A/N: Sorry for the delay in updates, which I was hoping to get a few done after the last most recent one. But then FF had a meltdown and new chapters weren't showing up properly even if getting an email to say there was one, so hence why held off a bit.
Anyway, this next chapter of the Rod and Olivia story, just sees their relationship progressing and them spending more time with that of each other's families and some little twists too happening as well, which will make for some very interesting family connections later on in the future.

Chapter 5 –
As their relationship, slowly progressing to the next level; and it becoming a regular thing for them to spend the weekends at each other apartments; when it came to heading into Christmas, it then became a question of what they would then do, since they both wanted to spend time with their own family, as well as that of the others having gotten to over the course of being together, know quite well.
Going over to Roderick's on Friday evening, to spend the rest of the weekend there. Choosing to stay in that night, and go somewhere the next evening for dinner. The two of them sat at the small table, that Roderick had in his apartment eating that of the meal that when she had got around to his place, Olivia has cooked; talking, when Roderick's phone beeped with that of a message.
"That's probably Artie, with plans" he said, with a smile to Olivia as he placed down his cutlery and picked up his phone and unlocked. "Hmm, it is"
"So at least we have more of an idea now of what they're all doing" said Olivia, as Roderick looked to her with a nod.
"Yeah" he replied. "So Artie, says here. He and Kits will get to my Mom and Dad's place on the Sunday, as that is when Marls and Ryder will be getting here from California"
"So then Monday is Christmas Eve" said Olivia, as Roderick looked to her with a nod. "And what's happening there?"
"Artie says he and Kitty will go to his Mom and Dad's for dinner on the Sunday night and be there Monday night because you're going to be there" he replied, as Olivia gave a nod. "And I know Mikki said that she and Seb would be at my parents, for Christmas Eve, as well as Christmas Day. But for a little bit in the morning, go over to Seb's parents place to see them all there"
"And obviously Marley and Ryder will be at your Mom and Dad's the whole time" said Olivia, as Roderick nodded.
"Yeah" he replied, with a smile to her. "So what did we want to do with your family and me going there" continued Roderick, looking to her. "And also with my family and you going to mine"
"Umm, I'm not really sure, to be honest" said Olivia, with a small smile to him. "I mean obviously all your sisters and brother in-laws, as well as your niece, are going to be at your parents; and I don't want to be selfish and say you can't spend it with them"
"And I don't want you to feel as if I am making you choose between my family and your own" said Roderick, looking to her as Olivia gave a nod. "Why don't we talk with your parents and see what the plans they have are, and we take it then from there"
"Okay, yeah that sounds like a smart thing to do" she replied, with a smile to him; and the two of them continued to eat dinner and also talk about potentially what they might be doing come Christmas, later that year.

Having worked out, with Roderick's parents and also Olivia parents, what they would be doing come Christmas. Saturday evening, the two of them were sitting on the sofa in Olivia's apartment now trying to work out jointly what they would buy for those they would be seeing at Christmas.
"I think Miks will really like that" said Roderick, as he looked to Olivia's laptop computer which she had on her lap, and the open screen to the Amazon website. "It makes a lot sense with cooking smaller meals for Millie when she is able to eat more solids"
"Yeah, I mean you told me that Mikki loves to meal prep and plan in advance meals for a week, and then seeing her Pinterest, which is honestly amazingly organized" replied Olivia, with a smile to him. "I think it will be a good present for her"
"Hmm, and not one that I would have thought of at all" said Roderick, with a laugh. "I'd be just like looking at her books wanted pin boards and buying her stuff from that"
"And being told off then by Sebastian, for fuelling her book addiction" added Olivia, with a laugh as Roderick looked to her with a nod.
"Which I think Seb knows is not going to happen now, and Mikki will never stop buying books" he replied, as Olivia shook her head. "Whether that is a fiction book, or now cook books for which she is also getting quite the collection of"
"Yeah, and I seriously want to be borrowing some of them off her because they look just from the cover, that they would have amazing stuff in them" said Olivia, as Roderick gave a small laugh.
"Okay, so that covers then Kitty and Artie, Amelia and now also Mikki" said Olivia, as Roderick gave a nod. "What about Sebastian, what for him?"
"Maybe I can get Mikki to see what video games he has bought this year" replied Roderick as Olivia gave a nod. "I know there are some he might not have gotten, that I've played and found really good"
"That one where you chose the character's path, that I played a bit with you at your place one night" said Olivia, as Roderick looked to her. "That was a really good one"
"Yeah, Detroit Become Human" said Roderick, with a nod. "I'll send Mikki a message, and ask her if got it"
"And it's sort of a gift for the both of them in a way also" said Olivia, as Roderick got his phone off the table in front of them. "And the slow cooker, I'm sure it's something Seb would also possibly find useful too"
"Definitely" replied Roderick with a laugh. "Especially when it comes to cooking up the smaller meals for Millie" he continued, as he sent Mikki a text message asking her about the game. "And if Seb does have that game, Red Dead Redemption 2 came out not that long ago; and that's one I think he would definitely like, if he hasn't got it yet, since it's from the same company who make the Grand Theft Auto games"
"Okay, yeah. Well maybe you can handle Sebastian's present since you sort of know more of what you're talking about" replied Olivia with a laugh of her own, and Roderick looked to her with a smile and nod as he finished texting Mikki.
"Marley and Ryder, they're going to be the difficult ones to buy for" said Roderick, as he placed his phone down on the arm of the sofa next to him. "Since they have to take whatever get them back to California with them"
"Well I was thinking for Marley, we could find out from Mikki since she'd sort of know" said Olivia, as Roderick looked to her. "A place maybe where she could get like a massage and a facial. A day spa sort of thing"
"That would be good" said Roderick, with a smile and nod to her. "And something Marls would really like" he continued, as Olivia nodded also. "I'm sure Mikki would have to know at least a few places in San Francisco"
"Okay, I'll give Mikki a call during the week and see if she has any ideas on places that would be good" said Olivia, as Roderick gave a small sigh.
"Yeah, and Ryder that one is going to be a challenge" he said, as Olivia looked to him. "Because even though he and Marley have been married now for over a year and together for, I think it's four years or nearabout to that" he continued. "I don't really know him all that well. At least not on the same level that I know Seb and Artie, because firstly they live here obviously, and secondly because Mikki and Seb have been together what feels like forever now; and Artie being Seb's best friend first, he was sort of someone who I got to see a lot of and get to know quite well, even before he and Kitty were a couple"
"Hmm and that's got to suck not really knowing well one of your brother in-laws" said Olivia, as Roderick looked to her with a nod. "I know I'd hate it, if I didn't know Stacey or Patty as well as I do" she continued, with a sigh. "Because one is obviously the mother of my nieces; and the other one potentially going to be. It would just be weird to not sort of be involved in their lives where you don't know that much about them"
"Yeah, I sometimes wish Marls would move back here to South Carolina" said Roderick, as Olivia looked to him with a nod and small smile. "But then that would also be unfair in ways to Ryder, since his family is from California and all live there"
"And he'd be then missing them" said Olivia, as Roderick looked to her with a smile. "As I know you've said Marley has said she does with all you, when you've spoken with her"
"Yeah, it's like the worse of things" replied Roderick with a sigh. "Having a sibling over the other side of the country"
"Uh huh" said Olivia, with a nod. "Maybe text Marley and see if she has any suggestions on what to get him" she continued, as Roderick looked to her. "That's the only thing I can think of being a plausible solution for us in getting him something"
"I'll do that" said Roderick, with a nod and grabbing him phone again. "She might know of something that will be just right for him that we can get"
"Yeah" said Olivia, with a smile to him. "So that's your side done" she said, with a small laugh. "Now mine"
"Maybe we can discuss it in the morning" said Roderick, with a small laugh also, as he quickly sent a text message of to the youngest of his three older sisters. "And watch some television now, before we head to bed"
"Hmm good idea" said Olivia, with a small nod. "New day and fresh ideas"
"Definitely" replied Roderick with a nod of his own; and Olivia then closing up her laptop with the list of presents done for the Kapowski side of the family, the two of them watched some television before heading to bed and getting done tomorrow the present list for that of the Sinclair side.

Organising, finally what they would be doing come that of the Christmas holidays. Olivia had spent, Sunday over at Roderick's parents house and had dinner there with them, since Marley and Ryder had arrived that day from California; and then the next day spent the first part of Christmas Eve with her family, before then heading over to Roderick's again so they were able to spend that night again with his family, before he then spent all of Christmas Day with her family.
Having eaten, and now exchanging presents with everyone since they would not be there for the actual day of celebration; Olivia looked over to Marley with a small smile as she opened the enveloped gift they had just given her.
"I hope you don't think it's too impersonal" said Olivia, as Marley removed the gift certificate for a spa treatment at a place not too far from her in California. "Just, giving you something that you would have to take back over was proving to be a little too hard"
"No, it's perfect" replied Marley, looking to her with a smile. "Mikki went with me to this place a few times when she was living over there"
"Yeah, we kind of picked her brain on that one" said Roderick, with a laugh and looking over to his sister; as he sat with Amelia in his arms, since Mikki and Sebastian knew that he wasn't going to be there the following day. "And I think this little one is getting sleepy" he said, with a smile over to his sister and brother in law. "She's just about nodded off in my arms"
"Hmm, I'll take her upstairs and see if she will settle" replied Mikki, standing up from the armchair that she was seated on with Sebastian.
"And she dare better not wake me early again tomorrow morning" said Kitty, as Roderick passed Amelia over to Mikki; and she looked to her sister with a smile.
"I'm sure you will know this all too well soon, darling sister" said Mikki, as Kitty looked to her with a scowl.
"Kitty will probably tell Artie, he will have to do all the night time wake ups" said Marley, as Artie looked over to her with a laugh and nod.
"Yeah" replied Mikki, with a laugh also and looked to Olivia. "If I don't see you before you head home. Have a good Christmas tomorrow and we'll catch up soon"
"You too" said Olivia, with a smile to her. "And maybe we can go and do a spa thing somewhere close by here ourselves"
"Oh definitely" replied Mikki, with a laugh as Olivia gave a nod; and Mikki then quickly saying goodbye to her headed upstairs to put Amelia down for sleeping.
"So and final gift, is for you Ryder" said Roderick, taking out of the bag that he and Olivia had bought their gifts in, that of another envelope. "We weren't really sure what to buy you"
"No, that's fine" replied Ryder, as he took the envelope that Roderick was holding out to him. "My parents always said, it's the thought to get someone a gift that counts the most"
"That's exactly my sentiment too" said Eric, looking over to his youngest daughter's husband with a nod; as Ryder open up the envelope to see also that too of a gift card, but his being for The Home Depot"
"Hopefully you will be able to buy something useful from there for work maybe" said Roderick, and Ryder looked over to him with a nod.
"Actually yeah" he replied. "I need to get a Dual Differential Digital Manometer, so I'll put towards that as it's about three hundred"
"A what?" asked Artie, with a laugh as the others looked to Ryder and he gave a small laugh.
"It measures unit of pressures on different things, so for instance levels of gas and other things that I often need to test for" he replied, as Artie gave a nod.
"Yeah, we still have no idea what any of that means" said Sebastian, with a laugh and looking to his brother in law. "But then you'd have no idea if Artie were to saying something about history, or I were to talk about law"
"Or me and Dad talk about structural complexity of buildings" said Roderick, with a smile over to Ryder as he shook his head; as he phone next to him beeped, something which it had been doing for most of the night.
"I really should call Sam" he said, picking up his phone and looking to the others as he stood. "Poor guy has to put up with the twins on his own this holiday, and he's just not use to it"
"Sure, say hi to him for me" said Marley, with a smile to her husband and Ryder looked to her with a nod.
"Me too" said Mikki, and he looked to her replying "Sure" before looking to Olivia and Roderick. "If I don't see you before me and Marley head home, it was nice seeing you both again"
"You too" replied Roderick, with a nod to his brother in law who then with a smile to them both, then headed out of the living room.
"I should probably head over to my parents too" said Olivia, looking to Roderick with a smile. "Claudia and Tiffany probably won't go to bed until I'm there"
"Yeah, of course" replied Roderick, giving a nod. "I'll see you tomorrow"
"Yes" said Olivia, with a nod and looked to the others. "Thank you for allowing me to crash Christmas Eve tonight"
"Sweetheart, you weren't crashing it at all" replied Midge, with a smile to her. "You are more than welcome here any time"
"Thanks" replied Olivia, with a smile to her as she stood up.
"I'll walk you out" said Roderick, standing also and taking his girlfriend's hand, as she said her goodbyes to the others and the two of them then heading to the front door of his parent's house.
"So, you'll be at my parent's house tomorrow about ten o'clock" said Olivia, as Roderick opened the front door of his parent's house; the two of them heading over to Olivia's car.
"That's not too early is it?" he asked, as Olivia looked to him shaking her head.
"No, that time is perfect, as I'm sure my nieces will also be up very early" she replied, with a smile as Roderick gave a nod. "I'll see you in the morning"
"See you in the morning" replied Roderick, with a smile to her. "Night. Love you"
"Yeah night" she replied, kissing him to the lips. "Love you too"
Letting Olivia then unlock and open her car and getting inside it; he waited for her to drive off before then heading back into the house and upon walking in saw Sebastian and Artie both seated on the bottom steps leading to upstairs.
"So this is what it would have been like having brothers?" he asked, with a laugh. "Spy on you when you're saying bye to a girl"
"I wouldn't know" replied Artie, with a laugh of his own. "I'm an only child, remember"
"Yeah" said Roderick, with nod and looked to Sebastian. "Dylan and Jeremy, so totally didn't they"
"Oh yeah, Jere especially" replied Sebastian, with a laugh. "But he was also too really good for advice as well"
"Well now, I don't believe that for a second" said Artie, with a laugh and Sebastian looked to him with a smile and small laugh as well; and then Artie looked to Roderick. "I'm sure if you were wanting to talk though with Seb or me. We'd definitely have better wisdom to part with, then anything Jeremy ever said"
"Umm, yeah" replied Roderick, with a small chuckle and looking to the two guys who had become like brothers to him. "You don't think it's moving too fast with me and Liv, do you?"
"No, of course not" replied Artie, shaking his head. "I asked your sister to marry me, the night she moved back here" he continued, as Roderick gave a laugh and Sebastian nodded. "And that was a huge risk, being that we'd not ever lived together before that or even really spent any significant amounts of time together. I just knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Kitty"
"Yeah, I guess" said Roderick, with a nod. "Just tomorrow will be the first Christmas I don't spend with my family" he continued as they both looked to him. "And guess just wondering, if it's all too quick and that"
"Not all the much quicker than Mikki and I doing that" said Sebastian, as Roderick looked to him. "We met in March, and then every Christmas since then" he continued. "We've always done stuff with one another's family"
"Well all except one" said Artie, with a small laugh. "Because you were both massive idiots, and thought Mikki taking a job over the other side of the country and breaking up because of that, was a good idea"
"Okay yeah, shut up" said Sebastian, giving Artie that of a playful shove. "Those things, we do not mention"
"Hmm, yeah" replied Artie, with a nod and looked over to Roderick. "Maybe steer clear of asking Seb any life changing advice. Because the guy doesn't always make the best choices, clearly as we know"
"Yeah" replied Roderick, with a laugh as Sebastian glared at his best friend and brother in law.
"I'd be not to sure about his choices" said Sebastian, pointing to him and looking to Roderick. "He married Kitty"
"Oh low blow" said Artie, with a laugh as Sebastian looked to him with a nod and smile.
"Maybe I would be best of asking Jeremy for advice" replied Roderick, with a laugh and smile to his two brother in laws.
"Maybe best trying Dylan first, if you're that desperate" said Sebastian, with a laugh and the two of them headed back into the living room, to spend more of Christmas Eve together before it being Christmas Day tomorrow.

Waking up on Christmas Day morning, and having a small breakfast with his family. Roderick then made the drive to Olivia's parents house to spend the rest of the day with her and her family.
Parking his car behind that of Olivia's in the driveway, he turned off the engine and got out of his car, locking it up and then walked up to the front door, and rang the door bell to the house.
Checking the time on his watch, to make sure he wasn't too early or even too late; the front door opened and one of Olivia's older brothers looked to him with a smile.
"Hey Roderick" said Zach, who was the second brother in her family behind that of Hartley who was the oldest. "Come on in"
"Thanks" he replied, with a smile to the other male having already met him and his wife and their two children one day when they had gone around to Olivia's apartment to see her.
"Livvy is in the kitchen with Mom, Stace and Patty" said Zach, as he closed the front door and then started heading towards the living room.
"Yeah, I messaged her this morning before I left my parents house and she they were already started on the cooking" replied Roderick, as he followed Zach into the living room; where Hartley was seated on the floor with his two nieces pulling faces at them and which they were cracking up laughing about.
"And maybe now you might be able to save my children from that bone head" said Zach, with a small laugh and looking to his older brother and then to Roderick with a smile. "Since the other brother is more interested in playing his new video game upstairs in his room and is literally no help"
"What the girls love it" said Hartley, looking up to his brother with a smile before looking back to the twin girls who were his nieces and pulling another face; which the two girls cracked up laughing about.
"Yeah, I'll go and let Livvy know you're here" said Zach, with a small laugh and headed to the kitchen; and Hartley looked up to Roderick.
"How's old your niece now?" he asked, as Roderick looked to the older male who he had first met when he'd gone and spent the night at his and his girlfriend's apartment, and who also happened to be that of Sebastian's ex girlfriend from the short time when he and Mikki had not been together when she was in California; with a small smile. "Umm, she's seven months now"
"Okay cool" said Hartley, with a small nod and smile to him. "She'll understand Christmas more next year. Should have seen these two their first Christmas, they ate the wrapping paper and preferred to put the boxes on their heads"
"Talking about yourself again Harts?" asked Olivia, with a laugh as she came into the living room. "You did that this morning, put a box on your head"
"I drew a face on it" he replied, looking to his sister with a laugh as Olivia looked to him shaking her head, and went over to Roderick.
"Hi" she said, with a smile to him and quickly kissing him. "This is still okay, right?" she asked. "You being here and not being with your family for the day"
"It's fine" he replied, with a nod and smile to her. "Like you've already been reassured, my family are use to it" he continued. "And now even more so, with Kitty and Artie doing things with his family"
"Okay, yeah" said Olivia, with a small smile to him. "I just don't want you to feel as if I am taking you away from something important with your family"
"You're not" replied Roderick, with a smile to her and quickly kissing her. "It will be nice to make some memories together"
"Yeah, it will be" said Olivia, with a nod. "Lunch shouldn't be too far away"
"Whenever, is okay" he replied, with a nod. "I didn't have much at my parents for breakfast, but it was only like an hour ago I did eat"
"Okay, well let me know if you want anything before lunch is actually served" said Olivia with a smile to him. "I know where my Mom has the stash of salted pretzels"
"Will do" replied Roderick, with a smile to her also; Olivia then heading back into the kitchen and Zach returning with some snacks, he sat and talked with her two older brothers, and then with her younger brother when he came down from upstairs, until lunch was served later that day.

After having a meal together with Olivia's family; sitting up in her bedroom whilst the others also did other things, the two of them sat talking.
"I can't believe Hartley will be a dad" said Olivia, with a laugh; having heard from him and Patty over lunch, that they were expecting a child.
"Yeah, I think your parents were just a little shocked by that" replied Roderick, with a nod and Olivia looked to him with a small smile and also a nod of her own.
"Are you okay with it?" asked Olivia, looking to her boyfriend, and he looked to her perplexed by the question.
"Why wouldn't I be okay with it?" he asked, and Olivia gave a small sigh taking that of her boyfriend's hands in her.
"Because Sebastian dated Patty, and she's now dating my brother" replied Olivia. "And therefore my niece or nephew will be that of someone that use to be with your brother in law"
"Honestly, it's not an issue" said Roderick, shaking his head. "It's not like Patty has any lingering feelings now for Seb" he continued, as Olivia nodded. "And I know Seb definitely doesn't for Patty"
"Okay, I just thought maybe if that were to be something that would be a game breaker for us" said Olivia, with a small smile to him. "Then that might be it"
"I wouldn't break up with you over something so trivial as my brother in laws very short term and I'd not even call it a relationship, with your brother's now girlfriend" replied Roderick, and Olivia looked to him with a nod and smile. "Everything has worked out for the best, and I hope too that also includes you and me as well"
"Yes, it definitely includes you and me" replied Olivia with a small laugh and Roderick quickly kissed her. "Still Hartley as a dad is scary"
"Hmm, yeah" said Roderick, with a small laugh and smile to her. "Patty's going to have her work cut out for her, if today was any indication of Hartley's interesting children skills"
"Yep" replied Olivia, with a laugh of her own and nodding her head. "I dare say she will" she continued as Roderick gave a nod. "I think the only thing she's sort of disappointed about, is that she will be very pregnant at her sister's wedding"
"Hearing that" said Roderick, looking to his girlfriend. "I think that shocked me more than hearing your brother was having a baby"
"The guy Patty's sister is marrying can't be all that bad, really?" asked Olivia, as Roderick looked to her. "Can he?"
"Honestly, I didn't get to actually know the guy" replied Roderick, with a small sigh. "It was just how I saw him act towards Miks when she was in San Francisco" he continued, as Olivia looked to him. "And then also how he acted when they broke up, by doing something quite nasty"
"Nasty how?" asked Olivia, not having heard of what really had happened when Mikki and Sebastian were broken up; but rather only knew them as a couple.
"Two Christmases ago, he sent a box of stuff back with Marley" he replied, looking to his girlfriend as Olivia gave a nod. "And we all thought it was innocent enough, but he had cut up photos of her and him, burnt the eyes out of some of them and wrote really horrible things on them too"
"Wow, that's horrible" said Olivia, as Roderick gave a small nod. "But maybe too, he was hurt as well by what happened"
"Yeah, I get that" replied Roderick, with a small smile to her. "Just can I say how really glad I am that Mikki didn't end up with him"
"Of course you can" said Olivia, with a smile to him. "And honestly seeing Mikki and Sebastian together, I can't imagine them with anyone else anyway"
"No" replied Roderick, shaking his head. "And I think too looking at your brother and Patty, they're much better suited then Seb would have been with her"
"Yeah, I think Patty needs someone who is a little crazy" said Olivia with a laugh. "And she definitely gets that with Harts"
"Oh definitely" said Roderick, with a laugh as well and continued to talk with Olivia before then heading back to his parents house to spend the night.
End Note:
So the twist here is that Patty and Hartley are going to have a child together, and when Olivia and Roderick do end up also going there in their relationship. Their child is going to be cousin with that of a child who's aunt is Hannah, and who's husband is Blaine - and I don't think I need to be explaining all the weirdness in that, with how Sebastian was once with Patty and Mikki was once with Blaine, and the connection that they will have Rod and Olivia also as well will have to Mikki and Seb.
It's no wonder I had to do a family tree - just to know who is who and who connects where on everything!
The other thing, to I did touch on was how Roderick is close with Artie; and that will see in another update of a story going back in time to when Mikki was in college and him getting to know his future brother in law, at the time of it, best friend and not realizing that he would also to be a brother in law. It just however too, also touches on how none of them really ever got to know Ryder as well as that which I think also too proved an issue with Marley staying with him.
