"So that's how Muujiza got her name." A surprised Simba uttered.
"And who would've thought it came from Scar if all lions." Nala added.
"It was about the only good thing he did for her." Mufasa stated darkly.
"He didn't like Aunt Muujiza very much, did he?" Kion questioned.
"And the feeling was mutual on her part, even though she couldn't speak it." Simba added.
"How did you guys realize that she couldn't speak?" Kiara inquired.
"When the time came for her to start speaking, it dawned on your grandmother and I that she wasn't babbling or uttering any words." Mufasa recalled as his mind flashed back to the day that they learned that she would never be able to utter a word.
He had just returned from an afternoon patrol with Zazu when he discovered Sarabi waiting for him with a year old Muujiza in her paws. It was hard to believe she would still be a cub, when most lion cubs would be young adults by now. He smiled at the sight of his family, however he quickly noticed the worried frown on Sarabi's beautiful face.
"Sarabi, What's the matter my love?" The king of the Pridelands couldn't help but inquire.
"I'm worried about our daughter, Mufasa. I don't know how long it takes for a human to learn how to speak, but I have a feeling that she should be uttering at least a few words after a year." Sarabi explained with clear concern in her voice.
Zazu grew pale as he uttered "I'll get Rafiki."
Sometime later, Rafiki approached Pride Rock and greeted the worried looking King, Queen and their child.
With an equally worried look on his face, the Royal shaman examined the young girl. After several hours, he returned her to the ruling couple of the Pridelands and said "The child is fine, however it appears that she has learning difficulties."
"What kind of learning difficulties?" Mufasa asked with clear anxiety in his voice.
"She'll never be able to utter a word and she will have difficulty understanding jokes and social cues." Rafiki gently explained.
"Will she be able to hunt, fulfill her duties as a princess and live a normal life?" Mufasa inquired.
"She can hunt and communicate in other ways, but she will live a life somewhere between a simple one and an extraordinary one." Rafiki cryptically answered.
"How can she lend two opposing lives?" Sarabi wondered.
"The great King's have taken an interest in her, so that must mean something." The royal shaman reminded them before he assured them with "She'll be fine. As long as you give her a lot of love and patience."
With that, he left for his tree.
"When Rafiki said that she would live a simple yet extraordinary life, did he mean that she was from another world had powers alongside her disability?" Kion questioned his paternal grandfather.
Mufasa chuckled before he replied "I didn't realize it at the time, but yes I do believe that Rafiki was unknowingly referring to that."
Kiara suddenly interjected with "Grandfather I don't mean to be rude, but can you get the part when Daddy was born, please?"
Simba and Nala were scandalized at their daughter's bluntness, but Mufasa smiled as he continued the story with…
Five years later, Sarabi was now in the process of giving birth to her first cub. Even though Muujiza had been taken away, she somehow managed to get back into the cave. She had grown these past five years and she had to learn to walk like a lion. Her hair had become as wild and untamable as a rouge's mane. She always wore two bits of clothing made from Rafiki's shedding fur. One around her chest and one around her front and back bottom. As soon as she saw her mother in pain, she slowly crept towards her.
Sarabi who was normally very patient and understanding of her daughter, snapped "Go away! I'm having a baby!"
Muujiza was taken aback by her Mom's tone, but she still stayed by her side and tried to comfort her. As she began to gently stoke her head, Sarabi felt guilty for yelling at her as she replied "I'm sorry I yelled at you, but I don't want you to see this."
"Why not?" Muujiza tapped on the floor with her right hand.
"It's not something for young children too...Ah!" Sarabi started to explain before another contraction hit her.
A few seconds later, Zazu quickly flew in.
"Mufasa and I…" He began to explain, however the Majordomo quickly trailed off as soon as he spotted Muujiza.
"How?" Was all he could say, but Sarabi muttered "She managed to run from Sarafina."
The Queen of the Pridelands let out another gasp as she said "I think it's coming! Get Mufasa!"
With that, Zazu ushered a confused Muujiza outside where Mufasa was waiting. As soon as he saw his daughter, he frowned at her and said "What did I tell you about running off?"
"Not to do it? But I thought something was wrong with Mom." Muujiza tapped with her hand.
"No, she's just going to have a baby. Remember when she and I told that?" Mufasa gently explained to Muujiza.
"Yeah, but I thought you were going to look for another baby. I didn't think one would be Mom's tummy. I thought babies came from weird boxes." Muujiza tapped.
Mufasa looked as though he was caught between a rock and a hard place as he tried to find a good answer to his adopted daughter's question.
However before he could, Sarabi cried out "Mufasa! Muujiza! Come here! It's a boy!"
With that, Mufasa and Muujiza hurried back into the cave to see Sarabi with a newborn lion cub in her paws. The baby had golden brown fur and when he turned around, he had the cutest face that Muujiza had ever seen. He looked a lot like Mufasa and had the same red eyes that both of his parents had. Muujiza gently leaned over to the baby lion and gave him a kiss on the forehead. The baby lion gently placed a paw on her face and Muujiza unsure of what to do, took his little paw in her right hand and shook it.
Mufasa and Sarabi couldn't help, but laugh at their antics. Then, Sarabi said "It's so nice to see the two of you getting along so fast."
She paused for a moment before she added "I'm sorry I snapped at you earlier, I just wanted to have Simba in private."
Muujiza tilted her head in confusion as Sarabi clarified "Simba's his name and he's your new little brother. That means you're going to have to protect and look after him."
Muujiza nodded her head in agreement as she tapped "Will he think I'm dumb for not being able to talk?"
"No! He won't think that at all. None of us do, what makes you think he would?" Mufasa interjected with a concern look on his face.
Muujiza thought back to when her Uncle Scar had to watch her and she wondered how could he be her father's younger brother?
During a time when Sarabi was leading a hunt and Mufasa was on patrol with Zazu, Muujiza had to stay with Uncle Scar and he wasn't happy about it. As soon as Mufasa and Zazu had gone, Scar turned to her and muttered "I don't see why I have to watch you. You're not even a real lion anyway, you can't even talk like one."
Muujiza felt hurt at his words and tapped "I'm sorry. I'll make it up to you and try to be the best lion I can be."
Scar shook his head with a nasty smile as he said "Sorry Muujiza, you can't be a lion no matter how hard you try. You're a man cub and your kind does nothing but kill us."
"I'm sorry. I promise I won't be like that. I promise!" Muujiza pleaded through her taps.
Scar didn't look convinced as he added "I don't even think Mufasa will keep you around much longer."
"What do you mean?" Muujiza tapped in confusion.
"He's going have a real cub of his own and assuming that the cub will able to speak, he'll have no reason to keep you around anymore." Scar explained with a false look of sympathy on his face. "Besides, no one wants a sister who can't speak or is slow at learning." He added.
Muujiza tried to not cry as the ground in Scar's cave began to shook.
Muujiza refused to cry in front of Scar. She didn't know why he hated her, but she refused to give him the satisfaction of seeing her cry. She also knew that she could never tell anyone what he said to her. The lions and Zazu never fully believed her because she couldn't speak.
Muujiza suddenly heard Mufasa's voice as he asked "Muujiza? Muujiza? Are you okay?"
The young girl blinked as she returned to reality, a reality where she was safe with her family.
"I'm fine, I was in another world for a moment." Muujiza tapped in reply.
Mufasa was about to remind her that she didn't answer why would she think that Simba would hate her for being mute, when he was suddenly interrupted by Simba making a cooing noise that distracted him.
"Scar was so mean, I can't believe I thought he was cool." Simba muttered to himself in disgust, unwitting interrupting the story.
Seeing the opportunity, Kiara interjected with "Grandfather Mufasa, when did Aunt Muujiza tell you this?"
"Why didn't she tell you sooner?" Kion added.
Nala let out a sad sigh as she said "I don't know why she didn't say anything sooner. Maybe she felt that Scar could talk his way out of trouble or make it seem like she was lying. He was a very good liar."
"What caused you guys to see through him?" Kion wondered.
"I'll get to that part after I go through Simba's presentation and confronting Scar for missing it." Mufasa explained as he continued the story with…
The day of Simba's presentation was a grand affair, every animal in the pride lands had arrived, but no one was more important than Rafiki himself. Mufasa greeted him like an old friend with a hug before he led him into the cave, where Sarabi, Muujiza and baby Simba were waiting for him. Rafiki waved his stick over the young prince as Simba tried to swipe at it, then he placed a bit of sand on the baby's forehead which caused Simba to sneeze. Mufasa and Sarabi could only smile at Simba's antics while Muujiza could only giggle. Rafiki soon broke a piece of fruit in half, before he placed the juice on Simba's head. Then he scooped him into his arms as he carried him outside and presented him to the Pride lands.
As soon as he raised him into the air, all the animals began to bow down one by one as Mufasa, Sarabi and Muujiza smiled on proudly.
Mufasa left Sarabi, Muujiza behind with Simba as he went to confront his younger brother before he left, Muujiza tapped "Why didn't he show up?"
"I don't know, but I'm going to find out." Mufasa promised as he and Zazu got ready to leave.
Muujiza gave them both a worried look, but Zazu assured her with "Don't worry Muujiza, your father and I can take care of ourselves."
"Yes, we'll back be before you know it." Mufasa assured his daughter before he added "Look after your mother and Simba for me until I get back."
Muujiza nodded her head in agreement as Zazu flew off and Mufasa followed him. As Mufasa walked towards Scar's cave, he hoped that Muujiza and Simba's relationship would be much better then he and Scar had. He didn't know what had happened between them, but he still had hope that Scar would realize that his family still loved him in spite of everything that had happened. However, his thoughts were interrupted as he suddenly heard Zazu yelling "Help!"
Mufasa quickly ran into the cave and called out "Scar?"
"Umm..hmm?" Scar replied with something in his mouth.
"Drop him." The King of the Pride lands ordered.
Zazu stuck his beak out of Scar's mouth and uttered "Impeccable timing, Your majesty."
With that, Scar spat out Zazu and the majordomo landed on the ground, covered in saliva.
Scar slinked over to Mufasa as he playfully said "Why! If it isn't my big brother descending from on high to mingle with the commoners."
Mufasa still kept frowning as he replied "Sarabi, Muujiza and I didn't see you at the presentation of Simba."
Scar's voice adopted a tone of insincere guilt as he replied "That was today? I feel simply awful!"
As he finished his sentence, he scratched his claws on the walks of his cave, causing Zazu to visibly wine.
As Scar moved his paws, he added "Must've slipped my mind."
That didn't satisfy Zazu, who quickly flew in Scar's face as he added "Well as slippery as your mind is, as the King's brother, you should've been first in line."
Scar bit his teeth as the bird and as Zazu quickly flew under Mufasa's front right leg, Scar added "Well, I was first in line, until the little hairborn was born and Sarabi finding the strange defective creature from who knows where."
"That hairball and that strange creature are my children and your princess and future king respectively." Mufasa reminded his brother in a firm tone.
"Oh, I shall practice my curtsy." Scar answered in a voice filled with irony as he placed his smallest paw on his face before he turned away from his older brother and began to walk away.
"Don't turn your back on me, Scar." Mufasa warned.
"Oh no, Mufasa. Perhaps you shouldn't turn your back on me." Scar answered.
The King of the Pride lands let out a roar of anger as he charged towards his younger brother and got in his face as he snarled "Is that a challenge?!"
"Temper. Temper." Scar answered in a soothing tone as he added "I wouldn't dream of challenging you."
"Pity, why not?" Zazu questioned as he flew over to join his king.
As Scar began to leave he added "Well, as far as brains go, I've got the lion's share; but when it comes to brute strength, I'm afraid I'm at the shallow end of the gene pool."
As Scar walked off, Zazu landed on Mufasa's shoulder as he said "There's one in every family sire. Two in mine actually. And they always manage to ruin special occasions."
"What am I going to do with him?" Mufasa muttered.
"He'd make a very handsome throw rug." Zazu offered.
"Zazu!" Mufasa admonished his adviser.
"And just think, whenever he gets dirty you can take him out and beat him." Zazu added as he and his king began to head back to Pride Rock. Mufasa, in spite of himself, couldn't help but laugh at Zazu's joke. Still, he wished that Scar would be more thoughtful of others and he wondered what the future would bring for both Simba and Muujiza.
