I do not own Sailor Moon or its characters
Carlisle sat behind a large oak desk, shuffling through a stack of papers when a ringing came from his computer. It was a video call. Carlisle accepted it and Cole's face popped up.
"Carlisle, how's Sweden?"
"Finland, and it's freezing. I was never one for the cold, Cole. How are things back home?"
"As well as they can be. Did you get the report I sent?"
"I'm looking it all over and making notes to bring to the council next week. There are several issues I think we should discuss," Carlisle said.
"Thanks, send me your notes before the meeting if you can. Ami called me this morning, she wanted me to update you on the attacks that happened the other night," Cole told him.
"So, it is true. They attacked two Vampire groups?"
"Yes, seven coven members murdered."
"Any suspects?" Carlisle asked.
"No one stands out, but we believe this is the act of a radical group."
"The same one we were monitoring in Europe?"
Cole nodded. "I'm sending you our report now. They're growing more and more confident, and they're extremely vocal about their objections to our presence."
Several pictures downloaded onto Carlisle's computer. "Humans have always been opposed to our existence," Carlisle said.
"True, but this new leader has been broadcasting their plans for a more aggressive campaign against us on the dark web."
"Sounds like trouble. Who is he?" Carlisle asked.
"The information that we've gathered is preliminary, but from…"
Suddenly the entire house went black and all electronic devices cut out.
Carlisle waited a moment for the backup generators to kick on, but the house remained dark. Something was wrong if the generators were out. Carlisle took his gun from the drawer in front of him.
He opened the door to the hallway where several soldiers were trying to establish communication on their radios.
"Sir, I think the signal's being blocked. We've lost all contact with the perimeter."
"Can you scan for a jammer?" Carlisle asked.
Carlisle looked out of the large window. The grounds were dark all the way to the tree line, and somehow it seemed darker, like some kind of shadow had fallen over them.
The radios squawked to life.
"Breach, breach, they're inside the perimeter!"
Carlisle saw movement in the shadows, and something came hurtling towards him. "Get down!"
He moved from the window right as something crashed through the glass.
CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK...
Carlisle looked at the metal ball that had rolled next to him. Before he could speak there was a sudden blast of light.
