"Care to have a little fun" he ran his hand across the side of her waist
"Please don't.." she cringed at feeling his breath on the side of her neck
"Come on Kate, how is this supposed to become a happy marriage if I can't even touch you… make love to you" he whispered in her ear, nipping her neck and leaving a mark
"This isn't love, this is revenge" she scoffed
"It's love for me" he grabbed her hair pulling her head back
"Jim…" she placed a hand over his trying to pry him away
"Don't lie to yourself Katie, you know this could be good"
"You don't… hurt someone you love…" she looked back at him
"And you think that arse Flynn loves you, what we had was more real than what you had" he let her hand go pushing her forward her side hitting against the corner of the bench
"Yes.." she crossed her arms and turned to face him ignoring the pain in his side
"Your just using him as a rebound" he shook his head
"Believe me you were easy to get over" she spat, dropping her head seconds later when Jim's hand made contact with her cheek
"Kate I…"
"Stop!" she held her cheek giving him a sad look
"I… I'm sorry.."
"No you're not"
"Kate…"
"Why are you doing this! You're the one who cheated Jim not me, this is your fault and dragging my son…"
"He is my son too!" he snapped
"No he's not, he never was"
"And you just never let me forget that did you" he stepped towards her
"What?" she dropped her hand off her cheek
"For our entire relationship you just wouldn't get over him not being mine, he wasn't allowed to call me Dad and I wasn't allowed to teach him stuff a father would teach their son"
"So you're what putting this on me now?"
"No Kate I'm not, because it has always been you're fault you pushed me away and…"
"That's why you cheated?" she interrupted him
"And we're back to that again" he threw his hands in the air
"We never discussed it in the first place"
"No because you ran!"
"Because you got another woman Pregnant!"
"Kate…" he reached out for her
"No! Do you have any idea how it feels to have someone you thought loved you cheat and give another woman they could never give you"
"That's what this is about.."
"You knew I wanted more kids Jim"
"You told me you weren't ready, that you wanted to wait until Jai didn't need to be cradled to sleep"
"Because you made it clear how you felt about having one!" she snapped
"I would have given you one straight away if you'd told me"
"Yeah well it dosen't matter nothing would have stopped you from cheating"
"Kate…" he grabbed her arm pulling her against him
"Let me go…" she tried to push him back
"Can you honestly say you have no love for me? After two years together a love like that just dosen't fade" he moved his hand through her hair
"I've moved on" she looked up at him sadly
"With a man you barely know, a month isn't enough time to fall in love with someone"
"Yeah? It only took you a week to fall for the woman you got Pregnant"
"Is that what this is all about, so I made a mistake I admitted that but you're not the golden girl you claim to be" he tightened his grip against her waist digging his nails into her back
"Excuse me?" she tried to push him back
"Please, sleeping with Flynn is the exact same thing I did"
"If you think it is anywhere near the same thing you're extremely diluted"
"From what I remember you telling me Jai was created in a one night, drunken mistake and the guy did a runner the next morning"
"He came back…"
"Can you honestly say if you hadn't transferred we'd be in this position, Flynn would not be in your life, in Jai's life"
"Yes because no matter how much you want things to be different you still cheated"
"Maybe you're right but you can't stand here right now and tell me that some part of you still dosen't love me" he moved his hand back running his thumb across her bottom lip
"I don't…" she avoided his gaze when he began leaning his head down
"There's still love here Kate, can't you sense it?"
"I love Mike…"
"Well that's something you'll need to get over soon"
"You can't just expect me to fall out of love with someone that isn't how this works" she teared up
"I know you will do anything to protect Jai, and for some reason you'd protect Navy boy as well"
"Please…"
"I'm always going to be here Kate, the way I feel about you it's not something that will change anytime soon"
"Why can't you just except that I've moved on"
"Because love is an obsession and with you it's all I want to feel" he brushed his lips against hers in a passionate kiss;
resting her hand against his chest Kate began using all her strength to push him back a slight whimper leaving her lips when his hand around her waist dug into her back harder than before,
lifting her up he sat her on the small bench a wave of confusion rushing through his head when he felt her deepen the kiss before everything went dark.
Running along the docks Mike stopped at Hammersley when he spotted Charge standing on the boat deck
"Charge!" he called crossing the gangway
"Boss"
"I came as quickly as I could where.. where are they?" he looked around
"They?"
"2Dads he said Kate and Jai were here"
"He's mistaken it's just…"
"Daddy!" Jai yelled running out of the side hatch
"Mr Monkey!" he hugged him tight when Jai jumped into his arms
"I missed you" he wrapped his little arms around Mike's neck
"I missed you too Monkey"
"Charge coast watch spotted a boat leaving port with a woman that fits Kate's description" 2Dads moved towards them
"Kate's not here?" Mike questioned
"Boss I…"
"It's fine 2Dads" Charge held his hand up
"Kate was here, she left Jai with us and disappeared"
"Disappeared? No Kate wouldn't leave Monkey"
"Well we get the feeling she didn't have a choice Boss"
"What's going on, where's Kate?"
"Mummy's with Jim" Jai moved his head back
"She's what?"
"Look before she left.. she said to tell you Jai is your responsibility now" Charge replied nervously
"My.. No look we've had our differences, but Kate wouldn't leave Jai, she just wouldn't" he shifted Jai in his arms
"We don't know the details but from what we've gotten out of Mr Monkey here…"
"Wait, you interrogated my son?"
"No not like that we…"
"He is five, for god sakes Charge I thought you would know better"
"Boss…" 2Dads tried to interrupt
"I need to go to NAVCOM get ready to sail"
"But we're not.."
"I know that 2Dads! But I will do whatever I can to get Kate back so just.." he moved back to the gangway
"Boss we…"
"Charge just oversee and get onto any crew that's on shore"
"Sure" he nodded sadly
"I'm sorry.. I…"
"No need to apologise, you go see Maxine we'll sort things out from this side" he assured him when Mike crossed the gangway and began walking towards NAVCOM
"Daddy?" Jai fiddled with Mike's collar on his shirt
"Yes Monkey?" he tried to hold back his tears
"Where's Mummy?"
"Monkey.."
"I just want Mummy" he teared up
"I know Monkey"
"I want Mummy" he rested his head on Mike's shoulder
"I'll bring her home, I promise" he kissed the side of Jai's head,
saluting a fellow sailor as they walked past him.
Entering NAVCOM 5 minutes later Mike lifted Jai out of his arms and sat him down in a chair near the open area he moved to knell in front of him
"I need you to stay here okay" he brushed his hands through Jai's curls
"But Daddy…"
"Just for a few minutes while I go see Maxine"
"I want to come" he shifted forward
"Give me five minutes?"
"I want Mummy.." he sniffled
"I know you do but I need to see Max before I can bring her home, so can you be a brave boy and stay here for Daddy?"
"I can be brave" he nodded moving back into the chair
"That's my boy" Mike kissed his forehead and moving to stand.
Knocking on her door he cleared his throat "Mike this is a surprise" Maxine arose from her desk
"Max…" he tried to hold back the tears
"Where… where's Kate?" she looked behind him in confusion
"She.. she stopped past Hammersley.. Jai.. and…" he struggled
"Are you okay?" she placed a hand on his arm
"Hi Max" Jai smiled interrupting
"Jai?" her eyes widened
"Monkey I told you to stay out there" Mike sighed
"But I wanted lollies…" he looked at him sadly
"Jai.."
"That's okay" Maxine moved back around her desk and grabbed the jar from her draw
"Can Daddy have some?" he questioned when she poured a small amount into his hands
"I think Daddy has already had some lollies today" she placed it back in her draw
"Really?" he moved past Mike and sat in the small couch
"Max I need a favour" he cleared his throat getting back to the subject
"You want me to let Hammersley sail?" she leant her back against the bench near the window
"How…"
"Why else would you come in here"
"Max…"
"Do you know what your doing?" she crossed her arms
"This is where she belongs"
"And you really think she didn't you know.. just change her mind?"
"And give up Jai in the process? You know as much as I do how much she loves that little boy" he took a quickly glance at Jai who was trying to stick two jellybeans together
"They could be anywhere, what if we need to Hammersley out for a crash sail"
"Then send Kingston, come on Maxine I never ask you for anything this…"
"You really love her don't you?" she shifted to stand in front of him
"She's my person, her and Jai they are my family" he looked at her sadly
"You've got forty-eight hours before the BRASS begin to question why Hammersley has gone out.."
"So…"
"Go and find her, I'll look after Jai"
"Thank you!" he smiled, shifting back he stopped next to Jai
"Are you going to bring Mummy home?" he questioned when Mike knelt in front of him like earlier
"I am" he nodded
"Can you give her cuddles when you find her?" his green eyes got glassy
"The biggest one, I love you Monkey" he moved forward kissing his forehead
"I love you too Daddy" he replied when Mike arose to stand
"Forty-eight hours" Maxine reminded him
"Thank you Maxine" he smiled sadly stopping next to the door he took one last look at Jai,
taking the last step out of her office he moved quickly towards the lift almost knocking over a fellow sailor when he entered.

"How'd you go?" Charge pulled off his hat when Mike rushed towards him
"Commander White can give us forty-eight hours before the BRASS become suspicious, how's everything here?" he stopped
"We're all ready to go just waiting on…" he looked past Mike
"Charge?"
"I think you should turn around" he pointed
"What…" he turned
"Is that?"
"Kate?" Mike's eyes widened when he spotted a bloody faced Kate limping towards them
"How.."
"Kate!" he called louder this time already moving towards her
"Mike!" she teared up running towards him
"Kate what…" he hugged her tight when she jumped into his arms
"I got away…" she placed her hand on the back of his neck
"God.." he pulled his head back
"I'm okay…" she tried to assure him
"I thought…"
"I'm okay" she repeated resting her forehead against his
"What happened?" he brushed his thumb across her cheek giving her a sad look when she hissed
"I knocked him unconscious… drove the boat back to port but he.. he.. he woke up, just starting lashing out Mike I think I killed him.." she moved out of his arms to stand
"What?" he kept one arm around her waist
"He went for a gun.. I didn't even know he owned a gun it went off"
"What! Are you hurt?" he looked her up and down
"I shot him… I shot him in the gut" she dropped her head
"But are you okay?"
"I got hit in the leg but I…"
"Swain!" Mike turned waving him over
"I'm fine, it's just a flesh wound" she shook her head when Swain ran across the gangway
"Sir?" he stopped next to them
"Can you take Kate to the wardroom, check her over?"
"I'm fine" she tried to interrupt
"Come with me Ma'am" he wrapped her arm behind his neck manoeuvring them towards the boat
"Did she say what happened?" Charge questioned when Mike moved back over to him
"Get kitted up, and get a description of the boat from RO" he watched Swain carefully walking Kate across the gangway
"Boss?"
"Just do it!"
"Yes Boss" he nodded walking towards the ship,
looking down at his hands Mike's eyes widened when he noticed blood on them wiping it across his pants he took a deep breath and followed after Charge.
