Hello everyone. As some of you may know I like writing oneshots for my friends on here. Anyway, in 2015-ish I was chatting along with ravnmoon. And I was going to write a oneshot for her birthday so I saved her wishes in my computer. I haven't chatted to her since then. So she might or might not even remember me.

Her birthday's in May so this is not written or put up the "right" date. But if you want to see this as a late birthday gift for her then you can. I guess it is. And here it is.

When I walked out into Golden Mockingbird magical forest, it was to do my favorite thing in the whole world, for the first time in years.

Even when we'd been at Hogwarts for my last couple of years there hadn't been a chance to take my shoes and socks off and just feel the earth beneath my feet and the air so calm and easy to breathe.

All on my own with the trees and the creatures

Or at least that's what I would think- the way it had always been. No people of any magical forest came as far out beneath the trees that I ever did…

But then, that day just after I had graduated from Hogwarts after everything that had happened. All of a sudden I felt like someone was watching me. I stopped in my tracks and looked around but didn't see anyone.

Enough of time had passed since after the war, I told myself, even though I barely knew how long. The whole world of ours had consisted of looking over one's shoulder and hold tightly onto one's wand to always be ready for an attack. Where you could barely say or do anything, since it might be the wrong thing.

Such as mentioning Voldemort's name- and everything else I had heard and lived stuck in Malfoys' basement for months.

At last I described the feeling what I was feeling as PTSD just like that, to have something else to think about I pulled out a piece of parchment, a bottle of ink and a feather pen of my bag. With a flick of my wand I made the parchment and the bottle fly and took the eagle feather and started noting about things that I saw.

Maybe if I took enough notes, one of these days I'd forget about everything that could but would not be around me and find the Crumple-Horned Snorkack. And I just knew it, today would be the day that I'd find something very, very special.

"Whoa. Aren't you beautiful?"

I suddenly found a group of hippogriffs, and the one closest to me almost looked like it was made of pure gold- I'd never seen one like that before.

I caught its attention and bowed to it, there were a couple of seconds, then she bowed her golden- feathered neck and I went a couple of steps closer to her to pat her neck. The hippogriff hung her head in well being when I scratched her forehead.

"I see you've met Loka."

I gasped and took a jump backwards and span around when suddenly there was a voice behind me.

"Oh. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you like that."

The boy that had been standing right behind me was tall, he had brown hair and brown eyes, despite his voice almost giving me a heart attack he looked calm and kind in some way.

"Sch." Loka- as was obviously was her name had been scared too when I jumped but the boy took a few steps closer to his friend. "Sch. It's okay. You know me. I'm not as harmful as I look. You know that, don't you?" The boy didn't have to bow, Loka went straight over to him along with some of her friends. "Hello guys… I've never seen another person here before."

"Me neither."

"Do you come out here a lot?"

"I haven't been in a while."

It wasn't a secret that our whole world had been inn a war the past few years, and I wasn't about to make it secret that I had one of them to the closest to Harry Potter- the only one who really could stop it.

But then of course, I didn't have to mention the reasons I hadn't been here as often as I had before.

As if she knew I needed something to do with myself Loka trod over to me and bent her head so I could stroke her neck.

"Loka… doesn't that mean like, crazy?..."

"In Spanish. Yeah. It does. I've been here many times and watched these guys. "This one always looked a bit wild and crazy. Just like her name is always spelt with a K and the word Loca with a C…. Sorry. I'm just talking. My name is Rolf by the way, Rolf Scamander. And, if you're wondering- Rolf comes from Rudolph which means famous wolf."

"Scamander?" I knew I had heard it before. "Where have I heard it?"

As if it shouldn't have been clear in my memory it was the name of the writer of my favorite book. Why had I suddenly forgotten all about it and thought I had heard the name before?

I had never been a person to lose my tongue before and not find any new words but I did now…

It was just that seeing the boy… Rolf look at me made everything spin in my mind.

"Newt Scamander wrote the book about magical creatures. He's my grandfather. And what's your name?"

I hadn't even realized I should have told him instead of asking about his.

"I'm Luna- Luna Lovegood."

"Hello Luna Lovegood." Rolf said with a smile, and hearing him saying my name made my stomach all tingly. "It's nice to meet you… Moon, right?"

"Nice to meet you too famous wolf." Rolf smirked. "That's a very nice name."

"Luna's nicer. Here, let me take that." The parchment and feather and bottle of ink I had had before had fallen onto the ground and the ink had spilled, Rolf moved his wand towards it quickly and the ink went back into the bottle and he took it all and then handed it to me.

"Thank you."

The silence fell in between us, for the first time in my life I had completely lost all words. And when I turned and started walking away, I couldn't find any new ones.

"Hey, Luna."

When had I ever been someone who waited for someone else to say something?

Luckily, Rolf thought of something before I did.

"Yes?"

"I just have to ask… what are you actually doing this far out in the forest all on your own?"

When had I ever been someone to be in loss of words? I had been waiting for these moments all my life and suddenly I couldn't find a single one…

"I…" I stuttered, then Loka nodded her head towards my hand and I remembered. "…For the animals. I want to study them- the crumple-horned snorkack in certain, I want to find it. Do you know what one looks like?"

"Never heard of it. But maybe if I can come with you, and we can go together, then we can help each other to find it. Some day we might even find it."

"I will find it someday."

I was on my way to turn and walk away from Rolf but something stopped me. I made my piece of parchment float in the air again and noted something but felt him looking at me all the time.

"Sure. I believe in you. Can't wait to see it, it sounds like an interesting creature."

Never ever had I felt like being too alone for this.

"Yeah… I… Ehm… I would actually like it very much if you came with me."

I felt myself blush and smiling slightly towards Rolf again and it took me a few seconds to know that he was coming with me.

"And I'd like to come."

It would take me a whole lifetime to know that anything he said would be exactly what I wanted to hear.

Random fact (I always leave at least one at the end of a chapter)

Loca does mean crazy in Spanish. (No. I do not know Spanish haha) But the hipogriff's name because I had some soda- bottles of a drink called Loka standing on the table. And there it was. I'm usually hopeless at coming up with pets' names so I went with it and came up with a story behind it.

There are some different meanings to find from the names Rudolf/ Rolf. I decided on one that sounded good.
