Mitchie's phone rang, and rang and rang again.
Her head bounced to the song blaring from her stereo. She lip synced to Panic! At the Disco's newest album.
She missed this high.
A pounding at the door brought her back down for a second. Mitchie put a couple of eye drops in her eyes and straightened her hair. She turned off her music and caught her breath.
"Yeah?" She answered to the knock on the door.
"I'm going to town. Do you want to come with me?" Steve asked his daughter.
Connie was out of town for a catering job, Steve was back to work full time. They noticed Mitchie returning to her old self so they continued on. Its been two months since she went to stay at the psych ward, she continues to go to therapy three times a week, and her meds have been renewed again.
It's also been about two months since everyone last saw her. Sander was off to a new school and Misty had been isolated from everyone. But Mitchie still showed no interest in going back. She was really dedicated to leave as soon as she could. Brown and Yale offered her summer courses which meant in May she'd be able to graduate early and leave. Leave all of this behind.
Mitchie quickly checked her phone a few messages from Caitlyn, Zane and Eric. She ignored them all before shooting her dealer a quick message to meet her down the block from her dads office.
"Sure. I need some fresh air." Mitchie answered back.
"Ill wait downstairs."
She heard his footsteps grow faint as he left her door. She quickly took out the baggie and spilled the cocaine on her mirror. She split the remaining powder into two lines and snorted the lines quickly.
The drugs made their way down her throat as she inhaled a couple of times before choking back the drip.
Her phone vibrated as her dealer sent her a thumbs up.
She grabbed her black purse, threw her hair in a quick ponytail, and slipped on her brown Uggs. Her oversized knit sweater that she got from Express went well with the black tights. She ran her mascara over her lashes before grabbing her favorite Mac lipstick. She swiped it across her lips before throwing it in her bag. She powdered under her eyes to try to conceal the black rings that were starting to reappear.
"Ready." Mitchie announced, She breathed in and out as her heart picked up pace.
She felt like she was floating. The cold air felt crisp against her dad's face, but she wouldn't notice it even if she wanted to.
"I'm going to take a few calls in the office. Do you want to hang out and organize my appointment book? I know you used to love doing that when you were younger."
"No thanks dad. I'm not ten anymore." Mitchie rolled her eyes playfully.
"Its nice to have you back." Steve commented softly.
"Its good to be back." Mitchie smirked at the double meaning behind her comment.
The drive remained a quiet one, Mitchie's knee bounced the whole way there. Steve parked his car in front of his office. Mitchie opened her door quickly.
"Hey dad, I'm going to go for a walk. Do you have any cash on you, in case I want to stop into a shop or two?"
Steve smiled as he took out his wallet, he handed Mitchie a hundred dollars. Mitchie smiled and said a quick thank you before walking towards the coffee shop.
With a quick glance over her shoulder she didnt see her dad, she took a sharp left turn into an alley way towards the public parking.
"Took you long enough. It'll cost you next time."
"Is that any way of talking to your best customer?" Mitchie smirked as she shook hands with Devin.
She and Devin met at the party, she knew right away he was a dealer by the way he carried himself. She called him out and he glared at her. Mitchie laughed at his expense. Devin did not like her. But he grew to like her like everyone else. Mitchie had a way of coming off as a bitch but really she's funny and good company. They've never really hung out but she always asks how he is. As a drug dealer no one asks how you are.
"So same dose as last time?"
"You know how i like it." Mitchie said.
Devin slipped his hands in his pocket.
"Is that all?"
"I'm cutting back." Mitchie and Devin stared at each other before laughing wickedly.
"Yeah right, coming from my best customer, that's a good one." Devin said extending his hand for a hand shake.
Mitchie shook his hand exchanging the money for the drugs.
"Pleasure doing business with you." Devin said.
"Bye dude." Mitchie said as she walked out into plain sight. She looked around before sticking her merchandise in her bag. She looked across the street at the coffee shop and saw a pair of eyes looking right at her.
Her heart stopped. Her mouth fell open.
Fuck.
