"Salima…." Hilary whispered blankly, "What…happened to Kai?"
The brunette had already prepared herself for facing the bitterest part of the reality, closing her eyes and clasping the arm of the dual-haired Spaniard, another hand gritted into a fist. Inside her chest, her heart was on the verge to explode, producing no sound but giving her the maximum amount of inflammation at the same time. Yet, she controlled herself. She was the lover of Kai Hiwatari, the vice-president of the central students' union of their university, a young political leader who knew nothing in this world except honesty, justice and the path of truth. Weeping for him wouldn't suit her, she knew it. With her emotionless ruby orbs, she stared at the redhead to hear the ultimate, harsh truth from her mouth.
But strangely, an unexpected smile rose in the lips of the beautiful scarlet, surprising both the brunette and the dual-haired girl. Rushing to the former, Salima glomped on her and squealed, "Kai's alive! He's regained his sense!"
That, suddenly, removed all the burdens from the heart of the chocolate-haired girl which were really crushing her chest. Somehow wrapping her arms around the neck of the redhead, the brunette burst into silent tears which she was concealing, not letting them fall. She had prayed a lot for the safety of the dual-haired boy but she'd also prepared herself for the ultimate outcomes, staying strong and taking the revenge. However, she didn't have to do them because he was still living on the earth. Her head still felt quite light to her but she didn't bother a tad. Salima patted her head, hearing her muffled cries. Julia came to her aid too.
"Hil, don't cry anymore now," The Spanish girl wiped her tears, "Now, they aren't needed. Your love has won it, Kai has made it. Now, it's only the time of happiness, okay?"
"Jul…Jules…." Hilary shivered, "I…I want to meet Kai once. Where's he?"
"He's been shifted to the regular cabin," Salima replied, "It's number is 107. Go and meet him."
Salima didn't have to say them. Before it, Hilary banged the door of her room open and ran through the hospital lobby, almost colliding with the working doctors and nurses and not caring whether someone was coming behind her or not. Reaching the same cabin about which Salima had informed her, she thrusted the door and panted, placing one of her palms there and bending. She could see the dual-haired university student in a half-lying position on his bed with no oxygen mask on his face. Some tubes previously attached to his body were also removed, only the saline drip was still there. Misaki and Ayaka were talking to him. Seeing the brunette, they smiled and stood up.
"See, Hilary has also regained her sense finally," Misaki was overjoyed, "Come in, my child. How're you feeling now?"
Kai's tired eyes got filled with concerns when he saw the dark circles under the dimmed, frazzled ruby orbs of his girlfriend. The size of her face felt decreased. Hilary just stared at the face of her boyfriend, still pale and weak but holding the same amount of strength, courage and determination, even returning from the deathbed. Her heart wrenched, she felt to curse Brooklyn and his gang for doing this to the man whom she loved the most in this world. They both were feeling fatigued, restless. Yet, she answered to Misaki, "I'm fine now, mom."
"Stay with Kai for a while, honey," The mother said, "Let us bring some breakfast for you. You both must be very hungry at this time."
Misaki was right, both their stomachs were completely empty because they didn't have a single bead of water or a sole crumb of food since the last day. Nonetheless, it didn't bother them much. As the mother-daughter duo left, Hilary slowly heaved her feet; Kai gave a small, weak but assuring smile to her. Pulling the chair very gently as if there'd been nothing to hurry, she sat beside the bed and gazed at the serene, calm face of the half-Russian. The person had struggled a lot to survive and he succeeded in it finally. Her love was a real fighter. He'd fought against all the injustice in his campus as well as his own death, with equal amount of courage and willpower, not giving up. Yet, Hilary's heart throbbed, thinking what could have happened to him. Seizing his hand in hers, she placed her forehead and nose on it and sobbed.
"Hey…." With another hand, Kai caressed her head, "You're brave."
"But you're audacious!" Hilary didn't stop her tears, shrieking, "Who told you to go to my house yesterday? Moreover, being alone? Did you think ever about the consequence before doing it? If something…happened to you, how…how could I live in this world, Kai? Did you think it?"
"I'm alive, in front of your eyes…." The slate-haired student breathed, "Just relax now…"
"I…I almost lost you!" She sniffed, staring at him with her bloodshot orbs, "You…you cannot imagine what I underwent yesterday. I literally fought against my own, monstrous father, threatening him of committing suicide, came out of my house somehow and reached here only to see how you were but you kept giving me shocks and pains! You know, in my 20-year long life, never did I experience so much pain! You…you really scared me a lot, Kai!"
"I'm okay, now, Hil…" He tiredly exhaled, "Don't worry now."
"Kai…promise me," Not leaving his hand, she demanded, "You'll never leave me! If you do it, I-I won't be able to live. Kai, in this world, I really have no one except you because I'm already dead to my father. Please, don't leave me!"
"Hils…"
"No! I don't want to hear any explanation from you!" Stubborn she was being, "If you have to go somewhere, you'll have to let me accompany you! Without me, you cannot go anywhere, Kai!"
"Fine…." He held her hands, "I'll never leave you. Even if the death comes, we'll stand together, holding each other's hands. Just like this."
Bursting into tears again, Hilary wrapped her arms around his shoulders and buried her nose in his neck, her pearly waterworks drenching the light-blue hospital gown of the half-Russian. He enclosed her slim body between his well-toned arms, holding her closer to his physique as his nose got engraved in her soft, chocolate tresses, gifting it of the divine perfume of her locks. Gently stroking her back, he comforted her. He always knew that she loved him truly but that day, he realized how intense and pure her feelings were. She could do anything for him and she'd already done a few impossible tasks. Kai was so lucky to have her by his side, so was Hilary.
When I have your hands in mine,
I have with me the heavens divine,
When you're close, the world is naught,
Destroyed in your love, a triumph sought.
Hilary didn't go back to her house anymore. She started staying with Julia and Salima, in the hostel. The environment was nice but not as luxurious as her home. She had to do some chores herself which she had never done because of the presence of the maids around her always. But she didn't mind. She learnt washing clothes, dishes, ironing clothes and a few more life skills. Soon, due to her excellent academic records and talents, she managed a temporary online job. Now, she didn't have to get worried about money. Now, maybe, she became a beggar from a princess but it never bothered her. Kai was the greatest amount of wealth for her, she didn't need anything else.
Everyday, she went to the hospital for visiting Kai. Not empty-handed, she used to bring something for him. Flowers were included compulsorily. She tried to cook for him, knowing his favorite foods from Tala. It couldn't be said that the dish was very delicious and mouthwatering but Kai felt much better after eating it. She was changing herself, adopting the lifestyle of the common people so that she could get him and prove herself worthy of him. She was ready to give all the tests which were required to prove the immense love of her for him. As Kai was knowing it, he was feeling proud of her and himself too. He didn't commit any mistake to choose the right person for his life. And why not? Of course, he deserved it as well.
Finally, after a long week of observance, Kai got released from the hospital. Misaki went home earlier with Ayaka for the preparations of small celebrations. Kai's friends remained with him. Done with all the formalities, when they came out of the hospital, they met a purple-haired person who was familiar only to the boys. As the girls saw the brightness on the face of the guys at the sight of the stranger, they wondered who he was.
"I'm extremely sorry, my child, I was so busy that I couldn't come here to visit you," Boris bent his head down, "Anyways, how're you now? Fine?"
"Hn." Kai replied.
"That's Kai Hiwatari, my boy!" The owner of the newspaper patted his shoulder. Then he looked at the brunette, "Ow, you must be Hilary Tachibana, right?"
"Um…yes," Hilary nodded, "Nice to meet you, Sir."
"Nice to meet you too, my child," Boris simpered, "I'm Boris Balkov, the owner of a newspaper company. From Kai, I've heard a lot about you."
Hilary blushed but Kai felt confused. When had he exactly spoken to Boris about Hilary? He couldn't remember it despite trying much.
"Anyways, Kai, I would like to suggest you one thing," The violet-head spoke, "Now, you're back. When an injured lion survives, he returns, getting stronger and fiercer. Now, it's the time to prepare for the future battles which are yet to come but can come anytime. For opening the eyes of Hachiro Tachibana, these battles are needed."
Shifting his eyes to the brunette, he declared, "From today onwards, Hilary will stay with me."
The slate-haired Russian as well as his friends frowned. Yes, it was true that Kai trusted Boris a lot just like his mentor but he was protective of Hilary too. He could never leave her in the hands of another man, be him like her father. His amethyst eyes clearly showed his reluctance to send his girlfriend with Boris. The brunette was surprised too. At the first meeting, how could someone say like that when they didn't know each other completely? Would it be right to have faith on him only then?
"Kai, I think Sir Balkov is speaking the truth and the right thing," The redhead's trust on the editor was higher than that of his friend, "Let Hilary go with him. He'll keep her safe and sound."
"But…" Kane looked at his girlfriend, "If Hilary is not staying with Julia and Salima, her father may harass them to know Hilary's locations. I think Hilary shouldn't go alone with Sir Balkov."
"Exactly!" Boris didn't get nervous at the clever thought of the blunette, rather appreciating it, "Julia and Salima can come with Hilary too. Hilary will not also feel bored with them. Our precious princesses will be safe in my castle and we; the men, will prepare for the upcoming battles. Okay?"
"Ah!" Max squealed, "Already getting the feelings of an adventure!"
"Max…" The redhead rolled his eyes, "It's not a game, you know. Sir Balkov, you don't worry. We have full faith on you, please, keep them safe."
After it, the girls also didn't have any problem at staying at the place of the editor. Sharing hugs with their boyfriends, they got into the large car of him. While biding Hilary goodbye, Kai was feeling strange. He believed Boris but his heart was telling him that something was fishy. The man hadn't come to meet him in the hospital but while leaving, all of a sudden…they really didn't make any proper sense to the half-Russian. However, Boris's words were right and logical. Besides, Julia and Salima were there too with her. She was safe from a side, he guessed. Seeing the car leaving, he breathed calmly. It was time for him to go home too.
But he really couldn't see what happened inside the car. Putting on a mask, the purple-haired driver adjusted the looking glass and had a glance of the girls who were gossiping cheerfully on the backseats. Giving a mysterious smirk, he pulled the shutter between him and the girls, completely separating himself from the university students and clicked a button at the side of the break…
When the chocolate-haired girl's sleep broke, she opened her eyes, finding them bizarrely heavy all of a sudden. In the car, unknowingly, she had slept, maybe because of tiredness. But squinting, she found herself in a half-dark room, red dim-lights on the walls somehow washing away the murk. She was on a four-legged steel-leather chair, her head leaned against it. When she was about to get up from it, she realized that her wrists were tied to its handles with nylon cords, so were her ankles. Hearing the muffled groans of her female friends, she wheeled her head as she discovered them in the same condition like her, bound with the chairs. All they three were so confused that they couldn't utter any single word for a few seconds.
"Hey…" Julia opened her mouth first, "Where are we?"
"Sir Balkov was supposed to keep us at his home, right?" Salima questioned, "Is it really his home? I don't think so."
"Good evening, children."
A crackly pitch irritated the ears of the girls as pushing the door, someone stepped in, his long shadow fell in the reddish glow on the floor. Pondering, the students raised their eyes and discovered the purple-haired man, standing at quite a distance away from them and crossing his arms on his chest. There was a devilish smirk clinging to his lips, in darkness, his eyes glowed like those of a hungry predator.
"Sir Balkov?" Julia frowned, "What's this?"
"Relax, my girl, it's just the special treatment of Boris Balkov to his special guests," Boris put out a cigarette from his pocket, "You don't need to worry at all as long as you're staying here."
"You're such a scoundrel!" The brunette tried to free herself, scuffling against the bindings and tossing her head desperately.
"Ow honey, it's your father who made me a scoundrel," He put the lit cigar between his lips, "I have principles but not beliefs. It's such a wonder as well as a shame that a cutie pie like you was born to him.
Hilary seethed, clenching her teeth. Julia was staring at the purplette with her fiery emerald eyes, muttering curses under her breaths. The redhead was weeping helplessly, tears seeping on her cheeks from her beautiful onyx orbs. The brunette cursed herself too for getting themselves in such a problematic situation. She could recall that Kai hadn't been agreeing to let her go with Boris though he'd not been expressing it verbally. She felt sorry not to listen to him at that moment. The Spaniard wondered how Tala had become a fan of such a cheap-minded guy like that violet-head. The chocolate-haired girl cussed her fate. Was she only meant to be the sacrificial lamb of these dirty politicians?
"Don't worry, child, I won't do any harm to you," The editor blew out the smoke, "Just let me do the last business with your father."
"Pathetic you are!" Julia scowled.
"If Kai knows it once," Hilary hissed, "He'll not spare you!"
"Only knowing about his dangers, he's let you come with me, my girl, hehehe…." Boris again puffed the cigarette, "I'm his mentor after all. Kai will never doubt me, you know."
"Bastard!" The brunette snarled, "Don't dare utter the name of Kai with your dirty tongue!"
"Aww…looks like you've earned the skill of uttering curse words from your dad," Pulling out a roll of scotch-tapes, Boris proceeded towards the girls and fixed their mouths with it. They couldn't defend because of their restrained hands and feet. Cupping the face of Hilary tightly and having deep but lustful stares at her scared but infuriated ruby orbs, he whispered, "Told ya, I have principles, not beliefs!"
Striding towards the same open door, he left the room, pulling it which produced another loud sound, locking it properly. Now, he had to do another important task, the second but the most significant move of his mission.
"Where's Hilary?"
Misaki straightly asked her son, not seeing the brunette with him and his friends. In fact, noticing the absence of the girls, she became very surprised. They were much fond of Kai's mother, wanting to stay in her touch always. Even that day, they'd been saying that they would come again to her for learning cooking from her. Specially, Hilary had been the most eager one among them. However, not answering immediately, the boys exchanged perplexed stares. They didn't know whether it would be right to tell Misaki about the location of the girls at that time or not. Kai tried to handle the situation, proceeding to her, "Mom…she's at a safer place now."
"We thought that it would be better if the girls stayed out of these matters," Tala added, "Specially when Hilary's father will surely search for her, she won't be safe with us, nor will we remain safe if she stays with us. That's why…"
"So," Misaki blinked, "The girls became burdens to your shoulders?"
"No no," Kane furiously shook his head, "It's not like that, Mrs. Hiwatari. Mr. Tachibana can attack us anytime and we really don't want Hilary, Julia and Salima to get hurt because of us. We had to hide them at the place of a trusted person only for their safety. Once Tachibana is punished, we ourselves will get them back."
"No need," Still, the mother was finding the absence of the girls hard and unacceptable, "The girls have the right to accompany you always. They are not burdening, nor do you have to think about their security. I've seen specially Hilary; she can protect herself along with others. Just get them back."
"But…." The blonde tried to say something but the slate-haired VP stopped him, "Mom's right. It's time to get them back. Let's go, people."
As the university students went out, Misaki huffed, slumping on the sofa. She silently prayed, 'Oh God, let not anything happen to the girls…why am I getting these ill feelings about them?"
"What the fuck do you want?!"
At the other side of the telephone, the brown-haired politician nearly roared, desperate and panicked heavily after he'd known the state of his daughter. At it, Boris grinned, comfortably leaning against the leather chair and resting his head on his palm. From the frantic but scared tone of his rival, he could easily understand that he'd hit his weak point perfectly. Hachiro was losing his temper bit by bit but Boris wasn't. He was, in fact, enjoying it a lot, feeling tickling sensations all over his skin. Not saying anything immediately, he lit another cigarette. Ah, finally, that very auspicious day arrived!
"I only want that thing," He puffed it, "In return of which you can get your only daughter back."
"You fucking asshole!"
"There's no profit to scream and waste your vocal energy, Mr. Politician," Boris waved his hand, "Don't show me the fear of your pet dog Brooklyn. They cannot touch a single hair of me. Don't forget that for defending that Brooklyn Masefield, I myself have prepared one and only Kai Hiwatari, with my own hands."
Right at that moment, someone pushed the door of the room and entered. The person stood right there, motionlessly after what he had heard. Not noticing it, Boris continued, "These all are the stories before 16 years. Then, in the procession against hunger, it's you who shot Kai's father dead, Susumu Hiwatari!"
The person who'd entered just there dropped his jaw, trying to get a hold of the nearby chair. His eyes became simply widened at the statement of the violet-head which he never got to know. He gnashed his jaw firmly; his nails dunked the sofa almost. The purplette said, "Only because I was your assistant in this mission, I had to suffer behind the bars for 16 years for your selfish motives. You've to give the profit of your business through cash! Along with that, you'll write your chair in my name too by the next thirty minutes! Otherwise, I'll tarnish the dignity of your beloved Hilary in such a way that you'll never be able to show your face in front of the nation and make Kai chase you like my loyal pet dog so that he can take the revenge of the murder of his father. You know, I have principles, not beliefs…."
"You bloody scoundrel!"
The same person held the collars of Boris from behind. Revolving his head, he punched at his jaw, making him fall on the ground. The call got disconnected as Boris got his face reddened. Looking up, he couldn't believe his own eyes. In fact, he never had expected the person to be at his office at that time. In a trembling voice, he spoke, "K…Kai?!"
"Neither you have any belief," Kai lifted him up from the ground by clutching his collars and pinned him against the white wall of his cubicle, "Nor any principle! Where's Hilary?!"
"Bang!"
The door of another room got open as three girls, exhausted and totally drained off, came out from there. Hilary's hand possessed a knife. She'd been on the chair which'd been right beside a table. She had found the penknife there. Somehow taking it, she'd cut the ropes of her hands and feet and freed herself as well as her friends. Together, they'd broken the door. Seeing Kai, she felt very excited and relieved at the same time. Running to him, she huffed, "Thank God, you've come at the right time here, Kai! You know what this rouge…."
"I know!" The dual-haired Russian dangerously glared at the purplette, holding his girlfriend closer. After knowing his reality, his blood was boiling. He couldn't believe that he had believed such a person who'd been the assistant of his sworn enemy, involved in the murder of his father. He cursed himself for putting so much trust in him. Damn, he should have understood it that the character of Boris wasn't like a saint on the same day when the violet-head had picked the pistol to his hands. He had been only used as one of his pawns! Facing the harsh truth, he shuddered in anger, feeling disgusted and frustrated. How easily he could get fooled!
"I-I didn't do any harm to them, Kai!" Boris gulped, "I…I was only trying to protect you from that Hachiro…."
"Shut up, you political hypocrite!" Kai again restrained him, shaking him violently, "The battle between you and Hachiro is the fight between two street dogs! For them, innocent students are getting destroyed! How many Tysons will have to give their lives away for your selfish motives? How many Brooklyns will have to become terrorists? Tell me!"
"K…Kai!"
"Enough!" The VP pulled the purplette by the nape to the same chamber where the journalists were working, followed by the girls, "Today, I'll get you both exposed before the entire Japan!"
"Sir!" One of the workers stood up, horrified, "What happened? Why's your condition like that?"
"Mister," Hilary scowled, directly pointing at Boris who was still struggling against the strong arms of Kai, "This man is a hypocrite, a fraud and a murderer!"
"What…." He took off his glasses, "What the hell are you saying?"
"Yes!" The brunette clenched her teeth, "This guy has turned an independent and sacred social medium like newspapers into a weapon, using the noble profession of journalism as well as the names of noble persons like you and earns money through blackmailing!"
"Yeah!" Julia furiously nodded, agreeing with the chocolate-haired girl, showing her hands to them, "Just look at the stains of the ropes on our wrists. This goon tied all of us in a room and was claiming for ransom to her dad only for cherishing his nasty political purposes!"
"We shouldn't be late then," Another worker quickly dialed the number of the police, "Let's get him arrested."
Meanwhile, the red-haired Russian, the blunette and the American also entered there. Seeing the condition of Boris as Kai was binding his hands with the same ropes, their jaws dropped too. Specially Tala was more flabbergasted as he respected Boris the most among his friends. He asked, "Kai, what's this? What the hell are you doing?"
Taking a sharp breath, Kai briefly explained everything to them. After knowing the truth, there remained no limit of their astonishment. Tala dropped to a chair, huffing, "Oh my goodness! We were blindly following this fraud, only getting used by him?"
"Thank God, we have got to know the truth now," Kane bit his lips, "Otherwise, we don't know what this guy could make us do…."
"Dear journalists," Hilary cleared her throat, "Along with getting him arrested, don't forget to take his photos. On tomorrow's newspapers, you have to publish the news in details!"
"Nooo!
Boris screamed but it failed as the work of the reporters had already started, the flashes of their cameras lit and got clicked again and again from different angles. Reaching Hilary, the VP gently laid a hand on her cheek and asked her worriedly, "You okay?"
"Don't worry about me, Kai," She squeezed his shoulders, "As long as your love and teachings are in my heart, no one can do any harm to me."
Soon, the students got the fraud editor arrested by the police. While coming out from the police station, they faced the raven-haired lady who'd come there running a long distance, wheezing and shaking uncontrollably. There was a black bump on her forehead. Probably she'd got it, getting her head slammed against any hard surface. Kai's eyebrows twitched, he rushed to her and seized her shoulders, "Mom?"
"K…Kai…." Tiredly, Misaki said, "Brooklyn and his gang have kidnapped Ayaka! Please…. s…save her!"
Across the narrow streets of the locality, the schoolgirl was running. Her legs weren't supporting her anymore, yet, she wasn't stopping to take rest. She could never have imagined that such a day would come in her life. The evening had been normal, she'd been doing her homework as always. Suddenly, a bunch of muggers had broken into their house. Without saying anything, they'd started dragging her. She'd been scuffling a lot to get rid of them but they were way too strong. Her mother had tried to free her too but in return, they'd shoved her hard on the ground. When they'd been tugging her, somehow biting their hands, she'd got herself free and now she was fleeing from them.
There was not a single light in the dark alleys, nor was a single person present there. Dreadful silence was prevailing everywhere. Ayaka didn't know where she was going. But she was sprinting, covering her eyes. Those goons had been glaring at her lustfully, she was still feeling nauseous, recalling them. She was only an innocent teenager, knowing nothing special of this cruel and heinous world. From their conversations, she felt that those brats knew her brother and Kai knew them too. Well…were they the same persons who'd murdered Tyson? Even when the memories of the blunette flooded in her brain, she wished to cry. Why had they even killed him?
Suddenly, stumbling against something, the girl fell down on the concrete way, bruising her elbows and knees. Panting, when she raised her crimson orbs, she saw the raven-haired guy who'd come to her house with Brooklyn, taking sips of an unknown golden-brown liquid from a glass bottle. A stench made her feel puking up right there. His name was Carlos, Brooklyn had called him the same. Staring at the female blunette, he devilishly chuckled, dropping the bottle on the surface as it got shattered in hundreds of pieces. Just like a hungry wolf, he shoved his paw to the innocent schoolgirl and lifted her up, clutching her tresses.
"No…no!" Ayaka cried, "Leave me!"
Who listened to who? Wrapping another arm around his waist, Carlos carried her on his shoulder. Ayaka tossed her legs, screeching, "Ni-san! Save me!"
Poor her, her brother wasn't there to protect her. She sniffled miserably at her fate but it couldn't even touch the stony heart of the assaulter. In the same state, drunken Carlos hauled her to a darker corner of the lanes, letting her painful screeches get muffled under his sturdy, ruthless palms….
I know that you all are already cursing me after reading the last part but I'm extremely sorry, I really cannot do anything now. *Cries* I hope you all will forgive me :(
Anyways, the last chapter will have a huge Outburst . Stay tuned for it.
Besides, I have some plans to write more KaiHil thrillers, one of them will be a TalaXJuliaXKaiXHilaryXTyson love pentagon (So cute, eh? ;D) based on an old Bollywood movie. And Kai will probably be an antagonist there and rest of the characters from the pentagon as protagonists. Villain Kai is cool though ;)
However, do read and review. Pardon the grammatical and spelling errors. Take care and stay safe :D
