Phoenix And Dragons: TDA

Chapter 2:

3 Months Later. Kari awoke to the sound of trumpets and the flaps of many wings. She turned her head to Piximon who was flying next to her bed with his tiny head sticking out of the window. "My, my, they got busy this year yup yup." He then turned to her as he heard her shift her wings trying to relieve herself from the aching pain of sleeping on them. "I was gonna wake ye up yup yup." She then giggled at his words always finding it funny how the tiny pixi talked.

"Good morning to you to Piximon. What's going on out there? Sounds like a party." The flying puffball turned to her with a proud smile on his tiny features.

"That ya see is ye ticket to the Digigames yup yup." He said wiping a tear from one of his eyes. "Ye kids grow up so fast heh." Kari smiled at the old Digimon before leaving for the bathroom. Okay Kari today's the day! You get to see Tai again along with getting into the Digigames with Sora and the others. She silently told herself as she bathed herself smiling as she went through the changes she experienced these past 6 months. She had gone from a timid shy girl to being best friends with the Princess of the Phoenix Kingdom. Yup today's the day!

Meanwhile Sora was having similar thoughts as she ate breakfast with her mother and Yolei. Davis and Ken had also left on a training journey two days after Tai had left on his and the rest of the castle staff had gone out to prepare for the race and direct the citizens to the stadium. Today's the day I show them all. She thought with determination as she ate her meal. She stopped when her mother and Yolei started to giggle from across the table and turned towards them in a pout knowing they were teasing her.

"Don't look at us like that honey, it's just so funny when you eat making faces like that." Her mother tried while giggling between the words and Sora felt her face start to heat up in embarrassment at the comment. Yolei snickered across the table and she shot the younger girl a glare before finishing her food and went to prepare for her day.

"I'm telling you he's coming back Yolei. He wouldn't make Kari suffer for that long." The two girls were in Sora's room putting on her scarlet armor for the race.

"Are you sure he's gonna show up today?" Yolei asked as she helped Sora dress for the race. "I mean he left you and Kari." While Sora was used to Yolei's hurtful sincerity this one comment packed a punch as Sora visibly flinched. Yolei stopped talking as she saw that her words had hurt her friend. "I'm sorry princess I should've been more considerate towards your feelings."

"No, it's fine Yolei although I would like to be alone for the rest of the morning." Yolei nodded sadly and walked slowly out of the room before closing the door. Sora then let out a sigh as she went back to getting ready. "You better be there Taichi or I'll send the guards after you." She growled to herself as the morning slowly krept on. About an hour later a knock came from the door. "Come in!" She yelled as Kari walked through the door a bright smile on her face along with her holy armor covering most of her body.

"You ready to go? The race starts in 10 minutes."
"Yeah I'm ready, let's go!" The castle was empty due to everyone else leaving to watch and prepare for the race so they decided to leave through the princess' window. The flight to the mountain felt a little too quick and easy for Sora's liking. Sure they spent the whole time talking about how long Tai's hair would have grown though the three months he was out in the wild but it felt like 10 seconds. It could be due to the training me and Kari have been doing. She wondered as they had spent time strengthening their wings by flying laps around the entire kingdom and their mobility through aerial combat. Kari must've noticed the difference as well as she stated,

"That was quicker than I thought. Hey there's the starting line, maybe Tai's there already!" She flew down so fast Sora thought she would smash into the ground as she followed after her. When they landed Sora had noticed the massive amount of Hybrids and Digimon that had decided to take part in the race. Tough competition this year. She then started looking around for the rest of her friends when Kari's shout came from behind her. She turned and saw two older boys about her age grab Kari by her wrist.

"Hey leave her alone!" She shouted as she ran towards them. The two males then turned to her and snarled. As she now had gotten a good look at them she realized they were part Sinduramon due to their yellow wings and the pedestal on their backs. The one on the right had a giant scar on his hand. The one on the left lifted his left arm and electricity buzzed between his fingers. They could shock Kari before I even attack. "Leave Kari alone or else!" The one on the right laughed before he spoke in a deep and dark tone.

"Sure, after we find out where her coward of a brother is after he burnt my hand off." He then turned to the younger girl who had also noticed the injury. "So sweetheart talk or else I'll force em out. Maybe the screams of his baby sister might give him some coura-" A shadow fell on top of him and he was soon on the ground now unconscious. The other one tried to tackle it but the shadow was too quick as it flew around and hit him in the back of his neck. Crunch! The sound of crunching leaves had brought forth the royal guards who had been put on security, they ran towards them.

"Princess, Lady Kari, are you two alright?" The lead guard had asked.
"Yes we are fine but those two men had attacked us." Sora pointed to the two unconscious boys on the ground next to the shadowy figure. After the guards dragged them away she turned to Kari concern filling her face. "Are you alright? You shouldn't listen to them, Tai would never hurt someone unless it was self defence or an enemy."

"No he did it, I saw him do it." Sora's eyes widened as she looked into her reddish-brown eyes and saw she was indeed telling the truth. "Tai was a really late bloomer when it came to digivolving when he was a rookie. You see he took so long to digivolve to champion that his body had overloaded with power and had the strength of a champion and it strained his body so much that he sometimes lost control and the way to calm him was to hear my voice as his flames still recognized me." When she finished she was shocked when Sora pulled her into a powerful hug. They stopped when a soft voice called out to them and they then turned towards the source, the shadow.

Ken sighed as he ate next to Davis who was tearing into his food like a monster. They had decided to eat breakfast in the kingdom after they had flown in from the outer Forest Kingdom the night before. "Davis, I know you want hurry up and leave before the race starts but if you keep that up then I'll have to compete on my own with the girls and Tai." He sighed yet again when his brother-like friend ignored him and swallowed his last muffin whole. "Nevermind then." He stood up ready to go with his now satisfied appetite. He spread his wings and started in the direction of the peak of Eagle Mountain, Davis following behind him.

"Come on don't be like that Ken. I mean we're gonna go and see everyone again." They flew for a few more minutes before landing at the starting line. "Okay let's go and start looking for the other we only have 10 minutes before the race." They spent the first 5 minutes looking around when they heard a shout. Davis turned around to find out where it came from when he saw one of his subordinates rushing towards a familiar someone. "Sora! Ken come on they might need our help!" The purple haired boy nodded and together they pushed threw the crowd until they came upon Sora and Kari who were looking at a shadowy cloaked person. Is he the threat? Where's Mantarou? Rationality left his mind as the shadow approached the two young women. "Leave them alone!" He shouted as he and Ken charged the figure. The figure in response jumped back and flew onto a nearby tree branch, he was about to follow it when Sora grabbed his shoulder.

"Davis calm down he helped me and Kari. It's also nice to see you again." Davis released his pose and looked up at the shadow which in turn looked down at him through his cloak. It then surprised them all when it spoke, it's voice soft and low.

"Sorry for scaring you all but I'm glad your okay Kari I will speak with you all after the race with my master." He then moved through the trees and branches like a monkey until he lept into the crowd disappearing from their sight.

"Who was that?" Ken asked. "I mean he knew Kari's name so she might know him." Sora shrugged and turned towards Kari who shook her head. Davis then looked into the crowd and wondered, This is weird where is Tai? Who was that and more importantly his master? Then the chaos began.
