Felicie grinned as she watched Merante and Odette dance around each other. Figuratively not literally. She would come in to clean and see Merante leaning over and whispering something to Odette, who in turn smiled at him and most of the time blushed. Felicie watched with absolute rapture as Odette would playfully nudge her elbow into his side, playfully, not at all angry.
"Please be careful on the way home, I don't want you to get hurt again." The gentle words had made Felicie smile. And Odettes, reply... god they were adorable.
"Lou… I will be fine, it's not as if I can't walk."
"Hmm, well let me know if I can help with anything."
Felicie had poked her head into the door just as Merante had taken her hands.
"Please Odette? I worry."
Odette had just shaken her head. "I know you do...I will see you tomorrow."
He had leaned down and kissed her cheek, nearly causing Felicie to faint in happiness. And Odette? She had just smiled up at him, turning around and walking out the door. Leaving Merante smiling like a complete and utter idiot. And oh how happy it had made Felicie.
…
Felicie watched as the rest of the class stepped out of the room leaving Merante and her alone.
"Monsieur?"
He looked up, giving her a nod. "Yes Felicie?"
"I...I saw you."
Merante raised an eyebrow. "You saw me… where?"
Felicie looked down. "Ahh with Odette."
She could hear his sharp intake of breath as she found the box of her shoe into the ground.
"You did. I see. And...what do you think about it?"
Felicie gave him a huge grin. "I think… OH. MY. GOD. What took you so long!"
Merante chuckled. "Well… I'm not sure. But she…"
"Have you kissed?!" Felicie squealed.
Merante scowled. "That is none of your business… and no."
Felicie giggled, dancing over to the window. "So…"
Her voice failed her as she looked at the scene in front of her. There was smoke coming from the direction of… of god no. Felicies legs failed her and she slid to the ground. Merantes voice was coming in and out of her hearing, she couldn't… oh god.
"Felicie!" Merante shook her and Felicie looked up at him. "What is it?"
"Look… outside." She gasped.
Merante got up and glanced out the window.
"Oh...Oh god no. Is that…?"
Felicie nodded and Merante cursed. "OK… come on we have to go over there. Now."
Felicie couldn't move, couldn't think and when she felt someone slowly pull her up and drag her out of the class and into the street.
"Felicie I can walk much faster if you support yourself."
She nodded again, her legs beginning to move on their own as they practically ran to the small shop. And when they got there… the bright light of the fire illuminated the whole street. Felicie sobbed looking around desperately for Odette. Merante ran a hand through his hair as Felicie fell to the ground when she couldn't see her. He slid to the ground with her, eyes not leaving where Odette was surely inside. A flash of blonde zipped across her vision and Felicie looked up, seeing her friend.
"Where is Odette!" Merante growled, his voice pitching with fear.
Camille gulped. "She's still in there."
A/N This one was much shorter but I felt it was what it needed!
