Chapter 3

Day 2 At The Hotel

Idiot made her decision. She's not coming back. She didn't want to work where a painful death was certain. She hoped that her friend wouldn't make her go. She told Vanessa that she wouldn't be going again the day she agreed to such an idea. She'll just stay in her apartment until her boss forces her to go work.

Vanessa understood her friend's worry and was not going to force her to go. She, however, wanted to continue to work at that place, maybe even wind up living there. She enjoyed the atmosphere of the hotel a bunch more than the office, not saying she wouldn't go back every now and again. She would not abandon her only true friend. She always had a knife or two on her, so she always felt protected.

On her second day, Vanessa chose a different outfit (black jeans, a bow tie, her boots and a white sleeveless button up shirt) that was a little less formal. She grabbed her spiked tea and left a bottle of wine at Idiot's door before heading to the hotel. The beginning of the day at the bar and helping Husk was pretty uneventful at first. Around 10, a figure walked up to the bar and asked for a strawberry flavored black coffee. Vanessa lifted her head and was surprised to see the demon that was in front of her. Alastor. The Radio Demon.

"Yessir! Right away!" Vanessa chirped with a nervous smile. She whipped around and began gathering ingredients and putting together the drink quickly and efficiently. It's a lot easier if you have 6 arms. Once she had finished, she handed Alastor his drink. She was startled when he talked to her again. "I would like to get to know you. You intrigue me. Would you like to talk for a while, dear?"

Idiot was alerted to the sound of banging at her door. She knew exactly who it was. She opened the door to let the goat demon in.

"So, uh, boss. I guess you came here due to me not coming to work this morning," Idiot said in her normal tone. She never was scared of him no matter how much he tried to be intimidating. He snorted at her as an answer.

"I heard the princess was here yesterday. You and your 'friend' were the ones who summoned her I presume," he growled

"No. Why in all of the nine circles would we do that? Especially with the stupid hotel thing she's doing," Idiot said, hoping he wouldn't catch her sarcasm. He snorted, leaning over her and puffing out his chest to make himself look bigger. Checking for any signs that she might be lying.

Idiot stood knowing that he couldn't figure it out with that small goat brain of his.

"Hmph. Well, you get your useless ass to work and make sure your 'friend' makes it to work as well." he said after straightening his back.

"Yes si-" Idiot was about to head out the door before he grabbed her arm.

"My daughter wishes to work here. When she comes I need you to show her how everything works." he said gruffly.

"I thought I was useless." Idiot said sarcastically. He stumbled for a moment.

"You're not as useless as the others. Don't get a big head about that Moron!" He said finally.

"As you wish, Aries." Idiot dashed out of her apartment and in the distance she heard him yell.

"YOU SHALL CALL ME BOSS YOU LITTLE SHIT!"

Idiot smiled. She loved teasing that asshole. It was one of the few ways she could get pay back.

Back at the hotel, Vanessa was enjoying a good conversation about interest, hobbies and past life activities with Alastor. She had warmed up to him and had begun to think of him as a friend, beginning to wonder why Idiot had thought he was so threatening. He was actually a big sweetheart and cared much for the well-being of other demons that weren't assholes. After a little more conversing with Alastor, Husk walked past and asked (more like told) Vanessa that he was heading out for a bit and that she was in charge of the bar.

After wishing Alastor a good rest of his day, Vanessa scurried over to the bar and started an order for the only other demon who would want alcohol besides herself. Angel Dust had taken a barstool and was now flirting with her while she made his drink. It was driving Vanessa mad. She was probably the shade of a tomato and she couldn't say a word without it sounding stupidly shaky. She turned to him, gave him his drink, and glared the best she could.

"What is it, babe? Am I making you mad?" Angel asked in a baby voice.

"Yes, you are and I would like it if you would stop," Vanessa answered, knowing the torment most likely would not stop.

"Nope! You're the only spider around and you're too cute to leave alone!"

Vanessa slammed her head on the counter and groaned, annoyed by Angel's antics. She suddenly felt a hand pull gently through her hair and she quickly stood rigid with a yelp. She was startled by the action, blushing beet-red all over again. Vanessa just glared at Angel as he smirked. Vanessa finished cleaning the bar so she could head to her other job, which she would probably be quitting tomorrow.

Idiot walked across the catwalk humming to herself. She was put into a better mood after his visit. She loved fucking with him. It was as easy as breaking a toddler's leg. In the distance she heard a familiar voice with the sound of rapid footsteps. A confused and fearful voice asked nobody in particular, "Shit. How did I get here?"

"Exactly, old friend. How did you get here?" Idiot asked the familiar face

"Oh fuck. I didn't see you there. Sorry, Idiot. Man, I've just had a bad day, life is falling apart, you know, the usual."

"Life? You mean death, my dear friend." Idiot said in a mockingly fancy voice. "You are in hell, you moron."

He chuckled. "Damn, you're right."

The sudden click of heels began to approach the two demons. "Idiot?"

"Oh, hello Vanessa. I'd like you to meet an old friend of mine." Idiot gestured to the demon next to her.

"Ooh. That's who you were talking to. Hello darling. What's your name?"

He looked to Idiot's friend and stretched out a hand to shake. "Oh hey 'darling'. That's one I've never gotten before. Well, my name's Eric. Nice to be acquainted with you."

"My name's Vanessa. Nice to meet you Eric. And sorry. I was just trying to be polite."

"Oh! How wonderful it is for two of my good friends to meet!" Idiot exclaimed happily. "But on the other hand, I do need to talk to you, Vanessa."

"Oh! Okay."

"Alright I'll see you around then Idiot," he said taking his leave, still unsure of his surroundings.

"Yes," Idiot said to Eric. "See you around. I assume you know where the apartments are."

Idiot led Vanessa to her apartment and gestured for her to take a seat. Vanessa sat down and watched Idiot as she closed the door behind her. Idiot grabbed two glasses and a bottle of wine. She poured Vanessa and herself a glass and and down on the chair opposite of her.

"Aries came to see me today. He wanted to know why you weren't at work. I managed to cover for you." Idiot said while tracing her claw around the rim of the glass.

"Shit. Sorry man. About work… I'm thinking about quitting this job and taking a permanent one at Hazbin Hotel," Vanessa explained meekly.

Idiot paused. She looked at her glass before taking a sip.

"Do you know what he'll do? It's something I've seen him do to many who leave this place," she said blankly.

"I haven't been here long enough to know what he'll do. Based on your tone, it's something pretty shitty, isn't it?" Vanessa stated after a few sips of her wine.

"You're a spider so it might not be too bad for you. You know with all those extra limbs," Idiot tried to reassure herself.

"Oh Satan. He's gonna tear off a limb or two of mine, isn't he?" Vanessa said, her voice quiet and shaky.

Idiot paused again.

"Yes. He'll rip off at least one. He'll let you choose which. He only does it 'cause he thinks it's fair since he 'wasted all his time and money on you,'" Idiot said.

"Okay. Makes sense. I'll tell him tomorrow to get it over with." Vanessa said meekly.

"Another thing," Idiot said. "His daughter is coming and I've been appointed to show her how everything works here."

"Okay. I wish you luck with that," Vanessa said as she finished her glass.

"Thanks," Idiot said with a small voice. "He'll give you till the afternoon for him to take the limb. Just to say goodbye to it i guess"

Idiot chuckled but it was soon stopped, her mind going blank again. Vanessa went over to her and wrapped her arms around Idiot, trying to ease her mind. Which didn't work.

"You need your rest for tomorrow. It's best that you leave," Idiot said, breaking the embrace.

"Alright. I'm sorry," Vanessa hummed quietly before getting up and heading to the door.

"This is hell. It's just how things are. It's not your fault." Idiot exclaimed.

"I know, but I feel bad just leaving you here," Vanessa mumbled.

"Don't worry. I'll visit if I can. Besides I won't be alone. I have a daughter to mentor," Idiot said in a reassuring voice. "Let's hope it's not a child."

"Let's hope. Good night gal," Vanessa said as she opened the door

"Night, gal," Idiot said, watching her leave.
