Inuyasha crossover Ouran High School Host Club
Chapter 8
He had thought that perhaps after last night's introduction, they would be more amicable and closer than the rest of his school mates had been to being at least acquaintance if not 'friends'. He felt instead like there was no difference from before they spoke to one another again, and what happened during their last night of dinner together, is seemingly the same repeat as the previous night.
Kyoya frowned from where he sat for dinner with Tamaki and a group of other girls that had decided to once again surround them, Kagome was nowhere to be seen. Since today is the last night, he had not expect her to join them for dinner, though he had originally wanted to create that opportunity to.
He had tried his luck that night at Skai again, this time he was allowed entry, but whatever drink that he had made an order for, he was only given ginger ale, treated like a kid. Every time he thought that he perhaps caught a glimpse of her at the corner of her eyes, it was just another person in the crowd in Skai.
She was there, watching him from the shadows and crowd. His movements and actions she was given tabs on it by the people working there. She merely acknowledge it with a mere nod or glance of her eyes but otherwise, did not bother much. So long as he was not drinking any alcohol here, it is all fine.
He had lingered for a while, but left an hour or so of waiting later. There was no longer need for him to wait if she was not going to appear or be there that night, he would have better chance of meeting her when they are back in school.
There were a few students that had discussed about extending their stay in the morning over breakfast together, Kagome was present, being that it was compulsory. And like always, she seated herself at one end of the table, away from the rest of them, and ate the least for breakfast as she excused herself later after a few words with their accompanying teachers.
Again, she was left on her own to her manage, no one bothered about her or gave her a second glance. His eyes however were also the ones that followed after her, not sure of what to make of that night when they talked.
She was different, so much different than what he had expected. There was that air of maturity for someone of her age, and yet he still do not know who she is, compared to the commoner student that everyone knows of in Ouran High.
She, Kagome Higurashi, is most unexpected in a few ways, but he did not like the way that she smile at him, it made him feel annoyed at it, the way she would just pacify him or humour him. Even as he left the island with the others, he was unable to see her.
Are they on the same playing level, she somehow made him feel otherwise, and that did not seem quite right as well…
Kagome watches from the office space as she was given updates and reports of the rest of her school mates slowly left the island one by one. She had not expected herself to catch the interest of the youngest of the Ootori, but it could just be a passing phase as well, not something that she should pay much mind to or bother.
It was easy enough for him to arrange that they pass one another, but that was about all, they would just passed by one another. Conversation starter, there was really nothing that he could say. She was always at the corner of her eyes and then she disappeared before he could say a single word.
She does not seem to be avoiding him, in fact, it was like it was back to how things were when they are both nothing but strangers. The gap was still there, if anything, it never seem to have shorten the distance.
"Mr Ootori, maybe you should stop with these coincidences," she told him in musing one of the days when they were passing by in the hall.
A smile curved at the corner of his lips, which he covered up partially when he pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose.
