Hey! Sorry for the prolonged update, with the pandemic my school was switched to online and work has been chaotic, but I am back to posting weekly! Hope you enjoy and like always let me know what you think!
Jane and Maura found themselves downstairs after staying in each other's arms for what seemed like a lifetime.
"I don't know how to fix this Maur" Jane told Maura while taking the dish out of the oven and turning to Maura.
Maura looked sadly at Jane, "Right now we need to just be here for her and let her know that we're not mad at her. She's so worried that you especially are mad at her, you need to make sure not to come across as aggressive when talking about this." In the past Janes overly, protective parts have come across as aggressive, there was not ill intentions, just a fierce love and sense of needed to protect her family.
"I know, I know I've been really trying not to Maura I can't help that I want to protect my family." Jane said slightly annoyed.
Maura picked up on this, "I know love, I didn't mean anything by it, I'm just worried Taylor doesn't feel comfortable enough us and would rather hurt herself to get some relief. I know she's always been quiet and had a hard time communicating her feelings, but I'm concerned for her…I'm sorry Jane." Maura said rambling like she does when she gets upset.
Jane shook her head, "Don't worry love, I know you didn't mean anything by it, all we can do right now is be there for her." Jane said grabbing Maura's hand and sitting next to her at the kitchen bar.
Maura smiled and welcomed Janes embrace.
Taylor woke up dazed in confusion as to where she was. Blinking her eyes and pushing away the deep sleep from her face. She rolled out of her mother's bed and walked over to the master bathroom and stared at her reflection looking back at her. Her bruised eye and cut lip throbbed when she touched them. She sighed and left the room to make her way quietly downstairs.
Taylor noticed her mother's cooking dinner together and could hear quiet mumbles, she presumed they were about her. Taylor quietly made her way into the kitchen trying to not disrupt her mothers. They quickly took notice of her.
"Hey Tay, we made some dinner, come sit I'll get you a plate." Jane said jumping up to make a plate for her daughter.
"I'm not hungry, I just came down for some water. I'll leave you guys alone." Taylor said grabbing a bottle from the fridge and trying to avoid eye contact with her mothers.
"Come on your mom and I made great lasagna, nonnies recipe, I know you love it." Jane loving way. Taylor smiled at her mother's antics.
"Well I guess so since it's nonnies recipe and mom pretty much made it, can't forget about the last time you tried cooking.." Taylor said smiling and taking a seat at the kitchen table. Maura and Jane laughed at their daughter's humor.
"Hey! I can cook! Who do you think made the side salad?" Jane laughing and taking a seat across from Taylor placing the salad bowl on the table.
Maura laughed at her daughter and wife's back and forth play fighting. "Alright you two, let's just enjoy this meal I cooked." Maura said emphasizing the I.
Jane laughed at Maura's response, "I see how it is." Jane said lovingly. Maura smiled and took a seat next to Taylor who was already digging into her meal. Maura noticed how she winced from the cut on her lip.
"Do you want some Tylenol for the pain honey?" Maura asked full of concern.
"Yeah my lip hurts still" Taylor said looking down at her plate. Maura got up and grabbed medicine for her daughter.
Jane cleared her throat, "So Taylor, love, your mom and I are concerned about you" Jane said trying to get her daughter to open up.
"I'm fine" Taylor said quietly avoiding Janes eyes.
"We're here for you sweetie, you can come to us anytime you need to." Maura added on noticing how nervous Taylor was getting. Her leg began to bounce up and down from the conversation.
"I don't want to talk now moms" Taylor said truthfully, she was exhausted from the day.
"Ok Tay" Maura said rubbing Taylors bouncing leg in a comforting way. Jane nodded in agreement.
The rest on the meal consisted of the three family members laughing, joking with one another, and just enjoying the time together.
Later that night Jane and Maura were getting ready to sleep after an exhausting day. "I think we should bring her to a shrink Maur." Jane said pulling her cover down to join her wife in bed.
"I agree, I can ask around for a reference" Maura told Jane turning towards her in the bed.
"I want to book those girls for attacking Taylor." Jane said angrily.
"We should start by contacting the parents in the morning, believe me I want to punish those girls for hurting my Taylor, but I don't think Taylor is really able to handle something like that." Maura said to Jane understanding her partner's anger.
Jane sighed knowing Maura was right. "Yeah I know, I just want to help her Maur and I don't know if I can." Jane whispered letting the tears fall from her eyes.
Maura moved closer to Jane bringing her into a tight hug. "We just need to be here for her love, that's all we can do, I know it's hard." Maura said lovingly.
Jane stayed silent in Maura's arm, "I love you Maur."
"I love you so much Jane, I promise we will help her." Maura and Jane fell asleep that night in one another's arms.
