A/N: I know you have waited five chapters, but Dom is here to help now. NC
Chapter 5
Dean found the motel without any difficulties and stopped at the office so Sam could go in and get them a room. He waited in the car looking around the area for any danger. Sam was back out the door and waved him around the corner to where the rooms were branched out behind it. He made his way down a row of rooms to the last one and used the key to open the door. Dean parked in front of the room and killed the engine before getting out with bags of food and going to the trunk to get their duffels. He joined Sam at the doorway and gave the room a once over before going on in.
"Food first. Why don't you text Dom we are here and see if he wants to join us?" Dean suggested.
"Alright," Sam replied pulling out his cell and sending a text. He waited a few minutes for a reply and looked at it. "He'll be over in thirty minutes."
"Okay, that gives us time to eat then." Dean opened his container of food and found the plastic silverware to eat with. He stuck a straw in his drink and took a few sips before starting on his food.
"Looks good," Sam noted as he opened his container and arranged the napkin, plastic silverware, and drink around it in a logical order. He could not stop his OCD from coming out at times and was glad Dean did not tease him about it.
After they finished eating and tossing their trash, a knock sounded at their door. Sam went to answer it, feeling it was Dom and smiled happily as he opened the door.
"Dom, hey man, good to see you," Sam greeted him giving him a brief hug before stepping back to let him in.
"Sam, nice to see you again," Dom replied. "Dean, you're looking well."
"Hey kid. So, you picked up on this case too?" Dean answered, shaking his hand, and waving toward a chair for him to sit.
"Yes, it sounded a little strange to me and I wasn't that far away, so I thought I'd give it a look."
"We've already interviewed the suspects and got the police reports," Sam said. He put the files on the table within Dom's reach and sat his laptop on it. "I need to check out a couple of things, but I think I know what we're hunting."
"That's good," Dom told him opening one folder to read the contents.
"Okay, while you two geek out, I'm going to go grab a six pack," Dean surmised as he got up. "I won't be long."
Neither answered him as he let himself out of the room to head down the street to a convenience store for the beer. Dean knew they were both in their zone and would let him in when they had it figured out. He had seen them working together on other hunts and knew they were in sync with each other. This did not bother him because Dean knew they were too much alike and were connected by what was done to them when they were babies. He was glad Sam had someone he could relate to and get help with his powers since that was something he could not do.
When Sam had asked him about wanting to awaken his powers all those months ago, Dean was leery at first, but knew the decision could not be his. Sam was an adult and should be allowed to make his own choices in his life, whether it be wrong or not. He needed to let him have a say in his life. It was only right after all that had been taken from him to allow him to make that choice if he wanted to learn to use his powers.
After grabbing a six pack, Dean headed back to the motel, taking his time to walk the distance back. He let himself back into the room and found Sam and Dominick with their heads together, talking quietly as they studied the laptop screen.
"Good, you're back," Sam said looking up from the screen.
"And I brought drinks," Dean replied holding up the beers. "So, did you two figure this out?"
"I think so. We're looking for a siren."
"Like in Greek literature?"
Sam looked at his brother with a surprised look.
"What? I read," Dean shrugged.
"Yeah, sirens would sing out to sailors at sea and lure them to the rocks where they would wreck their ships. A siren can read a person's thoughts and become what they desire."
"Are you saying we're looking for one person and not three?"
"Yes, she poisoned each man with her venom, and they fell under her spell. They would do anything for her, even kill the people they loved," Dom added.
Dean sat out three beers as he took a seat at the table. He popped open his beer and took a long swallow before saying anything.
"How do we find this person if they can change form and be anyone?"
"We'll figure something out," Sam offered. "You know try to catch it in the act."
"How does it affect a person?"
"The internet says by song, but I think it's by bodily fluids, saliva, tears, sweat, sex."
"Good to know. Hear that Sammy, no sex with the monster."
Sam gave Dean his best bitch face before he snorted in disgust and went back to reading the article on the laptop screen.
"So, how do we kill the thing?"
"Bronze knife dipped in the recent victim's blood," Dom replied since Sam did not answer his brother.
Dom looked between the brothers knowing there was a story behind Dean's statement and wondered what it was to upset Sam the way it did.
"Sam are you okay?" Dom asked in Sam's mind.
Sam looked up quickly and saw Dean was looking in the weapon's bag for a bronze knife. He looked to Dom before replying the same way.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"Seems your brother hit a nerve. Do you want to talk about it?"
"No, not now. We need to concentrate on the case before the siren causes someone else to kill."
"Suit yourself but know you can always talk to me if you need to. Say yes to your brother."
"Yes," Sam said quickly not realizing he had tuned Dean out and did not hear the question.
"You okay Sammy?" Dean asked when he saw the startled look on Sam's face when he answered him.
"Yeah, just thinking. We've got three different locations where the siren has struck, and there's three of us. Guess we can each take a location and see if it shows up again."
"My thoughts exactly," Dean praised. "You take the park Sammy, Dom the grocery store and I'll take the drug store and shops nearby. If either of you think you've found her, text the others. She's too dangerous to take on by yourselves. We'll get some sleep and start in the morning."
"Sounds good to me. Maybe I can sense the siren and that will help," Dom offered. "I'll do some research and talk to a few contacts. I'm off guys, I'm in room 14 across the parking lot if you need me." Dom got up and finished his beer before strolling to the door. "Text me when you're up." Dom gave a nod goodbye and received a salute from him.
"I will," Sam told him with a wave as he headed out the door. Sam yawned widely as he tried to hide being tired from Dean.
"It's early but why don't you go ahead and get ready for bed?" Dean asked him, trying not to sound concerned.
"Maybe," Sam huffed wiping his face with his hand. He looked back to his brother when he got up and slipped on his jacket. "Where are you going?"
"Outside. The walls are closing in Sammy, just need a little air."
Sam watched his brother leave and knew he needed to be alone for a bit. This was not the first time he had disappeared into the night for a few hours before returning to go to bed. He knew it had to do with the time Dean spent in Purgatory and let him go. He got up and went to the bathroom to brush his teeth and change into sleep clothes. He was not really sleepy but felt more rundown than anything. Sam hoped after getting some sleep he would feel better in the morning. He needed to be one hundred percent to go up against the siren they were hunting.
A/N: The brothers have help and now they know what they are hunting. Things are going to get complicated and one brother ends up under the siren's influence. Can he be stopped from killing someone? Thanks for reading. Reviews make my day. NC
