Half eaten pieces of pizza seen across paper plates. Empty plastic cups littered across a dining room table. Low tones coming from the television screen lighting up a pitch dark room. A scene that could often be found here on most nights whenever these three were to hang out. That is what he would call it anyways. The lone occupant still awake sitting close to the television screen watching the television program playing with wide eyes and occasionally throwing an air punch here and there when appropriate. As for the others? The other two occupants inside of the room that could be found cuddled up together fast asleep. Their opinion of the situation would be vastly different. Babysitting would be the answer they would give if you were to ask either one of them. Well one of them anyways. The other would simply label it as family time. Something she wished she had more of with her own family. Whether it be to sit down and eat together or even to simply sit down and watch a movie together.

Much like they usually do every single time they would come over to watch Matt while Mrs Mcginnis worked another late shift. Movie nights almost every Friday night. Countless hours of playing online video games. Even study nights took place inside of this apartment though those nights were pretty much a given. Their night jobs pretty much made this a given every single time they stepped foot inside of this residence.

But this was not the case right now. No instead a peaceful atmosphere could be seen. A little brother watching his favorite television show. His older brother holding his sleeping girlfriend close while she uses him as her own personal pillow. This sight you could find yourself walking in upon on most nights. Just like this one and none would mind. Including Matt. A little brother that the moment the ending credits come on makes him get up from the rug to stretch his arms and legs before turning to look over towards the living room couch and have whatever he is about to say die on the tip of his tongue.

Though it has only been a few short months he still couldn't believe it. His older brother. The usually busy with work and everything else older brother. Called a juvenile delinquent by many that live nearby. Whatever that means anyways is actually The Dark Knight. Is actually Batman. The Batman. The very same Batman that has saved him on more than one occasion from that weird hunter guy. The very same Batman that protects over the city every single night. The very same Batman that is hanging on his wall proudly for everyone to see. A rather awkward moment to say the least between the two brothers once it had been spotted for the first time by the older of the two. A younger brother clearly embarrassed while the older looked on with amusement. Though that wouldn't be for long. No, the very same older brother has a feeling another poster of a certain blonde haired superheroine would soon be joining that one in the distant future but they would cross that bridge when they come to it. He would always have the time to embarrass his little brother.

And speaking of older brothers as though he can sense someone watching him cracking open his eyes with a slight turn of his head through the darkness through dazed vision Terry finds his instincts to be right as he sees Matt staring straight at him with a grin. The very same smartass grin that he knew meant only one thing. That his little brother already has some kind of wise ass remark lined up for him and was just waiting for him to wake up. But he wouldn't trade him for the world. He might be a smartass. He might be a real pain in his ass now and then but he is still his younger brother. A brother that really has started to change his tune of late when it comes to his personality. Just one of the benefits of being his superhero he supposes.

Staring at his little brother's face the moment he sees Matt opening his mouth instantly Terry brings his free hand up and motions with his index finger to his lips to be silent. A silent message that is received with a nod as he sees his little brother glance down towards Melanie's sleeping form before back to him with his grin faltering slightly and he had a good feeling why. A real good feeling. He was about to ask the very same question he always asks them on these nights.

" Are you going out tonight?"

He hates it when he's right. He knew the question was coming and judging by the look on his little brother's face he already knew what the answer would be. He would never say it outloud. Godforbid if his mother or the little runt hears him say it he would never hear the end of it but the fact still remains the same. He hates seeing the look on his face. This look of disappointment. Disappointment that his brother though his superhero would need to go back to work instead of spending time with him and his mother. Truth be told he couldn't blame him. One of the major drawbacks of being Batman. Not much time to have a life outside of the cowl. Though with the thanks of Melaine that wasn't much the case.

She truly does have a way of words. Especially when dealing with the old man.

An old man that they haven't heard a single peep from all night. It might have helped that the moment they arrived here their cellphones had been accidentally turned off and might have been relocated elsewhere inside of the apartment with each of their chips taken out. A bit paranoid but they couldn't leave anything to chance. Especially when it came to the old man. If there was really an emergency he would find some way to contact them.

Such thoughts that make him smirk not catching the confused gaze in Matt's eyes from his look before it is quickly wiped away and replaced with nothing but a small smile.

" Not tonight."

An answer that brings a smile to Matt's face making Terry just return it with one of his own. It was a wonder what two little words could mean to another. Those words alone cause so much to be seen across his little brother's face. The hope in his eyes that perhaps he will have a couple more hours to spend with his older brother. Perhaps even more if their mother has any say in the matter. Though they only live a couple blocks away she always has a way with words making them spend the night over no matter what excuses they might think of.

" Really?"

Nodding his head paying a quick glance down towards Melanie's sleeping form doing his best not to wake her slowly bringing his free hand up gently Terry starts to stroke her hair.

" Yep not much to do…."

" Besides freezing our asses off that is."

This sudden movement coming from down below that makes Terry look away from Matt to look down finding Melanie scooting even closer into his chest before his free hand is taken gently into her own and once again placed where it once was across her waist. With eyes that remain closed not allowing her to see the youngest reaction in the way his eyes widen from her response.

" It can't really be that bad!?"

Instantly recoiling in shock from the way Melanie's eyes crack open to send him a glare slowly throwing his hands up in mock surrender Matt quickly sends Terry a pleading look. If there was one thing he knew about his older brother's girlfriend it was this. She could be scary at times. Beyond scary whenever something annoyed or upsets her. It was the sole reason why he follows only one rule in life. Don't mess with Melanie. Mess with his older brother? No problem. He could do that in his sleep but the same could not be said for his older brother's girlfriend.

" Right?"

Seeing the slightly frightened look across the young man's face closing her eyes taking a few moments to compose herself taking a long deep breath Melanie opens her eyes back up and looks Matt's away with an apologetic smile. She truly didn't mean to look at him like that. He didn't deserve it. Any of it. Didn't deserve for her to take out her anger and frustration out on. No, that honor belongs only to one individual. The same stupid old man that has caused them to take so many precautions just to have one night off from their dull and boring patrols of the city.

" Believe me when i say this. It's worse than sitting through a boring school lecture."

Wincing from just the thought glancing back and forth between the pair seeing although creepy identical looks across their faces a look of disbelief comes across Matt's face.

" But what about the bad guys?"

Shrugging his shoulders pulling Melanie even closer into his chest earning a content sigh from the gesture resting his head down on her shoulder a grin comes across Terry's face.

" Not much to tell. Nobody is willing to try anything now that the big scary Batman is back in town along with the beautiful and stunning Batgirl."

Ignoring the fake gag he can hear coming from his younger brother tilting his head slightly to look down towards Melanie seeing the makings of a smile feeling his hand being squeezed gently with his grin returning tenfold Terry turns his sights back towards Matt seeing nothing but a disgusted look. A look that only deepens as his face starts to turn white when he sees Terry and Melanie turning to look towards each other with their lips curling upright.

" Okay! I've gotta say it! I didn't mind it at first but you two seriously need to get a room. All this lovey dovey stuff makes me wanna hurl."

Instantly earning their attention watching in total silence their eyes shift to look back towards each other feeling a bit of dread in his stomach for what they could be possibly discussing with a simple look any thoughts that might have been coming up to the surface disappear when Matt sees Terry and Melanie looking back towards him with identical grins. These looks that don't reassure him at all. In fact a cold shiver could be felt running up and down his spine from these identical looks.

" Well if you truly feel that way we will be happy to oblige however I am rather comfortable at the moment so i'll present to you a choice. Option A is Terry and I get up from the sofa and leave the living room to you to do whatever you want. Watch television or even play video games as loud as you want. Though if we do that we'll be using your bedroom for such….activities."

Now this certainly catches his attention. From the look on his face she already knew what the answer would be. There would be no way in hell he would allow that to happen. As she expected leaving him with only one option. The option she preferred as well. It would just be a bonus that it would make his day as well.

" Since i can see how much you love that option you'll just have to go with option B. As long as you do it quietly in your room and return it before your mother sees it we'll allow you to borrow The Batman Cowl for the rest of the night."

And just like that the moment she sees Matt's eyes light up before she or Terry even has a chance to respond Melanie can't help but smirk when she sees him quickly race out of the living room before mere moments later the sound of his bedroom door closing behind him is heard echoing down the hallway.

" Huh? That was surprisingly easy."

Snapping out of his thoughts unable to help the chuckle that escapes his lips feeling her shuffling down below looking down Terry can't help but grin down towards the smirking Melanie. This smirk that turns into a smile before with a shake of her head she rests her head back down and grabs a hold of his arm holding it close to her chest as though it is a teddy bear.

" Don't think too much about it. There was a reason why I was the brains of The Royal Flush Gang."
