In the throne room Jules was kneeling in front of Amy "My son must have been born under a lucky star to find such a treasure" "You are most definitely Sonic's father". The King walked forward "It must have been dreadful, trapped by the Forty Thieves" Jules faked a sad face "I try to block out the memories" "Say no more, I am sad to say however that we still have not discovered a cure for robotization ". Jules smiled at this "It's something I've learned to live with, but let's move on to happier thoughts, the union of our children" he hugged King Rose. Sonic and the others were watching this "Guys, it worked they love him" Shadow looked proud "It's probably the hat, I knew I made a good choice with it" "No, it's more than that. all he needed was second chance" Tails said finally warming up to the idea which Sonic appreciated.
In the palace dungeon thirty of the forty thieves were in cells yelling at Scourge "You'll pay for this!" "You traitorous hedgehog!" Scourge gave them a condescending wave before leaving and then went to Fangs office. "He's not in there. You didn't capture the King of Thieves" Fang looked calmly at the criminal "He wasn't at the hideout" Scourge was getting frustrated "He had to be there, where else would he be?". A guard then entered the office "Apologies, Captain but you told me to tell you when Sonic and the others returned" before Fang could respond Scourge grabbed the guard by the shirt "You're telling me you didn't capture Sonic either". Fang was confused "Sonic isn't part of your gang, he only went to get father" "You idiot, his father is the King of Thieves". Fang was sceptical about this claim "I don't believe you and quite frankly I have no reason to". Scourge however grinned "I can prove it because I know exactly what he's after. Or are you willing to risk letting him wonder this palace" Fang thought for a moment before giving a defeated sigh.
In the hall Amy was back in her wedding dress standing next to Blaze and the King was pacing in front of her "Oh, where could he be? Perhaps we should send out a search party" Amy put her hands on his shoulders "Come on Dad, I'm… sure, he's on his way" Blaze was getting concerned. Was she right about him? In the throne room Sonic was waiting in his prince attire with the others "Where is he?" he asked concerned "Mabey he wants to make an entrance" Silver said reassuringly "Yeah, he's your dad after all" Tails added before he noticed that Jet wasn't here either. Jet was at the door to the treasure room staring at the oracle inside while trying to pick the lock which he eventually did. Jules entered followed by Jet "Bird, after this I'm going straight" Jules reached for the oracle but ten guards walked out from behind the pillars, Jules and Jet both ran to the door only to meet a blank faced Fang "You're under arrest, Your Majesty".
Everyone was now waiting in the hall "Do you think he's alright?" Amy asked sounding concerned "I don't know. Guys can you find him?" Sonic turned to Shadow, Knuckles and Silver who all were frozen "Um, we found him" Knuckles said pointing behind Sonic and Amy. They turned to see Jules with shackles on his arm with Fang behind him, the King did not look happy "Fang, what is the meaning of this?" Fang avoided looking at Sonic as he answered "Your Majesty, this hedgehog is the King of Thieves. We found him in the treasure room about to steal the oracle". Sonic couldn't believe this "Dad… you didn't" Jules looked down at the floor not acknowledging his son "He also had an accomplice" Fang continued before one of the other guards revealed Jet "Hey guys, slight misunderstanding here" everyone was to distracted to acknowledge him.
Sonic was trying to hold back his anger "This whole time you just wanted the oracle?" he said when Amy put her hand on his shoulder "Sonic, did you know?" Sonic looked guilty "I… thought he could change". "You can change my clothes son, but you can't change me" Jules said looking regretful. "Dad, is there anything we can do?" Amy asked the King "I'm afraid not take them both to the dungeon. Jet you have done much for this city since your redemption so you will have a short sentence. As for you, Jules, you are sentenced to life". Fang dragged the both of them to the dungeons and Sonic walked away wanting to be alone "Sonic, wait" Amy said before being stopped by Blaze "Let me talk to him" "But" "Trust me, I know what he' going through". Amy knew what she meant and nodded, and Blaze went after Sonic with Silver, Shadow, Knuckles, Tails and Omega following.
Sonic was sitting in the old hideout, devastated by what happened "Hey, how are you doing?" Sonic lifted his head to see Blaze at the top of the stairs "I'm idiot, I actually thought he could change" Blaze sat next to him "Having faith in people isn't stupid, in fact it shows your better than him. Do you regret when you gave Jet a second chance? Or do you think it was stupid when the King gave you a chance?". "Never, It's just want things to go back to the way they were" Sonic answered, saying this made him know exactly what he needed to do and he would probably need the others "Guys I know you're there" his five friends came in clearly listening to the conversation "Sorry, we just wanted to make sure you were okay" Tails awkwardly said. "It's fine, I'm glad to have friends like all of you" Sonic said warmly to everyone in the room before looking very determined "I know that look, what are you going to do?" Tails asked him. "I want him back out of my life. I'm gonna break them out" "WHAT!" everyone else in the room said in unison even Omega "Sonic, you can't, do you have any idea what will happen?" Silver said frantically to his friend.
Sonic wasn't worried "Nothing will happen if they don't know I was there. Knuckles, Shadow, I need my father's clothes" the two genies knew what he was thinking and put him in an identical cloak to his fathers, Knuckles then went up to him "You'll probably also need these" he shot a blast into Sonics eyes. Blaze looked at him "I don't see anything" Knuckles looked proud "Sonic, cover your face with the cloak" Sonic did so and immediately his eyes began to glow red like he was a robot "As long as your face is covered that will continue. They won't be able tell you from your father". Blaze looked concerned about all this, but she also knew why Sonic was doing it "If Fang or the guards ask, you were right here with us when it all happened."
Jules was chained to the wall of the place dungeon looking regretful, Jet was chained on the other side of the room and the guards where apparently tired of his talking because his beak was clamped shut. Sonic was outside the cell waiting for two guards to pass "I'll feel safer knowing that the King of Thieves is behind a cell door" one of them said as Sonic pickpocketed the keys without being seen. Jules saw his cell door opening and saw his son standing at it "What are you doing" "I've come to say goodbye" he started unlocking Jules shackles "No, I can't let you-" "Forget it" Sonic then unlocked the shackles on Jet "Oh, thank Gaia, I miss my voice". Sonic put his mask on turning his eyes red which surprised Jules "How are you-" "Nevermind that, Jet you come with me and we'll lead the guards away and then you can walk straight out" he looked at his father.
Fang is in his office with two other guards "It'll be good to have some time off, I can spend some time with Whisper and the kids and-" Fang saw what he believed to be Jules and Jet the Hawk at his door "It can't be". Sonic and Jet ran out of sight, Fang and the guards rushed out of the office but saw nothing "I know he was here" Sonic and Jet were holding onto the ceiling but they both jumped on Fangs head and landed in front of him. Sonic made a mental note that he should probably send Fang an apology muffin or something later, Fang looked angry "I want him dead or alive, but he doesn't get out of the city" Sonic and Jet started running.
The two of them got into the city and used an ally to get out of sight and they had a quick breather "Sonic, listen, I'm sorry this is all my fault" Sonic was confused "What, how?". "I told your dad about the oracle, if I hadn't he might have been able to stay" Sonic normally would have been angry with Jet but everything with his father stopped him "It's not your fault, Jet, he made his choice". The two of them began climbing one of the buildings but when they reached the top Sonic was grabbed by Fang who was waiting for them. "Gotcha, surrender, I'd rather not tell Sonic I killed his father" "HEY!" Jet jumped onto the roof and used his fans to launch Fang across it, but he also tore of part of Sonic's cloak revealing his face. Fang still conscious got up "Sonic?" he pulled out a gun and he looked angry "Where is he Sonic". Sonic tried to reason with him "Fang please, he won't hurt anyone" Fang had a look on his face that Sonic hadn't seen since his days as a thief. "He led a group of thieves into this city, he attacked the palace, and my family was in the middle of it. I can't let him go now tell me-!" Jules suddenly appeared and kicked Fang in the head knocking him out "If you wanted an apology, you could have just asked". Jules then grabbed Sonic by the arm "Hurry we have to move. Oh, and also I was able to get this on my way out my feathered friend" he threw Jet his extreme gear which pleased him greatly and the three of them continued to run.
Three of them were now out of the desert, Jules and Sonic were both on horses. Sonic looked back at Shamar "I'm sorry for what you lost, but you can't go back now… Wait, what're you doing" Jules said seeing Sonic turn his horse around "I have to go back Amy's there, as well as my friends". Jet looked worried "Sonic, they saw your face, you're a criminal now" "I won't do what he did. I'm not running away". Jules walked up to his son looking offended "I've never ran from anything in my life" "You ran from your family and then when I trusted you, you ran again!". Sonic pulled out his dagger and threw it to the ground "You can have that back" "Sonic, please" Jules begged his son but Sonic ignored him and walked back to his horse "I'm your son, but I can't live your life". Jet havered next to Sonic "But they'll lock you up the moment you get their" Sonic sighed "If there's a punishment, I'll take it" Jules got on his own horse "So be it. Well Jet, are you coming?". Jet then realised what Jules had done "You have it, don't you?" Sonic then understood "You took the oracle?" "I had nothing left to lose" Sonic just stared at his father before heading back to Shamar. Jet followed him "Why are you coming back?" "It's my fault your in this mess, I can't leave you to face it alone". Sonic smiled and stopped the horse "Go with him, Jet" "What, really?". "Go find the greatest treasure in the world. Maybe when I'm out of the dungeon you can send me some" Sonic said jokingly. Jet hesitantly turned around but gave Sonic a warm smile "Good luck, Prince Sonic" he then followed Jules on his extreme gear as Sonic made his way back to Shamar.
