Best Laid Plans-Ch 4
JJ and Reid jump as the machines in Penelopes room start going crazy, they step back as several doctors and nurses run into the room, one of the nurses escorts them out into the hall and tells them that somebody will be with them as soon as possible. Reid wraps his arms around her and kisses the top of her head and said, "she's going to be okay, she's going to be okay".
A few minutes later Shannon walks out and says, "we're taking her down to the OR, we have to relieve some of that pressure before it's too late", JJ said, "what are her chances"?, Shannon said, "without this surgery about 15%". Reid said, "and with it"?, the doctor put her hand on Reids arm and said, "about 50% but if we can get the pressure to decrease hopefully the swelling will start going down".
Reid nodded his head and said, "please take care of her, she's like a sister to me and to my wife and she's our sons Godmother and we can't lose her", Shannon said, "we'll do everything we can". The worried couple stand back and watch as Penelopes hospital bed is wheeled out into the hall and heads away from them going in the direction of the OR.
After she disappeared out of sight JJ said, "we need to tell the others", Reid numbly nodded in agreement as they headed down the hall toward Dereks room to join their family. When they stepped into Dereks room Fran said, "how is Penelope"?, Reid said, "not good, they just rushed her down for emergency surgery to try to reduce the pressure".
Emily walked over to JJ and pulled her into her arms as she tearfully said, "everything was fine and then her machines started going crazy and then seconds later the room was full of doctors and nurses and then they led us out into the hall and". Emily said, "she's going to be alright Jayje, they both are" and JJ said, "we can't lose them Em, we can't lose them".
Reid looked at Fran and said, "how's Derek"?, Fran said, "no change, he's critical but stable for now", Reid said, "where are Hotch and Dave"?, Emily said, "they've gone to the police station to look at survelience camera footage of the accident". Fran took her sons hand in hers again and said, "I know you're stubborn and a fighter so I need you to be both for me now baby boy, I need you to fight too come back to me, to us, please we need you".
JJ said, "we do Morgan, we do need you and Penelope, well she needs you to" and at hearing her name his heart monitor started beeping, Fran said, "he heard you JJ, keep talking, keep talking to him". JJ said, "she's hurt bad Derek, they just rushed her down to surgery to try to relieve the pressure and swelling to her brain".
The sound of his beeping heart monitor filled the room and Fran said, "we love you son and we need you to come back to us, all of us", Emily said, "they're both going to be fine, they have to be". Meanwhile at the police station Dave and Hotch followed the officers into their data analysts office and one of the officers said, "this is SSAs Aaron Hotchner and David Rossi with the FBI and they need to see the footage from SSA Morgan and analyst Garcias accident".
The analyst nodded her head and pulled up the footage and they all stood there watching as the car came out of nowhere and t-boned the side of Dereks SUV, they watched helplessly as their car spun around several times before resting close to the pole. They then watched as the man climbed out of the car virtually unhurt ad ran away".
Dave said, "can you back this up to where we can see his face"?, the analyst said, "sure thing" and backed the footage up and then Hotch said, "freeze it right there" and she did what he asked her to do. Hotch said, "alright I need that picture sent out to everybody, we need to find him and find him and the sooner the better".
The officers looked at Hotch and nodded their heads and then turned around and headed out of the room leaving Dave and Hotch watching more footage of the accident that almost took two of their best friends away from them forever.
