AN2: A message to my reviewer who said that my characters are too OOC, please take a moment to think. Yes they would have ruled differently in Ancient Greece but this ISN'T Ancient Greece. Back then the gods had thousands upon thousands of worshipers and now they rely on their demigod children. They have to adapt to this new world they live in so they don't fade away. Also who says the gods can't try to move past their grudges? And it is found in Greek Mythology that some curses can be removed so the gods would have either forced Janus to remove the curse or made him fade to get rid of it. And even if they hadn't Kronos is relying on Thalia, Poseidon, and the other traitors. If Percy's line was cursed he'd lose that allegiance.

Son of the Moon

Chapter 41

-Percy-

"What happens if Kampe catches us?" Amanda whispered as they moved carefully to the cell, not wanting to draw the attention of the colossal monster that had just left it.

"Percy could probably take her out with his light speed technique. Right?" Nico replied, the son of Hades' statement turning into a question at the end.

"No." Percy sighed sadly, "I can't use that ability anymore."

"Wait what?" Nico looked at him confused, an expression shared by the others, "Does it have a ten year cooldown or something?"

"Or is it something you can only ever use once?" Amanda added on.

"Neither." He denied, "The problem is how that ability works. It absorbs the light from the moon to channel and direct that power into moving at the speed of light but to fuel it the users body starts using a vast amount of energy. Creating and using that power until they either die, cut off the power, or collapse into a coma from sheer exhaustion when their body can't keep up with the strain. The problem is that the person's body is always pumping out the highest amount of divine energy that they have within them as it refills constantly."

"So what's so bad about that?" Bianca asked, his companions not seeing the problem with the power.

"The problem is that I've become too powerful." He explained "A mortal body can't handle the kind of energy my body would produce if I used that power again at this point. If I was a god I might be able to do it but it could possibly make a god fade if they had enough power to begin with."

"So you became so strong…that you can't use your strongest ability." Nico asked in bewilderment.

"Yeah…so let's try not to get caught. Alright?" he said with a strained grin as the others nodded quickly. Getting to the cell he poked his head in to see Briares, last of the hundred handed ones, a titanic figure that few could match in raw strength…sobbing in sheer fear and despair.

Briares was shrunk down to the size of a human, with pale skin akin to milk. The ancient being whore nothing but a loincloth as if it was a diaper allowing its full scar covered body to be seen. The lower half of Briares could have passed for a human's if it weren't for the gigantic feet with eight toes apiece but it was the top half that really drew the eye. Briares did indeed have one hundred different arms, all sprouting from the immortal's chest at varying angles and spots, some sticking out freely while others tangled up with each other. Several of the hands were covering Briares' face as the figure wept, other hands were playing with spare bits of metal and wood lying around, assembling and disassembling different items at a breakneck pace, some hands scratched at the floor, some made shadow puppets, and some were even playing Rock, Paper, Scissors.

"Briares." He whispered as the sobbing stopped and the figure looked up in shock, tears still coming out as the giant sniffled. Looking at the now revealed face he saw that it was long and sad, with a crooked nose and teeth to match all underneath eyes that were a solid brown, as if molded out of clay.

"R-run away while you can demigods." The figure choked out "You will die if Kampe catches you. Die…or worse."

"We're not leaving without you." He said firmly, "I refuse to leave an ally of Olympus behind to suffer under that scaly bitch." Briares winced and looked around nervously, as if afraid Kampe would hear the insult and return because of it.

"You must flee!" Briares insisted "Kampe is back! The Titans will rise and throw all who do not follow them into Tartarus. You must flee and find a place to hide while you still can."

"Yeah, hiding isn't a Percy thing to do." Nico snorted "And while it would be a dangerous fight my money would be on Percy over Kampe. He killed Atlas after all, as well as three other monsters from the top ten."

Briares' clay like eyes went wide as the hundred handed one's face shifted from scared to downright shocked, "Y-you killed Atlas? But he was one of the strongest of the Titans. Kampe said that they were getting strong again."

"They may be getting strong but we're getting stronger." Percy insisted "While I still have a breath left in my body they haven't won and that isn't about to change."

"W-who are you?" Briares asked in confused trepidation.

"I am Perseus," he declared proudly as he gripped the celestial bronze bars with his right hand before grunting and ripping them clean out of the stone wall of Alcatraz, clattering stone announcing his success as the cell had a new door "son of Artemis."

"S-son of Artemis?" Briares asked in shock "But she gave the virgin oath."

"I was born of the sea but adopted by the moon." He explained with pride "I was raised by the hunt. I have bested Hercules in single combat and recovered my grandfather's stolen Master Bolt. I have sailed the Sea of Monsters, heard the Siren's Song, brought down Circe's academy, and delivered the final blow against Polyphemus. I have made my own Labyrinth in the land beyond the gods, defeated a legion of Sparti, slain the Nemean Lion, vanquished Ladon as well as Schiron's turtle, and slew Atlas. I am the son of the Moon, nephew of the Sun, Grandson of the king and queen, a friend of the traveler, an apprentice of war, a forger of Destiny, and I am Leader of the Demigods. Now tell me Briares," he looked down at the hundred handed one, "do you still fear Kampe? Do you choose to remain in this cell and allow them to rule over you?"

"I…I am still afraid." Briares admitted, the scared face returning causing Percy's heart to drop sadly before the giant continued "But…but I don't want to be." The scared face slowly gave way to one of determination "I will become strong again…I will fight past my fear at your side son of Artemis. For…for my brothers."

"And for yourself." Bianca said with a tender smile as the son of Uranus stood tall once more.

"And for myself." Briares agreed.

"How quaint." A rasping voice, dripping with fury, hissed out from above them as they looked up to see Kampe glaring down at them hatefully "You've given the little pest some courage. I'll just have to rip it from him then along with taking you miserable little brats to Lord Kronos. Having you four to mold to his designs would make this way far more…entertaining."

"Um…no." he stated before firing a large bolt of lightning up, striking Kampe in the face as she screeched and recoiled, falling back and crushing part of the building, consequently blocking the entrance back into the labyrinth with rocks. "I'll distract her!" he ordered "You guys get that door open!"

"What?!" his friends yelled only for him to ignore their cry as he took the gate he still held and hurled it like a discus at Kampe, gaining her sole attention and fury.

"You call yourself a top ten?!" he taunted as he ran down from the building, Kampe chasing after him, forgetting about his friends in her blind rage "I've had a harder time sharpening arrows!"

"Stand and die son of Artemis!" she screamed, swinging a massive Scimitar at him as he ducked, the poison from the blades slinging off and hitting the wall in front of him, causing it to start melting.

"Okay," he winced as he slid around a corner, Kampe not banking it as well "not letting that shit touch me." Running out of the building he saw a great deal of tourists looking at him oddly, although given that he was a teenager running like a bat out of hell outside of Alcatraz after a loud crash it was understandable. "Out of the way, out of the way, out of the way!" he yelled only seconds before Kampe broke through the wall with a thunderous roar of rage and hatred. He wasn't sure what the mortals saw but given their screams of terror it must have been terrifying.

"Die half-blood!" Kampe screamed at him.

"Rinse your mouth out!" he yelled as he used his power on the sea water to shove a great deal down her throat before she was able to close her mouth and smack away the rest "Your breath is horrible!"

"Percy!" Nico's voice echoed out as he turned to see his friends near a broken hole in the upper floor, Briares using all hundred hands to clear the pile of rubble and almost finished "Come on!"

"Coming!" he replied before ripping out a lamp post and slamming it down on the still somewhat dazed Kampe's head, dizzying her and giving himself a few seconds. "Throw me the chain!" he yelled to his honorary brother as Nico took the chained weapon the son of Hades always carried and threw one end down, the group pulling him up once he had a grip on it.

"Almost there!" Briares yelled desperately as Kampe roared and charged at them.

"Must go faster!" he yelled back as he grabbed the gate he had thrown earlier and threw it again, hitting Kampe in the nose midflight as she fell back down, clutching the broken feature just as Briares got the door open. "In! In! In!" he yelled as they all rushed in, the door shutting behind them only moments before Kampe could reach them. The moment the door was sealed shut he collapsed, laying on the floor of the Labyrinth and breathing heavily, his friends doing the same as they all gave terrified and exhausted laughs, even Briares although the hundred handed one's laughter was more terrified than exhausted.

"Do you guys think-" Nico wheezed out "that we'll ever have a regular summer?"

"Not in the slightest." Amanda chuckled, leaning against her boyfriend as they all rested "The Fate's find us much to interesting to give us normal."

"I've never seen Kampe so angry." Briares shivered.

"I have a talent for pissing my enemies off." He shrugged "But right now we have bigger things to deal with. We need to find a way to get you to either Camp Half-Blood or Olympus. They'll need all the help they can get with preparing for the upcoming siege."

"Maybe one of the gods can flash him." Bianca suggested "He isn't part of the quest so the ancient laws shouldn't stop them from doing that."

"Good thinking." He grinned, kissing his girlfriend's cheek as she blushed cutely "I'll call Hephaestus and see if he'll help." Pulling out a drachma, a light, and some water he prepared to make an Iris call, hoping that this was a sign of good things to come.
