The surgery day is tomorrow. All the preparations are done, the crucial moment will happen tomorrow. Life or death. 50 to 50. Win or lose.

Cristina was asked to meet Meredith in the conference room.

"Hey, Mer. You asked me to meet you here. What's wrong?"

"Nothing is wrong, I need to talk with you, you know, about… about.. My will"

"Oh, Mer. You don't have to do this. The surgery will be okay, it will be alright "

"No, it won't and you know that. No one has done it before, because it is impossible to operate on that tumor. I am an intern, but i understand that. And Derek, he has a God complex, but he can't do this"

"Then why even do the surgery?!" Cristina almost screamed at Meredith.

"Because I'm exhausted. My body is exhausted, I have no power to fight anymore. I can't be a surgeon anymore, I can't work. And Cristina, you need to understand, if I don't go for a surgery, I will still die, but I will suffer so much that I would beg for you to stab me."

"And with surgery, you won't feel a thing. Damn it"

"Exactly, i will just fall asleep and that's all. And I don't want a DNR, just let me go. I don't want to be in a special facility, I don't want to put my body through that, it's suffered enough." Meredith stopped for a minute, took a breath and continued "I want you to take care of my mom, when I"ll die I want you be the one to tell her, you're going to be her medical proxy and mine as well, because when it is going to be time to make choices, I want you to do them. House, um, i give a house to Izzie and George, please, let them stay there. And Cristina, I want you to continue your work, please, work twice as you can, learn and become the best fucking cardiothoracic surgeon in the world, I believe in you." a tear ran down her face. "One more thing. Don't let Derek blame himself for his death, because I go for this, knowing that I'll die. He'll save me from suffering, tell him that and don't let him waste his talent, he belongs in the OR."

Cristina sat in front of her, tears running down her face.

"Meredith Grey, don't you dare to die, because if you do I'll kill you." they both laughed

"Seriously, Mer, you're not finished. There is so much for you"

Human life is made up of choices. Yes or no. In or out. Up or down. And then there are the choices that matter. Love or hate. To be a hero or to be a coward. To fight not to give in. To live or die. Live or die. That's the important choice. And it's not always in our hands

Derek Shepherd was going crazy. Today is the surgery day. It's now or never. He needs to save her, because there is so much to say, to do. And her life is in his hands. He left his office and founded the scrub nurse Kathleen, who is going to scrub in today

"Good morning, Kathleen, tell the interns that they can start prepping the OR. And remember, no audience"

"Ok, Dr. Shepherd, we'll start at 6."

He nodded. He specifically scheduled a surgery for an early morning. It was his favourite time of day to operate.

He entered an OR. It was 6.02 am. She looked at Meredith, she lied on the table waiting for him.

"Hey, how are you?"

"Oh, you know, waiting for a fancy neurosurgeon to show up and take that thing out of me, because it's no longer cool to have it" he laughed softly at her words, she was in a good mood.

"Dr. Grey, are you ready to make history?"

She didn't respond right away, she waited.

"Yes."

He nodded and the anesthesiologist started to work on her anesthesia.

"It is beautiful to save lives. Let's have some fun" he said and made a cut.
