A/N: I have a question for you all at the end of this chapter. I also don't own Digimon.

Phoenix And Dragons

Chapter 6:

Previously on P&D: MetalEtemon's smirk grew and Ken felt the blast of dark matter enter his torso and exit his back before he even heard the Referee finish 1.

"Ken!" Davis shouted as he pounded the bubble with Tai and Marcus at his side as they watched MetalEtemon mercilessly pick off their friends. Davis couldn't bare to see his best friend's pained face for any longer as his punches got more and more aggressive. "Ken!" Then he froze as he saw MetalEtemon blast through the blue haired boy's torso. The light in his eyes vanishing. Rage swelled up as he watched the metal monkey laugh as he dropped the half dead boy onto the cold hard ground. "KKEEEENNN!"

Now: "How is he?!" Yolei came barging into the infirmary fear and anger shrouded her face. She turned to see the Dragon Team with Kari and Joe, who was the teams paramedic, on both sides of the teen's bed trying fix up and wounds. Davis, who was sitting in a chair in the corner with Tai and Sora trying to talk him out of something and Keenan who sat at the foot of the bed in worry and shock at what happened. Joe turned to her as he heard her storm in.

"He's stable at the moment, MetalEtemon didn't hit any vital spots that would've killed Ken, though I'm more worried about Henry as a piece of his lung had been taken out. Right now me and Kari are looking and mending any other wounds that we might have missed." Yolei nodded and sat next to Keenan at the foot of the bed before slowly breaking into tears. The others looked up at this and cursed themselves for not knowing what to do. Davis then pushed off Tai trying to leave the room only to be grabbed and lifted off the ground by the older boy.

"Damnit Tai let me go! I need to put that monkey in the scrap yard for what he did to Ken!" Davis shouted wiggling and thrashing in Tai's arms.

"I know your mad Davis, but even if you attacked him your not going to win! You need to let it go and focus on helping Ken!" The goggle boy shouted only for Davis to shout back.

"LET GO? Like YOU Did? It's Your Fault Ken's in Here Strapped to a Bed Unconscious Along with Two Other Nice Guys! JUST LIKE IT'S YOUR FAULT JUN'S GONE!" His eyes widened as felt Tai's arms drop and watched the boy leave the room. Davis stood there in pure guilt and frustration before he broke down on the floor tears rolling down his checks. Everyone watched in shock as the always optimistic boy sobbed on the stone floor until Yolei stood up and walked over to him before crouching down and giving him a hug. Everyone else soon followed and soon 6 young men and women were on the floor hugging one another.

Watching unknown to them was a lone figure covered by the shadows. So they left the Dramon Slayer alone huh? Matt's gonna like this. The figure rose from his hiding spot in the hall and held out his left arm. A saber made of purple energy flowed out of his bracelet and he twirled his arm in a circular motion his saber leaving a trail of energy until he had made a whole circle. The said circle of energy began to grow wider and wider until it stopped and became a golden gate. The figure smiled at the sight of this gate before he began to chant. "Gate of Destiny, open for your master!" The golden gate began to rotate before opening before the lone figure who stepped through causing the gate to close and disappear without a sound.

Tai stormed through the coliseum until he was outside sitting on a lone rock in the seemingly endless field of grass. "It's Your Fault Ken's in Here Strapped to a Bed Unconscious Along with Two Other Nice Guys! JUST LIKE IT'S YOUR FAULT JUN'S GONE!" Tai sighed. Davis was right he let MetalEtemon get away, and now others had to pay the price for it. He angrily threw a rock and watched as it sailed across the field before disappearing like a shadow in the night. He pounded his fist into the rock he was sitting on in a fit of rage before picking it up and about to punt it when he felt a hand tap him on the back. He jumped startled by the sudden touch when the rock he was about to punt drove him in the dirt. Luckily his head and left arm weren't crushed so he could at least represition himself see who it was that got him into this mess. He growled as he looked upon the snickering sight of Sora.

"This is why you should be nice to rocks. What would tell poor Kari if you had gotten killed by getting smashed by a rock you were about to smash?" She couldn't hold her laughter anymore and began to laugh as Tai glared daggers at her. She continued to laugh until the rock in front of her crumbled away into dust. She instinctively took a step back startled and she caught Tai's eyes who were also startled as he was now free.

"So this is your idea of a date?" Said a cold voice. Sora's eyes widened as she looked up and into the eyes of her sister who now stood on the other side of Tai. "Because if it is..." She continued before dashing and landing on Tai straddling his back before she pulled out a small dagger and held it to his neck before finishing. "Then you left yourselves wide open." She smiled in sadistic glee as Tai's pupils shrank in fear of her taking his life. "Don't worry," She mocked him. "I won't kill you, that's the King's job."

"Rika stop!" The fiery haired girl looked up at her little sister with amusement in her eyes. Sora slowly approached them. "Rika please! What is it that you guys want with Tai? He hasn't done anything to you." Sora pleaded not wanting to attack her sibling.

The older teen gritted her teeth and Tai felt her press the knife harder against his skin. "He's part of the reason you've betrayed me. Your friends have corrupted you and each other! First Yolei, then Joe, then came Davis, Ken, Jun, and now this disgusting dragon and his devil of a sister!" She noticed the sudden flinch of her captive when she mentioned Jun's name. "Speaking of which where is that old friend of yours?" Sora's eyes shifted between her and Tai who seemed to be sweating bullets and generally scared at her answer. Rika quickly caught on and her eyes narrowed dangerously. "So that's it, you're sicker than I thought. You've been running around, hanging out, and flirting with a murderer!" Sora dropped to her knees crying as Rika continued to abuse her emotions. "She was your best friend! Yet you've replaced her with this bastard just because you like his face! Does Davis even know this?!" Rika pressed the blade to the boy's neck so hard blood started to trickle down from the cut.

"Rika I know your upset about Tai but I never betrayed you. You betrayed us!" Violet eyes glared into Red but neither one faltered. "You left me and Mother because of a problem that none of us knew! We all thought you were happy and liked to be let alone so we did it to make you happy. After Father died and you disappeared Mom went crazy." Her tone softened as the tears reappeared in her eyes. "Jun killed herself out of fear and stress causing Davis and Ken to go so low I met Kari after the two locked her into a room and Tai being tortured by them in the dungeon. If anything it's because of Tai and Kari that the castle now feels like home again the only things missing is you and Jun."

Rika looked at her sister with shocked eyes. Jun killed herself just to get away. Davis would never torture someone and the thought doesn't even occur to Ken. This is exactly what King Yamato was talking about when he said he would make a perfect world. So things like this won't happen ever again. "Sora I'm sorry you felt all that pain," Rika started and Sora knew then and there she would have to fight for Tai's wellbeing once again. She saw the mischievous glint in her violet eyes.

"But don't worry that'll all go away very soon." A voice finished and before Tai could warn her a hand grabbed her from behind. "Come join us and make a perfect world where the strong aren't held back by the weak and are free to do whatever they wish." Yamato whispered into her ear. "The only thing between our goal and us however is him and his sister." The king pointed to Tai who was still in shock of Yamato's appearance and Rika summoned what looked like a magical seal and pulled up Tai's cloak. She watched as Tai squirmed in protest before Rika placed the seal on his back in between his wings. The one spot he couldn't reach. "Now about my offer?"

"How about, NO!" Sora turned and kicked him in the shin before running and tackling Rika into the ground and raised her arm about to bust her face open when Tai's screams of pain reached her ears. She turned her head to look at him when Rika turned the tables on her. Though in this position she had a full view of Tai and gave him a horrified look when a dark aura appeared around him and the purple in his right arm slowly spreading across his side. "She looked up at Rika with rage filled eyes. "What are you doing to him?!" Rika in turn watched the screaming boy with interest.

"Hm that's new. My spell is supposed to switch Digimon and Hybrids into virus versions of themselves but for some reason he already had a bit of virus in him." Looks like someone had a run in with one of Grandracmon minions. Surprised he lasted this long without losing control. Yamato's voice quickly pierced through her thoughts.

"Rika switch the seal into drain mode." The fiery haired girl nodded before chanting another spell. This caused the dark aura to turn into a purple one as the boy then crumpled to the ground groaning in pain as the infection continued until it covered half his face and his right leg. Rika then sat up and glass jar appeared in her hands. She then chanted again watching as the purple aura disappeared from the boy's body.

"Gogglehead data at your service." She said as she got off the shocked Sora and walked over and handed the jar to Yamato. "He should be completely turned within a matter of hours." Rika informed. The king nodded as a sinister smile appeared on his features. A Golden gate then appeared behind the two teens and opened up a portal as the two climbed in. Rika stopped and turned towards Sora as she was about to step into the flying portal. "This is twice now sis. Next time we meet there will be no mercy." She then turned and walked into the portal.

"..." Sora sat there stunned. She had officially lost her sister once again. This time to the claws of the Mountain Kingdom. She then heard coughing nearby and remembered what happened to her friend. She turned to see the mess that was once Tai. His arm had looked the same but now half his body shared the look making him look like a creature from a child's nightmares. "Tai..." She softly started. "Are you okay?" He slowly turned to her before he flapped his still intact wings and flew over the wall of the colosium. Sora frowned sad that he didn't trust himself around her. I'll let him tell Kari then. She then walked back to the room.

"Welcome back folks!" GaZ's voice announced across the arena. "The second round is about to be underway!" Excitement clear in his voice.

"Would this rounds participants please enter the ring." The Mountain Team wasted no time and Rika walked into the center of the arena while the other members stayed on the balcony.

Meanwhile on the other side of the balcony the Forest Kingdom were in the middle of yet another debate. "Zoe we should still send JP out there or at least his majesty. Your gonna get hurt. Didn't you hear Izzy when he said Rika could match the Phoenix Princess in combat and she's their team leader!" Cody tried to discuss with Zoe but the latter wasn't having it.

"I want to go out there Cody! We need to show them that they shouldn't have messed with Henry." She was about to shout more when a hand dropped down on her shoulder.

"Zoe if anything happens I want you to calm Meems, alright?" Zoe looked at the prince admiring his courage to go into a situation that could strap him to a bed yet show no fear. He then shared a look with JP their eyes having a silent conversation until the bigger boy smiled and pat his friend on the shoulder before the redhead walked over to Mimi and gave her a kiss on her cheek. The brown haired girl grabbed onto his arm as he tried to walk away.

"Please come back okay." She pleaded. Izzy nodded and she let go and watched as he flew down into the ring.

"The first two contestants are Rika Takenouchi and Koushiro Izumi!" The crowd wailed in anticipation and excitement.

"Sora where's Tai?" Kari asked as the redhead walked onto the balcony worry and sadness clouded on her face. "Are you okay?"

Sora sighed and leaned on the railing. "I'm fine Kari. Tai's, Tai's taking a break at the moment." Kari nodded with a frown knowing the older teen was lying to her but she didn't want to pry so she let it go. She stood next to Sora about to watch as Davis was about to go into the ring when the announcer's voice echoed throughout the arena. Rika's name caught Sora's attention as she saw the teen standing in the center along with Izzy. Welp here comes the most heated argument of my life. She thought as she grabbed Davis's arm as he was about to jump onto the sandy floor below.

"Hey Davis I know you don't like what happened to Ken, I'm furious right now too, but I want to take on my sister if that's okay with you?" Davis surprisingly stepped aside before whispering into her ear.

"No mercy." They both then shared evil smirks as Sora flew down towards the center of the arena Marcus on her tail.

"Next up is Sora Takenouchi and Marcus Daman." This statement shocked Gennai.

"Sister against sister huh. It's such a shame they used to be so close whenever I visited the Phoenix castle." He analysed.

Down in the arena Izzy and even Marcus stood away from the glaring sisters not wanting to get on their bad side. Rika then walked up to Sora her eyes full of mischief and pleasure at the idea being created in her head. "So little sis I have another deal for you." Sora looked back up into her violet eyes with Sora's red ones full of fury and hurt. Despite the emotions her features were showing, Sora never turned her down so Rika kept talking. "If you win then I cure your boyfriend up there." She offered looking at the unmistakable shape of Taichi sitting on the wall of the arena watching them. The other three gasped and followed her eyes to him then turned back to her.

Sora stepped forward. "What if you win?" Sora inquired not wanting to take her chances.

"I find out what the dark version of his mega looks like and find out how savage you dragons are, on and off the field." She smirked as she saw the three finch at her proposal. The smirk then slowly faded as Sora turned to her friends.

"What do you guys think? You guys are my friends along with Tai so what do you two think?" Marcus pondered for a little bit while Izzy instantly responded.

"I think we should save Tai. I mean he would do the same for us and I could finally get a good night's sleep." Sora smiled at the answer.

"Yeah I agree plus three against 1 are good odds." Marcus added. They all then turned to the now smug Rika.

"We accept Rika, for Tai's sake." The young woman just continued to smirk sinisterly as the bell rang beginning the match. Ding! Without any hesitation Sora bolted forward and smashed her foot into Rika's gut knocking the wind out of her. Then giving her no time to recover Sora planted her fist into Rika's face causing the teen to be sent flying before landing on the ground before the sand changed below her. A dome similar to the one Ken fought in surrounded the four hybrids. They all then froze as a sound hit their ears. Water! Their senses told them and the four of them jumped into the air just as two thirds of the dome was filled with water.

"That's new." GaZ commented from his seat.

"That's the Deep Savers climate." Catherine informed him. "It's a terrain made for aquatic Digimon and Hybrids. Something that none of the teams have." She said as the three announcers continued to watch the chaos unfold on the field.

Sora charged at Rika once again only for the girl to disappear before her eyes. The said girl appeared in front of Izzy thrusting her fist into the insectoid like armor making the poor boy to hurl out a part of his breakfast. She then grabbed his wings and started swinging him around. Marcus then charged her only for her to flip around him and plant a seal on his back before slamming Izzy into the teen's head. She then saw a speck of movement in the corner of her right eye and began chanting. "Talisman Spell!" A purple shield made of energy appeared and blocked Sora's foot a centimeter away from her head. "Sorry sis but this is personal now." She smirked before Marcus plowed into Sora with a dazed Izzy in his hands and smashed them into the dome barrier.

"Marcus what is wrong with you!" Sora shouted as the Dragon Hybrid pummeled her and Izzy into the wall while Rika floated behind him smirking at the sight of their fate. Sora then noticed the seal on the older teen's shoulder and realized what had happened to their friend. "Rika! I can't believe you did this!" She shouted at her sister who in turn laughed at her outburst. Sora growled as she ducked under Marcus' fist and landed a kick to his 'dragonballs' causing the older male to move his hands and curl up allowing Sora and Izzy to escape unharmed. They were about to charge her when the dome darkened significantly. The two teens looked up and noticed the black clouds in the sky and fog starting form around them. Just what we need, a terrain where Rika has the advantage. Sora mentally complained before a bright light smashed into her causing Izzy to call out to her.

"Sora! Are you okay?" He asked before he was grabbed and in a span of 1.3 seconds his face was now in the middle of a giant crater buried in the dirt. He slowly pushed himself up only to look face to face with Marcus. Izzy's eyes widened as sweat trickled down his neck. Marcus had changed and not for the better as he was now twice the size of the redhead and had black and red armor replacing his red and gold respectfully. The other half of his wings had black flames spilling out of them and his eyes had a blood red color to them. "You wouldn't mind taking the next 15 minutes to explain how you achieved this form?" Izzy nervously asked hoping he would be spared from the carnage ahead. To his surprise Marcus nodded and pointed to himself.

"I am ShineGreymon Ruin Mode permanently fused together with the Human named Marcus Daman." He then pointed to Izzy who rolled out of the way as a sword made of black flames formed in Marcus' hand and almost impaled him. "And you my insectoid friend, shall Burn!" Within seconds the foggy dome was lit up in black flames allowing the crowd to see the fight taking place inside. Izzy ducked as a wave of fire passed over his horn and prayed to be able to walk the next morning. Marcus threw more and more waves of the black flames at the red beetle until finally pouring his energy into a final wave nailing Izzy in his side.

"Agh!" Izzy shouted as he felt the flames burn through his armor and into the soft flesh underneath. He had to attack or else he would be bug meat. Sorry Marcus, I'll make it up to you one day. "Horn Buster!" The giant red horn began glowing as it absorbed energy before unleashing it in a massive beam hurling towards the darkened form of Marcus.

Marcus grinned as the giant beam got closer and he made an X' shape with his arms as his body began to glow and heat up with energy. "Final Shining Burst!" As he dropped his arms his body combusted with energy conceiving an explosion that took up half the arena and completely absorbed Izzy's 'Horn Buster' along with the redhead himself.

The teams in the stands watched with shock and horror at the destructive force that came out of Marcus. "Holy Shit! I knew he was powerful but damn! Rika took this too far now!" J.P. shouted as he watched the explosion continue to grow in size.

"Zoe let me go I am your future queen!" Mimi shouted trying to jump into the ring. "We already lost Henry! We need to see if he's okay!" She continued to squirm and claw at Zoe who had a surprisingly good grip for a girl like her.

"Princess please!" Zoe tried to calm her but to no avail. She looked around for help and was relieved when Yoshi came over and wrapped Mimi's arms and legs together.

"Sorry Meems but until we get Sora's bitch of a sister out of the way you need to stay where it's saf-" Knock! Knock! They all turned to see Marcus RM (A/N: I'ma call him that now) holding up a burnt and battered Izzy pressing him against the dome.

"This pathetic cockroach yours?" He asked with a smile on his face. Mimi practically snapped the vines and ran up to the dome.

"Izzy my prince! Give him back you brute!" She yelled as she attacked the dome trying to break it.

Marcus' smile became a wicked one as he said, "Sure." He then blasted the dome creating a 6 foot wide circle through it. He looked at his handy work as Mimi was on the ground tackled by Davis and Cody and Kari in a similar situation. "Here ya go." He then threw the unconscious boy to the floor next to Mimi's feet and flew away as the dome began to regenerate.

Davis got up and turned to Yoshi. "Yoshi your Marcus' girlfriend right? Then how is he so powerful?!" The woman slowly turned towards the teen and sighed.

"It's called Burst Mode. Basically it's a type of digivolution that allows a mega level to transcend it through a burst in their data. What we are looking at is a dark version of that. Me and Marcus had achieved it through... emotional means." She finished blushing. Kari then turned to her.

"Wait hold on your saying that Sora has to not only fight Rika but a rage boosted Marcus as well? Oh wait Sora! What if she was caught in that blast, or worse?!" Kari started breaking down before a hand landed on her arm. She looked up and saw Takato smiling at her and pointing at a scarlet dot flying in the now grassy dome.

"See she's alright now relax." He said before getting up and watching as Sora punched Rika in the face.

Sora smirked as Rika recoiled from her punch. "Phoenix Claw!" Sora felt her body heat up as her hands became engulfed in flames. Because she digivolved she's no longer fireproof meaning I now have a new advantage. Sora thought as she buried her fist into Rika's stomach. The girl gagged before her head was pulled down into Sora's knee. She won't last for much longer. Time to finish this! "Shadow Wing!" Sora's entire being became engulfed in flames before she them at Rika who was having a flashback.

"Shadow Wing!" The attack slammed into Rika's stomach sending her flying into distance.

A blue aura surrounded her being. "I won't lose to you ever Again! Marcus!" As the attack got closer Marcus plowed right through it and straight for Sora. His flame sword appeared in his hand. Sora tried to dodge the oncoming attack but failed making him slash her wing. Sora's eyes widened as she began to plummet towards the ground which was now a rocky landscape. "Sora!" Rika cried out seemingly worried for her sister and watched as she hit the ground with a sickening thud. "Sora, Sora you okay?" Rika swooped down and asked with tears in her eyes shocking the younger girl. "Here let me help you up."

Toshiko Takenouchi felt tears come to her eyes as she watched her eldest daughter try to help her sister. Sora said she was different but now she looks like herself the day she left. She continued to watch as Sora looked at the older female's hand like it was a Devimon out to get her and smiled when she took the hand anyway. Now we can be whole again. Toshiko thought before a wicked look appeared in Rika's eyes as she pulled Sora into her knee and smirked as the girl slumped to the ground.

Rika then turned her head towards her mother and her smirk grew as she took in the stunned and betrayed face of the woman she had stopped calling 'Mother'. She then tackled the struggling Sora and pinned her on her stomach. "So sis you get friends and think you can just come and think your so good you can defeat me?" She grabbed her left wing slowing twisting it causing the girl to whimper in pain. "This is what friends do they come and they break you." She twisted it further causing Sora to cry out in pain. "They over shadow you, make you weak." She kept twisting and Sora's screams got worst. Rika laughed as Toshiko fell to the floor in shock and guilt at who her daughter had become. She heard the banging on the dome coming from the balcony. "And worst of all friends break you." Snap! The crowd gasped and looked away when the teen gave one last twist.

"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" Sora cried out as Rika broke her wing. Tears spilling out of her eyes as the person she looked up to the most harmed her. Rika then snapped her fingers releasing Marcus causing him to fall to the ground unconscious.

"The match is now over drop the dome!" Gennai shouted. He was horrified by the ruthlessness of the former princess. The dome dropped and the teams jumped down running to their friends.

"It's a shame really." Catherine said sadly. "They abuse the no killing rule so much that they just torture everyone else."

Gennai nodded before he gave her a soft smile. "The Mountain team is telling them not to hold back and if I know one thing it's that you can't force these youngins to crack under pressure. This could heat things up later down the road."

Sora kept screaming all the way to the infirmary. Blood trickled down her wing as they turned more and more corners until she was across from Ken in their room. Kari now stood at her left trying to get her to stop but the pain was too great. "Sora please if you calm down a bit we might be able to patch it up before the next round." Joe tried but the girl had lost it and he couldn't blame her. Her wings were sensitive to begin with so the pain might be twice as much worse than normal. Eventually Davis and Keenan had to hold her down and keep her still while Kari healed the wing and Joe bandaged it. "Looks like Tai is gonna be in the dungeon when we get home." He joked remembering the queen's threat. He then realized the said Hybrid wasn't there. "Kari where is Taichi?" The girl tilted her head and shrugged. The tall boy decided to dismiss it thinking that the boy would be fine on his own. He walked out of the room and turned to see Davis leaning against the wall. "Davis? What are you doing here?" The younger boy turned to look at him and sighed.

"I just feel like I could've stopped this. When Sora asked to fight Rika I should've said no and jumped into the ring. Now she's down for next two days and it hurts knowing I could've done something to avoid this." He looked deflated and depressed.

"Then we'll make it right." They turned around to see Tai clad in full cloak about to walk into the infirmary his orange tail lashed dangerously. "We're gonna show them what happens when you fuck with our friends." He then walked into the room leaving an inspired Davis and Joe behind.

Tai walked into the room only to get tackled by Kari. "Where have you been?! Sora got her wing broken, Izzy has severe burns, and Marcus has been unconscious ever since Rika used her mind control over him!" She was scared, he could tell by her voice. He kneeled down to her level and touched foreheads.

"It's gonna be alright. As long as I am here no one else will get hurt okay?" She sniffled and nodded as he stood up and walked over to Ken's bed. "Wake up soon bud. I don't want you to miss me kick MetalEtemon's ass again." He then rubbed Yolei's back as the teen had fallen asleep with her head on the bed and walked over to Sora's side of the room.

"The third round is about to start! Please enter the arena!" Catherine's authoritative voice bellowed throughout the entire coliseum.

Sora looked up at Tai as he began to approach her once again. His eyes were clear and focused making her feel a bit nervous under his gaze causing her to pull up the sheets. He walked closer until he was right next to her head his gaze unwavering. Is he gonna scold me? Is he gonna pity me for being weak? Is he gonna- "Sorry." ...What? "You didn't have to fight for my sake. All it did was cause you pain and suffering. So I'm gonna go and end this so no one else has to suffer for my mistakes." He turned and was about to walk out the door before Sora called out to him.

"Wait." He froze. " You can't go out there Tai, they're coming for you and your also ill with the miasma spreading. It's not safe Taichi, nor is it worth it." He turned to look her in the eyes.

"If it stops things like this," He pointed to her wing then Ken. "Then it will always be worth it in the end."

End of Chapter 6

A/N: So two questions, 1 how did you like the chapter? And 2 how would you feel if when this arc is finished I do a 01 retelling with spirit evolution instead of partners and how it changes the story?
