Tails and sonic looked at the destruction left from the fight before holding up his hand and forming a yellow hexagonal prism then multiplying it, "If Infinite could do it, I can do it better."

The multiple prisms started to form and shape themselves into clones of Tails.

"Alright you guys, we need to rebuild and repair this place from top to bottom. I've got left over tools in the tornado 2. If you need anything, ask the 2 princesses. I will be working on something else." Tails said as Twilight and her friends arrived holding Metal Sonic's remains.

The clones looked at Tails then nodded to each other and got to work. While Tails took a look at Metal Sonic, "It may take some time but its possible to fix him. Sonic, you and Shadow take the emerald radar and find the 2 chaos emeralds while I repair him."

"Alright, Tails, but you stay safe." Sonic said before speeding off with Shadow grabbing the radar from out of the tornado 2 and chasing after him.

"Oh man! I forgot to give him his bracelets!" Tails said as he pulled out 2 ring shaped bracelets.

"What are those for?" Rainbow Dash asked Tails who looked seemingly panicked.

"These give Sonic some of his abilities and I meant to give it to him when I regrouped with him, but when we got ambushed, I completely forgot." Tails said with a sigh.

"I'll take it to him." She said taking the bracelets and flying off.

In the Everfree Forest

Sonic and Shadow raced through the forest at high speeds with the radar beeping slow at first then speeding up as they ran all around.

"What's the radar reading Shadow?" Sonic said causing Shadow to look down at the radar.

"It's a few miles out but still in the forest. No sign of any other emerald signatures, so we have them to ourselves. That being said, keep on your guard." Shadow responded.

"Huh? I thought you said we have them to ourselves." Sonic said jumping from tree to tree.

"Think about it, we don't know what this Metal Shadic can do, not to mention what his new allies are capable of. For all we know, they could be able to hide chaos energy signature to make them untraceable. Come to think of it…stop!" Shadow yelled as he and sonic stopped just short of the 2 other emeralds.

"What is it? You feel something?" Sonic asked looking around.

"Sonic, don't you find it odd that the radar has tracked only 2 signals?" Shadow asked.

"Well it's the 2 emeralds we are after, right? That's why we are heading this way." Sonic said getting ready to peel off.

"Sonic! Stop and think! There are 7 emeralds here…and we are only tracking 2. We have 2 in our control so that would make 4. Why aren't the other 3 emeralds being picked up?" Shadow asked.

Sonic stopped and started thinking, "Beats me. Maybe they found a way to conceal emerald power with magic. Remember, Shadic could sense emeralds naturally, right?" Sonic asked.

Shadow nodded and Sonic continued, "Then obviously they would try their hardest to hinder that. My guess is wherever the other 4 emeralds are, that's were we will find their secret hideout." Sonic said as he and shadow started walking towards the emerald signals.

"H-Help!" came a voice from ahead of them causing both hedgehogs to run towards the shout.

When they arrived, Sonic and Shadow saw a little alicorn filly start backing up against a wall as some changelings started to converge on her position.

"Let's go, Shadow!" Sonic yelled before jumping in.

"Right behind you." Shadow said before teleporting behind a changeling and roundhouse kicking it away.

The changelings all turned their attention to Sonic and Shadow who started doing what they do best.

Sonic ran circles around the surrounding area kicking up a large amount of dust blinding most of the changelings long enough for him to homing attack some that were flying around. Shadow on the other hand was appearing behind multiple changelings and kicked some away while others he shot chaos spears at them.

The dust settled, Shadow turned around and saw 2 Sonic's standing there and readied 2 chaos spears, "Great…just what I needed."

"Shadow, you know its me. Sonic." The first Sonic said.

"Shadow, don't listen to him! You know a fake when you see it." The second Sonic said.

Shadow looked between the 2 and groaned, "What a pain." Shadow said looking between the 2 Sonics and shook his head in disappointment.

"Shadow, this isn't funny. Just attack that fake!" The second Sonic said pointing the first Sonic.

"Me, the faker? You're the faker!" The first Sonic said."

"Both of you, shut up!" Shadow yelled causing both Sonics to flinch and look at him. "Honestly Sonic…what would your wife, Amy, think about this? You slipped up and made things more complicated for us to get home."

"Tell me about it. I will make it up to her. I promise, Shadow." Said the first Sonic.

"You really mean it? Swear on it right now." Shadow said as he readied a chaos spear behind his back.

"I swear on my life, Shadow. I promise to make it up to Amy." Said the first Sonic proudly and the second Sonic to go silent and smirk.

"That's all I needed to hear." Shadow said before throwing the chaos spear at the first Sonic then teleporting behind him and slamming him to the ground.

The first Sonic turned back into a changeling and laid there unconscious, "Word of advice changelings…Sonic is a bachelor." Shadow said before looking at the filly who looked scared for her life.

"Hey, its alright. You're safe now." Sonic said reassuring her causing the filly to calm down.

"What's your name?" Asked Shadow as he got close.

"My n-name is-" The filly started before being cut off.

"Cozy Glow!" Yelled Rainbow Dash who came flying in quickly and landed behind Sonic and Shadow, "You guys, back away from her. She isn't who she says she is!" Rainbow Dash yelled.

Shadow teleported to her side while Sonic looked between them, "So, she isn't on our side? That's odd." He said before standing and walking away only for Cozy to latch onto his leg and hug it tightly.

"Please! Don't leave me alone!" She pleaded causing Sonic to look at Shadow and RD, "Uh guys…a word?"

After managing to pry Cozy Glow off his leg, Sonic, Shadow, and Rainbow Dash huddle together, "This is that Cozy Glow, you gals were talking about?"

"Yeah, like we said, she is super manipulative. She can never be trusted." Rainbow Dash responded.

"Well that's the thing, I don't think she is evil. Shadow and I had to just fight off a group of changelings who were about to attack her." Sonic responded causing Rainbow Dash to look at Shadow who nodded.

"If it was a trap, then it was a failure. She didn't try to backstab us, we still have the emerald radar, and no one else showed up. If she really wanted to ambush us, then she would have done so already. There were clear opportunities for he to do it. Not to mention, no one knew you were coming here so she couldn't have held off anything. She is in the clear for now." Shadow said looking at Cozy Glow who was shaking and looking around.

"Oh yeah, what are you doing here, Dash?" Sonic asked crossing his arms.

"Tails meant to give these to you." She held out 2 bracelets. "You ran off so quick that he forgot to mention it to you."

Sonic quickly swiped them and put the on, "Sweet! The gem bracelet and my light chip, slide, and bounce bracelet. Tails, you are a life saver!"

They all looked at Cozy Glow and walked over, "Alright, we will escort you back to Canterlot but no tricks, got it?" Rainbow Dash said before sonic stopped her.

"Wait, we still need to get the emeralds first. We are close to one now. This way." Sonic said walking away and behind a tree.

There, they saw it. A giant floating ring just floating there.

"What is that?" Rainbow Dash asked starring at it.

"The special ring. Going through that, will take you the special zone…home to all the special stages. Question is…which special stage? God forbid it's the warp of confusion." He said.

"Warp of confusion?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"Yeah, that special stage was weird…imagine rolling into a ball just falling through a trippy place with fish swimming around trying to navigate a giant maze. We don't really like that one." Sonic said looking at Shadow.

"Hmph, I couldn't stop vomiting for hours." He said crossing his arms.

"Well don't worry about that. You wont be going in there anyway." Came a voice from behind.

Everyone turned around to see King Sombra with more changelings there waiting.

King Sombra looked at Cozy Glow and glared, "You…you have the nerve to not only run away…but to also join our enemies. You make me sick!" The changelings rushed in and started fighting Sonic and Shadow while King Sombra attempted to snatch Cozy Glow.

Rainbow Dash protected her as best she could, only for King Sombra to shoot a magical spear and her hooves and knock her away.

Sonic's right bracelet turned green and he started doing a tornado kick sucking in a few changelings while Shadow took off his inhibitor rings and went berserk.

Rainbow Dash got back up and saw King Sombra holding up Cozy Glow, "You're coming with me!"

Cozy screamed for help causing Rainbow dash to fly at them, only to get backhoofed into the giant ring and disappear.

"Rainbow Dash!" Sonic said as the ring was gone, RD with it.

Special Stage. Emerald Challenge!

Rainbow Dash fell on her stomach before getting up and seeing the clear chaos emerald fly above her.

Quickly, she sprung into action, chasing after it but was seeing it outrun her.

"Oh no, there is no way I'm losing to a gemstone!" She said before taking off and flying after it.

There were multi colored orbs on the ground and she looked to be in a long tube with the outside looking like a beautiful partly cloudy sky surrounding it.

When Rainbow Dash picked up the orbs, she felt herself pick up more and more speed so she collected more.

Then the tube started to curl and twist causing her to near smack against the sides of the tube and lose speed.

The emerald was fast and she only had a limited time to catch it before the special stage tube ended. It was a now or never shot and she knew what she had to do.

Rainbow Dash stopped for a second after gathering enough orbs and began to fly very fast towards the emerald.

There was little to no wind resistance in the special stage giving her an advantage like no other, "Alright chaos emerald, lets see you blow past this!"

Her element started to glow and she began to increase her speed dramatically before a loud thundering boom was heard and the emerald was gone.

In the Everfree Forest

The giant ring appeared and Rainbow Dash flew out only to see a bunch of changelings lying on the ground unconscious.

Cozy Glow was nowhere to be seen or heard.

Sonic and Shadow looked at her before passing out prompting Rainbow Dash to look at them shocked, "Guys? Are you ok?" She said before getting them onto her back.

"Ok…lets see here. We need to get out of the forest now, so you guys can some help." She closed her eyes and thought back to what Shadic said.

Rainbow Dash took a deep breath then opened her eyes, "Chaos…control!" In the blink of an eye, she disappeared.

In Canterlot

Rainbow Dash appeared in Tails' new workshop and laid Sonic and Shadow down, "Tails!"

Tails quickly turned around and saw Sonic and Shadow, "What happened?" He ran over to them

"We were ambushed by changelings and King Sombra and I was knocked into a giant ring then there was a chaos emerald then…" She said slightly panicking.

Tails stopped her then made a message to take a deep breath and calm down, "Take it easy Rainbow. Calm down then talk."

Once she was calm, Rainbow Dash began to explain to tails everything that happened from the moment she arrived to the moment she obtained the chaos emerald, "When I finally came out of the special place thingy, they just fell unconscious."

Tails walked over to them and covered them separately in a large hexagonal prism for them to rest, "They are mostly tired…I say give them some time to rest and they should be alright." Tails said as he back on making repairs on Metal Sonic.

Rainbow Dash looked at the new robot and saw he had a lot of key differences from how he looked before, "Whoa, he looks pretty cool."

"Yeah, he is designed after an old friend who once helped us." Tails responded.

Once he was finished, Tails started up the robot but nothing happened, "Huh? That's weird. Nothing happened. I'm sure I put that Shard in the right place." He said.

There was a loud yell from outside causing Tails to run out and see Metal Shadic standing there holding Fluttershy by her throat in his clutches.

"Give me the emerald you have or else she wont live to see what I do next." He said holding out his other hand.

Rainbow Dash clenched her emerald before walking over to the metallic monster.

Just before the emerald was exchanged, "BURST!" there was a rogue shot from the workshop.

Metal Shadic was flown back causing him to release Fluttershy instantly.

"Dang, all this time, and you still haven't changed a bit. You got a shiny new body, an updated system, and some fancy new abilities and this is what you use them for?" Came the robot from the workshop.

Everyone turned around to see the robot standing there with a smirk on his face, "Fortunately, you're not the only one with some new gadgets to play with."

Metal Shadic and the other robot flew at each other and headbutted each other and pushed to overpower the other, "You may have destroyed me once, but this time will be different. I've got some new tricks p my sleeve."

Metal Shadic threw a punch only for the other robot to grab his fist and pull him in and stab his chest with his claws, "ROCKET! DRILL!" The robot's claws started to drill into Metal Shadic's chest until it was stuck, "BURST!" There was a slight explosion from the claw hand shooting Metal Shadic into the air.

The robot looked around and smirked again, "LASER!" He then started zipping around Canterlot at light speed rapidly bouncing off buildings and hitting Metal Shadic.

The robot then stopped standing on the top of Canterlot castle still smirking and crossed his arms, "What's wrong tin grin? You don't remember me? Well allow me to jog your memory! ASTROID! VOID!"

Metal Shadic looked around but could see where the other robot went only to get kicked on the back.

"The name is Shard! Shard the Metal Sonic!" The robot yelled before shooting Metal Shadic on the back with a burst shot. "You tell your compatriots that if they mess with any of us, then they will feel my wrath!"

Metal Shadic hit the ground and notice that Shard had cracked and dented his body forcing him to retreat.

"That's right! You better run away! Why don't you take one for the road!" Shard yelled as he shot another burst at Metal hitting him in the back.

Tails watched as Shard lowered himself to the ground and dusted his shoulder off, "Shard! The repairs worked! I knew I wasn't crazy!"

"Of course they worked, I was just spending time with Nicole until I was absolutely needed. Speaking of, I have a link back to Mobius so don't worry about comms." Shard said looking around.

"That's a relief. Well the mission is critical Shard. Eggman managed to contact villains of this dimension, and their trying to get ahold of the chaos emeralds." Tails explained. "I built in an emerald radar into your nav systems, think you can get it?"

"Shard began to beep, "Got it. I will be on my way." He said before leaving.

"Wow, he is efficient." Said a shocked rainbow Dash, "He had some really cool chaos powers."

"Those weren't chaos powers, those were wispon abilities that I installed into him."

"Wispon?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"Where we come from, there are these alien creatures called wisps that have super cool abilities. We managed to make super cool weapons to use these abilities and they willingly helped us." Tails pointed to where shard flew, "I had wispons with me when I arrived and decided to install them into Shard."

Rainbow Dash watched as Shard disappeared into the distance with a twinkle.

In the Everfree Forest

Shard landed in the Everfree forest and looked around, "Ugh…I can smell this place and I cant even breathe."

He walked around before his sensors started to pick up the emerald signature, "Bingo. Emerald located." He started walking and found a large floating ring, "Welp…time to play 'which special stage am I getting today' for the 100th time. Hopefully, it's not the warp of confusion…no one likes the warp of confusion."

He jumped into the ring and was thrown on a circuit track.

Special Stage. Catch the UFO!

Shard started running toward a UFO that seemed to be flying away from him with the chaos emerald in claw.

There were many blue orbs and rings for him to collect.

Shard had also noticed that a timer appeared on his arm that seemed to be counting down, "Shoot! Gotta hurry up!" He said as he started running at a fraction of his top speed.

Once enough orbs were collected, he started flying at mach 2 speeds slowly catching up to the UFO but still being aware that his timer was running out.

Shard broke off to collect some rings to refill his time causing him to lose ground on the UFO now forcing him to collect more blue orbs.

"Come on! Get back here!" He pointed his arm cannon at the UFO but couldn't fire as wispons wouldn't work in the special zones.

"Alright, Shard, no more screwin around!" Shard said to himself as he collected the last of the orbs he needed, he blasted off at mach 3 speeds getting closer to the UFO until he spindashed and destroyed it entirely and nabbed the chaos emerald.

In the Everfree Forest

Shard rolled out of the ring and it disappeared leaving him there emerald in hand, "Heck yeah! Chaos emerald acquired."

Just then, there was a rustle behind him causing Shard to instantly point his cannon at the noise, "Show yourself! Or so help me, I will burst you to my dimension!"

From behind a tree, behind a bush and out of a weird looking mushroom came 3 large canines with diamond collars.

"Look at that, he got that crystal we tried to get." Said one of the canines.

Shard put his cannon away and watched as they circled around him, "Trust me dogs, you don't want what's coming to you if you attempt to take this chaos emerald from me." He told them.

The dogs looked at him before one laughed, "That's funny. Listen to that guys, the walking hunk of metal is gonna hurt us. Get him Fido!"

The dog named Fido ran and leapt at Shard ready for a fight, "That crystal is mine!"

Shard sighed and shook his head, "I warned ya." He tossed the chaos emerald high into the air and when Fido landed in front of him, Shard punched him in the gut then roundhouse kicked him into a tree. "ROCKET!" The back of Shard's arm excelled him forward into a brutal punch into Fido's back, "BURST!" Once he made contact with the punch, Shard's fist shot a burst of wispon energy shooting Fido through the tree and into another.

The emerald fell down into Shard's hand lightly as he now looked at the other 2 canines, "Not bad for a hunk of metal, eh?" Shard said cockily.

The other canines looked at each other before rushing in at the robot with the sole intent of getting the chaos emerald.

Shard smirked and threw the emerald at one of their faces, beaming him right between the eyes, "Here, CATCH!"

Neither of the dogs were able to react quick enough as the one canine was hit causing him to grab his face in pain, "AUGH! My nose!"

Shard caught the emerald then flew in and grabbed the other dog flinging him into the air before rearing his fist back.

The other dog uncovered his face to see Shard ready, "Mommy…"

"Not even she can help you. ROCKET!" Shard said as he launched up and uppercut the dog, twisting his fist by a little resulting in a tooth crack as the dog was flung back and into the ground.

Shard looked up to the other dog and backed away letting it hit the ground hard, "Owww~"

"Let this be a lesson to you mongrels, "Don't pick on someone just because you think you can. As you've seen, there is no such thing as strength in numbers." Shard said before flying off toward Canterlot.

While on his way back, Shard stopped and his LED eyes went wide before radioing an emergency signal to Tails.

2 Hours Later

Tails landed to tornado 2 with Sonic and Shadow arriving and the mane 6 joining them, "Shard! I got your emergency signal, what's going on?"

Shard said nothing and pointed toward the ocean causing Sonic, Shadow, and Tails to gasp, "Is that?"

Shard nodded, "I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't seeing things or that there wasn't a glitch in my perfect system. So, it's abundantly clear that, we are all seeing this?"

Sonic was in awe at what he was witnessing, "Tails what's going on?"

Tails hopped into the tornado and pulled out the emerald radar, "Bad news. This a massive spike in the emerald radar. This was brought here via chaos energy."

Shadow looked at the radar, "How? The emeralds are here, how did the entirety of Ocean Palace get here?"

"I'm not sure, though I am certain more zones will keep showing up soon if nothing is done about it." Tails said still looking at the radar.

Sonic turned around and gasped, "Like for instance…lets say hypothetically, Casino Park and Bingo Highway?"

Shard continued, "Or Studiopolis, or Stardust Speedway?"

"In theory, yes. Why do you ask?" Tails asked before turning around and going silent.

Behind them, were old zones from the past spread far and wide on the horizon.

Back in Canterlot 5 hours later

Tails, the royal families, the mane 6, Sonic and Shadow were in the main throne room all looking at each other, "So I have made a bit of a discovery. Old zones from our past are springing up here in Equestria and taking hold here. While these anomalies aren't dangerous and wont harm anyone, it's best to not let anyone near them until I'm finished analyzing them.

"What zones have appeared from these chaos anomalies?" Princess Celestia asked.

"So far, we have only see Ocean Palace, Casino Park, Bingo Highway, Studiopolis, and Stardust Speedway. However, there could be more that we haven't seen yet so we need to keep a lookout." Tails responded.

"Now that you mention it…Cadence and I did see something out of the ordinary on our way here." Prince Shining Armor said.

"What was it brother?" Twilight asked.

"There was a huge floating orb that seemed to be attached to a mountain we passed by." He responded.

Sonic leaned up and his eyes went wide, "Little planet…is here?! Tails!"

Tails nodded to Sonic who took off out of Canterlot, "This day is getting worse and worse by the day."

"Well at least we got 2 chaos emeralds out of it." Shard said walking in and handing a chaos emerald to Tails, "Unfortunately, I had to drop 3 mutts before I could get out with this."

Rarity looked at Shard, "Wait…3 mutts? Were they were diamond encrusted collars?"

Shard nodded, "Yep, big, ugly, and seemed to have a hard on for gems."

"You killed diamond dogs!?" She asked concerned.

"Relax, I just roughed them up a bit. I don't kill things besides other machines, besides, not like they were a threat. All I did was teach them a lesson is all. Don't get your hair in a twist." Shard responded before flying out of a window, "I will investigate Stardust Speedway, and Studiopolis."

Shadow looked at Tails, "You can leave Ocean Palace to me-" He looked down and saw Flurry Heart hugging his leg. "Let go, now."

She would budge and he tried to pry her off to no avail.

"Here, Shining Armor and I will go to Ocean Palace for you. You can stay behind, Shadow." Cadence said as her and Shining Armor started walking away before being stopped by Tails.

"Hold on, you will need to take this." Tails attached a necklace to Cadence and a bracelet to Shining Armor.

"What are these trinkets?" Shining Armor asked.

"They're communicators so we can still stay in contact from long distances without having to run or teleport all the way back. You're going to need it just in case, and so you can report back to me." Tails said as he handed communicators to the rest. "Shard has a built in comm receiver and Sonic's comms are installed into his bracelets. If you are in an emergency, flip this switch to channel 6, that's the emergency frequency and call for help, everyone will receive the emergency and head right over."

Shadow picked up Flurry Heart, "Ugh…this absolutely sucks."

Flurry Heart giggled and hugged him causing Shadow to roll his eyes.
