian buildings. Eventually, they reached the National Mall. Olivia had never been, so it was nice to finally connect the descriptions of the area with an actual visual.
It was still cold, but not to the point of freezing, so Olivia and Fitz kept walking among the tourists. With the U.S. Capitol behind them, Fitz asked a stranger to take their picture. Nothing fancy, just a memento of their excursion. It was an adorable shot, with Olivia leaning into him, and his cheek resting on the top of her head.
"What do you think," he angled the screen for her to see.
Her heart jumped. They looked super cute together, and comfortable. Smiling big, she replied, "I love this. AirDrop it."
She saw the confusion.
"What?"
"AirDrop, baby," she teased. "Or you can text it to me. That works too."
Fitz whispered in her ear, as they continued walking, "I knew what you meant..."
Lay down what's impeding you, 'cause I want to get close to you...
Venturing in another direction, they took the Metro back to the St. Regis. On their short ride, they continued the Q&A.
"What are your parents like?"
Olivia laughed, not because of the question, but thinking of how she could answer concisely. "They're somewhat traditional, but they love to have a good time. Out of control, in a good way. Definitely Southern to the core. I think they'd like you. Maybe when they visit, y'all can meet."
"Oh, really?"
Fitz gasped, which made her laugh more.
"I think so."
As they walked to the hotel, Olivia would stop him in his tracks, either by standing in front of him, falling behind, or take his hand, so she could bring him close, and give him many languid kisses. It felt amazing to not care that much.
"Hey, thanks for humoring me today."
Fitz wrapped his arms around Olivia's waist, with a cheesy grin, cheeks raised, and everything. "This was perfect. I'm proud of you. Guess what"
"What?"
"My mother thinks you're awesome, from what she's seen, and from what I've told you."
"What have you said?"
Fitz calmly declared, "And I quote, 'Olivia Pope is a great cohost and we've become good friends.'"
Holding back a guffaw, Olivia exclaimed, "Oh my god, I love that! Wait...Does she know?"
Grimacing, Fitz answered, "Not yet. I didn't want to say anything to her without talking to you first. But since I've moved, Mom keeps telling me to not to have a crush on you."
The laughter continued to rise from her belly — "What?"
"Yeah. She knows my habits and patterns."
"And what is that? Being attracted to your co-workers?"
"And you don't?"
Olivia waved her hand, "Get out of here! Hell no. That's why I'm fucking baffled by you."
Fitz playfully rolled his eyes; "Performance crushes happen. And it's common knowledge to my family and friends that I'm drawn to powerful women."
"Crushes?"
The question threw him off; his face was getting a little flushed. "Uhh..."
Olivia shouted, "No, no, I get it! I'm just teasin' ya."
Fitz took her hand, giving it a kiss. "You know how I feel about you. You know that. Olivia Pope, you amaze me."
Hearing him express himself made her feel better.
"I—"
"You what?"
Blinking fast to deflect, yet again, she took his hand and led him to the elevator.
"Let's get in."
After he pressed the button to take them to the 13th floor, Fitz smirked, rubbing his nose against hers.
"Hi."
"Hi."
"What if someone comes in," she mumbled, against his mouth.
Lowering his voice, Fitz said, "The bell will ring and the car will pause, and we will know."
But she couldn't trust any of that, because time would get away from her, whenever they were together. Especially as their kisses deepened.
Thankfully, no one interrupted them. When the door opened, their suite was right by the elevator, so it was convenient to saunter in their room so they could continue. It was a miracle they didn't bump into anyone or knock down a plant. Olivia barely could open her purse to get the card, because her tongue was down his throat.
"Oh my—Fitz...back up a little, let me swipe the card."
His stubborn self ignored her request, and kissed the side of her neck. "Hmm, nah..."
Almost falling into the foyer, they dropped their winter coats, and kissing their way to the bed. She gently pushed him, so he could fall onto the mattress.
Olivia straddled him, keeping her hands on his chest. They smiled and shared another kiss. Who knew making out could be this exhilarating? Everything about their getaway was so much fun.
"I— Shit!"
"Livvie?"
"No, I'm fine." Breathing deeply, she decided to spill what had been on the tip of her tongue. "I didn't think I was going to fall for you this hard or this quickly. It scares me sometimes."
Fitz grunted as he rolled them over, so he could be on top.
"Is that okay?"
"Yes. I didn't think I'd say this but..."
She watched his eyes look right into her soul. She felt empowered to share because he made her feel safe.
His chest was rising and falling, with anticipation.
"I—I love you, Fitz."
The tension in her chest deflated after admitting what she had been wanting to tell him for weeks. She didn't know how he would receive it, but it felt so damn good to tell him. Even if he wasn't exactly on the same page, she took the plunge. That was one of her goals—to drop the safe facade and just go for it. Usually, she never was the first to say those important three words, but she had to.
What felt like a lifetime, was only a few seconds. Fitz's eyes brightened; his jaw relaxed and he began to smile.
"Good."
"Oh," she lifted her eyebrows, a little nervous, but still feeling relieved, while brushing her fingers against his cheek.
"Yes, because, I love you too," he answered, sitting up, and encouraging her to join him. He used his hands to frame her face, and brought her close to give her the most precious kiss.
"I am in love with you. I am so happy you told me."
Olivia whispered, "I'm in love with you too."
Your love is so good that I want to show you...
Hi, friend. I hope and pray you're staying safe and taking care of yourself.
Dedicating this chapter to a lovely lady who always thinks I'm doing a good job, even I don't think that's the case at all. Hope this made you smile, Miss G.
