Phoenix And Dragons

Chapter 4:

Previously on P&A: "Look, guys I'm sorry. I worried you both for three months and I should've told you about it beforehand." He paused taking in another breath about to continue when Sora spoke up.

"We accept your apology Tai just don't make decisions on your own again alright. You're too stupid for that." He laughed before a smirk slid up his face.

"No promises." He then let out a hearty laugh. The two girls sighed before pulling him into a hug.

"Welcome home Tai. Welcome back."

Now: "Welcome back Taichi." Queen Takenouchi smiled as he walked through the doors into the dinning hall. "How was your journey?" He took his seat between Kari and Keenan, and turned towards her and the rest of the group who had also sat down at the table.

"Well first off, everyone this is Keenan, Keenan this is Kari, Davis, Ken, Sora, and Queen Takenouchi." Everyone waved or smiled at him but Keenan's first instinct was to dive to the floor and bow to the said women's feet.

"Thank you, your majesty for allowing me to sit within your presence!" ... Everyone sweatdropped at his reaction while Tai gave off a nervous chuckle at the scene quickly picking up the bowing boy and putting him back in his seat while the queen laughed actually laughed at the scene taking place before her with the older male slapping the younger one and telling him to behave.

"It's alright Taichi, I rather enjoy it when someone respects me for once at that age she involuntary glanced at Sora when saying this who in turn mumbled out.
"It was a phase okay."
"Phase my behind Sora. You didn't listen to anyone at that age always swearing and making rude gestures at everyone other than Yolei who you used to drag everywhere." Tai watched snickering as Sora began to blush and hide her face in embarrassment. He stopped when Kari smacked his arm and started again when she recoiled from smacking the hard digital metal surrounding it. Davis and Yolei couldn't help but snicker at the scene between the two families while Ken sighed.

"Well anyway..." Tai trailed off signaling that he was going to start his story. "I had left the town for Stegomon Mountain as it was the ideal training ground for Greymon species and I thought I'd give it a try. It had been going well for a week when that 'thing' had appeared." His face twisted into a dark frown as he remembered the event. I was too weak Damnit. If only I was- He was snapped out of his thoughts when Keenan grabbed his shoulder. He looked into the younger boys eyes and came to an understanding. Tai nodded and continued his story. "Turns out someone has been pouring miasma into some of the ponds and springs along the mountain turning them into pits of Black Digitron." Everyone around him other than Keenan froze as they heard the news. "Turns out I found the source in a corrupted Entmon. Deciding that I couldn't wait for more corrupt Digimon to appear because of it I tried to attack it and I failed the first time around. The worst part was that as I fighting it I realized that you can't use physical attacks against it or else this would happen." He pulled his right arm out of his cloak and everyone other than Keenan, Kari and Sora gasped at the sight of it. The queen eyed it with disgust and concern before asking the question in the back of his mind.

"Are you okay? Will it corrupt you or anything?" He shook his head and pointed to Kari.

"Even Kari's amazing healing powers won't work on me, though as of this moment nothing different has happened to me. Anyway after this first loss I met Keenan who had been living on that mountain for 2 years training and hiding in fear. You see Keenan has a special ability when it comes to digivolving, he can dedigivolve and digivolve into the other levels." Their stares went from his arm to Keenan in a flash wondering what he had meant. Though Ken was the one to voice it.

"What do you mean Tai? Are you saying that he can go between Champion and Ultimate at the same time, because if so how?" This discovery had intrigued him and he wanted to learn more about this mysterious child and Tai was his answer to that.

"Well Ken to answer your question yes he can alternate between his Champion, Ultimate, and Mega levels respectfully and for your other question, I don't know how he just does it. Although that came in handy when we fought the Entmon again as Keenan digivolved into Ravemon and kept zapping him with his attacks which worked well with my fire ones until it died. Then after 2 months we came upon the true terror of the miasma, a Myotismon. He was different than others though, he had an aura of power giving me unease just by looking at him like his mere presence was the scariest thing in the world. Though that wasn't the worst part of it, he was looking for a Gatomon hybrid under the name of Hikari." He watched as the girl in question had shuddered at hearing the news and mentally smiled when he saw Sora try to comfort her. At least they had each other. "When I heard that I attacked without thinking and had gotten the drop on him. Though when Keenan came and joined me it was too late as he had strength stronger than even MetalEtemon. He threw us around like ragdolls until he felt bored and dropped us off the mountain, literally. After that we trained harder than ever and kept on the lookout or that Myotismon who I'm sure doesn't know what you look like as he doesn't know you've Digivolved into an Angewomon." They all nodded as he sat down finishing his tale.

"Sounds like the nightmare Kingdom's making their move and it sounds like miss Hikari over here is a key part of their plan as, if I remember correctly, they sent bounty hunters after her and Sora." The Queen inquired showing that she was more intelligent than she let on. "If that's the case then I don't think it will be a good idea to have you two shown off to the entire continent at the Digigames. We don't want them finding you two and pulling something." Ken and Yolei nodded agreeing with the idea as they didn't want to see their friends captured or anything. But to theirs and the Queen's horror Tai and Davis had an idea.

"Your majesty please don't kill me because of this but maybe letting them in the Digigames would be a great idea." Tai felt the pressure of the Queen's glare go right through his head and quickened his speech. "If they were really that desperate then they would try to pull something, only they won't be prepared for the combined might of the three kingdoms armies and us. We could use them as a lure and catch the fish behind this." Mixed expressions flew around the room from Davis and Sora agreeing to Kari and Yolei's looks of scepticism, and the Queen's (literal) burning rage. Tai looked into the glaring brown eyes and stared right back with only sincerity and love in his showing her his feelings on the matter. Eventually after a minute she calmed down and slowly nodded her head.

"Alright, but if one hair on their heads is gone by the end of this and your back in the dungeon. Understand Taichi?" He quickly nodded as he was excused from dinner thinking of ways to avoid her wrath when it came.

1 Week Later at the Digigames. Kari marveled at the crowd before her. Two thirds of the entire Phoenix Kingdom was here to watch her participate in the Digigames. They had all traveled to the giant stadium at the center of the Server Continent standing in the giant grassland surrounding it and all Kari could see was three crowds of Digimon. Plant/Insect, Dragon/Dinosaur, and Bird/Fairy Digimon, and Kari couldn't believe that she was witnessing all of them in the same area at the same time.

"Hey Kari over here!" She turned to see Davis waving her over with Ken, Tai, and Keenan setting up some kind of tent. Wait. She walked over and her fears had indeed come true. She could see her stuff laid out across a sleeping bag next to the tent like everyone else's around them.

"Wait we're sleeping here?" She asked as she reached him. He nodded and pointed to a group of Digimon setting up a sort of nest. He pointed next to a Hybrid couple who were setting up a similar tent nearby. "Why?" She asked.

"Where else are we going to sleep? The ground?" Davis said before he went to help her brother, Keenan, and Ken with the seemingly never moving tent. Aw just great Kari. You have to sleep in a tent with a bunch of boys including my snoring brother. Just great Kari. She was then snapped from her thoughts when she heard a familiar voice called out from across the grassland.

"Hey Kari, long time no see!" She turned around to be tackled by an excited Kristy. She let out a yelp as she hit the soft grass giggling.

"Kristy! How are you?" The little girl rolled off her and laughed before Calumon appeared in her arms.

"We're doing great! Mister Marcus is getting stronger everyday and Mister Takuya wants a rematch with Mister Taichi. Is he fighting?" Calumon asked and Kari nodded.

"Yeah we all are." She gestured to the boys who had just finished with the tent. "Sora's joining too she's just with her mom as she's still a princess and has stuff to do." Kristy giggled at the boys before saying,

"But all the other teams are over there." She pointed to the other side of the plain where a fence was constructed and Kari could barely see tiny structures that looked like tents. She gave off an embarrassed chuckle and turned to the boys who were celebrating their 'victory'.

"I'll be right back." Kristy watched as Kari slowly approached the cheering boys and watched as she started talking to them. She saw their happy smiles turn into o's of shock and then into a frown of annoyance. She didn't know why they were upset but stayed there watching them shake before Kari ran over covered her ears and turned her around avoiding the multiple 'Damnits' and the trashing of the poor tent.

"So over there right?" Tai asked Kari as they finished repacking their items and were a bit hostile after they lost the 'battle' with the tent. She nodded and pointed to the fenced area. "Cool. LAST ONE THERE IS A DIGIEGG!" He yelled out and shot out across the grassy terrain his purple wings sparkling within the sunlight as he soared over the many Digimon and Hybrids towards the miny village of tents. Kari watched Davis and Keenan shoot off after him with Ken casually following. She sighed and grabbed Kristy and Calumon and flying them over the grassland before landing at the campsite only to hear shouting.

"TAICHI KAMIYA! You left poor Kristy behind!" Sora shouted at Tai before turning to Davis and Keenan who were sneaking away before Ken grabbed them and dragged them back. "Don't walk away from me! You two are even worse, and Ken you left poor Kari to carry a little girl and her Digimon friend!" Tai put their stuff down and looked around them. Noticing that Sora's yelling had notified their neighbors that they had arrived.

"Great job Sora, you woke the neighbors." Sora punched his left arm and he smirked as she recoiled in a similar fashion to his sister from hitting his armor.

"Aw yes another reason MetalGreymon are the best Digimon ever." He laughed as she punched him again and let out a yelp as she felt her bones slam into chrome digizoid metal. "I would stop if I were you. We're gonna need that fist tomorrow." She growled at him and turned away in a huff as he snickered.

"Taichi?" He turned around to see that from the miny crowd of people who had watched his and Sora's little scuffle was Izzy Izumi prince of the Insectoid District of the Plant Kingdom. He had grown a bit from when Tai had last saw him. Tai assumed he digivolved as he now had a red shell on his back covering his wings and his horn had grown into a giant one that rivaled his in and it was also red in color like his hair. His armor also matched the red color with hints of purple and white. "Tai is that really you?" He smiled at him and gave him a thumbs up.

"Sup Izzy. Thanks for not trying to kill me while I was in egg form." He watched as the shorter boys eyes began to water in happiness and relief. He had been having nightmares of the strange symbol poisoning Tai or worse killing him for months.

"Taichi!" Izzy ran into Tai giving him a powerful hug. "H-How? I mean you were an egg you should be at least a Koromon right now." Tai laughed and looked down at his smaller friend.

"Long story I'll tell you later when me and the boys finish with this tent over here." He saw Keenan trying and failing to untie the tent by himself and sighed.

"Then we'll help you." He and Izzy turned around to see Takuya, Marcus, Takato, and another boy around his age walking over to them he felt Izzy shudder behind him.

"Sup guys ready to lose?" Tai teased. The first three smiled and Marcus punched his left shoulder and everyone laughed when he hit solid metal, just like the others. "You people need to stop that I mean I got Sora, Kari, and now Marcus with that." Takato shook his head in disappointment at this while his cousin snickered next to him. Tai then turned to the newcomer. "Who's this? Teammate of yours?" The other boy walked up to him and put his hand out. He had on fire red armor with a yellow scarf that looked like his only without the sun symbol. He had a helmet tucked under his right arm that matched his armor in color and had a V shape on top.

"My names Mikey, Mikey Kudo nice to meet you, Taichi right?" He nodded and shook his hand.

"Yeah I'm Taichi but you can just call me Tai and nice to meet you too. So who else is on your team Takuya I thought you needed 5 members at least." Takuya slowly pointed behind him with a terrified look in his eyes. He turned just to get a vine whip to his neck causing him to gag out for air. Yoshi stood there with a look that terrified the literal shit out of him with her vine whip in her hands. "Um nice to see you too?" He then heard giggling and looked a bit behind the fairy Hybrid and saw Sora giggling at his predicament with the princess of plants herself Mimi.

"Dragons am I right?" Sora asked and the three fell into a full fledge laughfest.

"Hey we're not that bad." Takuya tried only to be silenced by another whip this one covering his mouth. Mimi shook her head and looked at the five males.

"Other than the knight and my sweet Koushiro you dragons have no sense. The only ones that do either lose their dragon attribute or are part bug." Marcus opened his mouth to counter back only to be wrapped into a cocoon of plants as Mimi waved her hands. Tai's eyes widened.

"Oh-ho you g-girls want-t to play th-this ga-me huh? T-Takato g-get backup, h-hurry." He knew that the boys within their friend group had outnumbered the females 10 to 1. He smirked in triumph as he saw the knight run away while Mikey and Izzy slowly backed away from the two women. Wait two? He heard a shout and looked to see Sora and Kari drop a plant made bag of his backup onto the ground. "K-Kari you traiter w-when I get out of th-this I swear I-I'll-" He stopped and let out a high pitched screech as Sora walked up to him and stopped on his tail. The dragon hybrids around him winced at the sight then shuddered at the amused look on the young women's faces. Tai's eyes then widened with fear. "Y-Your evil."

"No this is just payback." For the rest of the afternoon all that could be heard was the high pitched screams of the poor unfortunate teens.

"So what have y'all been up to since we left?" Tai asked as he rubbed an ice pack on his bruised tail. Mimi held up her hand and started talking.

"Well after you left Izzy, JP, and Henry all decided to go and research the crests while doing a bit of training on the side." She giggled as her fiance flinched and turned red when she pinched his insectoid muscles. "Speaking of which. Izzy where are those two, Cody, and Zoe?" Everyone gave them confused looks at the names Cody and Zoe. Who were they? Acknowledging there unspoken question Mimi picked up on it and answered. "Zoe and Cody are the teams last members. According to everyone else they have some special power within them along with JP so our parents let them join." Sora nodded now getting a glimpse at their opponents she wondered how their ultimate based team could tackle the mega-level threats in the ring without much support. Then Kristy started to speak about the Dragon Kingdom Calumon sleeping in her lap.

"Marcus and Yoshi started learning how to use this cool power. Um Takato's doing something similar and Takuya is just getting stronger, oh yeah Mikey learned some kind of new shiny-thingy." At this Tai perked up.

"No fair you all are already mega level!" The older teens chuckled before pointing back to him.

"I don't know about you Tai but your pretty deadly to most of us in battle anyway so more power the better." Marcus said nonchalantly while the teen just looked at him with eyes full of confusion. "Don't worry just be glad he isn't here." He? Sora was about to press for more when Takuya gave Marcus a glare that would make NeoDevimon proud.

"Anyway.." Tai started noticing the level of tension starting to rise. "This is Davis, Ken, and Keenan everyone and this is Marcus, Kristy, Yoshi, Takuya, Takato, Izzy, Mikey, and Mimi." They all got up and shook hands with one another. Tai smiled at the scene when he felt strong hands grab onto his waste and left him into the air.

"Holy shit Henry he's alive!" Tai couldn't help but laugh at JP's call. He then felt a shadow pass of him and watched as Henry hovered in the air above him with his dark eyes scanning every inch of his body. He looks more metal that last time. Wait. Tai's fears were soon confirmed when Henry lowed himself with his hands over his cloak.

"Um Henry what are you doing and JP put him down would you?" Izzy spoke from the circle around them. Tai left out a breath of relief. Thank god for Izzy. Then he felt Henry grab onto his cloak. God damnit Henry.

"I'm scanning him and both of his arms have two different substances on them I haven't heard of before." At this Izzy looked back at Tai with concern and, fear? He then remembered when he and Izzy met back up. He was crying. He had tried to take me apart just to make sure I was safe. What a good friend but sorry buddy I'm not letting the Gatomon out of this bag. He then jumped away from Henry and JP only to be surrounded by the Dragon team.

"Sorry buddy but if your sick we should try to help." Takuya tried before the five of them jumped him. Tai flapped his violet wings and took flight nearly missing Takato's hand only to be grabbed mid air by Yoshi's whip around his waist. He tried to pull out of them when two more grabbed his wings.

"Well, shit." He said as he felt gravity powered by Yoshi and Mimi slamming him into the ground. He tried to get up only to get tackled and then straddled by Sora. "Traiter." He mumbled.

"They might be able to help you and that's enough." She retorted. He glared at her while she glared back he heard the sounds of her backup running towards them and a sly grin appeared upon his face leaving Sora to wonder what his plans were when she felt something tickling her side. Crap his tail. Tai's grin then became an evil smirk as he intensified the tickling leaving the orange haired girl laughing so hard she rolled off him and into the dirt.

"Adios!" He laughed as he ran past her into the sky once more, until he was slammed into the ground once again. "Holy shit get off my back people!" Tai yelled as he rose only to be grabbed from all ends with Takuya and Takato at his back with Marcus and Keenan at his sides and Sora and Izzy at his front. Henry landed a few feet away from him and reached out for the cloak once again. "Sorry to do this guys but you've left me no choice." His statement had alarmed everyone as they let go right before his flames covered his body making him a glowing bacon in the crowded field. He smiled with his escaped until he realized that Sora had kept her hold on him. He then felt another one behind him noticing that Takuya and Takato had done the same as well as Marcus. "Forgot you guys were fireproof."

"Wrong!" He turned to see Kari grab onto his left arm "Your flames only hurt those you deem as enemies something we're not." He saw Mikey start to approach him with a look of determination on his face.

"I never leave a friend behind, sorry Tai." He then watched as Mikey walked up to him and ripped off the cloak. Then everyone froze at the sight that had cursed their eyes.
