Chapter 1
Curiosity
About an hour later, Charlotte showed up.
Vanessa was pleased that the princess actually showed up. "Ah! Princess Charlotte! Thank you for joining us!"
Idiot seemed curious, but could only muster up a small, "Hi."
Charlotte insisted that they call her Charlie, for it sounded much less formal.
"Ok, Charlie," Idiot said with a bit of annoyance in her voice.
Vanessa glanced over at Idiot with an unimpressed look. Idiot returned the look with the same sort of glare. Idiot was curious about why the princess came here, but she was more interested in lounging in the breakroom by the fire pit. Vanessa, however, was wanting to know how the princess thought the redeeming thing was going to work.
"Anyway! We wanted to talk to you about your hotel idea."
"Indeed. We wish for this information," Idiot said sarcastically.
The lanky spider motioned for them to go to the break room to talk in peace.
Idiot gladly moved to the breakroom. She plumped herself on the nearest couch and stretched herself out, her tail wrapped around her leg.
"Help yourself to whatever is in the fridge, as long as it ain't someone's food," Vanessa encourages Charlie.
"So, are you going to tell us about the hotel or not?" Idiot asked, still lying on the couch.
Vanessa took a lounge chair and spread out her limbs on the arm of the chair as Charlie began to explain her hotel. "I believe that every demon deserves a second chance and can be redeemed. It hurts me to watch my people get killed each year by the exterminations. I want to change that."
Vanessa chuckles quietly to herself at the puny idea of being redeemed. "I respect your decision Charlie, but we are demons that don't relish in the idea of being redeemed."
Charlie seemed let down by this. "But, we don't mind helping. You see, we have an abundance of child sacrifices here. They can certainly help with some things. Their grubby little hands can get everywhere." Idiot seemed ecstatic about the idea of getting those fucking children out of her fucking office.
"It hurts my heart that they are forced here even though they did nothing wrong. It pains me even more that someone has been throwing them into the pit even though we aren't supposed to," Idiot lied.
Vanessa caught on real quick. "Yes. We would definitely be willing to help you with your hotel. But.. we may not be willing to be redeemed. Yet." Idiot held back her laughter with that last statement. Vanessa was smiling as well, nearly choking on her own laughter.
"So are there any residents at your hotel?" Idiot asked, almost certain that the answer would be none.
They both looked shocked when they heard Charlie's answer of 'yes'. Idiot gained her composure. "That's… nice. May I ask who?"
Idiot pulled out a bottle of wine from underneath the couch and took a huge swig. Charlie answered. "Angel Dust."
Idiot nearly choked. She recognized that name too well. Her computer would definitely confirm that. "That's a... bold choice. Anyone else?"
She poured a drink for Vanessa and took another swig from the bottle for herself. Vanessa nodded and gave Idiot a thankful glance. Charlie shook her head, indicating that no one else was at the hotel. Idiot sighed with relief. "Well. Is there any other help that you are getting for this project apart from us?"
Idiot sensed more so she took another bottle from under the couch and gave it to Vanessa just so they would be numb to the reaction. Vanessa took it and popped it open, taking a few swigs. Idiot took another swig before Charlie could answer. Charlie answered quickly. "The Radio Demon and my girlfriend, Vaggie."
Idiot went into a coughing fit (choking on the wine), falling off of the couch in the process and continued to choke as well as gagging on the floor.
"Oh god! Not fucking again!" Vanessa yelled as she helped Idiot off the floor and back onto the couch. Idiot curled up into the fetal position on the couch. Charlie seemed startled at this sudden outburst.
"Sorry about that.." Vanessa hummed calmly to Charlie.
"Y-you g-got A-A-Alastor to h-help you!?" Idiot stumbled on the words out of pure shock and fear.
Charlie nodded. Vanessa's eyes were small, so was her voice, showing her shock and surprise.
"WHY!? HE'S THE FUCKING RADIO DEMON!" Idiot yelled at the princess.
Charlie flinched backwards and shrugged her shoulders. "He said he's just doing it out of absolute boredom."
"He came here out of absolute boredom and I was here to see the shit he's done! He didn't even kill those fucking brats after he was done, so the suffering wasn't even worth it!"
Idiot seemed to calm down, but she was still upset. Vanessa reaches under her chair and pulls out another bottle of wine, passing it to Idiot. Idiot quickly took a swig determined to be absolutely wasted, needing to be numb. Idiot suddenly shuttered.
"He's not here is he? TELL ME HE'S NOT HERE!" Idiot got riled up again, jumping up on the couch ready to bolt if needed.
"Unless he followed me, no," Charlie answered surely. That didn't seem to calm Idiot down and she fucking bolted out of the breakroom.
"Well. I'll let her take care of herself and we will start at the hotel tomorrow. Thank you very much Charlie," Vanessa chirped with a smile.
Charlie had left and Vanessa began to search for Idiot. She walked around, checking the bathroom and most of the other rooms, until she heard shuffling underneath the main desk. Her heels clicked as she went around the desk and knelt down, meeting Idiot. "Shh.. he'll find you if your heels keep clacking around like that," Idiot said fearfully.
"Charlie left, Idiot. If Alastor had been with her, he's probably gone. It's alright." Vanessa was trying to be reassuring, but had never been the best at it. Idiot sighed.
"Good. I don't think I could survive a second time." Idiot got up, her tail wrapped around her leg as some sort of coping mechanism. "At least we won't have to go to that Hotel."
"Uuuuuh.. I may or may not have told Charlie we would be willing to start tomorrow.." Vanessa said nervously, afraid of Idiot's coming outburst. Idiot deadpanned for a few minutes. "No," she said with no emotion at all. She continues to deadpan while walking out of the office and on the way to the apartment buildings
Vanessa called after her. "I'll start tomorrow! You can join me when you feel you're ready!"
Idiot stopped in her tracks. "NO! Not you either! It is way too dangerous! It was stupid for us to even contact her in the first place! Not only that we could get fired if our boss finds out!" Idiot yelled at her with an emotion she realized she hadn't used in a long time.
"But… I want to get out of this sucky workplace. It would be nice to try something different. In my opinion at least. Pleaaaase??" Vanessa begged, with a good set of puppy eyes.
Idiot hated those eyes, she knew Vanessa would use them to get her way. "N-no! Not this time! Don't used those fucking eyes on me! It won't work!" Idiot turned her back on Vanessa for a few moments, but she already knew that those eyes worked.
"F-fine. We'll go to the fucking hotel. At least if I die I won't have to go back to work again," Idiot sighed.
"Yay! Thank you!" Vanessa ran up behind Idiot and embraced her.
"But only once. Never again." Idiot said adomently.
"Okay!"
Idiot broke from the embrace and went to her apartment.
"See you tomorrow," Idiot said as she opened the door.
"See you tomorrow!" Vanessa exclaimed as she dashed to her apartment to get some sleep.
