Phoenix And Dragons

Chapter 5:

Previously on P&D: Henry landed a few feet away from him and reached out for the cloak once again. "Sorry to do this guys but you've left me no choice." His statement had alarmed everyone as they let go right before his flames covered his body making him a glowing bacon in the crowded field. He smiled with his escaped until he realized that Sora had kept her hold on him. He then felt another one behind him noticing that Takuya and Takato had done the same as well as Marcus. "Forgot you guys were fireproof."

"Wrong!" He turned to see Kari grab onto his left arm "Your flames only hurt those you deem as enemies something we're not." He saw Mikey start to approach him with a look of determination on his face.

"I never leave a friend behind, sorry Tai." He then watched as Mikey walked up to him and ripped off the cloak. Then everyone froze at the sight that had cursed their eyes.

Now: "H-Holy shit." Marcus gasped out as he looked at the mess that Tai called his arm. The tanned flesh had turned into a nasty purple and his veins we seen through it it with a nasty green. He turned when he heard a small thump hit the ground in front of him and turned his head to see the emerald colored prince, Henry he remembered, land and start walking towards him. No wait, he looked down at the younger teen in his arms. He's after Tai. The boy walked up the Tai then aggressively grabbed his arm causing the boy to howl out in pain.

"Told you we should've looked at your egg." He said with a bit of edge in his voice. "Now explain how this happened to you." Tai sighed in defeat and told them all the story of his 3 months training and how he got infected. When he finished he saw a worried look spread across Henry and Izzy's faces at the name of Myotismon. He then heard mumbling and turned his head towards the redheaded boy as he was apparently having a nervous breakdown.

"M-Myotismon as in the Nightmare Kingdom's most respected race of Digimon and Hybrids? You fought Myotismon and lived? Why was one here? Could this mean they're preparing for war? Are we prepared for war? Do we die in said war? What about-" Slap! He turned to see Mimi who had a red mark on her left hand though she smiled innocently at him.

"Sorry honey but someone had to do it." He shook his head to pull himself together before continuing.

"Sorry about that everyone but as I said earlier Myotismon are incredibly dangerous creatures and are at the top of the food chain when it comes to the Nightmare Kingdom. Also I believe that they're looking for Kari as for some kind of prelude to war but for what I don't know." He paused to let it all sink in. Takuya was the first to recover and spoke up.

"I'm not sure they need Kari for any kind of plans, I'm sorry Izzy?" The boy nodded. "Okay Izzy I don't think so because maybe they are preparing for war. Think about it Kari's a 'Demon Slayer' meaning she was created to slay their entire kingdom which endangers the king himself so what do you do?" Henry had caught on before the others.

"They want to assassinate her."

"Bingo. They want to get rid of a potential threat as a failsafe so they have a better shot at winning the war as all Kari needs to do is reproduce one time and the number of them double." The angelic girl pulled herself closer to her brother as the words came out of the older boy's mouth. "However onto the topic at hand." He said before pointing his finger towards Tai. "You. Henry and Izzy, could you two run test on him tonight to see if he's 'safe' and if he isn't then you guys will have to use a sub during tomorrow's elemental battle." They all nodded and soon Henry and Izzy were dragging a protesting Tai back to their tent. Takuya turned towards the rest of the group. "I want to say this as the Mountain Kingdom hasn't shown up yet but before they do let's all be on guard and in pairs at all times until this is solved." The group nodded and Sora could see how he became the king at such a young age. They all split up and went back to their respectful tents for the night awaiting and preparing for whatever awaited them in the morning.

The next morning was pure hell for Sora. The team was herded into the small tent the night before and it wasn't pretty. Tai had come back from his 'test' and fell asleep on her left wing while covering her with his right one the other over Kari who was on his left. Keenan was on her other wing sprawled out, his foot in her side. Then came the worst part.

"Up, Up, everyone!" A Centarumon poked his head through the tent. "All teams must report to their dressing rooms before 7am!" Keenan jumped up accidentally kicking Sora in her side.

"Oof!" "Sorry"

A while later Sora and Kari found themselves within the team locker room changing with the boys waiting outside. The team's only got one locker room so they had to take turns using it. "You ready?" Sora asked. Kari nodded.

"I'm ready and you look great with gold." The team colors were red and gold so they had gotten recolored versions of their clothes and armor. Sora's was just her red armor with the black undersuit now a rich gold color while Kari's wasn't really that different as it changed her pure white and gold armor the red and gold now matching Sora's. They walked outside and noticed the boys waiting leaning against the wall and Sora noticed the changes in their clothing were a little more drastic than theirs. Keenan just had on a red shirt and golden shorts with a golden scarf around his neck. Davis and Ken just had their armor changed to a gold color with hints of red here and there. Tai however had gotten a makeover, his starred shirt was now red with golden stars with golden shorts. His wings had a sparkle to them as he moved them and his armor and goggles had been polished. The last change was his scarf now orange with the sun symbol a shiny gold, he turned to look at them as they walked past.

"Looking good ladies, alright boys let's roll out." The boys started following the two girls down the hall towards the doors of the coliseum. When they reached the gate Tai turned and faced all of them. "Alright guys once we go out there our pride is on the line. Remember this is for our friends and family counting on us and we're gonna make èm proud!"

"Yeah!" They all raised their fist into the air and listened as the announcer's voice echoed around the hall.

"Hellooo, Server! You all ready for the Digigames?!" The crowd cheered. "I can't hear you!" The crowd started screaming. "That's more like it! I'm one of your three host for this years Digigames, number 1 announcer GaZ the Gazimon at your service!" The crowd now roared with excitement. "On my right is world famous reporter for the Digiworld Magazine, Catherine Deneuve!" The girl next to him had blond curly hair that went down her back and sky blue eyes. Flower petals formed around her wrists.

"It's good to be here GaZ." The males in the crowd had hearts in their eyes as she spoke while most of them were slapped by the opposing gender.

"Now on my left is the last of the human race along with the wisest man in the world, Gennai!" The old man next to him waved quietly at the crowd who ooed and awed at his arrival. "Now onto the this year's teams! The first has had a rough time in this ring but you never know when they will soar, Team Phoenix!" The cheers quieted down as the 6 teens walked out of the gates but they were still loud. "First from the team is the high flying princess herself Sora Takenouchi!" The crowd picked back up again and Sora could swear she heard her mother shout out to her from somewhere. Gennai then grabbed his microphone and started speaking.

"It seems that little Sora here has reached the Ultimate level and according to her friends hits even harder than before." The audience then laughed when she kicked Tai in the shin.

"Next to her it's the captain of the royal guard Davis Motomiya and his best friend Ken Ichijouji!" The crowd gave the two stunned looks as they looked similar but different at the same time.

"These two have gone under a new kind of Digivolution called DNA Digivolution, in which two Hybrids or Digimon fuse their DNA together to create a new being." Gennai explained. Catherine picked up after him.

"I've heard of this in some of the old legends and stories about the ancient dragon king when they say he fused into the great Omnimon with a MetalGarurumon." Some gasps and growls came about the arena.

"Anyway the next member is the Phoenix Kingdoms angel of light, Hikari Kamiya and next to her is her older brother Taichi Kamiya!" Confused looks rained down upon the two like they were aliens. "It seems like there is some confusion due to the lack of knowledge about what hybrid Taichi supposedly is." He jumped up in shock when Gennai almost flipped over the table to get a better look at the boy.

"Oh Kami, this here folks is a sight that not many of you will ever see. Taichi is a hybrid of a human and a MetalGreymon, the latter of the two being thought of as extinct when they started dying out years ago but my eyes do not deceive me as one has survived the storm and hopefully restores the rest of his kind. What do you think Catherine?" Both he and GaZ turned to look at the reporter only to find her dazed with hearts in her eyes.

"He's gorgeous look at those big beautiful wings and eyes." The two males sweatdropped at this and went back to their jobs.

"A-Anyway..." Gaz started. "I've heard that the boy has taken down Megas at this stage and I'm hoping he can give us a show. Last but not least as a Support Member is the dark shadow, Keenan Crier!" The crowd began cheering with the females squealing at the small boy. "Next up is the Forest Team! Starting with the heir to the throne, Koushiro Izumi!" The small boy walked across the arena with the rest of his team. "Next to him are Cody Hida, Junpei Shibayama, Henry Wong, Izumi Orimoto, and as their sub Princess Mimi Tachikawa!" The crowd roared as they walked across the sand and stopped in front of Tai and the others. Henry gave him a concerned look.

"I didn't find anything last night but if you do stop we all will let you walk off the field or drag you if need be." Tai slowly nodded praying that he would be okay until the end.

"Up next is the furiosus terror of the Dragon Team!" If the crowd could get any louder then this is what Tai would call it as they practically lost their voices as the team walked out. "This team packs a lot of firepower with King Takuya Kanbara, Prince Takato Matsuki, Captain Marcus Daman, Yoshino Fujieda, rookie Mickey Kudo, and as their sub member, the legendary Ryo Akiyama!" Tai watched as both his and Izzy's teams shivered at the teens name. He had a metal arm similar to his and a red scarf around his neck. The boy also had a red under shirt and pants with metal armor surrounding him along with a metal helmet tucked under his arm. "I don't know about you Gennai but the Dragon Teams looking for another win this year." GaZ inquired.

"You never know I was thinking that team Phoenix might pull out this year with their unknowns." The canine Digimon shrugged and prepared to introduce the last team of the day.

"Last but not least, the Mountain Team!" 3 quarters of the arena got quiet while the side Tai assumed was the Mountain Kingdom's cheered louder than ever. "To start us off we have the famed assassin himself MetalEtemon!" Tai Sora, Kari, and the entire Dragon Kingdom shifted when they called out the metal monkey's name. That monkey's gotta be crazy to show up here in the ring. He was interrupted when the announcer continued. "Next is..." The Digimon started coughing at and gagging at the name. "Rika Takenouchi." The name shut up the entire stadium. Tai watched as Sora looked at her older sister with shocked eyes but the redhead's violet eyes were only focused on one thing, him. His head then turned as a shriek rammed into his ears and saw Queen Takenouchi in the royal stands staring at the older girl with her jaw wide open.

"R-Rika." The girl ignored her and pointed to GaZ telling him to continue. "U-um next is the twins of light and darkness Koji and Kouichi Minamoto!" (A/N: Koji and Kouichi's parents never separated so they now share the same last name.) The two boys were indeed twins with one sporting blue and white wolf-like armor while the other wore pure black lion-like armor. "Their sub Prince Takeru Ishida and the King, Yamato Ishida!" (A/N: same thing here too.) One of the boys had a similar attire to Kari, white body armor and eight shining wings while the other had on similar armor to Koji. He turned to look at Tai making the glare Rika gave him look like a Botomon's as he then pointed to him silencing everyone. His cold blue eyes searched him with agitation and aggression.

"You." His voice filled with venom and hatred. "You will fall, only to me." He then turned away and his friends gave him a concerned and questioning glance in which he just gave them a shrug. He hadn't met the dude in all his life. As he looked closer he noticed that they were about the same age as most of the team the exceptions being Rika, MetalEtemon, and Takeru. Gennai's voice then echoed around them.

"It seems that there seems to be a rivalry between the Phoenix and Mountain teams don't you think Catherine?" The girl in question dropped out of her daze and turned to look at the old man.

"I think your right about that Gennai, King Yamato seems to have marked Taichi as a threat which is a first don't you think as he has a reputation for never losing a fight before." GaZ then turned to regard the two of them.

"We'll just have to find out in the ring as it's time to start the first event of the Digigames!" The crowd then picked back up at the news. "For those of you who don't know the Digigames last for only 5 days and within them we have tag battles, one on one battles, team battles, race battles, and today's Elemental Battle! The elemental battle will have one team member from each team go into the ring and fight each other for 30 minutes for 3 rounds. However as the name states the environment within the ring will change every 5 minutes going from hot volcanic areas to snow mountain ones and more within seconds." Catherine then spoke up next to him.

"We will also use a point system to keep track of the teams, the team with the most points will be crowned winner on the final day. Each match will give 3 points to first 2 to second and so on. Now will the first group of fighters please stay in the ring." The four teams then split into their groups discussing plans.

"I'll go first."
"No I will!"
"No me!" Tai and Davis had started arguing. Sora and Ken sighed while Kari giggled at their antics. Ken then started walking towards the center.

"Where are you going?" Sora asked and the boy turned to her.

"I'm gonna go first and scout out any advantages Tai or Davis could use for the next two matches." Sora nodded accepting this plan.
"Okay be careful Ken." He nodded and continued walking towards the center.

"The first contestant will be Ken Ichijouji from Team Phoenix!" GaZ announced. The Forest team listened and continued planning.

"I suggest we have Izzy and J.P. go last as they are our powerhouses." Henry suggested and the two boys nodded their heads in agreement.

"Then should me or Cody go in this round?" Zoe asked wanting to play a better role in this fight then sitting on the sidelines. Henry shook his head.

"No I'll go in first and use my scanners to pick up on any patterns or weaknesses within the different climates. I'll need you and Cody to watch and see if I miss anything as you two have a second perspective." They gave him a thumbs up and watched him leave their circle. Meanwhile the Mountain Kingdom had a less expressive meeting. Yamato pointed to MetalEtemon who then turned and walked into the now growing circle.

"The next two contestants are Henry Wong from the Forest Team and MetalEtemon from the Mountain Team!" The last team stood in their huddle in a deep conversation.

"I say I go out there and show them we mean business." Marcus suggested but frowned when everyone shook their heads in disagreement.

"It's called a secret weapon for a reason you know." Takato scolded him. "I say we send in Mikey." He then got the opposite reaction that Marcus had.

"Makes sense they don't know about Mikey yet he's the wild card and it hides our strength as well, nice job cuz." Takuya analysed while ruffling Takato's hair.

"Are you sure what if I mess up?" Mikey tried while getting shoved into the other circle.

"Relax, do your best and we won't be mad." Yoshi reassured as she and Marcus gave him a final push into the circle.

"The final contestant is Mikey Kudo from the Dragon Team! Now behold the Elemental Battle!" As the words left his mouth the rest of the teams were surrounded by a Piximon-like bubble and dropped onto a balcony in the center of the right wall. The arena was then covered by another bubble trapping the 4 contestants inside. A Clockmon acting as a referee waved his arms around signaling everyone's attention

"Battle, Begin!" At the wave of his arms his clock had started ticking. Metal Etemon wasted no time and charged the three teens.

"Metal Punch!" He swung his fist and smirked as it collided with Mikey's face sending him flying across the arena. His smirk only grew as Henry kicked him in the side and watched as his eyes widened as the armor around his right leg had started to crack. "Fools you can't hurt a Mega made of solid Chrome Digizoid as an Ultimate." The metal monkey laughed.

"Then how did an Ultimate like Tai defeat you then?" The metal Digimon turned around only to be smashed in the face by Ken's fist. "Plus there's a weakness to being made of metal, this! Irrant Buzz!" The hybrid's fist became shrouded in electricity and slammed into the monkey's gut sending him into the air. Ken spread his wings about to follow him when clouds started to appear at the top of the dome. Catherine's voice echoed throughout the area.

"It's here! The beginning of the true Elemental Battle!" Ken felt the temperature start to drop and his eyes widened when snow and freezing rain started falling from the sky. Crap my wings don't work when they're wet meaning I'm now a sitting duck out when MetalEtemon lands. Wait what happened to him again? Thump! The metal monkey hit the ground hard as a MetalEtemon shaped hole appeared in the ground slowly filling with water. Ken nearly jumped out of his skin when the said monkey jumped out of the hole his face showed one him one thing. The monkey was livid.

"Now kid, not only did you punch me into the sky and humiliate me but you also said that cursed name, Taichi." Ken started backing up in caution and fear of the Mega's wrath. He was 30 seconds to late. The monkey ran at speeds faster than he could ever run and snatched him by the neck. "Now how bout I bust your face in for it huh kid." He pulled his fist back and prepared to give Ken the beating of his life when two missiles smashed into his back. "Oh now what?" He turned to see Henry pointing his arms at him now shaped like cannons. MetalEtemon then made his first mistake. He tried to charge the flying foe only to slip on the now frozen ice and ram into the arena wall dropping Ken in the process. The field then changed again to a now grassy field and trees started sprouting through the ground.

"It seems that the Forest setting has been activated. I wonder if this will give the forest dwelling Henry the advantage or the tree swinging MetalEtemon?" Gennai's voice filtered through Ken's ears as he sat up recovering from MetalEtemon's attack.

"You okay?" He turned his head to see Mikey standing in front of him with his hand outstretched. "I don't want to fight an opponent how can't fight back." He explained and Ken took his hand.

"Yeah I'm alright thanks for asking." He said backing up to give them both some room.

"No problem." Mikey replied backing up as well. "Now let's fight!" The two dragons charge one another throwing fist after fist and claw after claw at each other with Ken severely over taking the rookie.

"Your strong for a rookie but you won't win like this." Ken commented as he kicked the boy through a tree. He then followed it up with a 'Irrant Buzz' attack sending him into the trunk of another tree.

"I know, which is why I saved this." Mikey said as he stood up, his armor giving off a golden glow and aura. "Now let's get serious!" He yelled as he was engulfed in a golden light.

Meanwhile in the stands. "What the hell!" Tai shouted. He knew MetalEtemon would be the greatest threat to Ken but he was about to be proven wrong as he watched Mikey start to be engulfed in light.

"He's Warp Digivolving!" Davis suddenly shouted. "He's going Mega! Shit!" He swore while Marcus gave off a smug laugh. Sora looked down at her friend.

"Be careful Ken."

Back in the arena Henry and MetalEtemon had stopped fighting to witness the the golden glow. "Shoutmon Warp Digivolve too..." He stepped out of the light with a smile on his face. His armor was now clad in gold and the 'V' on his helmet had gotten a bit bigger. Crap Baskets. Ken mentally swore as the figure called out his name. "OmniShoutmon!" Everyone in the arena other than the Dragon Team gasped.

"OMNIShoutmon." Gennai gasped.

"Could he be connected to the legendary Omnimon?" Catherine asked but got no answer in return.

"Aww!" Tai dropped down to one knee as Mikey appeared. He felt some weird kind of connection to this form of the boy yet he did not know why. Sora and Kari kneeled down next to him concern in their eyes. "I-I'm fine. I'm alright I just slipped." Both girls shared a look before giving him the 'we'll talk later look'. He sighed and nodded then looked down the see Ken and Mikey resume their fight.

Ken ducked and backed away from the rapidly attacking dragon as he let out a relentless assault on the bug-dragon. They continued for another 15 minutes going through three more terrains before ending up on a snowy mountain the last terrain before the end. Ken hadn't seen nor hair nor hide of Henry or MetalEtemon. He abandoned his thoughts and dodged another one of Mikey's golden fists. Okay so he's coming at me with this much aggression there has to be a weak spot somewhere, I just have to find it but how? Then it hit him. "That's it! Hell Masquerade!" Ken then spit into 15 after images of himself and let out an assault on the gold hybrid. Ken was close to winning he could feel it. Then a bell went off causing him and Mikey to look up at the ref who hell up his hand making a 1.

"1 minute left. If there are 2 or more opponents in the ring in the end then both teams get 2 points."

"1 minute huh? Then I'll have to finish this quick then. Doom Drillpress!" The boy clamped his legs together and started spinning like a top cutting through the afterimages with ease until he smashed into Ken's stomach causing the boy to gag out as the wind rushed out of him. Mikey stopped spinning and walked up to the coughing boy his hands starting to heat. "Good fight buddy sorry it has to end like this." He said as he raised his hands the flames turning into balls. "Twin Fireball Stri-" He stopped mid throw as a metal hand stuck through his midsection from behind. Ken looked up and his eyes widened at the sight before him. MetalEtemon stood there with an unconscious Henry on his shoulders and his other hand through Mikey's torso. The boy in question coughed out blood before falling to the cold rocky floor. Ken stood up and looked at the metal monkey in horror. As his eyes traced him they found another disturbing discovery, a similar hole through Henry's chest. MetalEtemon dropped the emerald-armored boy before he turned to Ken.

"Ahh!" Tai gasped out as agonising pain filled his being causing him to nearly collapse. The other teams gave him worried glances but he just waved them off. I need to find out what's going on. I'm feeling Mikey's pain, something that I don't like. He then looked down as Ken and MetalEtemon were about to face off. The ref waved his hands.

"30 seconds left! Two contestants down!" The Clockmon shouted. That was legal?! Ken gulped and got into a fighting stance only to get a metal fist slammed into his chest. Ken was knocked back into a rock formation as the pain has yet infected his system. He groggily stood up and tried to find the monkey Digimon. He spotted a shadow moving across the ground. "There! Hell Masquerade!" He and his after images attack only to find out it was ice covered rock. "Wha-" He felt his head get grabbed from behind and get smashed into a metal knee causing his helmet to shatter and fall off his face. He then felt the hand pull him up the the head of the metal body an evil smirk plastered across his face.

"Now what do we got here ye huh? A bug!" A ball of dark matter appeared in his other hand and he pressed it against Ken's stomach. The Clockmon's voice then rattled around them.

"5, 4, 3,-"

MetalEtemon's smirk grew and Ken felt the blast of dark matter enter his torso and exit his back before he even heard the Referee finish 1.

"Ken!" Davis shouted as he pounded the bubble with Tai and Marcus at his side as they watched MetalEtemon mercilessly pick off their friends. Davis couldn't bare to see his best friend's pained face for any longer as his punches got more and more aggressive. "Ken!" Then he froze as he saw MetalEtemon blast through the blue haired boy's torso. The light in his eyes vanishing. Rage swelled up as he watched the metal monkey laugh as he dropped the half dead boy onto the cold hard ground. "KKEEEENNN!"
