AN: Alright everyone, the Poll for Gaea's form is semi done. I looked at the Poll results and here are the six highest voted names in random order: Elsa (Frozen), Yennefer (Witcher), Lust (FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood), Raven Branwen (RWBY), Emma Frost (Marvel), Lady Loki (Marvel). Why six? It's my lucky number. Why random? Because I wanted to hear the reasons more than popular demand why you want that form and, to make things more fun, I'm adding a little competition. The form that Gaea takes will also help shape how she acts and while she won't be a carbon copy of that character she's designed after they will influence her actions. So, I want to not only hear your opinion as to which of those six should win, your reasons why, and I'll hold a little competition for it. I want people to submit Omakes to me (Via review of PM, take your pick) of how you see that form of Gaea acting either alone or with someone or what, completely up to you. The best one for each of the six options will be put into a new Omake chapter and the creator of said Omake credited.
AN2: A secondary thing about that poll is that I'm surprised that less people voted for the more-goofy fun options like Elvira, Princess Daphne, Mad Moxxi, and Jessica Rabbit. Do you guys just not like their stories or what? Honest curiosity here as none of the ones I expected to take top spot did.
Son of the Moon
Chapter 50
-Percy-
With a grinding boom, the doors of the Labyrinth closed behind the group of five, "Alright, you see the way?" Amanda asked Rachel, the daughters of Hermes and Hades haven taken it upon themselves to do most of the talking with their clear-sighted guide to try and prevent her crush on him from growing or her getting one on Nico, the drama it would cause was the last thing any of them needed on this quest.
The redhead frowned and looked around the different paths that lay before them, "That one." She pointed to a path full of fog and mist, the vapors strangely refusing to extend very far past the opening of the tunnel.
"How can you tell?" Bianca frowned, trying to see whatever it was that made the redhead so sure.
"There's a…brightness to the floor." Rachel knelt down and ran her fingers over dirt "a faint golden glimmer, if I focus hard enough it almost seems like a path of light buried under the earth. That path," she pointed to the right of their chosen path, "is set to release poisonous gas when anyone gets halfway down the passage while those," she pointed at the two to the left "have spike traps."
"Charming." He winced, wondering if these traps were created by the Daedalus, the Labyrinth itself, or some other force. Pulling out his bow he looked at his allies "Nico, Amana, you two take point with Rachel, if anything attacks you two get first shot at it, Bianca and I will provide support with arrows." Everyone nodded, reluctantly in Rachel's case, and got into place, the mist swirling around their feet as they walked, the path becoming visible for mere moments before it was once more covered up. All along the walls as they walked were small alcoves and shelves containing gold, jewels, pottery, and beautiful weapons. The traps were so exceedingly obvious it was painful.
"There's the door." Amanda sighed in relief as the tunnel's end came into view, the never-ending fog and shining traps having been a nerve fraying experience. As Amanda reached out to open the ancient oak door Rachel's eyes widened.
"Stop!" their clear-sighted guide yelled out as Amanda leapt back and drew her daggers, the rest of them readying weapons without hesitation, their nerves all on edge. "Don't open that door," Rachel's eyes were wide as she saw what they never could "It's a trap, if you open that door then the tunnel will flood with a liquid that, if it touches this fog, will explode."
"Then how do we get out of here?" Bianca demanded, that's the only door I can see anywhere, and you did say this was the right way."
"Over here." Rachel smirked smugly as she reached out to an alcove and picked up a small crystal vase, the wall grinding as slid aside to reveal a hidden door.
"The Labyrinth is trying harder," Percy said, stepping forward and running a finger along the newly opened passage "the more time we spend here the harder the traps are becoming, the more difficult the path is to discern. It either wants to see anything within it's walls die…or it's trying to test us for something."
"A sentient murder dungeon," Bianca took his side and gave an exaggerated grimace "you just say the most pleasant things love."
"I try." He grinned, kissing her cheek, doing his best to ignore the jealous look that flashed across Rachel's face, although he did smirk at Nico's mock scowl, "Now let's move you lot, we have a lot of ground to cover." They exited out onto a dirt path, loose gravel covering the area making it almost impossible to walk silently, completely impossible in the case of the untrained Rachel.
"I hear something ahead," Amanda whispered, forcing everyone to come to a halt as they reached a fork in the path, "I can't quite make out what it is though."
Nodding he turned to Bianca and Nico "Alright guys, Bianca you go right, Nico you go left. Stick to the shadows and travel for five minutes before coming back. If either of you get in trouble, make as much noise as you can, and we'll come running." Nodding the two children of hades melted into literal shadows and became part of the tunnels themselves. Rachel would have let out a loud startled squeak if Amanda hadn't clapped a hand over the mortal girl's mouth. "Keep quite." He ordered the girl seriously "We aren't the only ones down here and most of what is down here would think of us as potential snacks." Seeing Rachel nod in frantic silence Amanda let go of her mouth.
Moving over to the wall he grunted and began climbing till he reached a stalagmite hanging from the high ceiling, lowering a rope down for the other two "We're too exposed," he hissed down to the two as they climbed up, Rachel having to be pulled and then tied to the stone spire given her lack of physical strength. Every so often a monster would walk from one of the forks and go down the other, or come the same way they had and take the fork on the right. Every monster to come from the left fork was covered in various injuries, gold dust, and blood.
"Gladiators," he scowled, putting it together from the weapons carried and the various injuries "there's a gods damned gladiator arena in this pit?"
"The glow is on the left fork." Rachel whimpered softly, wiggling uneasily against the rope that bound her to the stalagmite high above the heads of the gruesome and grinning monsters.
"Of course it is." Amanda sighed before perking up "Is that them?" glancing down the forks he saw the faint ripple of shadow that signaled the return of the two powerful demigods. The shadow ripples climbed up the wall and joined them at the stalagmites.
"Did you two learn anything?" he asked softly as they gripped the stalagmites.
"My fork led to a gladiator bunker," Bianca spoke up "they had a lot of fighters there resting before fights or after fights, sharpening weapons, and gambling about who was going to die. I followed a second tunnel which led to a big arena but the shadows inside the arena moved too much for me to risk hiding there and learning more."
"My path led to the main entrance of that arena," Nico continued without hesitation, "I also saw the Arena Master and his guests of honor. The master was some sort of giant covered in wave tattoos, sitting next to him was Thalia, Miranda showed up partway through one of the fights and the two of them left for some sort of backroom."
"Of course they're here." He sighs, still feeling sad that his friends had taken the path they had but they had made their choice just as he had made his. "Rachel, I'm guessing the glow goes down the left path?" he asked and, when she nodded, grumbled "Of course it is, the universe couldn't can't let us have a break after all. Rachel, when we get in there you stay back and stay out of the fighting, you don't have the training to handle this situation. Nico, I want you and Amanda to work on clearing a path for us, Bianca and I will take the big guy and keep the stronger ones occupied." Dropping down they set off down the path towards the arena.
-Thalia-
"Does he know why he's here?" she asked Miranda nervously, the pair of demigoddesses walking quickly down a hall to their private suite at the arena, Percy was her love, but Jason was her brother, her sweet baby brother who she had thought died long ago.
"No, I smuggled him away in his sleep." Miranda said with a shake of her head "I figured he would be more likely to believe you than me and I didn't want to risk waking all of New Rome when I still needed to make my escape." Accepting that they entered the room, her brother asleep and tied to a chair to prevent him from attacking before she could explain everything.
"What was the situation in the city?" she asked softly as she inspected her sleeping brother.
"Not favorable to him Thalia," Miranda scowled, angered at how the brother of her friend had been treated "A woman named Reyna has become a Praetor, in large part to her friendship with Lord Perseus who apparently saved her life along with her sister who is an Amazon. From what I gathered Jason has, or at least had, feelings for this Reyna but she seems to dislike him, possibly she loyal to Bianca and dislikes him due to his relation to you. He was up for Praetorship as well but when the rest of the legion learnt that their praetor wasn't fond of him many began to shun him, even if it wasn't ordered."
"Did this Praetor do anything to stop it?" Thalia growled out, her fists crackling with fury.
"She punished any who tried actually harming or robbing Jason early on but can't stop whispers or people not talking to him unless necessary. She seems to avoid showing favoritism to any." Miranda reported succinctly. Nodding, and filing away that information for later, Thalia looked at Jason as he began to stir, likely woken by their voices by him.
"Who…wha…?" he sits up groggily before his eyes snap open and he's on alert "Who are you?" the son of Jupiter demands, power and pride shining in his voice as Thalia observed, unaffected by the powerful aura.
"My name is Thalia my dear brother," she whispered softly, reaching into her jacket to pull out one of her most prized possessions, a picture of her and her baby brother with their mother before everything had gone so wrong "Thalia Grace." Jason's eyes widened at the sight and in the background Thalia heard Antaeus announce the next fight, a tag team match with one side being a cyclops and a dracaena and the other being an Empousai, likely the one she sentenced to the arena, as well as Polybotes. "I promise you Jason," she stroked his cheek tenderly "I won't let anyone break our family apart again."
