Prologue: Destiny in the cards
It was a quiet morning in Sendai, especially in the middle of summer and a boy with long blue hair waking up from his sleep by the sound of his alarm clock and looked at himself in the mirror and looked at his hair and tied them up into a ponytail and change into his clothes for the day which consists of a blue vest with yellow lining over a short sleeve orange shirt, military green cargo pants with a white belt, and white shoes.
He went downstairs to see his mother making breakfast. "Good morning, Nagisa~!" his mother greeted him energetically.
"Good morning, Mom…" Nagisa greeted her with less energy than his mother as he resented her.
"Don't be like that, It's the day before the school year starts up again!" His mother said but Nagisa didn't feel any love from his mother, only sadistic desires.
Nagisa left the house to go somewhere other than home. He doesn't even want to go to school because he was in E class and he was treated even worse as he was a student in class E and all the students in that class are treated like dirt by the other students and teachers.
Nagisa was walking in the streets until he bumps into a girl at his age wearing a red hakama. Nagisa quickly saw that she was picking some cards up "I'm sorry! Here, let me help you." Nagisa offered.
"Thank you, But if you touch these cards, I won't be able to read anyone's fortune." The shrine maiden said as she picked up her cards by herself quickly "Now then… Let me introduce myself. My name is Rei Kawakami and I am a shrine maiden at the Sendai Shinto temple." Rei said.
Nagisa and Rei bowed to each other showing respect "Um… can I have my fortune read?" Nagisa asks as Rei smiled a bit and took him to the shrine she lives at.
In the Shinto Shrine, Rei pulls out three tarot cards and places them in front of Nagisa "Death, Fortune, and the Fools arcana. These three represent your path meaning it will change sometime in the future." Rei said as Nagisa became curious.
"Does that mean I'll never escape my mother's control over me?" Nagisa asks.
"Not necessarily. People can escape from a cruel fate and take the destiny of their choosing." Rei said wisely as she collected the tarot cards that are in front of Nagisa.
"Then, what's going to happen?" Nagisa asks.
"I don't know. All I can say is that fate has something in store for you." Rei said
"Then, thank you for having me," Nagisa said as he bowed to her and left the shrine.
When Nagisa left, a boy with white hair came out of the temple. The boy wore his long white hair in a spiky ponytail while wearing a dark green hat and wears a green short-sleeved jacket with kanji that means "Dragon" on the arms that he wears open. Beneath his jacket, he wears a blue colored shirt with a white rim. He wears a beige cargo ankle pants with brown high-top sneakers with black laces and a light brown belt.
The boy walked up to Rei and saw that she was worried about something "You didn't tell him?" The boy asked as two others came up behind him, a man and a woman.
The man had long black hair tied up into a long ponytail and wore Chinese gauntlets on his hands and his pants were traditional Kung-fu warrior's armor pants while his shoes were also both traditional Chinese shoes but that had armor where the ankles are. The man also had tattoos in the form of roses.
The woman had purple hair and her eyes were covered by a scaly magenta blindfold and had a symbol on her forehead and she wore a magenta choker on her neck. Her clothing consists of a short black sleeveless dress with a big horizontal magenta line where her breasts are, while her arms had long black arm sleeves with metal magenta rings on the upper arms, the elbows, and the wrist. Her shoes are heel boots with magenta armor on her from the upper part of the feet to the ankle and a metal magenta ring at the thighs of the legs.
"Master, I know it's not my place. But I can tell that he is a mage although he hasn't learned how to use his magic properly." The man said as Rei looked at him with sadness in her eyes.
"I know Assassin… But I want his fate to change." Rei said with the purple-haired woman looking down to the ground.
"Uh, Hey! Today's the last day of summer break and the war doesn't officially start until the day after tomorrow. So how about We all have a water balloon fight, you know? Get some relaxation before the war." The boy said as Rei and the other two looked at each other and smiled.
"Your right, Mast- I mean, Kouta." The woman said with a smile as she ruffled his hair.
"Stop it, Rider!" Kouta laughed as The man and Rei looked at them and smiled with content.
Nagisa was lucky that he was able to slip into his house without his mother knowing. His mother was out getting something for an event that took place the day after tomorrow. Nagisa was in the kitchen making lunch until his mother came inside the house and saw Nagisa.
"Nagisa? What are you doing here?" Hiromi asked.
"Um… Well… I got bored." Nagisa lied.
"Hmm… Okay." Hiromi said as she pulled out a box, containing an old book that looks like it came from the middle ages of England.
"What's that, mom?" Nagisa asked.
"Oh it's just something I imported from England," Hiromi said as she put the book back into the box.
"Oh, okay." Nagisa simply said as he finished making his sandwich.
In the city cemetery, a girl with light green hair was standing in front of a grave and placing flowers on the gravestone "Hello, big sis." The girl said but did not hear a response "School starts tomorrow and I swear to make whoever kills you pay." The girl said as she left the graveyard and saw a thick white-haired man standing in front of her.
The man had pale skin and he had gold plated armor starting from his feet rising to his waist, at his shoulders was almost animal-like fur and beyond his snow-white hair was an icy glare that could even intimidate the gods.
The girl looked at him with a glare "I thought I told you to not follow me, Lancer." The girl said.
"Master, If I were to leave you alone you would most likely die… very quickly." Lancer said to the girl.
"What do you mean?" The girl asks.
"Well you don't seem to be all that physically fit, you seem shorter than most, and I'm fairly certain you can't fight, also-" before Lancer could say anymore, The girl shot an energy blast that was going to hit him in the face but he tilted his head to dodge.
"SHUT UP, IDIOT" she screamed, giving her many worried stares from the surrounding crowd.
"Your magic ability makes a fairy look like a master mage." Lancer finished with a blank expression.
"Oh, and you're painfully loud," Lancer said as The girl huffed and went home, Lancer hovering her and following her.
At an apartment, The girl went into her room and changed into her pajamas and went into her bed and fell asleep.
In the girl's dream, She was in a black void and saw a woman who had fair skin and short black hair with bangs that went past her brown eyes, framing her face. She also has a petite frame save for her large bust.
The girl saw her and smiled "Aguri!" The girl shouted as she ran up to her but she couldn't seem to get any closer, suddenly it became evident that her sister was gone.
"You did this. Why, Akari?" Aguri asks.
"What?" Akari asked.
"You killed me." As she says this, she almost glitches out waking Akari up. Akari saw the time and started to cry loudly as Lancer came into her room.
"Are you ill? Has someone attacked you?" Lancer asked.
"No, I'm not!" Akari yelled, "I let my sister die right in front of me!" Akari yelled as Lancer hugged her.
"It's not your fault, Master," Lancer said.
"But it is! She's dead and it's all my fault!" Akari screamed as she continued to cry her heart out and soon dashed out of the house.
It was 5:30 AM and Kouta was doing a morning jog from his cousin's temple to his favorite cafe, which was ten miles away. Kouta continued to jog until he saw Akari on a bench next to the cafe and decided to talk to her "Hey, is everything okay?" Kouta asks.
"No, I'm not," Akari said as Kouta saw tear stains on her face.
"What happened then?" Kouta asked.
"It's none of your business." Akari said as a man with black hair and dark eyes looked at her and she noticed he was looking at her with a devilish smile "You? I thought I was free from you." Akari said as Kouta looked at her confused.
"Not at all. You'll never, ever leave me behind." The man said.
"What do you mean?" Akari asks.
"It was your sister who made your life possible. But now she's dead. All because of you." The man said as Akari looked at him angrily.
"You're wrong! I define my life!" Akari shouted at the man.
"Hey, Who are you talking to?" Kouta asks, for he saw Akari talking to no one.
"Leave me alone, you phantom! Get out of my head!" Akari yelled, shooting an energy beam from her hand at the ground at nothing.
"Akari Yukimura… Is just a shadow of her sister. I am just a phantom of the past. A phantom that you are chasing. If I disappear, there will be nothing left for you to follow." The man explains as Akari keeps throwing punches at the man but they faze right through him.
"SHUT UP! DISAPPEAR! JUST DISAPPEAR! LEAVE ME ALONE!" Akari shouts out loud, getting a concerned look from both Kouta and the crowd of people that were surrounding her.
"Are you okay?" Kouta asks as Akari saw that people were staring at her.
"I'm fine!" Akari said as she started to walk away.
Nagisa wakes up at the sound of his alarm clock and starts to get ready for school. He puts on his uniform, which consists of a white buttoned-up shirt with a black tie underneath a blue vest and wore grey cargo pants.
After he eats breakfast, Nagisa leaves his house and walks towards his school. Once at school, he hiked the mountain to his classroom of Class 3-E.
